Thanks, Obama: Get Ready for Periods & Pregnancies on Navy Submarines

By Debbie Schlussel

Is the U.S. Navy ready for periods and pregnancies aboard our nation’s military submarines?

If not, the maritime military branch had better get ready.  Sadly, today, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus announced a policy change allowing women to serve on Navy subs.

operationpetticoat

navysubfemale

Remember, during the Gulf War, when many single female soldiers serving on a Naval supply ship–I believe it was the U.S.S. Ted Kennedy Letterman, I mean the Acadia–got pregnant?  Yup, 36 chicks got pregnant on that ship, and all of ’em had to be shipped home at taxpayer expense.  And that was in 1991.  In the 18 years since, women are even sluttier and people are far more promiscuous.

Serving on a sub means serving in quarters so much tinier than a ship and doing so for prolonged periods of time submerged. Women in such close quarters can only pose a problem. This isn’t about equal rights or addressing alleged “sexism.” It’s about lots of periods and pregnancies that are both going to occur because the Obamaniks made this stupid move. It’s just human nature that these problems will happen.  Moreover, it’s unsanitary, unhealthy, and socially stunting. Does America really need to put women in sardine cans under the sea to prove they have equal opportunity?

Only in lunacy land. And we’re there.

Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus says allowing women to serve on submarines is an idea whose time has come.

And, he says, he sees no major hurdles from the Obama administration implementing the policy change.

Mabus gave no timeline for when the change would take effect. He says officials first must come up with a plan for how to do it, notify Congress of the plan and then the women must complete training to serve.

Mabus says women should have the ability to serve throughout the Navy and the proposed change would be in keeping with that. His comments came Thursday during a visit to Northrop Grumman Corp.’s shipbuilding yard in Pascagoula.

Other reports say women could be on the submerged vessels as soon as 2011.

Yup, get ready for more tax-funded pregnancy leave (or abortions) for military chicks who’ve served on submarines, come 2011.

Tampons . . . now available on submarines.

That’s one thing about gays in the military, at least they don’t get knocked up.

Of course they got prego, what do you expect? Its full of seamen…

Dear Debbie, for inspiration on this topic, check out the Dutch navy a couple of years back. Love your column – RJ

36 gals got pregnant, and a bunch more came back rich… and now the navy starts a “Mile-Low Club?” So we pretend we don’t allow women in “combat” but somehow they get wounded or killed. That isn’t equality, it’s stupidity.

My goodness, periods on submarines. How will the Navy deal with such a thing?

Larry Berger on October 8, 2009 at 4:57 pm

Yep. Men and women aren’t going to stop being sexually attracted to each other just because they serve on board a submarine. Any one who thinks the obvious won’t happen doesn’t know about human nature.

NormanF on October 8, 2009 at 4:59 pm

Women were made to be submariners, just turn their ‘symbol’ upside down and you will see a submarine and conning tower….

Operation Petticoat – How right you are!

Is the U.S. Navy now going to fire bras out the torpedo tubes like they did in the movie?

Fred Taub on October 8, 2009 at 5:03 pm

… If you ever saw the movie operation petticoat, they dealt with the problems of respectable men and women on a sub. These days you may as well rename those subs to S.S.N. Rave or perhaps S.S.N. MTV.

Fred Taub on October 8, 2009 at 5:11 pm

Just what the Navy needs, a bunch of Waves on a sub with a bunch of horny sailors. They’d better construct bigger brigs on those subs, there’s gonna be some trouble.

The only hurdles will be in fighting the enemy effectively.
Can you imagine the fights breaking out over jealous b/f or g/f.??? And the backstabbing in the heat of battle???
They better arm these subs with some “Dr Phils”, an aromatherapist, a “time -out room”- in the right colour scheme of course, and maybe a “grief counselor” or 2.

I’ll joke to my Navy friends at work that the women should be fine due to the rampant homosexuality in the Navy.

But on a serious note most people that served during the Gulf War know that the women were making money hand over fist, lol, hoeing on the side and nobody got into trouble. I heard there were actually LINES. Most women signed up to ho and husband hunt after. Once hostilities started, boom mass pregnancies. Yeah, the women of today are sluttier and will be doing the deed a lot more. Nice out of touch policy making by the libtards once again.

Joe on October 9, 2009 at 12:07 am

Joe – how true. In the Corps, the guys were called Devil Dogs, and that is a long story, just look it up in case you are interested. Anyway, we called the butch women Marines Devil Dykes. Most of them would be able to kick most anybodys ass. Anyway, the Marine barracks on Marine bases we’d call the Tuna Factory. I’m sure I don’t need to elaborate on that.

I think it’s a great idea. After all, our President has just won the Nobel prize for his efforts at promoting world peace and acknowledging all the horrendous things that our evil imperialist country has done wrong. We will certainly be at peace now with our neighbors such as Iran, Venezuela, Russia, China, Hondorus (once our leader is successful in removing the usurpers now in power), and so on. Thus, the ability to carry on warfare efficiently and effectively will not matter the way it used to before our new glorious era.

Simple solution:
Make it known that if a female submariner becomes pregnant at sea, the sub’s entire crew will be dishonorably discharged.

Jewish Marksman on October 9, 2009 at 9:35 am

Jarhead,
They call female Air Force members, Marine Mattresses. When I went throught tech school in Lackland AFB with the jarheads I noticed the females were truly getting their Marine injections. The Marine females were non existent. They had ONE. Big old jaw on her. I’m sure she’s watching Ellen somewhere right now. At my first base the catch of the squadron was a slut named Melissa and she and her room mate were known to bang the chief of police and his buddies over strip poker. Not surprisingly she was awarded the airman of the year award twice! They were base pretty. One day I had Phil Collins “In the Air Tonight” blaring on my stereo in the dorm and she comes in dancing to it like I was supposed to fall to her feet. It was a friday and my friend had set me up with a friend of his fiance. Melissas rep had preceded her and her arrogance was a little much. I refused her invite to go to a sausage party they were arranging and she never spoke to me again. Egos. Base whore with an ego!

Joe on October 9, 2009 at 9:40 am

BTW, a female Marine is still a female. Also known as a girl. They paired them up with other women when we practiced our physical restraint techniques, and they had less required reps of everything. I once had a good laugh at a small guy paired up with a woman. He had no mercy, lol. She was pissed he hurt her but hey we all got hurt especially with the handcuffing take down. Skin on metal? yeah.
An old friend was seeing a woman that was involved in backing up her partner on a traffic stop as a cop. She saved his life but both were shot, him worse. My point is I know they’re not all useless but the vast majority certainly were. That’s one of a very few good stories about females I’ve worked with in law enforcement. Going on 23 years!

Joe on October 9, 2009 at 10:04 am

I know this won’t be too popular to comment on, but I am going to write this anyway. In the Corps, it was standard to call the females WM, standing for Woman Marine. Most of us would joke that it actually stood for Worthless Marine. This was not misogyny based bias, it was based on that the fact that most male Marines would not want a women with them in a fighting hole or combat in general. It is a matter of genetics; women do not have the physical strength or endurance that men have, and they do not have a true killer instinct that the male Marines do. I wouldn’t want some woman crying next to me curled up in a ball during a fire fight when someone was wounded or killed with their guts spilled all over the place. And most women wouldn’t be able to carry a wounded comrade out of the battlefield.

Jarhead on October 9, 2009 at 11:35 am

I heard about “the majority” of women were just promiscuous or making money as prostitutes.

Not true. yes, there are a few that do those things, and make it bad for the other women.

I called a woman marine, simply “Marine”. I trained with many and when I became an NCO, was in charge of a few. The only real problem I had with women, is when they are in a group together, over a few weeks, their cycles sync up, and then you have 6 to 8 ‘Marines’ on PMS at the same time.

THAT is when you put weapons in their hands, point to where the enemy is, and pray for those poor bastards.

If you haven’t served with women in a combat situation, don’t make comments that they aren’t ‘worthy’ or ‘capable’. They ARE capable.

You can look these up, but use the scientific research, not hearsay or speculation based on bias.

Fact. They are not as strong as men.
Fact. They can’t carry as much.
Fact. They are FASTER than men.
Fact. Their pain tolerance is higher on average.
Fact. They observe things and ID them quicker.
Fact. They can’t hit as hard physically.
Fact. They can’t hold back emotional responses as well as men.

80 men and 80 women, tested.
88% of the men were stronger than the women.
72% of the women were faster than the men.
67% of the women withheld pain better than the men.
28% of the women could not lift their own body weight.
11% of the men could not lift their own body weight.
76% of the women were faster/more agile than the men.
55% of the men had better endurance.

These tests (and more) were done on men and women not in the military. I would love to see tests done on men and women after they completed their prospective boot camps.

To put women in submarines, would be fine. Way back then, they did not enforce birth control. Now, men and women, mix and mingle, in combat areas as well. Most of the men speak about the women as ‘Soldiers’ or ‘Marines’…. They are combat buddies. Not some harlot like most of you think..

There are more women, than men… thats a Fact. Get used to hearing & seeing women more and more involved in predominantly male tasks in the military.. Adapt to it… Its going to happen whether we like it or not.

I served in the Navy in the 80s. At the time they were starting to experiment with deploying females in the fleet.

During one of our 9 month deployments to the Indian Ocean, they flew on 26 female sailors, officer and enlisted for a two week orientation session. Within days, they were turning tricks in the berthing compartments. By the end of the exercise, they had also submitted an extremely high number of harassment and discrimination complaints against other male sailors. I know because I worked on the staff that processed them.

Guess what? Most of the men I served with didn’t want the disruption and drama that the females brought with them. When you are deployed for long periods in the military, that are likely stressful and dangerous, you tend to compartmentalize and shut-out the need to socialize and sexualize with females.

It is unfair the the male service members to subject them to the female influence and effect, when all they are trying to do is their jobs and get back in one piece to their loved ones.

Seattle Dad on October 9, 2009 at 4:14 pm

I do have reservations about women serving in combat roles in the military. Also, having men and women work together in confined areas, such as ships and submarines does pose problems. But, I do not think it is appropriate to infer that women who serve in the military are simply whores and lesbians. “Within days, they were turning tricks in the berthing compartments……” This also tells us something about the male personnel as well, don’t you think? I am not going to blame all of the bad behavior on the women involved. A whore cannot be a whore if there are no willing Johns around.

    Sorrow01 on October 9, 2009 at 9:19 pm

So when they get drafted and sent into combat (like men) then they WILL be equal in my book.

#1 Vato on October 9, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Dear Sorrow,

The real world isn’t a very nice place sometimes. Especially when calling something that looks like a duck, walks like a duck, acts like a duck, a duck. I find your lack of common sense and naive outlook inappropriate. People like you were the ones that gave the airman of the year award to a female that wore a thin veneer of respectability as a mask covering the ugly interior of a morralless whore with no boundaries to limit her on how she attained her goals over more deserving airmen. Is it my fault that she conducted herself that way and is now and forever judged for what she is? Or the many like her? I think not. I’ll continue to sneer at such whores as well as the people who protect her. It is unfortunate that so many girls graduate high school and decide to become whores for their own purposes inside or outside the military. In corrections I’ve found little better standard bearers for law enforcement females. Not all are nasty but waaaaay too many are.

Joe on October 10, 2009 at 12:30 am

I think you are in a world of your own making. Besides, did you ever report one of those gals, or simply have fun with them? You protest entirely too much to be an innocent party. The “Cry of the John” is a bit old.

    Sorrow01 on October 10, 2009 at 3:34 am

They’re assigning women to sub service for only one reason. The lunatic left will do anything in its power to destroy US military effectiveness. This will effectively neutralize our sub forces.

joesixpack31 on October 10, 2009 at 2:35 am

I thought I was clear, sorrow. I turned down the slut that came walking into the open door of my dorm room. She was the airman of the year twice because of her “connections”. I doubt you’ve ever worked for a living judging from your gullible attitude of snitching on connected people. “Cry of the John” must be whore slang that I’m not familiar with. The reason their behavior is offensive to people like me is because she sat on her ass at a desk job doing dispatcher work which is not at all hazardous. In the civilian world they’re civilians not cops. She sat at a desk answering phones and flirting with sergeants and officers all day while I was conducting felony traffic stops and going hands on with scumbags and answering domestic violence calls in base housing. Like when a coworker of mine decided to punch his 18 month in the side of the head. Or when a car load of drunken mexicans decided to joy ride in my desert around midnight. I am resentful because none of my worthy comrades could get noticed while Melissa was “servicing” administrative military members. Wait a minute, are you Melissa? Is that why you’re so offended? Why am I wasting time with you on a nice saturday afternoon who ever you are?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5j2F4VcBmeo

Joe on October 10, 2009 at 1:05 pm

Yawn. As I said before, you do protest too much. As for “Cry of a John”, do you really need an explanation of that term? It is when the client who is caught by the police complains that the hooker made him do it. In the case of calling a report of bad conduct snitching, that really tells us something about you. What other things did you overlook while in the service, and did you personally benefit from any of them? Frankly, you probably had nothing on Melissa in what you did during those days.

Hey Joe (where you goin’ with that gun in your hand – couldn’t resist the Jimmie Hendrix reference).

I don’t care what anybody thinks about the character that Nicholson played in the movie, that scene in the movie was great and we need more people like Col. Jessup to defend our country. More people need to realize what it takes to keep intact our liberties and freedom. Pussy liberals, especially Odopey, will never get it.

Also, we most definitely do not go far enough in the treatment of captured terrorists. Our boys that we send through any of the armed services boot camps go through 10 times more torture than these terrorists. This should be the reverse. These ragheads need to fear what will happen to them if they are captured, and we should broadcast what we do. Let them see the brutal methods that we should use. As Machiavelli said, it is better to be feared than loved. And these terrorists sure do love the pussy we have as the Commander in Chief.

Jarhead on October 10, 2009 at 2:05 pm

I was trying to get the link right, but I wasn’t sure if it was.
That’s one ofmy favorite clips. A nice alternate ending would’ve been a SEAL team storms to court room and extracts the good Colonel to a safe location in France somewhere. He could then execute Roman Polanski and plot other anti terror ops from an undisclosed location where the muzzies operate. I couldn’t agree more with you about treating our enemies roughly. B.O. is a disgrace. The average democrat voting lib is a treasonous bastard. I view them as Obamas useful idiots. After all we’ve heard with our own ears how much contempt Obambas minions have for whitey. He called his own white grandmother a “typical white person”. Only some huge 30000 pound bunker busters like the ones I’m hearing about will bring any sanity to any part of the middle east. I’m just not too impressed with the current head cheese. Back to my evening of adult fun and beverages.

Joe on October 10, 2009 at 7:26 pm

I was a submariner for 10 years. I served on 2 Trident submarines and one LA class fast attack. The difference between the surface force and the sub force is manpower. There just isn’t any extra on a submarine. If there are 9 billets to fill in a division, you get 9 guys to fill it. Not one extra person, like on surface ships. So, when a female gets pregnant, there is a little regulation that will not allow her to be on board for approximately 11 months( radiation to the fetus and all). What this means to the 8 other people in her division is that someone now has to pick up her slack for almost a year. There will be no temp replacement for her since that has been ruled discriminatory.

That is just one little example of why this is a REALLY bad idea. I can think of several hundred more!!

Tim Smith on October 11, 2009 at 4:38 am

Plus from what I’ve been told by guys on subs, there’s a bit more stringent standard for people on subs. Most of the women I’ve worked around in L.E. have distinguished backgrounds as bed hoppers. I can hear the howls from libtards now but there is something mentally ill about women with little regard for their reputations, bodies, future babies welfare being exposed to the higher amounts of pollutants. When Me and my ex were trying to conceive there was a long period of no, drinking, smoking, eating very good trying to put together the healthiest, best physical, mental specimen possible. Not exposing ourselves to hazardous conditions, materials, etc. That baby is now in the U.S.M.C. in the upper 2% of his squad and aced his high school calculous exams. He ain’t bad at chess either, I checkmate that ass still. Also navy women are likely to be deployed somewhere, possibly with out kids. What sort of person chooses that type of occupation? I’m just looking at the whole thing. The women in the service that I’ve known of weren’t real impressive. How about Jessica Lynch? She let the story about her capture get all flattering and then, eww, yeah, not so much. Yeah a guy did all that hero stuff they were giving her credit for, remember?

Joe on October 11, 2009 at 9:39 am

Why don’t they have separate subs for men and women? Hello?

Chris Marsh on October 13, 2009 at 5:56 pm

Take away the sunshine for a few months, add the stress of war time, remove going home to their lovers every night, and things could get interesting on a coed sub.

Chris Marsh on October 13, 2009 at 6:00 pm

This is not a problem. The Navy will obviously have “his” and “her” submarines. The “her” subs will have pink screws, of course.

E. N. Mayfield, Jr. on October 13, 2009 at 7:04 pm

I served on board the USS Vulcan AR-5 and when our ship was in overhaul for a year or was destined to go out to sea that is when the pregnancies started happening. Many of my friends did this because they wanted out of the Navy or to be transferred off the ship. These were the choices offered to them after they got pregnant, so many of them did. And many of you are right the women would make money offering their services especially when the ship was out to sea. Our ship was known as the “Love Boat”. I was one of the few who made it through without resorting to these things and I was not even one of the lesbians on board(another way to get off the ship). I just had morals and standards and stuck to my commitment to serve my country. This is not to say that I wasn’t tempted at times because of the difficult conditions.

C.Michael on October 14, 2009 at 2:16 am

I’m a female officer in the USN and I need to defend those of us that are serving our country morally and patriotically. All I’ve read in the comments above are stories about women whoring themselves out in the various military services, but there are a lot of intelligent, professional women too. I have no doubt that there are women capable of working on a submarine without sexual desires, periods, etc. interfering with the job. I’m one of three female officers in my squadron and it’s never been an issue. I’m also attached to an aircraft carrier with very few women in my air wing and there are ZERO issues. There will always be the minority group of females that will ruin it for the rest of us. Don’t let their dumb decisions tarnish the reputation of all the amazing women that are proudly serving in the armed forces.

KMR on October 14, 2009 at 4:51 pm

Served in the Navy for 24 years. During one of my deployments to the Persian Gulf, I was on a Knox class Frigate, we were alongside the USS Samuel Gompers. There were women on the Gompers and we were astounded by the “closeness” of the crew. In fact we made quite a few jokes about the “love boat”. But I can’t imagine how it must have felt to be a young sailor watching some of his buddies having sex with the female members of the crew and being left out. The jealousy and resentment must have been terrible. And yes, there was a pregnancy problem. Women on service ships, ok, women on combatants and subs, no way.

kenny komodo on October 15, 2009 at 1:12 am

While working in sub design and construction we had to consider the possible option of women onboard. The decision was against it and the sub designed accordingly. Special habitability will now be back-fit into subs for a limited number of women. The women will have comparatively more living space that will be taken from the already limited crew space, crowding the men even further. The crew is already cramped on a submarine. The special quarters will only make it worse.

Wanderper on October 25, 2009 at 12:21 am

In a sub, men must turn sideways to pass each other in passages. Just passing women will lead to many harassment complaints, officer and enlisted. Check the stats on unwanted pregnancies aboard ship. The rate will be much higher on subs and there you don’t have the luxury of a replacement. As the father of eight, I’d hate to have to deal with morning sickness or even PMS especially if it happens suddenly and under the ice cap. Who’s going to do their work? I’m glad I retired fm the Air Force before this happened to the Navy guys.

Bob on July 22, 2010 at 9:54 pm

Joe, Seattle Dad, & Jarhead: It’s pretty clear that all 3 of you were sex-starved high school nerds that have some deep rooted issues with the female gender. When men show so much hatred towards women it’s obvious they’ve had a bad history with the opposite sex. It’s nobody’s problem that women aren’t attracted to you fugly balding old turds and that you’ve been turned down more times than you’d care to admit.

GrittierThanThou has actually served with women. And so have I. We are both speaking from experience. The truth is women are in some ways physically better than men. They are more agile, faster, they are more detail oriented and thus able to spot the enemy quicker. And it’s very true that they tolerate pain better, perhaps due to the fact that they give birth. Yes, men are usually stronger. But women have their merits as well. TOGETHER BOTH GENDERS COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER.

I am a 20 something year old guy currently serving in the military. I have seen with my own eyes how strong and brave woman can be. I have a lot of respect for my comrades – both male and female. We are all out there fighting for freedom. Both genders have advantages and disadvantages. What’s the point in fighting over who’s better or calling women insulting names? How is that going to get us further along as a nation? That kind of woman-hating, sexist, bitter mentality gets us nowhere.

Brian on February 14, 2011 at 5:17 am

Hey, Dense Debbie – this has been happening AT LEAST since 1991: http://www.nytimes.com/1991/04/30/us/36-women-pregnant-aboard-a-navy-ship-that-served-in-gulf.html

NativeSonKY (@NativeSonKY) on June 4, 2013 at 2:51 pm

Oh yeah but let’s all forget that men are part of this too, maybe we should have all female subs and just get rid of the issue. But of course not because you’re all just a bunch of brainless sexist people that for some reason can’t grasp the fact that women aren’t the only ones at fault. You say there were lines to pay for men to get with a girl, but those men aren’t in the wrong? Men would do the same exact thing if they could get paid for sex. too bad we can put a vagina on you and help you feel what a period is. Or maybe we could? I would love too see you whiny boys have one. Idc just get over it we are every bit as worthy as you.
