Who’s Gonna Win The Big Game?

By Debbie Schlussel

Who’s gonna win the big game, tomorrow? As you may know, I’m a University of Michigan grad, and I have a love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with my alma mater.

I’m proud to be a Michigan alumna, but I hate that the place is sooooo bleepin’ liberal, anti-American, anti-military, anti-Israel, and anti-Semitic.  It is so left-wing there that it was truly lonely to be there during my four years as an undergrad there.  Even a lot of the “conservatives” and “pro-Israel” students on campus were actually moderates, weaklings, and backstabbing infighters who really weren’t as committed as they claimed.  They often enabled the far-left haters and kowtowed to them.

Most of my professors were ideological dogma programmers (with very few, very rare exceptions, such as Carl Cohen and Gregory Markus, both very fair and very interested in teaching students how to think, not what to think).

Also, my distant cousin, the loathsome University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel, is as big a panderer to anti-Semites and America-haters as there is.  If only five percent of Jewish donors to Michigan withdrew their contributions, that quisling would stop all of the hate  and put an end to the crap in a second.  Sadly, that ain’t happening.

That said, when it comes to unimportant things and meaningless (but fun) bragging rights, I’m all in for the Michigan team.

Well, . . . almost all in.  While I root for my school’s team in tomorrrow’s big game against our intrastate rival, Michigan State University (MSU), I loathe Michigan head football coach Jim Harbaugh, for several reasons.  The guy is a celebrity, not a football coach.  But worse than that, he’s basically a liberal politician with a whistle around his neck.

As I detailed on this site, Harbaugh apologized to openly anti-Semitic, Israel-boycotting Muslim students (who yelled “annihilate the Jews!” in Arabic at a rally) for daring to show the film “American Sniper” to his football team.  The meeting was not open to the public or the media, and he’s refused to comment about it publicly.  Frickin’ wimp.

And Harbaugh’s supported, hosted, and attended rallies for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, and he openly supported and defended he despicable actions and statements of Colin Kaepernick.  On top of that, I was a freshman when Harbaugh was a fifth-year senior at Michigan, and, boy, could I tell you some stories.  He’s not a good dude.  Just sayin’.

So, disregarding all that, I am still rooting for Michigan in Saturday’s game against State.  Who’s gonna win?  I predict Michigan by a touchdown.  What do you think?

A year or two ago, I read an article about social cues that inform who is more likely to vote Democrat or Republican.  The article noted that liberal Democrats are more likely to be Michigan fans, and Republicans are more likely to be Michigan State fans.  I’m one of the exceptions to that, but, as you know, I like to buck trends.  Sometimes, it’s good to be different.

I attended a small college in Pennsylvania – the place was a mix of conservatives, moderates and old time liberals (I make the distinction between a liberal and lefties who are basically communists such as the Demonrat presidential candidates and many of the bozos in Congress such as Pelosi, Nadler, Schiff, etc.). We all got along despite our differences. One time, I attended a speech (in the late 70’s) where one of the environmentalist speakers talked about Gaia (i.e., the Earth – this was new to most of us) and that Gaia should be considered itself a living organism. Almost everyone laughed at her -she looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I long for those days. As for Michigan and Michigan State, my son attends Penn State.

Wow Debbie, I hope you don’t mind me saying this, but you’re even more beautiful than I could ever have imagined.

First, it is good to see you publish something.

I do, in a way, and do not understand your pride in your school, which fundamentally, has such a opposite viewpoint of the world than yours.

Looking good in the photo.

I do hope you start publishing on a more regular basis again. It does seem you have been silenced if one was to view everything in a conspiracy way.

Mozelms have taken over U of M Dearborn. Only a matter of time and changing demographics before Ann Arbor falls.

Hey Debbie,

Glad to see you back. I don’t have a dog in this hunt as they say but I do like Ohio State’s marching band so I’d like to see them take it.

Imagine just how much more liberal University of Michigan (and other universities) is now compared to the time when Debbie graduated. Right now, the new emphasis of universities is the concept of “white privilege” and “structural racism.’ I can see how conservative professors and students might keep their conservatism secret so they will not get fired (professors) or get failing grades (students).

You took your hat off? Whyyyyyy? I thought maybe you were going for some Guinness world record!

Anyway, I can’t say that I have a love of football—or any sport for that matter—as I am “sports agnostic.” My idea of sports is watching my cousin the Met fan and my uncle the Yankee fan go at it—they do it strictly for the love of the game.

I guess I could muster up one “GO MICHIGAN” for ya’!!!
