No $ for State Fair, But Millions for Muslims & Lefties: Mich Says Good-Bye to Historic State Fair
Today isn’t just Labor Day, it’s the last day–forever–of the historic Michigan State Fair. Yes, it’s a sad day in Michigan history. And a sad day for me, given the great family memories I have of attending the State Fair, and given the State’s Muslim-funding priorities.

This is the 161st and last year of the State Fair because Michigan’s Governor Jennifer Granholm a/k/a “the Governatrix Gran-HO” and legislators announced they will no longer subsidize the fair, a tribute to Michigan’s largest industry: agriculture. Gran-HO announced that Michigan doesn’t have the money to pick up the losses, as it annually does for the State Fair. The amount was $360,000 in 2008.
Yet, while the State claims it’s slicing the budget everywhere and making “sacrifices” like the Fair, Michigan taxpayers somehow have plenty of money for Granholm’s Muslim friends and left-wing artists.
It’s sad for me because I have great memories of my Dad taking me and my siblings to the Fair when we were kids. He took us to see the livestock and produce and the independent farmers who make those their living because he wanted us to appreciate the hard work of the farmers around our state and how they were the backbone of much of Michigan living. As an adult, I took my little brother (12 years my junior) to the fair to show him the same and treat him to rides and other fun stuff.
But it’s even sadder, when you consider that Michigan–amid deficits and an ever-sinking desperate economy–gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to left-wing and Muslim artists through arts grants, and that it gave far more to the anti-Israel, Muslim-dominated Arab American National Museum and the Muslim-run Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS).
In 2008–the last year for which an annual report is available–ACCESS got $9.7 milllion in grants from the State of Michigan and the federal government (Bush’s HUD and State Dept. gave millions to ACCESS over the years), more than half its annual budget. 2009 levels are unlikely to be significantly lower. For 2009-2010, ACCESS got a grant of $60o,000 from the State of Michigan as a “learning center.” In 2009, ACCESS got $16,000 in art grants from the State. And that doesn’t count the gazillions it gets from Michigan for “job training” (teaching Islamic terrorists how to get Commercial Driver’s Licenses and HazMat hauling certificates–yes, ACCESS really did that), health programs, etc.
But, as I’ve repeatedly told you on my site, ACCESS enables Muslim illegal aliens to come–and stay here, and helps Muslim pregnant aliens defraud Medicaid and have anchor babies here. The organization is openly pro-Hezbollah and pro-HAMAS. It was founded in the early ’70s to boycott Israel. The Arab American National Museum–that your tax dollars (if you live anywhere in the U.S.) also fund–is a propaganda project of ACCESS.
That’s not to mention the millions of dollars the State gives to left-wing agencies and programs all over the place.
Yup, no money (a paltry $360,000) for Michigan farmers to educate kids about what they do, exhibit their hard work, and for the State to honor and celebrate it’s largest industry. But millions in cash for Muslim illegal aliens and their hate-propagating enablers . . . and their “museum.”
Wanna know why Michigan is ending our historic, time-honored State Fair? Because we have to subsidize the invasion from within, instead.
Sickening.
The farmers and businessmen from the original Michigan State Fair of 1849–and the many State Fairs thereafter–are spinning in their graves.
Eight years after 9/11, it’s clear who won. And it ain’t us.

As I’ve noted on this site many times, Michigan Gov. Gran-HO is tight with ACCESS and its founder Ismael Ahmed, whom she hired as her Michigan Dept. of Human Services chief. But sleazy Michigan Republicans–especially the despicable Republican State Senators Mark Jansen and Mike Bishop, who railroaded Ahmed’s nomination through–unanimously supported Ahmed and spoke of him like he walked on water. They are part of the problem in funding ACCESS and its museum, but turning their backs on our State’s farmers and families and kids who loved to attend the Michigan State Fair.
Double disgusting.

Are you freaking kidding me? Wow! I just got involved with our local 4H group a couple of years ago. My husband and his family are huge fair people going back 532 years! This is insane! What kind of state doesn’t have a state fair??!?! Even California has a state fair!
