Talented Prince Boycotted Israel, Contributed to Decline, Sexualization of US Culture

By Debbie Schlussel

prince

*** UPDATE: Prince was a fan of Islam, as I’d noted previously on this site (but forgot about – Thanks reader JeffE for reminding me). He said Islamic countries “are fun” and applauded Islam’s forcing women to wear burqas. I wonder if Darling Nikki wore a burqa. No wonder he never played Israel. ***

I have mixed feelings about the death of pop singer Prince a/k/a Prince Rogers Nelson, today at age 57. He was tremendously talented and heavily influenced American music in the ’80s and early ’90s, but he also contributed to the downward spiral of our culture. And he was apparently among the boycotters of Israel.

Growing up in the ’70s and ’80s in America, I was one of the many kids who danced and sang to Prince songs. I really only liked “Let’s Go Crazy” and “1999” (Party Like It’s 1999 . . . or 1399 for you Muslims). I wasn’t a fan of “Raspberry Beret,” “Purple Rain,” “Little Red Corvette” or his other stuff (most of which I found annoying and kinda cheesy). And I remember being grossed out by some of his lyrics and overt sexual stunts on stage at concerts, some of which would still be a big deal in our 24/7 porn Kartrashian culture decades later, today. More on that below.

It also appears that Prince was among those who abided the Jew-hating Arab Muslim boycott of Israel. He never had a concert there. I’d always thought he’d played in Tel Aviv, but I researched it, and it turns out he didn’t. In 2012, several fans raised the question on the Prince-org site about why Prince never performed in Israel, but you can’t access it as I write this. The site is down due to heavy traffic because of Prince’s death. It’s not like Prince didn’t travel worldwide to perform. He did shows all over Europe (several European tours, in fact) and in places like Australia. But no Israel. That’s gotta be a for a specific political reason, even though I can’t find any statements he ever made about Jews or Israel. But Prince was tight with open Jew-haters like Spike Lee. That probably had an influence on him and has something to do with why Prince never played Israel. Religiously, Prince was at times a Jehovah’s Witness and proselytized for the group. But I can’t believe they were down with his open displays of sexuality, some of which was outright porn.

Yes, Prince’s made many “contributions” to the further sexualization and perversion of American culture. If you don’t think Prince contributed to that, all you have to do is look at the lyrics for his hit “Darling Nikki,” which discusses a sex addict’s masturbation and sex toys. Ditto for “Nasty Girl,”the song he wrote and composed for his protege, the late Vanity of Vanity 6. The song talks about having sex on the floor of limousines, with sailors, and how many “inches” she needs (“7 inches or more”). Vanity 6 usually opened for Prince along with his other protege, Sheila E. Prince also simulated sex–oral, masturbatory, and otherwise– on stage at his concerts, as did Sheila E, who opened for him on tour and featured an oral sex simulation at many of her concerts.

From a September 1988 New York Times concert review:

The concert opened with ”Erotic City,” as Prince mimed a menage a trois with Cat and the band’s drummer, Sheila E., and there was no shortage of bump-and-grind in the next two hours of music.

Prince was a weird guy, and among the strange and disgusting things he did was this:

In 1989, Prince put out a 12-inch single called The Scandalous Sex Suite, which featured vocal contributions from Kim Basinger, including some moaning and groaning that was rumored to be taken from recordings of a sex romp between the two stars.

See, they were the original Kim Kardashian and Ray-J (who made a sex tape that made Kim and all of the Kartrashian-Jenners famous and fabulously rich). Was this really good for America?

Yeah, I know, all of this is now “tame” and “passe” and “not a big deal” now. But it was at the time, and we’re used to it now because Prince made it okay and cool.

Given all this, and Prince’s tremendous influence in putting forth fellow lascivious pop acts like Sheila E and Vanity 6 onto the music scene at the time, Prince left his mark on American culture. And not in a good way. He helped usher in the further sexualization and defining of deviance down that has brought us to the sewer point where we are today. You don’t have to be a prude to get that. But, nowadays, you’re backwards and a stick in the mud if you point this out. Open sexuality and the pornification of America–to which Prince contributed–is a fact of life. It’s not just hip anymore. It’s all too common and universal.

Maybe it’s a good thing Prince never played Israel.

Prince was a tremendously talented guy who had a great ear for music and showmanship. He was one of the original image crafters and branders in the era of MTV music video marketing. He played several instruments, and wrote and composed most of his own hits and a lot of hits for others, like one of my guilty-pleasure, cheesy faves, Sheena Easton’s “Strut.” But he also wrote her gross, sexual, and stupid “Sugar Walls.” And it’s yet another example of how he used his talents in a sleazy, lowlife way. Prince had a negative impact on America, even if most Karadashian-and-Real-Housewife-addled Americans are too stupid and IQ-challenged to notice.

Buh-bye, Prince. RIP.

Not so sure it was nice knowin’ ya.

***

By the way, poor WWE wrestler and pathetically desperate porn star Chyna a/k/a Joanie Laurer, who made it hip for women to be lowlife wrestling fakers. She died, too. Yesterday at age 45. But her death is eclipsed by Prince’s.

***

There’s also this about Prince:

In 2006, Prince rented a Hollywood mansion belonging to NBA player Carlos Boozer. Bad move, Booz. The latter’s former teammate Jay Williams told ESPN Radio that “Prince changed the front gate to the Prince sign … changed the master bedroom to a hair salon … changed the streaming blue waters that led to the front door to purple water,” and so on. Boozer filed a lawsuit over the unauthorized alterations.

RIP, Artist Formerly Known as Alive. What, too soon? Loved his early stuff but yeah the explicit crap was a bit much.

DS you’re kinder than me. I would not say RIH to Prince but I am annoyed he carked it because now I have to endure all the people who liked his perverted music whinge about him dying. I NEVER liked Prince. Ever. I thought he was perverted and I always thought if you liked his music you were perverted, too. He and Madonna really helped America circle the toilet bowl. I’m not happy about that and I have not much nostalgia for the 80’s. It was a time in my life I liked to hate everything people loved (and for good reason) and that still stays with me today. Prince is a big part of that and he was mentally ill, IMHO. He was perverted, weird (changing his name to that stupid glyph…but he wasn’t as dopey as the peeps who went along with it…I never did, I always called the hornbag “Prince”…and he wrote “slave” on his cheek. Pretty arrogant for someone who had NO CLUE what living like a true slave would be like) and I suspect gay. Don’t believe me, look up his CD cover for “LoveSexy”!

Like all musicians I hate I like less than 4 songs in his discography…”Kiss”, “I Wanna Be Your Lover” and “Raspberry Beret”…the last one only after I heard a punk rock band do a dour cover of it. It made me laugh. I also liked some “Vanity 6” songs because they are so goofy and dance-able. I’m laughing at them all the while I’m dancin’ to ’em. And Denise Matthews saw the light and changed her ways. Bless her heart and RIP to her!

I must be right about Pervo Prince because someone on my FB said their favourite Prince song was “Pussy Control”. What a charming song title. If you have to write song after song about what a pervert you are there must be something wrong with you…I think he really wanted to sing “Schlong Control” but that would have out-ed him. What is wrong with being openly gay, BTW?

I am only being honest on this site because if a favourite artist of mine died I wouldn’t like someone saying mean things about them. I am just keeping my mouth shut otherwise. No one cares how much I hated Prince. I just didn’t like him. I thought he was mean, egotistical and I already crapped on about what a perv he was. I know people think he was musically a genius but I never heard it. Maybe I would have if his songs weren’t so pervy.

And lastly, poor Prince was one of those artists that was loved for his 80’s crap more than his present stuff. Don’t get mad at me, I never bought his music but where were all the fans who loved him so much to buy his music the last few years? Prince was forgotten. I don’t forget the talents I love (and I will make myself look like a dork by saying one of my favourite bands is “The Spin Doctors”. Everyone makes fun of them but they rock and they sure can jam and they make me very happy!!!) so why do people throw away these uber talents from other eras? I don’t like that. If you love them then, you should always love them. Watch all the fakers and poseurs come out of the woodwork. Yuck!

Anyway, sorry Prince fans I hope you don’t get too agro at me but I wanted to let my “big whoop, nobody cares” out because I will have to endure people who didn’t think of Prince in years acting as if they were his biggest fan. That stuff makes me sick. I have always had a visceral hate for Prince so please forgive me…he had enough fans, he didn’t need my love…

Skunky on April 21, 2016 at 4:28 pm

I have always had a visceral hate for Prince

Well, then ya can’t be all bad.

    Love ya, Skunksmeister!

    DS_ROCKS! on April 21, 2016 at 5:10 pm

I like reading your posts Skunky and I’m not really a Prince fan so I ain’t mad at ya. Prince kind of reminded me of a musical Kat Williams. Short and annoying…LOL! Oh and cool avatar BTW.

    Ken B on April 22, 2016 at 12:51 pm

The 80’s and 90’s were a vast wasteland when it came to music and this scumbag (+Madonna and others) is a big reason for that. He contributed nothing positive to society and his passing is a good thing. (Now if that whore Madonna would just keel over we’d be in great shape) I wonder if Satan is going to redecorate hell in purple for this guy!?

Tommy Thomas on April 21, 2016 at 4:49 pm

Definitely very talented. None of his songs are on my playlist b/c of the same reasons Debbie gave.

Hillel on April 21, 2016 at 4:58 pm

I realize that Prince was a big star, but the news coverage is ridiculous. It rivals the soap opera over Princess Di’s death, the Runaway Bride, the attractive accused murderesses that have usurped the news time and time again, and so on.

The fawning and excessive news coverage contributes to the degeneration of society just as Prince’s music and histrionics did.

Little Al on April 21, 2016 at 5:05 pm

Skunky your taste is music is backwards. Prince was a musical stud! Un-paralleled and un-matched. Musical genius. Who knows how many instruments he could play 20-30, I lost count.
Also when his mother died, he promised her, he would join the church, which he did, and he would not make any more music with sexual overtones. Which he hasn’t since he died. He stayed true to his word and also gave speeches to other artist to not follow in his footsteps. He has made his mends.
Shame Shame Shame Skunky, just pure Shame!!!

MrBigBrain on April 21, 2016 at 5:11 pm

That’s cool BDD. As long as we are still on opposing sides I know I am on the right side.

Maybe I’d have known he was a musical genius if he wasn’t so focused on pervo crap…who wants to listen to a short, effeminate freak play all the world’s instruments and a glockenspiel if he’s gonna sing about private parts and getting off? Not me. I have plenty of musical geniuses to focus on like Robert Plant, Paul McCartney (“Wings” era…my FAVOURITE!!!) and Jimi Hendrix?

He was one of the main reasons I supported the PMRC in the 1980’s. I was into punk rock but I hated filthy music. I thought those ladies had a point because things were getting terribly out of hand. I was a Libtard too. I was only a teen so obviously I was a rare kid that self-censored my music. I was proud to be like that!

And sorry, I don’t admire someone stopping being a filthy freak because his Mama carked it. He even got that wrong! He wrote all his filth when she could hear it and then stopped when she couldn’t. Doh!

Sorry, I would have liked to have recognized his musical genius but I couldn’t listen to crappy R&B filth like he created. Yuck! Oh, and the Sex Pistols sucked as musicians but their great punk CD is one of the best albums EVER! Even hooligan Poms like the Sex Pistols who could barely play made a better album than a so-called musical genius. Never heard it, never saw it.

One good thing I reckon. I had a fun friend in the early 90’s who LOVED Prince and he died of AIDS in 1992. I always think of him when I had to think of Prince. At least that makes me smile. He loved “Let’s Go Crazy” and I have to agree with my friend of yore…that is a pretty cool song!

Skunky on April 21, 2016 at 6:28 pm

Yes, Prince does not appear to have performed in Israel. It doesn’t seem as if he’s performed anywhere in the Middle East. We don’t know much about his politics because he tended to avoid political issues. We do know, however, that he’s always had a tendency to work with the best musicians and other professionals that he could that melded with his style, and that many of his favorites happened to be Jews, including, for example, Bobby Z (Robert Rivkin), David Rivkin (Prince’s producer and engineer), Stephen Rivkin, (Prince’s film editor), “Doctor” Matthew Fink, Novi Novog, and Wendy and Susannah Melvoin (daughters of famed Wrecking Crew studio musician and former National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences president, Michael Melvoin (originally Mehlworm)).

Insofar as Prince’s obsessive overt sexualization, that need probably arose over self-esteem and insecurity issues, as a way to compensate for his own perceived musical limitations. Although Prince was very talented, he knew that he wasn’t a musical genius; certainly not on a level like his hero Jimi Hendrix. Although Hendrix did do some sexual stuff as a very small part of his act, those things were tame by today’s standards, and when called out on that stuff, he said they were just “gimmicks” to get buzz. BTW Prince’s “Sugar Walls” was actually derived from a line from Jimi Hendirx’s song “Long Hot Summer Night.” Yes, “sugar walls” in the Hendrix song is sexual symbolism, but that’s a big difference from Prince’s overt usage. Here are the first three verses of Hendrix’s song:

It sure was a long long long hot summer night
As far as my eyes could see
Well my heart was way down
In a cold cold winter storm.

Well my darlin’ where can you be?
Where can you be baby?
Where can you be?

There were three sugar walls and a two candy cane windows
But the serious mood melted ah all those insight
Everybody’s on fire but I’m uh snowin’ in a cold blizzard.

Now, compare that with Prince’s lyrics from”Sugar Walls.” See what I mean:

My sugar walls
My sugar walls

Blood races to your private spots
Let me know there’s a fire
You can’t fight passion when passion is hot
Temperatures rise inside my sugar walls

Let me take you somewhere, you’ve never been
I could show you things you’ve never seen
Well, I could make you never wanna fall in love again
Come spend the night inside my sugar walls

Prince was a very talented guy. MTV helped catapult his career. Yet he churned out so many albums. However, even four albums in the last 18 months. Yet nothing much on the radio or that even his fans liked.

They say he may have Died of an overdose. Plus he may also have hundreds of unreleased songs in his safe. You can bet the fans will buy that stuff and give his estate millions. Funny how even Prince I guess did not think thrm good enough for release.

P.S. Every black newscaster and liberal white ones are fawning over prince. One black commentator even called Prince the greatest entertainer from Minnesota over Bob Dylan.

P.P.S. PRince did play the Middke East. Saw footage last night of him playing in Abu Dhabi. Of course he played their since it is an ultra rich playground.

Glen Benjamin on April 22, 2016 at 9:59 am

Yes, GB, you’re right. Prince performed in Abu Dhabi twice! That pretty much sums up the Prince story.

Ralph Adamo on April 22, 2016 at 3:35 pm

I stopped listening to music on the radio in 1978. When MTV came out, I dabbled in watching some videos. I wasn’t a fan of anyone of that era, especially Prince and Madonna. Anything that came out in music after 1978 I either heard from hanging with other people, or being on line in a store.

WITHOUT speaking of whatever musical talents he possessed, since I wouldn’t know, I totally agree with Debbie and Skunky’s commentary, especially about the gay thing. What guy makes themselves look so feminine unless there’s something going on there about that? For a guy who acted like a badass at times, he sure seemed like a feminine weirdo most of the time.

Though I did my best not to pay attention to him, he did have the deleterious effect on culture Debbie and Skunky spoke of. That was impossible to miss.

As for 1999, many people forget that it was a Rick James song. Prince re-popularized it. Many also forget that I’m Every Woman was actually done by Chaka Khan. There are even people my age that think it was a Whitney Houston original.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on April 21, 2016 at 5:37 pm

Ralph, he made that song for Sheena Easton right? Yeah Sugar Walls, but I disagree, he was a genius. A better written song than “Adore?”
Even before he gave himself to the JW, he went back and forth with God and sex. The end of Darlin Nikki, he has a religious message that you have to play backwards to get

MrBigBrain on April 21, 2016 at 5:46 pm

Pure Musical Genius, anyone says otherwise is Bonkers!

MrBigBrain on April 21, 2016 at 6:09 pm

Nope, Prince was very talented, but he wasn’t a musical genius. People who are musical geniuses do not engage in obsessive sexualization as a means to overcompensate for their musical deficiencies because their music speaks for itself. In the realm of pop music, Ray Charles and Quincy Jones, for example, qualify as musical geniuses. Incidentally, both of them have been to Israel.

Ralph Adamo on April 21, 2016 at 6:24 pm

I believe the same people you mentioned would call him a genius, but Ralph I respect your opinion, I just disagree, its all good. I just don’t know a better written song than “Adore”

MrBigBrain on April 21, 2016 at 6:55 pm

Quincy Jones tweeted today: “A true artist in every sense of the word. Gone way too soon.”

Ralph Adamo on April 21, 2016 at 7:03 pm

Baby, yes
Until the end of time
I’ll be there for you
You own my heart and mind
I truly adore you
If God one day stroke me blind
Your beauty I’d still see
Love is to weak to define
Just what you mean to me…

You all go have a listen, tell me he wasn’t the best that has ever done it.

MrBigBrain on April 21, 2016 at 7:01 pm

Very nice, but I think Hendrix’s Angel is genius. Check out this video with Hendrix’s producer and engineer extranordinaire, Eddie Kramer, talking about Hendrix and his song Angel:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12oLOU0ACAU

Kramer was an important part of the Hendrix recorded sound, and he’s worked with the Beatles, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, the Kinks, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, and many more.

Angel came down from heaven yesterday
She stayed with me just long enough to rescue me
And she told me a story yesterday,
About the sweet love between the moon and the deep blue sea
And then she spread her wings high over me
She said she’s gonna come back tomorrow
And I said, “Fly on my sweet angel,
Fly on through the sky,
Fly on my sweet angel,
Tomorrow I’m gonna be by your side”
Sure enough this morning came unto me
Silver wings silhouetted against the child’s sunrise
And my angel she said unto me,
“Today is the day for you to rise
Take my hand, you’re gonna be my man,
You’re gonna rise”
And then she took high over yonder
And I said, “Fly on my sweet angel,
Fly on through the sky,
Fly on my sweet angel,
Forever I will be by your side”

Ralph Adamo on April 21, 2016 at 7:20 pm

I’ve heard of this guy and listened to some of his music when I was a little child primarily in the 1980s, afterwards, I wasn’t too much into Prince’s music by the time when I became a pre-teen kid in the early 1990s.

Nonetheless though about the allege “sexualization” that you’re argument attributes to Debbie, think about this, had our “Judeo-Christian” culture didn’t straw-manned and exaggerated nudity as a general concept, then possibly the human body wouldn’t be viewed as something to sexualize off of. So I fully blame our Judeo-Christian philosophical culture on nudity and human-sexuality in general.

But back to Prince, may he “Rest In Peace” and his soul will travel somewhere within the “observable-universe” and years later, he’ll reincarnate into another person!

Sean R. on April 21, 2016 at 8:45 pm

The irony regarding me and Prince is that I never really listened to work, except when I accidentally stumbled across one of his songs while radio-surfing.
Probably the closest exposure I ever got to Prince was whenever I looked at some Mortal Kombat video game or another over the years; somewhere along the way they made a purple-clad ninja character named Rain who was a prince of some realm or another. (Get it? Prince, Purple Rain? hyuk-hyuk, cue the snare roll…)

As for him being weird… well, there’s no law against being weird, so whatever.
Still, age 57 is too soon to go, even these days.

Craig on April 21, 2016 at 9:06 pm

Prince had his moments. He was largely aided by MTV and the visual medium that did 2/3’s of the music’s work for many artists.

Entertainers are eulogized in such glowing near God like ways.

Thank the cattleman, the farmer, the butcher, bakers, inventors and manufacturers along with the truck drivers that bring you your food. Without food, that guitar & drum set are going on the fire to keep you warm on a cold night.

P. Aaron on April 21, 2016 at 9:47 pm

Prince was talented but he was not this great guitar player people make him out to be. I can’t believe that somebody told Eric Clapton that he is the greatest guitar player and Clapton replied that Prince is. That is just dumb. And as for being a multi-instrumentalist I never thought that was a big deal either. Once you know how to play one its not that hard to move onto others. I thought his house looked really ugly until I learned that it is really a studio and soundstage among other things. I’d really like to see what it looks like on the inside. It sounds like Prince still liked to party and it did him in. It also finally killed Vanity even though I believe she was still sober. She had done too much damage to herself before she finally got sober. Makes me glad I finally got away from that partying lifestyle.

Daniel Middleman on April 21, 2016 at 10:04 pm

I always felt very uncomfortable around that one, Prince mainstreamed the transgendered stuff, which is why we have the situation we have now with bathrooms, etc. Also, Prince was a hardcore drug addict, and eventually died from it. He was just one of many celebrities who made it acceptable to use drugs as part of a lifestyle. Of course, that has led to many becoming useless or dead in the process. His wealth and fame apparently did not bring him much happiness.

Worry on April 21, 2016 at 10:19 pm

One thing that Debbie didn’t mention in this post but had noted back in 2011 was that Prince said that “Islam is fun” and had applauded burqas.

There were a few of his songs that I liked–not loved–“1999” “Purple Rain” and “Little Red Corvette”. I didn’t like any of his sleazy songs such as the ones that Debbie listed here and agree with her and other readers here in their pointing out that with these and other similar songs that wrote either for himself or for others that he had a negative impact on the musical culture.

JeffE on April 21, 2016 at 11:40 pm

Prince’s performance at SB half time in 2007 was damn good…..name one better

” shocked, numb, and distraught” over his death…nope

harv on April 22, 2016 at 6:57 am

Prince also died at the same age as Rick James, just as Chris Farley died at the same age as John Belushi, who was Farley’s hero.

Don’t know what Prince’s favorite was, but in the immortal words of Rick James, “cocaine is one hell of a drug.” It sure is, with the accent on ‘hell.’

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on April 22, 2016 at 8:46 am

Talented, uh-huh.

There are people I admire. Prince is not on my list.

His life story is best forgotten.

NormanF on April 22, 2016 at 10:21 am

Alfredo, 1999 is NOT a Rick James song. It was written by Prince.

Sam on April 22, 2016 at 11:41 am

Yup, I blew that one. Thanks for the correction. As much as I’d like to credit Rick James, that wasn’t one of them. I guess I disliked Prince even more than I thought.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on April 22, 2016 at 2:14 pm

Whenever I think of Prince I think of my brother Keith who would’ve been 45 this month. We were inseparable and not only could we draw (he was better than me by a hair) we had these funny kid versus wars going on. Such as who was the stronger superhero The Hulk of Superman. The better cop show Chips or TJ Hooker. Who was finer Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman or Lindsey Wagner as The Bionic Woman. Or who was more famous Michael Jackson or Prince. I was team Jackson before he got all weird with his transformation and the child molestation charges. We’d watch Prince on MTV because no station in our neck of the WVA woods played his music. It wasn’t until my freshman year in high school in music class that we listened to Prince’s Purple Rain Around the World in a Day and Parade albums. My parents knew back then as with Jackson that Prince was a talented by morally without scruples. But what teenaged boy is going to turn down hanging out with girls that like Prince’s music. Not many. As to the guys perversions. He was a straight up weirdo burger with a side order of crazy fries. The movie Purple Rain showcased the guys weirdness perfectly. The grinding on stage, dirty lyrics (Darling Nicky) the funky makeup just added to his weirdo-ness. They said that he was a homosexual(gay means happy folks) but he was married twice and dated Madonna (apparently this girl got around in the 80s’), Vanity, Shelia E, and Kim Bassinger. My take is that these women were beards like Moochelle is for Obambi the big eared doe. Yes he was very talented but like Debbie do aptly put he fell into the MTV sleeze crowd of music. Unlike the cool music of Phil Collins or the social political rap of Public Enemy. I did like some of his songs like Little Red Corvette, Raspberry Beret, When Doves Cry and Purple Rain. It’s also pathetic that he chose not to play in Israel. I don’t know what it is with entertainers, college professors, and American Presidents giving the Jewish State a hard time. All the while given dirt bag countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Qatar rave reviews. Ridiculous and mind boggling. They also say that Prince died of the “flu”. Well it turns out that according to news sources he did a Heath Ledger and overdosed on prescription drugs. Now radio stations like the one I listen to at work are playing his music non stop. All I can say is that Prince was a piece of my childhood back in the 80’s that is now gone.

Ken B on April 22, 2016 at 12:40 pm

I hope one day God provides a way for you and me to hang, bro.

    U.B. KOOL

As for Madonna, yeah, look it up, she got around. You and I were probably the ONLY men she didn’t have sex with, and I DO mean that sincerely.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on April 22, 2016 at 2:47 pm

      Hey Al,

Sir it would be cool if we could hang out someday. I’ll bring the rum you bring the coke (Pepsi still rocks…LOL!)and we can discuss the craziness of it all.

      Ken B on April 27, 2016 at 11:13 am

    OH!!! OH!!! OH!!!

    One more thing, . . .

said the attorney to the secretary at 5:27 p.m., as the temp finished shutting down the computer and began packing his/her stuff to leave.

Sam correctly pointed out that I completely blew the one about 1999 and Rick James, a comment that Debbie will put up later, when she sees the e-mail that it didn’t go through, LOL!!!

BUT, I know this for a FACT. I read it somewhere and it couldn’t have been in print if it wasn’t true. ROTFLMAO!!!

Sorry, but I’m working on the second half of that joint, and another VERY strong beer.

Music producer “Jellybean” Benitez, who had a LOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT of sex with Madonna, said she was the most sexually aggressive woman she had ever known, and that it/she actually sort of became a drag.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on April 22, 2016 at 3:41 pm

-Great song by Hendrix, I know Hendrix was one of Prince’s heros big time.
-He def wasn’t a heavy drug user-worry. Vegetarian health nut, maybe recently got hooked on Percs for pain, big Pharma strikes again. Should have just ate edibles.
-Great point Skunky, regarding his mom and his change after she died, real good point.
-The man put out 39 full albums. His vault I remember reading yrs ago, he has enough un-published work for another 40 full albums, thats insane. Someone is going to get really rich.

-Oh regarding all those beautiful women he dated as Beards, really, nah, the man was too private and obviously didn’t care what anyone thought. Bi-sexual, perhaps, I think everyone thought that, but also, having a 30+yr entertainment career, and not one scandal, or rumor about hooking up with men. None! I just dont think his wives were beards, Ken, then it is also suspected he had Aids and stopped taking his meds, time will tell.

Also Ralph, did you know he played all the instruments on his first 5 albums. Come on, go ahead and call him A genius, just once.

This is true about Prince playing all the instrumental tracks on his first several albums. Like one of his main influences, Todd Rundgren, he “played the studio.”

You need to do better research. Prince became a Witness within the last 10-15 years of his life. He stopped singing his explicit song even the hits in concerts.
For all of his earlier sexual antics, the guy became religious.
People do evolve.
As far as playing in Israel…gimme a break. If you research, half of his band was were Jewish not including management as various pionts.

You sound like one of those little white girls who were brought not to even consider a black guy but you were fascinated by Prince ‘s ass. Singing those naughty lyrics when your folks weren’t around. Lol

So may have died from drugs after all?! After all the years he said he was against them?

CharlesMartel on April 22, 2016 at 9:00 pm

Oops, here is an article to refute your two articles that Prince was anti-jewish. Hey good call Prince$lyfe, looks like he had a Jewish connection after all

Not all of the music of the 1980’s was bad. There was a lot of good music that came out of the decade. There was stuff by Genesis,Billy Joel, etc. There was also a song called “We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off” by a guy named Jermaine Jackson, that was pretty worthy. Another was “Let’s Hear It For The Boy” by DeNiece Williams so there are great songs from that decade. Let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater on eighties music. It had both good and bad music there.

Ghostwriter on April 23, 2016 at 12:36 am

I totally agree with Ghostwriter. There was PLENTY of good music in the 80’s, but for me and many my age (soon to be 60), our era had passed, and most, not all of the music, was uninteresting to us. So many of us either turned to other interests, or indulged in radio stations with 54 listeners.

But on an individual level, there was plenty of good stuff. And on a very interesting note, which boggles my mind to this day, let’s take the 4 Tops. They’re my all-time favorite group, and we all know the body of work they threw down in the 60’s and 70’s. But I have to shake my head, because despite all that, my favorite 4 Tops song was from 1982.

ROTFLMAO!!! Even I have trouble believing that. In 1982 the 4 Tops were to most people, what, who are they? Are they even alive? LOL!!!

To find out the neutral truth about assumptions, best is not to drag anything into our political raster, but instead separate facts from conclusion.

Assuming that you are right, the fact seems to be that Prince seemed not to have played in Israel.
But that does not say that he was Anti-Israel.
Maybe he was just scared to play in a terrorist-zone – maybe he simply didn’t want to be dragged into this overheated subject, because whatever you do, you will antagonize the other half of mankind.

I never heard him say anything against any culture, race or religion, so my impression is that this should not be something which should be forced upon him, now that he can’t defend himself any longer.

Just take him as he was – he was human, surely not perfect in every way, but overall he seemed to me to have brought a lot of love to mankind and he certainly was no racist hater; so I wouldn’t hold it against him, even if imperfections like drug-consumption etc. should come out.

All I heard him say is that he doesn’t vote because he is a Jehovah Witness, so I assume that he withdraw from politics altogether.
Good for him to know where his limits are and not feeling obliged to meddle in all affairs and be political correct on all fronts.

Either you liked his music or not – it’s as simple as that.

You a dumb bitch on April 29, 2016 at 10:47 pm

Have you considered that if Prince never played in Israel, it was maybe because Israel didn’t want him to play his “fithy songs” there, at his conditions?

Prince bailed on a lot of people that didn’t allow him to do as he’d like and there are a lot of countries where he never made concerts.

It is also strange how you start your texte saying he never played in Israel “probably because he was pro-Islam” (sure…), and then you go on saying you never like his songs and style, so what does it do to you that he didn’t play there?

As far as I know, Prince never publicly talked about politics, being supportive of Islam nor he never critized Israel or Jews, but your twisted mind accuses him of being antisemite, racist, macho, etc.

And you’re calling him a weirdo????!!!

PurplePrince on May 5, 2016 at 3:00 pm

Oh, by the way, there would be no Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Adam Levine and so on if it wasn’t for Prince, and those I’m sure you like…
