Saw These in the Last Two Days

By Debbie Schlussel

It’s one of those rare weekdays on which I’ve stayed away from my site for most of the day.  Sorry.  Just couldn’t be helped.  Between four movie screenings (I skipped a fifth, “The September Issue”–a fashion documentary), lotsa important meetings, and other necessary stuff, it was killing me that I was away.  But I’m back, and will put up some interesting new stuff soon.

In the meantime, here’s what I saw in the last two days.  See if you can guess which one I loved and which one I absolutely hated. “Extract” is a Mike Judge project, so that might be a hint .  . . or maybe not.  Keep checking my site during the week and on Friday for my regular movie reviews.

Miss Schlussel:

I’m guessing you loved, “THE BOYS ARE BACK”, and you hated, “EXTRACT”.

I like Sandra Bullock, and she’s one of the gals on my list at the CHICKIPEDIA web site.

I searched for your name at the CHICKIPEDIA web site, but it ain’t there.

Thank you.

It’s ridiculous how these days we have to analyze previews to make sure there’s no liberal hidden messages…

I am avoiding “Avatar” because the plot looks silly while special effects seem grand. There has to be something hidden in there somewhere.

Do you remember the previews of “The Talented Mr. Ripley” where there was absolutely no clue whatsoever that the lead character was gay and would be caught in the movie sniffing his friend’s underwear? That movie woke me up to realize there’s hidden agendas in the crap that oozes out from Hollywood. We just have to be careful.

9 looked interesting (no sound here at work).

I felt that “The Boys are Back” appeared to be a heartbreaker.
