Do You Care Who Wins Super Bowl 50? Are You Even Watching? Why or Why Not? (Anti-Israel Halftime Band)

By Debbie Schlussel

superbowl50

Are you rooting for any team in tonight’s Super Bowl? Are you even watching? Why or why not? What’s your favorite commercial? Here’s my take . . . .

Hate to be Debbie Downer, but as I write this, it’s near the end of the second quarter of Super Bowl 50, and I’ve never cared less about anything. What a waste of time. What a bore. The game is boring, and the commercials are less entertaining and more insipid and bland than ever (plus they were all viewable online beforehand, anyway). I have the big game running live on my laptop, but I just don’t care and am getting work done.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it’s an “American pastime,” whatever that means, since the National Football League is a corporate monopoly subsidized by taxpayers in virtually every city that has a team (name the privately-funded stadiums for me, please) and since the NFL is a politically correct Rooney Rule and Looney Rule behemoth that is more interested in expanding its fan base than doing what’s good for America. The greedy multi-millionaires who play the game–most of them born and raised on the killing fields of America, with the values of Kim and Kanye–and the billionaires who employ them don’t have the same interests as you and I do.

For instance, they don’t care about the military (which they pretend to do at virtually every Super Bowl and many regular season games, now). In fact, it came out that the Pentagon paid zillions of dollars to the League and its team owners to promote our military, when they should have happily done so for free. Without our brave men protecting our interests here and abroad, there would be no America, no NFL, and no Super Bowl. But that didn’t stop these greedy bastards from putting their hands out and demanding payment for patriotism. Hope you knew that as you listened to Lady Gaga belt out the National Anthem (if you were tuned in to the game).

Most of these guys in the game have multiple kids with multiple women and will be broke a few years after their careers end. And you’ll be paying the child support they didn’t . . . in the form of welfare and AFDC. (Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and stripper girlfriend Shakia Proctor have son Chosen Newton. Chosen for what?) Most of these guys are the ones who support Black Lives Matter, but don’t salute cops at their games . . . you know, the police who maintain order and direct traffic before and after their games and put their lives on the line every single day.

Most guys who play in the NFL today have a lot of swagger, but not much to go with it. Yes, I love sports and football and used to love watching. But I’m just so tired of watching and giving ratings to an organization that insists on affirmative action stupidity, such as the Rooney Rule that requires teams to interview minorities for head-coaching positions but not White people for jobs on the field that are more than two-thirds occupied by Blacks. Why? Because those jobs (on the team) don’t have affirmative action requirements. They are based on merit only. It’s hypocritical to require a different set of standards off the field. But that’s happening.

And this week, NFL chief Roger Goodell (whose wife was a FOX News anchoratrix) announced he will have a new Rooney Rule, requiring front-office vacancies to involve interviews with women. Yet, he won’t require NFL coaches to audition women for jobs on the team. Why not? Well, maybe because that would be a joke (just like this new Estrogen Rooney Rule is).

On Twitter, I announced my idea for a new Rooney Rule for the dull Super Bowl Halftime show, which, frankly, might make Halftime far more interesting, especially given that the yawnworthy, Israel-boycotting Coldplay is this year’s Halftime show “entertainment.” Coldplay is probably the most derivative, uninteresting, overrated band in history. Yuuuuck. Elevator muzak is more thrilling (with apologies to muzak for the comparison).

Follow Me on Twitter . . .

The NFL isn’t even the symbol of American masculinity anymore that I once considered it to be. Not since they pimped us all on the overrated Michael Sam, whom they knew wasn’t an NFL level talent. And not since they began imposing chick coaches on the league. First this and next they’ll destroy the U.S. military by putting women in subs and combat. Oh, wait . . . they already did that. So, there’s no real bastion of American maleness anymore.

Moreover, there’s the pink stuff. The NFL has been forcing players to wear pink and then it gave “breast cancer” money from its pink idiocy to an extremist Muslim organization which brings jihadist illegal aliens into the country. So, excuse me if I don’t think it’s laudable to do “breast cancer exams” on interlopers who hate us and are invading the country. When I asked the NFL about this, they demanded my questions in writing, then refused to respond to the questions about why the League is funding an organization that supports Islamic terrorist groups including HAMAS (an ISIS feeder group) and Hezbollah.

I don’t give a damn about which team wins, as I have no dog in this fight. It’s between relative old man but classy Peyton Manning and Cam Newton, who wears flashy $850 Versace pants. Do I give a crap which one of these multi-millionaires wins a game or which of their teams does? Nope. Do you? If so, which team or which quarterback and why?

Again, hate to be a downer, but I just don’t care. I just don’t find it entertaining anymore. Do you? Why?

Why?

Its not about sports or football any more. Its about gazillions of dollars in self-promotion and undeserved pride.

The NFL is as corrupt and as insulting to its fans as FIFA does for the world’s big game, soccer.

It hard to take professional governing bodies and sports leagues seriously when they have no standards.

Does the Super Bowl signify excellence? The NFL is the opposite of it.

Its hard to get excited about a sport that’s politically correct and that has no role models to speak of.

Who cares who wins tonight.

The superbowl is on?

Who cares ….the enemy agent in the white house is still plotting total destruction

Your comments on the game so far are spot on. But as for your question, Do I care who wins the game? Yeah, I do. I personally am a fair-weather football fan at best but my 32 year old son is a very devoted Bronco fan He was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer with liver mets back in August and is fighting for his life right now, all while trying to still keep his career in the Army. It’s been a VERY difficult last six months for him and the Broncos making the Super Bowl has been one big bright spot for him. I think ahead to next year when he may not be around to see the next Super Bowl. I’d sure like to see him get this win today.

R: Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your son, and your and his family. Please thank him for his service to our country. I hope the game gives him some joy and comfort and that he has a complete and speedy recovery. DS

    Thanks Debbie….right now he’s a happy guy.

    Rick on February 7, 2016 at 10:16 pm

Debbie, . . .

(i) I am watching, despite the fact that I agree with everything you said;
(ii) I have however, despite my agreement with the overwhelming thrust of your commentary, enjoyed a couple commercials, especially the one with Jeff Goldblum;
(iii) I don’t care who wins because neither are among my favorite teams. That actually can make a Super Bowl more enjoyable;
(iv) My prediction after The Championship Games was Panthers 24-20, and I’ve stuck with it;
(iv) Don’t stop doing what you’re doing;
(v) I love you.

I’ll chime in, so far, the game looks uninteresting, it could he that both ends hage dominating defeneses, where the offenses for both sides are being “bedevilled” and having a tough time to gain any degree of rhythm?

I hope the Broncos win this one for Peyton Manning, who may call it a career at the end of this game?

No, I didn’t watch the Halftime show, as I conjectured that it’ll have interest for my intellect, some artists in todays pop-culture are overrated and dull despite being talented in their profession.

I didn’t know who was playing until the end of the Republican Debate yesterday when they asked the candidates who they thought would win.

The NBA seems to have moved into a quietly, or not so quietly anti-semitic mode. By strange coincidence the two most conspicuous scapegoats (three if you include Bruce Levenson) are Jewish. Supposedly irrelevant, but somehow the NBA scapegoats are disproportionately Jewish.

To me, following these sports seems as foolish as following the Kardashians.

I turned down a couple invitations to parties, preferring to stay home instead. I fired up the BBQ and had a piece of chicken. The next thing I remember was being woken up by my wife when the game was over. I wasn’t feeling it either Deb.

I was pulling for the Broncos likewise for Manning (who seems a decent enough guy compared to who else is playing for NFL teams nowadays), and thank G-d they won. But the game itself – meh . . .

As for the halftime show, I seem to have read that Bruno Mars and Beyonce were among the so-called “entertainment” along with Coldplay. It reminded me of a Lewis Black routine from one year when the halftime “entertainment” consisted of Britney Spears, Aerosmith (with the weirdo Steven Tyler) and *NSYNC (with the execrable Justin Timberlake). Black branded that combo a “trifecta from hell.” And this set (especially given Coldplay’s anti-Israel leanings and the track record of Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z) may well fit that bill, as well. But sadly, much music today is indeed highly derivative, not just those guys. One example is “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” by Meghan Trainor (almost a dead-ringer for another Meghan, McCain) with John Legend (who I seem to recall some years ago at another Super Bowl halftime show, wore a jihadist scarf); the tempo and key on that one seemed ripped off from Sam Cooke’s “Bring It On Home to Me.”

I watched it. There was a Super Bowl party at my local micro-brewery and it was a chance to meet up with friends I hadn’t seen in a long time. We left at half-time, thus missing the useless half-time show.

It was a good game; not the usual blow-out. I was curious whether Peyton Manning could make his “milestone”

If I ever eat another chicken wing or bowl of chili again….

Invited to two parties but stayed home & read a book. I did want the arrogant sure he was going to win Panthers QB Cam to come up short. Read about his 2 year old temper tantrum at the end of the game.

PaulaMalka on February 8, 2016 at 8:28 am

The Good Guy won and I hope he rides off into the Denver sunset and enjoys a long and happy retirement. He has been a class act his entire career, including his college days.

JeffT on February 8, 2016 at 8:40 am

I’m pretty much a sports agnostic. Just don’t have the interest or inclination to sit there for 3 hours looking at pixels. But if there were ever a time I could be enticed to watch a ballgame…well that ended a long time ago when these million dollar criminal crybabies went on strike, leaving their fans hanging. I’d rather watch schoolyard games where the monetary incentive isn’t a factor.

YCHtT on February 8, 2016 at 10:39 am

You were right on Debbie. Like you, I kept busy during the game. The game was a complete bore. The commercials were nothing special. Finally, the half time show was boring, insulting to my intelligence and offensive all at the same time. I watched the video after the game b/c I was doing my laundry instead of watching the anti-semites and BLM/cop-killer worshipers. The Superbowl has jumped the shark in my opinion.

42 years a Denver Bronco fan, here. Yes, I watched it. Yes, I was thrilled. Thank you Broncos for a kick ass performance and a Win!!

Go Broncos!

I’ll preface my remarks by saying I am “old school” when it comes to how you conduct yourself during a game, professional or amateur. Before and during the game I told my wife three things would happen. 1. If Cam Newton lost he would revert back to his pouting post game interview style, which he did. 2. If Denver got out to a big lead, the Panthers would quit. Only Cam Newton quit. 3. When Newton fumbled and jumped away from the pile trying to recover the fumble, I said he would be blasted by everyone. Phil Simms blasted him right after on the live broadcast. Although I do not condone a lot of remarks I have read on several blogs re the game and Cam Newton, HE brought up race (People are afraid of a black quarterback, to paraphrase). He needs to mature, learn from the classy, older pros, learn that it’s not all about him.

WilliamMunny on February 8, 2016 at 12:38 pm

GAGA was good.

Cam was not.

Manning was good.

Half time was a white band, a black band and black girls dressed like sluts and dancing like savages.

Manning mentioned beer after the game

Newton was a baby at his presser after the game.

Not much else went on.

Panhandle on February 8, 2016 at 1:50 pm

I liked Bruno Mars, the kid can dance. The game was a defensive battle, which means boring to most people, but I was happy Cam taken out of the game by the Bronco defense, Superman he is not.

DaveC on February 8, 2016 at 2:22 pm

    Yeah DaveC both DeMarcus Ware and especially Von Miller had plenty of kryptonite for “Superman” Cam.

    Ken B on February 8, 2016 at 2:26 pm

The Super Bowl came down to a defensive showdown with both quarterbacks getting sacked, shoved hurried etc. Debbie the only difference for me was that showboat Cam Newton finally got to know what it felt like to have a defense that was basically told for two weeks that the other teams offense was going to score big on them. Now since my Steelers weren’t in this on I had to root for the underdog. Von Miller and company knocked the yogurt out of Newton so badly during the game that he had to leave the post game interview early. Someone get that guy a box of tissues and the tape of Manning’s post interview two years ago when Seattle beat the “Omaha” out of his team. Oh and Debbie be grateful that Cam didn’t name his son fig, juice or Sir Isaac. As for the rest of the show Lady Gaga did an ok job on our National Anthem even though she looked like Elsa from the movie Frozen. The halftime show was horrible with only Bruno Mars doing a halfway good job. I was not familiar with Coldplay and I can’t stand BeyoncĂ©. She’s in the same mold as her buddies First Wookie Moochie Obama and Jada Pinkett Smith. In that Black Lives Matter and everyone else can eat cake. I’m just glad that this will be the last time the suck ups er, I mean the journalists will do a pregame interview with the Obamas. Poor Obama fan Gail King was slobbering so hard that the camera crew probably had to mop up the floor when the interview was over. All in all the game was ok because I was in good company with lots of beer and hot wings. I took away from it the tale of two quarterbacks. One didn’t talk much thanked his team and went out on top. The other talked a lot got spanked by some angry linebackers and left sulking afterwards. He’s only 26 they say and he will learn and become a great quarterback. We’ll see.

Ken B on February 8, 2016 at 2:22 pm

Had the game on to see who fumbled, threw an inception, got sacked and went three and out while reading an interesting book.

Aaron on February 8, 2016 at 2:47 pm

“The Good Guy won” lol, the guy who has his wife receive Human Growth Hormone for himself, yeah, Good. Quack Quack Quack. There is no Good guy, all the same, just athletes, stop putting them on a pedestal.
Eventually there will be something found out about Russel Wilson, he’s the ” Good guy” right now-for now. They already dismantled Brady.
They will dismantle Steph Curry on the Warriors-he’s the Good Guy in the nba. Stop putting your faith in man. Its foolish.

MrBigBrain on February 8, 2016 at 3:40 pm

I was for the Panthers, having lived recently in Charlotte, but for Peyton Manning’s sake (vis a vis al Jazeera), I’m glad that his side won

Infidel on February 8, 2016 at 11:02 pm

I haven’t watched football in years. I haven’t had cable in decades. What did I watch this weekend? I watched Better call Saul on Netflix. I am with you on this one Debbie- I also was apparently the only taxpayer in Arlington Tx to vote against funding half the cost of the new Dallas cowboy stadium in arlington tx.

KenB stole one of my best lines, and I bow in humble appreciation at his good sense of humor. My reference was in a different context, but I texted one friend and e-mailed another during the fourth quarter that Cam looked more like Fig Newton.

But KenB got to that end zone first. LOL!!! If we ever meet up, I’ll have the pleasure of handing him The Cannoli Trophy. It’s like The Lombardi Trophy, only different. At least they’re both Italian. ROTFLMAO!!!

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 9, 2016 at 9:14 am

It was a boring game. Half time show was tedious. But I’m glad the Broncos won. I ordered a King Arthur’s Supreme from Round Table and drank heavily.

The Bronco-Patriot game two weeks ago was awesome. Close, exciting … and Tom Brady lost. I was telling people back then that the final AFC playoff would probably be a better game than the superbowl, after all with the two-division setup, there is not guarantee that the two best teams will play in the Super Bowl. And I was right.

And as a bonus: left over pizza!

Richard on February 9, 2016 at 4:03 pm

Boring only if you want all-offense, and no defense. This one was virtually all defense, and the Broncos’ out-shined the “Black” Panthers (“blackest team in football,” according to HuffPo, I hear – would never read such crap). Peyton most likely went out a hero (a la Elway’s next-to-last SB win for the Broncos against GB; virtually the same offensive stats), IF he should retire (love all the articles I’ve seen telling him to do so, as if some scrunt nobody who’s never even picked up a football, or a baseball, knows when Peyton should retire! LoLoL, et al.! Morons!). Especially enjoyed how the Supermen were kryptonited by Miller and company; a real slap-down, as the cry-baby (and “slave,” as I’m sure he thinks of himself) Newton demonstrated in the post-game press conference. A dose of reality, eh, Cam?
