Whenever someone says that Jews “only care about money,” ask them if they know the story about Julius Rosenwald. The odds are they have no idea. Then tell them that Rosenwald made a fortune and gave ALL of his money away to charity. That’s right, all of it. Among his philanthropic achievements was the $67 million funding of black education programs. And that was when a million dollars was a lot of money. In today’s dollars, it would be about $1.2 billion. The very foundations of black education were created almost entirely by his money and leadership. But note that the movie includes interviews with beneficiaries of Rosenwald’s works, such as Rep. John Lewis and the writer Maya Angelou, who elsewhere demonstrated that they are really ungrateful indirect recipients of Jewish largesse. But that is the nature of hatred of Jews.

Leftists are more than happy to join arms with antisemitic groups. Red-Brown Coalitions are far from being an unknown phenomena before and after the Second World War. Stalin was perfectly happy to do deals with Adolph Hitler before the Invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941. This support went beyond the rhetorical.

Whilst I disagree with you on several things Debbie, I totally agree that anti-Semitism is now reaching terrifying levels once more – particularly in the UK. Many of the anti-Semites come from the middle classes and much of their anti-Semitism has often been an extension of their profoundly insecure snobbery.

As the UK is not a meritocracy and positions of power and influence are bequeathed mostly through nepotism, the British middle class have always been deeply jealous and actually frightened by anyone who has managed to come along and get on despite all the adversity and discrimination thrown at them purely by intelligence and talent as many successful Jewish people have.

As most working class people in the still feudal UK and you will find that many of us have a deep respect for Jewish people (in fact despite the anti-Semites ridiculous assertion that all Jews are millionaires many of us people on low income are actually Jewish).

Using Israel as a fig leaf to mask their blatant medievalist anti-Semitism has now become a staple tactic of these middle class snobs, neo-Nazis and otherwise far-rightists. You may, or may not, have heard about a disgusting attack on a young teenage lad in Manchester a few weeks’ ago. He was targeted because he was Jewish and was almost killed – as it is the poor kid is left with a severe brain injury. Unfortunately, when the local newspaper ran an editorial condemning this hate crime, it wasn’t long before certain commenters appeared trying to make excuses for the attack by linking it to Israel – when this was clearly about a young Mancunian boy being attacked just because he happened to be Jewish. Yet in the anti-Semites paranoid mind they see a powerless teenage kid on his way back from watching a movie at the local cinema as some massive power broker. Anti-Semitism is a real sickness in our society, it is an absolute disease that we can’t seem to eradicate. In that respect, it’s staying power has similarities to the rigid class system in the UK. It’s depressing.
