Yes, the contradictions in liberal groupthink are rather striking. I agree with your example about idolizing Muslim terrorism while banning the Confederate flag.

Another example is the fanatical campus hissy-fits against using or writing certain words that could be ‘sexually offensive’, while at the same time, the phenomenon of Sex Week, with its related depravity has spread (no pun intended) nationally.

But all of this is opportunistic, meant to drive clear-thinking people deeper and deeper underground, hwile still engaging in their narcissistic fun.

What is sad, though not unexpected, is to see traditional ‘conservatives’ in large numbers, endorse the stifling of the Confederate Flag. This and other stances they take suggest strongly they are no longer conservative, since many of them also support illegal immigration, the submerging of social issues, etc.

Why are they doing this? The obvious answer is they aren’t conservative anymore. They have become liberal. Their voting Republican doesn’t change that, as the Republican candidates are all liberal now.

But they obviously feel their words will have more impact if they self-classify themselves as conservatives. If some of the Commentary contributors, for instance, were openly liberal, they would be just part of the pack. But now, they get more attention as CONSERVATIVES supporting the ban against the Confederate Flag.

I am amused, and at the same time appalled by some of the rationalizations some of the conservatives use to stifle the Confederate Flag. For instance, one NR columnist said, (in paraphrase) ‘yes, ban the flag, but at the same time ban name-calling on the Left, such as La Raza.)

How clever! Hoping the readers would overlook that the ban against the Confederate Flag is a current movement, while there is absolutely no viable movement to ban the term ‘La Raza’.

Your article is well written as usual. The confederate flag is a symbol of the civil war.

In line with this, there are several reasons for the cause of the civil war, debated by historians, since slavery had some impact but is acknowledged it was not the ONLY reason for the civil war.

As for the supreme court, forcing a deviant lifestyle on the states and the people is the works of man not G_d.

G_d sanctified marriage in the ten commandments to honor your father and mother. G-d said honor not agree with them.

But I digress.

It may be too late without a revolution like the civil war to sort out the federal government takeover of the states and the people, and their trashing of what is left of the Constitution and the American lifestyle.

It is of interest to me that one debated cause of the civil war is the argument even then about state’s rights versus federal government rights. Also, another cause is the cultural differences between the north (city dwellers) and the south (agrarian lifestyle). Oh say can you see we are still being oppressed by the federal government over and over again.

In 1999, British intelligence gave a secret report to the US embassy. The report stated that al-Qaeda had plans to use “commercial aircraft” in “unconventional ways,” “possibly as flying bombs.” [Sunday Times, 6/9/02] On July 16, 2001, British intelligence passed a message to the US that al-Qaeda was in “the final stages” of preparing a terrorist attack in Western countries. [London Times, 6/14/02] In early August, the British gave another warning, telling the US to expect multiple airline hijackings from al-Qaeda. This warning was included in Bush’s briefing on August 6, 2001. [Sunday Herald, 5/19/02]

Hosni Mubarak, President of Egypt, maintained that in the beginning of September 2001 Egyptian intelligence warned American officials that al-Qaeda was in the advanced stages of executing a significant operation against an American target, probably within the US. [AP, 12/7/01, New York Times, 6/4/02] He learned this information from an agent working inside al-Qaeda. [ABC News, 6/4/02]

In June 2001, German intelligence warned the US, Britain, and Israel that Middle Eastern terrorists were planning to hijack commercial aircraft and use them as weapons to attack “American and Israeli symbols which stand out.” Within the American intelligence community, “the warnings were taken seriously and surveillance intensified” but “there was disagreement on how such terrorist attacks could be prevented.” This warning came from Echelon, a spy satellite network that is partly based in Germany. [Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, 9/11/01, Washington Post, 9/14/01]

In late July 2001, Egyptian intelligence received a report from an undercover agent in Afghanistan that “20 al-Qaeda members had slipped into the US and four of them had received flight training on Cessnas.” To the Egyptians, pilots of small planes didn’t sound terribly alarming, but they passed on the message to the CIA anyway, fully expecting Washington to request information. “The request never came.” [CBS, 10/9/02] Given that there were 19 hijackers and four pilots (who trained on Cessnas) in the 9/11 plot, one might think this would now be a big news item. But in fact, the information has only appeared as an aside in a CBS “60 Minutes” show about a different topic.

In late summer 2001, Jordan intelligence intercepted a message stating that a major attack was being planned inside the US and that aircraft would be used. The code name of the operation was Big Wedding, which did in fact turn out to be the codename of the 9/11 plot. The message was passed to US intelligence through several channels. [International Herald Tribune, 5/21/02, Christian Science Monitor, 5/23/02]

Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly stated that he ordered his intelligence agencies to alert the US in the summer of 2001 that suicide pilots were training for attacks on US targets. [Fox News, 5/17/02] The head of Russian intelligence also stated, “We had clearly warned them” on several occasions, but they “did not pay the necessary attention.” [Agence France-Presse, 9/16/01] The Russian newspaper Izvestia claimed that Russian intelligence agents knew the participants in the attacks, and: “More than that, Moscow warned Washington about preparation for these actions a couple of weeks before they happened.” [Izvestia, 9/12/02]

In the second week of August 2001, two high-ranking agents from the Mossad, the Israeli intelligence agency, came to Washington and warned the CIA and FBI that 50 to 200 al-Qaeda terrorists had slipped into the US and were planning an imminent “major assault on the US” aimed at a “large scale target” [Telegraph, 9/16/01, Los Angeles Times, 9/20/01, Ottawa Citizen, 9/17/01 Fox News, 5/17/02]. Near the end of August, France also gave a warning that was an “echo” of Israel’s. [Fox News, 5/17/02]

In October 2002, the story broke in Europe and Israel that on August 23, 2001, the Mossad had given the CIA a list of 19 terrorists living in the US. The Mossad had said that the terrorists appeared to be planning to carry out an attack in the near future. It is unknown if these are the same 19 names as the actual hijackers, or if the number is a coincidence. However, the four names on the list that are known are names of the 9/11 hijackers: Nawaf Alhazmi, Khalid Almihdhar, Marwan Alshehhi, and Mohamed Atta. [Die Zeit, 10/1/02, Der Spiegel, 10/1/02, BBC, 10/2/02, Ha’aretz, 10/3/02] These are also probably the four most important of the hijackers (and two of the pilots). From them, there were many connections to the others. The CIA had already been monitoring three of them overseas the year before, and two, Alhazmi and Almihdhar, were put on a watch list the same day the Mossad gave this warning. [AFP, 9/22/01, Berliner Zeitung, 9/24/01, Observer, 9/30/01, New York Times, 9/21/02]

Did you note that one nation conspicuously did NOT warn the CIA? That’s right, Saudi Arabia, perhaps the best funded intelligence operation of all, did NOT warn the CIA.

If you believe that CIA received all this intelligence from so many diverse sources and then just “messed up” or were “too inept” by not only failing to act on this knowledge, but in taking deliberate actions to block investigations that were underway prior to 911 by agents who were only trying to do their jobs, then you are extraordinarily naïve.

This whole week, the American left wing have perpetuated the evolutionary epidemic of anti-intellectualism in this country (just as the right wing all day today have been hysterical on the same-sex marriage rulings) over the Confederate flag debate and have used straw- man fallacies with their analogies.

For starters the Confederate flag does NOT represent racism, white-supremacy, bigotry, etc., when that was created, it was a symbol to “succeed” from this republic are Abraham Lincoln won the 1860 US Presidential election, the confederate south succeed from this nation and called themselves the “Confederate States of America”; where they didn’t do trades or business with the northern states.

And I also think that the “Bonnie Blue Flag” should be a tradition for the deep south, meaning it’s an antecedent of the Confederate Flag that it represented the “West Republic of Florida” when the government of Spain occupied that half of the state. The folks rebelled the Spanish government, and in December 1810; the US government annexed western Florida along with the Bonnie Blue Flag!

In fact their was a function in our town where an ethnic group placed another countries flag higher than our flag and I made my displeasure known.

No generation has a monopoly on patriotism.Post 9/11 how many thousands of men and women volunteered to defend this great country? They may not think like you but they are American in every sense of the word.

Indeed, they are so rare by comparison that they are virtually a complete non-issue, even though the media, of course, greatly magnifies their significance, and has a virtual blackout on the far more prevalent black on black and black on white hate crimes.

And, of course, all of this posturing and pontificating from the White House serves to perpetuate the fraud committed on Americans and to help keep them in the dark.

Why doesn’t Obama acknowledge his own family’s roots—and I’m referring to his family history of slave-ownership? Obama hasn’t once conveyed any shame about that history, and, in fact, his failure to address his history demonstrates that he’s proud of it.

Yes, the history goes back quite a ways, but the very reason that Obama exists today as a political entity is because of his slave-owning relatives, who made him what he is today. Obama’s great-great-great-great grandfathers, George Washington Overall, owned two slaves who were recorded in the 1850 census in Nelson County, Kentucky, and those same records show that one of Obama’s great-great-great-great-great-grandmothers, Mary Duvall, also owned two slaves. The records show that Overall, then 30, owned a 15-year-old black female and a 25-year-old black male, while Mary Duvall, his mother-in-law, owned a 60-year-old black man and a 58-year-old black woman. (Slaves are listed in the 1850 census by owner, age, “sex,” and “colour,” not by name.)

And Michelle Obama’s relatives were also slave-owners. Michelle Obama’s original Irish ancestor has been traced and named as Andrew Shields, an Irish immigrant who fought in the American Revolution as a Georgia resident. Andrew Shields was Michelle Obama’s great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather and his family was slave owners.

Why don’t the leftists and the Obamas figure out a way to make amends for their slave-owning ancestors? Perhaps the Obamas could start by liquidating their multi-million bank accounts and paying reparations. And why doesn’t the media hound the Obamas about doing something about it. That would be far more productive than this useless leftist discussion of confederate flags.

There is a lot of to do over the Confederate Battle Flag, but a lot of Black Americans have no problem with it and, in fact see it for what it is, and it is no racism. In my opinion, it is nothing more than another way for the usual agitators to create a crisis to hide what their true own agenda. We all did forget about the TPA didn’t we.

What the Confederate Flag means to One Black American

The Confederate Battle Flag represents racism…. I don’t think so. I for one know the history and I’m from the North and married to an Alabama girl for the last 36 years. The red, white and blue stand for the same as our US flag. Red= valor, blue= justice and white for purity. The stars are the 13 original colonies. Not far from ours today. The difference lies in the interpretation. First it was never a state flag. It was designed as a battle flag for the southern states. The X is the main difference. It represents the south wanting out of the Union after the northern aggression to push their laws on the south. It was the succession movement which is what lead to the civil war. It never had or represented race or racism, slavery or even white supremacy that some believe it did. Simply their wanting to leave the union… Please do your own research. People need to actually read a history book! Something that teachers do not teach and politicians with hidden agendas continue to destroy historic documents so they can pass their agendas. Which is continuing to enslave the people by taking away our ability to be free people. What I mean by that, they use our tax dollars to live like royalty, They love big government because they can hide from accountability. Meanwhile they do everything possible to keep us from gaining financial security. IRS, Taxes, USDA, FDA, EPA, and every government agency is like a leech and sucking every dollar out of our wallets. You want to abolish something- get rid of the government control that is in our lives. They are not allowing the people to be free. Stop voting for these politicians that vote for their buddies and making themselves millionaires while screwing the people.

We need people for the people. We need to stop allowing these people to live off our hard work.

You cannot buy “The Littlest Rebel” starring Shirley Temple or Disney’s “Song Of The South”. And don’t ever think that Georgia’s Stone Mountain is a permanent chunk of granite with fools in charge.
