When a Snooty Left-Wing Celeb Goes to Grad School @ Harvard

By Debbie Schlussel

After I graduated from Business School, I had the opportunity to attend the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (KSG).  I scored in the 99th percentile of the grad school entrance exams, had a lot of political experience, and a former college prof of mine was a top KSG official who guaranteed I’d get in and heavily lobbied me to go.  I decided not to do it because I couldn’t afford it and already had two graduate degrees.  It was time to live in the real world.  And unlike Bill O’Reilly (who went to KSG, in case you missed one of his many boasts about his Harvard degree), I didn’t need a Harvard degree to make up for inadequacies in the hood or the cerebellum.  I already knew I wasn’t a dummy.

ashleyjudd

ashleyjuddobama2

And it’s a good thing I didn’t go.  Looks like I’d have the typical empty experience that classmates of feminist, pro-Obama, has-been movie star Ashley Judd got recently.  And she acts exactly the way you’d expect from any extremely snobby phony Hollywood “man of the little people” who lives among “the commoners.”  Judd  pretends to care about the poor in Africa and Latin America, but her snooty behavior even among fellow Harvard snobs is very telling about the real her.  For an ignoramus born to a serial slut (mother Naomi had more than one baby daddy while single–she and Wynona Judd have different fathers), she certainly has the snob indignation thing down pat.  From the August 31st issue of Us Magazine:

ashleyjuddharvard

This is what Ashley Judd’s feminism looks like:   “Hello, You Must Be Going.” Thanks, little people classmates, for performing in my minstrel show and entertaining me in my home away from Hollywood. Now, leave.

File under “Snobby Left-Wing Celebrities” (a triple redundancy).

From Harvard rag:
****An earlier online version of this article incorrectly stated that actress Ashley Judd graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1990. In fact, though she left the school that year, Judd did not finish all the requirements for a French degree until 2007. The article has been updated to reflect this correction.****

I smell a rat on that undergrad degree. Her behavior is bizarre. Her “invitation” was weird…

goldenmike4393 on August 26, 2009 at 7:29 pm

Rat, indeed. I don’t know of any schools that will let you finish a degree that long after the fact. Typically, after 10 years you have to start over.

Wendy on August 31, 2009 at 9:43 am

Why on earth is she going to Grad school, has the film offers dried up? She actually has some talent and is certainly nice to look at, but she comes across as a nasty, strident, and not too bright piece of work. As Bill Buckley once said “I’d rather be governed by the first random 100 names out of the Cambridge phone book then by the faculty of Harvard University”.

Hannibal on August 26, 2009 at 7:30 pm

Ashley Judd would go broke waiting for me to spend money to see her on screen. Just another loud mouth liberal celebrity.

Sarah Orowitz on August 26, 2009 at 7:46 pm

Debbie, if that’s what feminists looked like, men wouldn’t try so hard to avoid them. I see AJ favors the left wing Credibility Scarf. I just hope she won’t be sporting a keffiyeh at her commencement address.

A1 on August 26, 2009 at 8:26 pm

I never went for my Ph.D. There is a point where one can be too overqualified. And I knew I didn’t need the bragging rights to tell others how smart I was. True intellect is more than showing you have an advanced degree.

My goodness! She dropped out of undergraduate school and claims to have some phony piece of paper 17 years later.

Can this be any more than a publicity stunt?

Please, bec, don’t wear fast cars. It’s dangerous. You could throw your back out. Even the tiniest sports cars can cause serious joint strain.

Oh no! Hollywood jet-setters and sluts going to graduate schools of government!

What could go wrong!

Shy Guy on August 27, 2009 at 12:35 am

I learned a long time ago about the “left” indoctrination that comes from Harvard- (old joke in Cambridge- “how do you get to Washington? go to Harvard and turn left…”). I went to the “other school” in Cambridge- you know- the one further down the river with the building that looks like a recumbant boob? lol…. anyway, while I was doing my externship for my SciD, my cousin Shirley, who had finished basic law at San Diego State, came to live with me to get her JD at Harvard. She had no problem with spending other people’s money (mine), mooching in general and she never saw a leftist cause she didn’t love as long as it didn’t cost her anything personally. While I was an undergrad at the Institute, I worked a full time job as a night manager at a 7-Eleven, and on weekends, waited tabels at a joint called the “Miracle of Science” (play on words for the “Museum of Science” (Part of,and largely funded by MIT), which was about as politically reprehensible to me as anything oould be. Let’s just say that The sight of a Slurpee and the smell of tofu and granola make me want to hurl to this day…

Get a job? Shirley? never… cant’ count the times I had to kick out her mooching friends hanging out in my apt, and eating like locusts, not to mention having to threaten to call the cops because of the stink of pot. Got tired of peeling and scraping her causist bumper stickers off MY car after she borrowed it… not to mention having to listen to the “diatribe” straight out of the “Handbook for useful idiots”….

To shorten the story, Shirley, when she completed her JD went back to San Diego and opened a Tiujana style divorce mill. Great application for a JD, right? Bought a Beemer Z3, borrowed 50K from my husband (we had just married) to start her practice, ran it into the ground and never repaid a dime.

This is no doubt the result of the “Harvard” way- share the wealth as long as it’s someone else’s. 😀

IHTFP- GO Beavers! LOL

I’ve never gotten the appeal of Ashley Judd. She’s just decent looking at best, but everyone talks like she’s this raving beauty. Her mother is much better looking, even her sis when she’s not a whale.

Never seen any of her movies (don’t care for chick flicks), but I love her interviews where she’s trying so-o-o-o harrrrrrd to sound intelligent the way she e-n-u-n-c-i-a-t-e-s every single syllable.

Her family is weird. I live in Nashville, and a few years ago her mother caused a ruckus at a restaurant when someone hired a male stripper for some bimbo’s birthday party. I don’t think the guy got completely nekkid, just stripped down to his briefs, but Naomi was dining in the restaurant at the time and apparently loudly complained about it. Normally I’d agree, but then, Ashley has gone full frontal nekkid a few times in movies, so it seems pretty hypocritical.

Lastly, I think we all know why she is going to Harvard. She knows the career is on the wane, so she wants to get publicity as some brainy woman to keep her name in the news. You can hear it now, “She’s talented, she’s beautiful, and SHE WENT TO HARVARD!!!!”

Jeff_W on August 27, 2009 at 9:41 am

She had one hit movie 10 years, she is over 40, her career is done. She is also very upset about wolf being shot in Alaska even it saves caribou. Her degree from U of K is in French something that really does require logic or problem solving ability. Please note a professor in French from Berkley tried to to induce Robert Oppenheimer to give away the nuclear secrets to the Commie.

madman on August 27, 2009 at 9:49 am

Ashley Judd is basically po’ white Kentucky trash who got lucky. Her sister is a beast and a drunk and her mother is a floozy who looks like a tranny. Ashley is the pretty one who thinks a grad degree will prevent her from going the way of her sister and mother.

There’s nothing worse than a Hollywood actress (think Julia Roberts and Demi Moore) try to compensate for their lack of education by using “big” words they don’t really feel comfortable using. They’re shallow lottery winners who realize they are basically stupid.

lexi on August 27, 2009 at 10:05 am

Pretty catty, Debbie. Do I detect a bit of jealousy in your article?

P.S. Sarah Palin comes off as a filthy lying piece of white trash. That’s why never get elected to any national office, except guest host of the Jerry Springer show.

Jim on August 27, 2009 at 10:07 am

Jimbo, you sound like a trashy troll!

    Alice L. on August 27, 2009 at 1:22 pm

You are much better off saving money going to a state-supported school and choosing conservative professors to take classes from. Ivy League schools are overrated.

Ashley Judd: What a bimbo. I heard her in an interview a few years ago and was so embarrassed for her. She was trying to use big words as if she had just learned them out of a Princeton Review course. She is typical liberal white trash: To prove that she is not white trash and to look smart, she acts like a liberal, thus proving she is actually dumb AND white trash.

JM on August 27, 2009 at 10:20 am

I see she is pursuing a degree in the Master in Public Administration (MC/MPA) program. A Public Administration degree. As I have seen it defined, this degree would allow you to obtain a job in the following areas:

Public administration can be defined as the implementation of policy by civil servants within an official government’s executive framework. Public administrators manage nearly every aspect of public service at the federal, state and local levels offering the opportunity to help shape the future.

Why would we want this charlatan help shape the future of any aspect of our society? Sounds like she wants to be a Community Organizer. When do you suppose she will get a position in Odopey’s administration? She’ll probably get a position just by attending one semester. There’s no need for her to graduate, look at all of the other fools that serve in Odopey’s MOB of miscreants and thugs.

Also, how much of the actual course work do you think she will do herself without someone else doing it for her? I know a few people who obtained graduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, another Ivy league school. If you have enough money and know the right people, receiving a degree is a certainty.

Jarhead on August 27, 2009 at 11:08 am

The comments have been very entertaining, but now you’re scaring me Jarhead.

Community organizer? Are you saying she, too, could become President?

      goldenmike4393 wrote:

“Community organizer? Are you saying she, too, could become President?”

Well, let’s look at her credentials
      – She supported a community organizing, commie sympathizing, extreme leftist for President – Odopey
      – She’s pro-choice (pro baby killing) and supports NARAL
      – Criticizes sportsman’s legal right to hunt wild animals – which means she may be pro gun control
      – Is a manmade global warming hoax zealot – Can you say Cap and Trade
      – Starred in a promoting illegal immigration legalization – could mean she is for this as well

Does any of this sound familiar? Can you say B. Hussein Obama?
Sorry to scare you goldenmike4393, but it seems anything is possible in these times of turmoil in the U.S. for control of the direction of our culture and the political landscape.

Ha ha ha….Jim, you must have not read Debbie’s previous comments about Sarah Palin.

Besides, why would Debbie be jealous of Judd? I’m not saying this because this is La Deb’s site, but Debbie is smarter and much hotter in my opinion.

Jeff_W on August 27, 2009 at 11:32 am

I did read Debbie’s comments on Palin. She agrees with me, unlike most GOP-types. Sorry, but that image (which may be unfair, except the liar part) is the reason she’s dead last of the three current major GOP candidates. She has a good body, I’ll admit, and can be one of the boys (probably), but her hair style doesn’t do much for me.

I would take her over Debbie, though (sorry, Debbie). I also spent a few years at U of M. Arguing about which school has the hotter women (in general) is like arguing about whether the Titanic or the Lusitania sunk faster.

Jim on August 27, 2009 at 11:55 am

There’s something about Harvard and Communists! I had a roommate – 2 master’s degree from Harvard and he was a devoted member of the socialist workers party. Before that he was a Maoist. These over educated Harvard grads work at sweat shops, canning factories, airline food processing, so they can educate the working class people to join the revolution.

Whatever you may say about Naiomi Judd, she is a staunch pro lifer. Ashley, however, is a disgusting pro abort. Best comment about Ashley (at the stupid “March for Women’s Lives [abortions]” rally a few years ago: “Keep your hands off my body” (Ashley shouted). Response: “That’s the first time she’s said that in years!” She is also immoral and has given interview bragging about the number of times she has sex. Thanks for sharing, Ashley!

Alice L. on August 27, 2009 at 1:17 pm

“Kiss the Girls” (1997) based on the Robert Patterson novel, starring Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman, was a pretty good private detective flick. You gotta admit it. Plus, Ashley may be politically outspoken in the wrong ways, but she’s great-looking. It runs in the Judd family genes.

Waaaaaaa friggin Waaaaaa. If I lived in Alaska, I’d hunt the wolves too. Guess what? It is LEGAL to hunt wolves in Alaska. I guess next you will be crying over the poor elk, bear and caribou that are also legal to be hunted in Alaska. If you don’t like it, go change the law. Until then, shut your pie hole. I guess I am just another piece of scum NRA gun toting hunter. Are you one of those gun control freaks?

As the legendary Charlton Heston said, “I’ll give you my gun when you take it from my cold, dead hands!”

Jarhead on August 27, 2009 at 8:18 pm

Yeah jarhead you’re correct – I think hunters are a big bunch of pussy’s. I personally like a fair fight, “Equal and willing”. That’s why I love mixed martial arts fighting. Want to fuck up the balance of nature, get humans involved. Why not, we’ve fucked up everything else. I enjoyed my kills in Nam – we both had weapons and we were “equal and willing” participants. Get the picture dumbass?

It is very obvious that you don’t hunt noe spend time in the bush, as much as I like Wolves especially the Timber Wolf,, there are times you have to cull a few, just like any other animal, you get too many? You get disease that can sread like wildefire unless you cull. Please educate yourself before you sound like a trypical leftist useful idiot who’s motto is ” I feel, therefore I am “

Uncle Dan on August 27, 2009 at 10:15 pm

Where is the need for your vulgar attack on Naomi Judd? Politically, she’s 180 degrees from her daughter and, from what I understand, a practicing Christian. You might want to rethink such comments.

jenna on August 27, 2009 at 10:33 pm

Jarhead on August 28, 2009 at 2:18 am

Naomi Judd may be a practicing Christian but she did abandon Ashley to go on the road with Wynonna. What kind of Christian is that? And she look like a petite drag queen. Ashley probably hates her mother, deep down. Which may explain her idiotic behavior.

I am telling my child (who is very smart) “Don’t waste your time applying to Harvard – they accept idiot/celebrities.” When I applied to grad school, I noticed that Harvard had turned down some good students and many of the ones that they had accepted ended up dropping out. Their judgment is not so great.

goldenmike4393 on August 28, 2009 at 7:04 pm

Wow, these comments are filled with resentment. Aside from Ms. Schlussel, whom I believe is smart and sexy and is secure enough in her self-worth to not need to over-credentialize –I made up that word, you goofs!– most of you would give a testicle and-or an ovary to get to attend Yale or Princeton or Harvard or Columbia or even Cornell or Brown or Dartmouth.

Right-wing phoney-baloney populism and anti-elite education is so pathetic. We all know you guys are so insecure with the credentials you currently have.

Please enlighten us as to your credentials. Where did you go to school, what was your major, and what was your GPA? Did you go to Harvard? By your screen name, BMW, you probably had all expences paid by mommy and daddy and drove a top of the line car at school, again paid for by mommy and daddy.

Also, as to “you guys”, why do you dump everyone that has a differing opinion from you into one catagory? How do you know what education I have, or anyone else here for that matter? Is it that if you do have a degree from Harvard, you are actually the insecure one by having to flaunt around your education to everyone to justify your position in life?

Jarhead on August 29, 2009 at 11:10 am

By the way, Ms. Schlussel, don’t knock Harvard per se –it is the Kennedy School that is considered a bit of a joke throughout the university. Cut the other schools and departments some slack, will you?

BMW on August 28, 2009 at 8:28 pm

So you could have gone to Harvard, huh, Debbie? Impresive.

Bitter Scribe on August 28, 2009 at 9:45 pm

I doubt Debbie could have gotten into Harvard. Her ugly face would have led to an earthquake.

Harvard Grad on August 30, 2009 at 1:27 pm

Jarhead, your post proves my point. Your resentment oozes from your pores. It doesn’t matter where I went to school (by the way, I went to a state university in Montana).

You appear to need a better learning environment, jarhead, because everything you wrote is way off the mark. Your reasoning skills are very much in short supply.

Ha! Loser.

BMW on August 30, 2009 at 10:19 pm

BMW – guess what? I went to a very well known university that is top ranked for its academic standards. You are right, however, I despise people who think that their pedigree gives them the right to look down on others. It is not resentment that motivates what I wrote, it is that people who have been given everything in life and come from a certain family think that they are entitled to their life of privilege, and therefore are better than others.

As to reasoning skills, I am up to the challenge of comparing mine to yours. I graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree and made the dean’s list 6 semesters. What did you do in college?

Jarhead on August 31, 2009 at 2:06 am

BMW- I didn’t go to college at all, so does that mean that I’m a person of less worth than someone who did? I don’t care what people choose to do WRT their education, but I do get angry when people think you cannot be intelligent or educated without college. My mother and my husband are two of the smartest people I have ever known, and neither of them went to college, so do not think that a degree automatically makes you smart or more worthwhile than someone who does not have one. FWIW, I do plan on going to community college (then to FSU…probably not a “good enough” university to some but I don’t care) for a degree in agriculture..which is probably also not considered “good enough”, but I do not base my worth as a person on where I went to school or by my degree (or lack of one). It is meaningless fluff and should not be a yardstick by which you judge people.

But I have noticed that it is the “love everyone, everyone is a special little snowflake” liberals that are the biggest elitist hypocrites, so take that for what it’s worth.
