The Politically Correct Oscars: From Jew-Hating “Ida” to Race-Baiting John Legend to Amnesty Fan Innaritu

By Debbie Schlussel

From the Oscar going to openly anti-Semitic movie, “Ida,” to John Legend accusing America of now trying to take away the Black vote, to the “Birdman” director using his Oscar win as a platform to pimp us on illegal alien amnesty, last night’s was one of the most politically correct, leftist Academy Awards in years. And, yes, while “American Sniper” is an anti-war movie (and its director, Clint Eastwood, says so; so does Rosie O’Donnell), it got snubbed by Oscar because it’s now perceived as a right-wing pro-American film. And Oscar can’t have that. Amid the boring, predictable Oscar winners were the boring, predictable Oscar PC lectures.

twitteroscars15
twitteroscars15a

If you haven’t yet made the move to follow me on Twitter, you missed my commentary, last night, about the “Oscars,” which were more overtly far-left than you might realize. Oh, and as I pointed out, they snubbed Joan Rivers from the “In Memoriam” segment, probably because she was openly pro-Israel, a proud Jew, and a proud critic of the Obamas. And we can’t have that. Also, John Travolta and that obvious rug?! Can we talk? I was wondering who the official vacuum cleaner sponsor of Vinnie Barbarino’s rug was.

The clothes were classy. The sentiment uttered from the stage wasn’t. I didn’t need to hear every political viewpoint of every idiot who ever made a movie and got a politically correct gold statue. But, unfortunately, those idiots thought so.

Muslim cop-hating racist rapper Common (a fave Obama White House guest) and John Legend got to sing their stupid song and then got awarded for it, even though it was probably the worst song nominated. Glen Campbell, who is dying of Alzheimer’s Diseases and whose song (from the documentary, “Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me”–read my review) was far better, got screwed in the name of affirmative action. But PC always wins. Almost always, anyway. Then, I was forced to hear Legend tell us how bad America–which has made him a multi-millionaire and wealthy beyond his wildest dreams–is. He lectured us about all the Black men in prison (most of them for committing crimes against other Blacks, about whom Legend apparently doesn’t care). Then, he told us that America wants to take voting rights away from Blacks. Um, they do? Funny, ‘cuz I don’t see the Obama Justice Department moving in that direction. On the contrary, they protect the Black Panthers in their intimidation efforts of all voters. But you won’t hear that from John Legend.

I had to hear “Birdman” director Alejandro González Iñárritu lecture us about how we in America need to treat this latest generation of Mexican immigrants (he meant illegal aliens) as well as we treated the previous wave of them (he meant amnesty). Funny how he isn’t lecturing his own country, Mexico, to treat illegal aliens as well as they are treated in America. In Mexico, unlike here, they mean business about immigration. They protect their borders. It’s only a one way street into Consquistadorica a/k/a American. Not the other way around.

I was forced to listen to Patricia Arquette whining about how the leftists don’t pay women the same as they pay men, all while they pretend the bad guys who hate women are those of us in Red State flyover country. But she didn’t mention that second part–about how Hollywood hypocrites blame us for this. Blah, blah, blah. Free market, bitch. Get it? Got it? Good. Your movie was a gimmicky reality show about a dumb idiotette who marries three losers, two of whom are alcoholic wife-beaters. Look in the mirror, moronette. We have equal rights. The equal right to make a dumb movie and collect accolades for this three-hour drivel.

And then there’s “Ida” (read my review), a horrible movie–the message of which is that all Jews are unhappy sluts and Communists who help kill people and that it is better to be Catholic (the choice of the woman in the movie who discovers she is Jewish). I guess I can’t totally fault Oscar for picking Jew-hatred, when the phony mooch in the name of fighting Jew-hatred, David Horowitz, is pimping this disgusting movie on his Frontpage Mag screed site and allows a Polish Jew-hater to gush on and on about the virtues of this movie on Horowitz’s site. It figures that “Ida” won over anti-jihadist film, “Timbuktu.”

“Boyhood”–a gimmicky reality show. Predictable. J.K. Simmons for Best Supporting Actor. As a member of the Detroit Film Critics Society, I already voted for him back in December. And so on. More boredom you don’t need to be a psychic to see. My favorite accessory at Oscar–other than John Travolta’s new Persian-rug-atop-head–was that Yale bulldog on leftie Gwyneth Paltrow. Oh, wait, that was a giant accoutrement on her dress, which is supposed to be a flower or something. It looked like your ethnic grandma bought this tackiness at Chico’s. I tweeted that, and got attacked for being a bigot because I used the words, “ethnic boater grandma.” Um, I am an ethnic. I’m not allowed to say so? Not that my grandmothers dressed this way. Both were very chic in their dress, but . . . .

So, to sum up, proud Jews like Joan Rivers, bad. Movies perceived to be patriotic and pro-American, even worse. Illegal alien amnesty, feminism, race-baiting, and head-carpeting good.

Thanks for the lesson, Oscar. Like I needed it.

Hey, maybe this is why Michael Keaton didn’t win:

I like Keaton because he’s a fellow PGH native and seems like a nice guy, but he has only performed and is only capable of performing one character, just in varying degrees.

DS_ROCKS! on February 23, 2015 at 12:51 pm

Did I watch it?

No – I haven’t watched the Oscars since I was in college. Movies today are crap.

Apart from Debbie, there are no serious movie critics and no movie that doesn’t seem to push a liberal viewpoint on us making it to the box office.

Any film perceived as right wing is dead with the so-called mainstream critics.

The Oscars are Obama’s America or least the America of Obama’s nightmare.

All the classy tuxedos and evening gowns don’t conceal the fact America is in decline. And Hollywood and the popular culture, despite their orgy of self-congratulations, have greatly contributed to it.

In short, I missed out on nothing by not turning on my TV last night.

NormanF on February 23, 2015 at 1:08 pm

I think Joseph McCarthy was on to something.

John the infidel on February 23, 2015 at 1:51 pm

I have liked some of Legend’s music, but now that I know he’s a race baiter, idiot, and spokesman for the “oppressed,” I will turn the dial if he’s on the radio. Just because you have fame does not necessarily mean you have knowledge. People that give credence to these a-holes are clueless.

WilliamMunny on February 23, 2015 at 2:02 pm

I don’t care for pseudo activists either. We know John Legend is no civil rights crusader. I hate when people pretend they are and have to make some bumbling speech like they are soo involved. Its such a fraudulent act.
If he was a true crusader and this is what he was about, then like most activists he would be getting on our nerves all the time, this was fake. The prison reference, what was his point, honestly, what was the point? That is when you know he is a fraud in this regard, your point is pointless and makes no sense, but I guess that makes you “Down” with the team. Hell IDK.

Stick to singing John, you do that well. You perform well, but stop the civil rights grandstanding. Stop!

Huh? on February 23, 2015 at 2:55 pm

…watched for about 10 minutes (all I could stand); was happy to see the supporting actor go to JK Simmons…don’t know why, but I like that guy. Came back later to see and hear Arquette’s speech (jeebus, what a twit)…that killed it for me. What I did see was predictable and boring, but was sorry to have missed Lady Gaga’s performance (saw today)… (beyond that) and they wonder why Hollywood’s dying.

billygoat on February 23, 2015 at 3:40 pm

I don’t think Joan Rivers being omitted from the tribute segment had anything to do with her being a “proud Jew”, since most of the people who run the film industry tend to be Jewish themselves. It probably had more to do with Rivers being a shallow, superficial dog who ripped on people for the way they looked, like the time she made the joke that suggested that Kate Winslet was fat, just because she wasn’t bone-thin. I mean, I’m sorry Rivers died, but the truth was, she just wasn’t a very good person.

Bryan R. on February 23, 2015 at 4:06 pm

Foolish post by Byron R. They can memorialize anyone they want, especially someone of River’s stature, just like they can give speeches on anything they want.

Yes, many in Hollywood are Jewish, but they are liberals first, and Jews second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth.

Personalities? Like lots of Hollywood honorees have had pleasant personalities? Come on, now!

John the Infidel has a very good point. As it happens, Joe McCarthy had little to do with the cleansing of Hollywood in the late 40s. It was primarily the House Un-American Activities Committee — McCarthy was in the Senate during that time, and not particularly active in opposing Communism until 1950, but the general point by John is excellent.

I once more recommend the new book by Allan H. Ryskind, Hollywood Traitors for anyone who wants to learn more about the Communists in Hollywood during the earlier interwar era, especially since those traitors are idolized and honored by the anti-Americans in Hollywood today.

Little Al on February 23, 2015 at 5:07 pm

Also worth noting is that persons who have interfaced with Joan Rivers personally have found her, virtually without exception to be courteous and gracious. Debbie has commented on this in past posts.

Little Al on February 23, 2015 at 5:47 pm

DS, I to didn’t watch the Oscars last night, because I’d anticipate that it’ll be mediocre at worst, and it was as you stated in the OT’s writings that it “stank” to high-heaven.

I don’t know WTF John Legend is bitching about, to me, Mr. Legend is not only a race-monger, but also more likely a conspiracy-theorist, since he bought up a conspiracy of “black people’s voting rights are being curtailed”, I’d like for Mr. Legend to provide some empirical evidence to the table from reputable and viable sources that such stuff are occurring?

Oh and Legend committed a certain logical-fallacy of bringing up such rubbish of “blacks votes are being stolen”, where he did an “anecdotal/anecdote”. If you’re saying such stuff that may sound outrageous or extreme, you better try your best to provide proof to back up your argument, otherwise, you’ll be dismissed as a “kook” and a “loon”!

Sean R. on February 23, 2015 at 4:08 pm

The reason why Joan Rivers was not in the “In Memoriam” segment was that in order to be on there, you have to be a voting member of the Academy, which Joan Rivers was not. Same reason why Farah Fawcett was not on there a while ago and others too. It had nothing to do with politics.

As for “Ida”, it was not anti-semitic. If someone was raised Catholic, and all of a sudden they find out they are Jewish, do you really expect them to just change and become Jewish? I don’t think so.

Edward on February 23, 2015 at 4:13 pm

From John Legend to Ida , many of the hate filled rhethoric displayed at the Oscars seemed to be a result of the propaganda campaign from commentors at media outlets like msnbc (legend’s lie about USA’s prison record, ‘Ida’ scategoating Israel , etc )
There needs to be much more competition to the Media/Hollywood industry for the sake of truth and actual fairness.

An astonishing, heart ripping song by Glen Campbell. Should have won.

But that would have required class and decency.

Occam's Tool on February 23, 2015 at 5:04 pm

I no longer watch most Hollywood movies. But, thanks to Debbie, I will be voting for the Razzies in 2016. She throws herself on the grenades, and the wife and I get to vote! Cool, eh?

Occam's Tool on February 23, 2015 at 5:06 pm

I don’t watch the Oscars but of course I hear the commentary. Patricia Arquette’s dopey speech made me sick. What a tired & untrue meme. Not all women who give birth are mothers…many are motherf*****s. Check out my hashtag #BadMums on twitter if you don’t believe me. Plus, she started out as a single mum & those jerks should NEVER be lauded. I’m tired of feminist horsesh**. But that fairy tale still sells in 2015 with all the rest of the um-gala-gala! Plus, she was omitting all the women who have never had kids…guess she can discriminate & no one else can. She is the last fool I’d ever listen to. Figures she’s a feminist. I wouldn’t have thought so if I was still a feminist! I hated chicks like that when I was!

And I wanna comment on JK Simmons. Everyone knows that man’s face & there was even a great doco on character actors like him (he was in it) who Hollywood kept on the back-burner. Now that he has won an Oscar are we suppose to enjoy that Hollywood is letting the talented gent into their club? It makes me sick…his talent was always there but now we have to recognize him (when we have all along) just because Hollyweirdo has let him into their exclusive club? Eff U, Hollywood. I really hate how they act like talent isn’t static & it only shines when THEY want it to shine. Those potentate poseurs are the biggest crop of phonies since the disgusting cliques we all hated in High School. Too bad “Carrie” didn’t go to the Oscars!

I just had to say that because talent is talent & I don’t wait for Hollyweirdo to tell me when it’s ok to recognize it.

Skunky on February 23, 2015 at 6:13 pm

Aw, thanks Skzion! This topic revs me up & when that happens I think creatively…& humourously so I don’t lose my mind! 😀

Skunky on February 23, 2015 at 7:54 pm

Didn’t watch the Oscars. Haven’t in 3 decades…like the Grammy’s or other awards shows, rarely does what I enjoy for entertainment ever get recognized and lastly, I detest being lectured by the ‘beautiful’ projecting their ugliness upon flyover. I’ll listen to Country Music, vote Republican, watch FOX News Channel and b>I’ll buy my pitchforks, tar and feathers from Wal-Mart.

P. Aaron on February 23, 2015 at 6:14 pm

The last time I watched the Oscars David Niven got an eye full from a streaker.

John the infidel on February 23, 2015 at 6:55 pm

If John Legend cares so much about justice for the black community why is he married to a white woman?

Barbara on February 23, 2015 at 7:01 pm

I did not want the stephen hawking film to win. An israeli boycotted who woukd jump at the chance if an israeli cured his disease.
The show was boring and lacks the class of decades ago. At least I got to watch the walking dead. Much more entertaining.

Glen Benjamin on February 23, 2015 at 7:59 pm

Why watch leftist morons do an award show.. no thanks.

Jesse on February 23, 2015 at 9:03 pm

I taped the show and sped through the junk. But I have to say that Lady Gaga did a good job and may have rescued her career.

Ms. Arquette gave the most PC stupid idiotic speech of the night. We brought equal rights for women to other countries, now it’s time to have equal rights in this country? Are you kidding me. The most offensive speech was Legend’s.

The trend every year is more leftism revealed in the show and in Hollywood. Hollywood is dying, albeit slowly. Most of their movies are crap and attack America, Christianity, conservatives, Republicans, etc. No wonder the superhero and Marvel and DC movies do well – they emphasize courage, strength, honor, individual talents, and defeating evil. What would Tony Stark say to Obama if Obama told him, you didn’t build that Iron Man suit? He wouldn’t have to say anything – the audience would laugh at Obama.

Concerned Citizen on February 23, 2015 at 9:36 pm

I watched it. And, by my scientific method, (NASA Style), I calculated that the carbon foot-print was far greater than cow farts. California should have a Proposition put forth to ban Hollywood’s self adulation in the name of climate warming, global change, er, whatever.

nadie on February 23, 2015 at 9:45 pm

What are the Academy Awards? I’m no longer familiar with them. I don’t follow them. I don’t care.

I don’t go to movies. Who needs movies when there’s the Daytona 500!

Joan Rivers doesn’t need recognition from the Academy Awards if one has faith in The Creator. Was she in any movies? I don’t know. I was familiar with Joan Rivers from television. Hopefully, the Emmy Awards will recognize her.

Other than that, the column and the tweets don’t seem important to me. I watched the Daytona 500 Sunday and went to bed early. Even Mrs. TINSC skipped the Academy Awards and she used to be interested in them.

Movies suck! That’s just my opinion.

One word of warning. I’m in the A/E biz. A buddy of mine (He does a lot of movie theater design.) told me that movie theater owners are spending money again (on capital improvements to their theater properties) in anticipation of a big summer at the box office. The rationale is that the lower price of gasoline will free up discretionary spending and cause movie theater attendance to grow this summer.

Just thought I’d throw that out there since I think Deb’s column is irrelevant. My attitude may not be shared by others. Deb’s column may have more relevance than I give credit for.

In the meantime, I remain quite dis-interested in the Academy Awards. It’s a crummy show about crummy movies.

Sincerely,

There is NO Santa Claus (aka TINSC)

Debbie, thanks for the post. I’m not a twitter user and am a luddite so I did not catch your Joan Rivers comment on Twitter before I posted yesterday. You know by now that I’m reliable. There is a pro Palestinian dedication/statement/poster – I can’t remember which, in Birdman. Not shocking, right. Since I won’t be seeing it again and will not see this antisemetic directors work again, I can’t get more specific. My husband noticed it too. He hated the film. Maybe one of your readers can enlighten us.

Susan on February 24, 2015 at 9:12 am

You perfectly summed it up! I was disappointed that Virunga didn’t win for documentary. Very dismayed that Joan Rivers, was dissed! I loved Lady Gaga’s numbers. The rest you covered. Funny that it’s all the far left who make the decision of how much the paychecks are.

Nancy Brenner on February 24, 2015 at 9:27 am

I haven’t watched this propaganda fest for so long, I think Clark Gable was still alive. Anyway, it’s no small wonder that the audience keeps shrinking. After being lectured to all day, who needs to take it from half and nitwits that can’t string together two words if they’er not written, with crayons, on huge cue cards? I feel for you, Debbie.

JeffT on February 24, 2015 at 11:13 am

I don’t even consider watching this tripe. I just look forward to what Debbie is going to say about it the next day.

corncoleo on February 24, 2015 at 11:19 am

Debbie you just said almost everything that I was thinking about the yearly 3 hour gag fest aka the Oscars. The numbers have come out and there was a 16% viewership drop from when that smiling, dancing idiot Ellen hosted last year. From the snippets I’ve seen ole Doogie Howser stank like day old cheese hosting the Hollyweird I love me blabathon. From stupid racist (Common, Legend- I swear if I hear that stupid song he wrote about his wife on more time…)to pretentious nitwits (Arquette- Is there no brother sister team in Hollyweird who doesn’t share a brain because her brother David is just as moronic). I hope that her new show CSI Cyber bombs bigger than that dumb show with leftwing grease head Janeane Garofalo Criminal Minds Suspect Behavior. It was also too bad that they left out Joan Rivers in the memorandum segment. The Academy of Nincompoops said that they didn’t have time to add her or some stupid reason. No time! The show’s three freaking hours long. Like you said Debbie thou shall not make fun of Hollyweirds lord and savior Obama the Lazy and Flatulous. Until the Oscars stop being a platform for halfwit actors to spew their various nonsense and they stop hiring dumbass host this show will continue to slide into oblivion. Which is just fine with me.

Ken B on February 24, 2015 at 12:35 pm

The last time I watched this show had to be 35-40 years ago.

These people were important to me then. But I was young and foolish, especially to make them of such importance. But I had no identity of my own, and was in search of one for a long time, too long.

Then I grew up and found one, and the people who inhabited Hollywood became more Hollyweird with each passing decade. Sure, the venue’s always had its whack jobs, gays and lesbians that no one knew about, druggies, drunks and those with a heavy political bent. But they weren’t so harmful to the rest of us back then.

Nowadays, these increasingly whacky people who almost to a person have forgotten where they came from, help the government run our lives. Gwyneth Paltrow and Michelle Obama are going to see to it that Mrs. O’s husband will take away your hamburgers, steaks and whole wheat bread, and replace them with tempeh burgers and gluten free everything. Forget about all the eggs, ice cream, butter and heavy cheese I eat. Gone from the shelves, real soon.

Liberalism, which is embodied in Hollywood, is of Satan. Conservatism is of God. That is the only reason that can be why the Republicrats now walk lock step with the Demmicans, and Hollywood people are increasingly turning to politics.

Satan knows his time is short. Since we have kicked God out of society, Satan has to use different tactics on the United States. And we WILL be brought down because it says so in the Bible. That’s the only way to fulfull the things that will happen to bring Jesus back. And He MUST come back, because this is nuts already.

In the immortal words of the late, great Bob Grant, “I really gotta get outta here.” LOL!!! But suicide is not an option.

But LIBERALISM IS a tactic of the devil. Look at what liberalism is. Self serving, irrational, because the goal posts always get moved, i.e. global warming becomes climate change, there is no end game but chaos, and chaos is sure to ensue.

The United States is being brought down by secular humanist people who are the embodiment of the term. The exaltation of man, and where does it exist more than in Hollywood? And now we don’t just have the Oscars. And I know we’ve always had the Emmys and Tonys.

But now we have The Hip Hop Meets County Hee Haw Rappa Smoke-A-Thon by Roc-A-Fella Awards.

Nothing but self congratulatory exercises by people who are just as Skunky so aptly put it about the cliques, making us nothing but a laughing stock in the eyes of the world. And are also fulfilling Satan’s purpose, thankfully a temporary one, but horrible just the same.

Prepare to die horribly, all 330 million people in America, to face chaos, be incinerated, beheaded, live in horrifying chaos, perhaps to be carted off to a faraway place to serve as a slave to certain people. America is gone, and the way Hollywood continues to puff itself up, and be propped up by people still willing to pour money in to their projects, while their ratings go plummeting down, is quite telling.

Prepare to die, . . .

tomorrow. Very depressing. I hate the times we live in.

I’m a big fan of Ken B’s posts! He writes in the way I really enjoy reading! 😀

Ken, you mentioned Doogie Howser…I meant to mention in my post that BEFORE he came ‘out’ he didn’t go around acting the fool & being naked everywhere. Now that he’s out, he can’t keep his clothes on & disgraces himself.

Now, I’m gonna put this in a way as NOT to offend our gay Conservative friends because gay people ARE Conservatives too, but people like NPH do more to make people detest Libtard gays because they feed into the stereotype…the one that is absolutely true for political libtard gays.

I resent it. He’s not endearing gays to people if he’s always acting in a sexual way…that is a legitimate complaint people have against gays because it’s TRUE for a majority. But not all and I would not want to have a tool & fool like NPH being a ‘representative’ for my group. But you can’t put down that protected class in 2015. But I just did because I am tired of that sort. They are an embarrassment & not just to non-gays!

Skunky on February 24, 2015 at 6:18 pm

Thank you very much for those kind words Skunky. Your posts too are very good reads and are informative. I for one just like to call a spade a spade (is that racist, don’t hate me John Legend)especially when you have dimwits like Kevin Spacey saying that the nontesticular GOP in Congress have blocked his hero Obama from doing anything for us little people. Someone should tell that moron and others like him that it’s been the democrats lead by the gym equipment challenged doofus Reid that have blocked legitimate legislation from coming to the Senate floor. As far as Neil Patrick Harris goes I used to like him back on DH MD but like you said when he came “out” he flipped out. Now he’s just another annoying liberal gay guy pushing the envelope. Go away already and take Ellen with you.

I didn’t watch the Oscars. I missed nothing. Its been apparent for years that the neolib PC people are bad news for America.
They will not be missed when the pendulum swings the other way.
However, we Yanks should be glad we are HERE and not in other countries, except perhaps, the few democracies that tolerate genuine diversity, without much hypocrisy. There are probably only 1 or 2 such countries in Europe, eh…?
