OUTRAGE: Bowe Bergdahl’s Dad Praises allah, Makes Islamic Declaration, Calls For Release of All Gitmo Terrorists; Did Bergdahl Convert to Islam?

By Debbie Schlussel

**** UPDATE: The American Soldiers Who Died for Bowe Bergdahl; Why Won’t He Be Punished for Their Deaths? & More Questions ****

All Americans who care about freedom should be disgusted when the father of a freed American soldier uses an Islamic greeting, referring to allah, and on the grounds of the White House, no less. And they should also be disgusted when that father calls for the release of all terrorists. That’s what Bowe Bergdahl’s father, Bob, did at yesterday’s Obama White House press conference announcing the release of his son. And it’s what he said in a since-deleted tweet (I’m sure the Obamaniks told him to take it down). Saying his freed son could not speak English, Bob Bergdahl said from the White House, “bismillah al-rahman al-rahim,” Arabic for, “in the name of allah the most gracious, the most merciful.” (This is not Pashtu, as FOX News dolt-ette Jennifer Griffin inaccurately and erroneously reported. It’s Arabic. And it’s ISLAMIC.) See the video, below:

bobbergdahlwhitehousestfu

And here’s what he said on Twitter (“ameen” is amen in Arabic and Islam, by the way–this Bergdahl dad really seems to be down wit da Islamic “struggle”) in response to the tweet of Taliban spokesterrorist, Abdulqahar Balkhi:

bobbergdahltweet

Really? Five killer masterminds with close ties to Al-Qaeda and Bin Laden are being released to plan the murders of more Americans, just as they’ve already killed many Americans–Americans who will never be released alive to freedom like Bergdahl, because they are now six feet under. And this man has the gall to invoke Islam and an Islamic saying that is specifically meant to declare that allah–the Islamic god–is the supreme god? And he has the chutzpah to act as an apologist to Taliban murderers for Afghan children . . . when the Taliban has deliberately murdered far more Afghan children than were accidentally killed in accidents of war by America? There is something very wrong with that. This guy, Bob Bergdahl is a schmuck and a traitor.

We are fighting an enemy that is at war with us, an enemy that held this man’s son in captivity for five years in the name of their deadly religion. And, apparently, it is not bad enough that five of the worst murderous terrorists-in-chief were released so his son could be free. He must also make declarations proclaiming the supremacy of the terrorists’ religion and god. And, then, he has the chutzpah to say the other Gitmo terrorists who murdered other Americans, unlike his son who is alive and free, should be released and we need to repent for Aghan children?! Screw him. Someone needs to serve him a giant glass of STFU juice.

I wonder: did Bob Bergdahl always have that silly hipster/Outlaw Bikers beard or did he grow it out of deference to Islam, Muslims, and his son’s Taliban former captors?

And it begs the question I already raised earlier today: did Bowe Bergdahl convert to Islam? It’s weird that an American would be unable to communicate in English after a few years in Taliban captivity or that American’s father communicates with him in Arabic, NOT the language of the terrorists who held his son for five years, but the language of the religion in the name of which they held him.

Disgusting. Disgraceful. And, yet, nobody cares, it seems.

The ghosts of those Americans murdered in Afghanistan in the bombings and assassinations plotted by the five men (and their many minions) released in exchange for Bowe Bergdahl are crying out and remain unheard. The wails of those ghosts–as Bob Bergdahl makes declarations in support of Islam and a the giant Gitmo pinata filled with terrorists from the ground of the White House–are apparently like a dog whistle.

They are unheard by American human ears. They are forgotten and their memories are ignored.

Went to bed and heard about this. Took a minute and found out this freed “soldier” was a full on convert to islam. Drones should be whirling around their house and mosque. Pops is a scum bag too, how hard is that to figure out. But Boner will put a halt to all this madness for sure. The media seems side tracked by the issue of trading a soldier for five taliban scum generals which is bad enough, but nothing about the way sonny boy was “captured” and had all the anti American communications daddy scum bag espouses. An ACLU wet dream. Speaking of dreams, how about all the dreamers getting dumped on AZ like a thumb in Gov Brewers and Joe Arpaios eyes. It’s a great second term huh libs.Yeah then they come out with a new use of force policy. Another day of avoiding the news. Sad damn days.

Bergdahl is not really the problem. He can’t do anything without Mr. President.

Frankz on June 1, 2014 at 12:00 pm

The USA should take a page from Israel and NEVER negotiate with terrorists.
Read that the father grew a beard and learned Arabic to communicate with his son when he was set free.
Read that Bowe was a deserter, converted to Islam and taught his captors bomb making techniques with the use of a cell phone as a trigger.
He should be charged and not welcomed home as a “hero”!

PaulaMalka on June 1, 2014 at 12:49 pm

Israel negotiates with terrorists regularly by doing massive prisoner swaps. They release many terrorists for one Jewish soldier. It’s disgusting and now we’re doing it in the US, sadly.

halevi on June 1, 2014 at 3:58 pm

After 5 years in captivity, couldn’t the U.S. Air Force fly his Mother to meet him in the German hospital? He will probably spend long weeks there, you Americans have no compassion for mentally wounded parents.

Israel would never trade anybody for an Israeli traitor!

It's just me again on June 2, 2014 at 2:33 pm

Many comments here condemn the actions of the US government for bringing this ‘traitor’ home. Got some experience with captured soldiers and there is no way you can blame them personally for joining up with the other side, if you think differently i would like to invite you to the side of our enemy for just one week.. the sheer death fears you’ll have make you do anything, if done consistently, torture works. Now for the dad, he has bin captured just as well, only psychologically, but the effects where the same, he cares for his son and will do anything to make his return easier, even learning a other language and switching faiths, that is just miraculous and beautiful to me.

Not US citizen but EU. on June 2, 2014 at 5:30 am

To “Not US citizen but EU”: Yes, the US has great compassion for soldiers who have been taken as prisoners of war but a soldier who deliberately deserts his post and his comrades and willingly consorts with the enemy is a traitor.
Bowe Bergdahl had a very unconventional upbringing with very unconventional parents. His jihadi like bearded father, appeared at a news conference dressed in an all black outfit complete with the Taqiyah, the skull cap worn by devout Muslim males, and he spoke to his son in Pashto.
Bowe often made derogatory, hateful remarks about the US and because of his desertion, 6 other US soldiers were killed.
Would you be calling for understanding if Bowe had conspired with the Nazi’s during WW2? Would you condemn his father for speaking German and praising Hitler’s “mercy?”
      This situation is no different.

uleaveuswithnoalternative on June 2, 2014 at 8:08 pm

Correction: Israel’s past position not to negotiate with terrorists.

PaulaMalka on June 1, 2014 at 12:58 pm

love your post and agree but Israel has done plenty of “prisoner swaps” (releases of future and repeat terrorists in many cases)

Any of these shenanigans fall under the heading of giving aid and comfort to the enemy? Not that it matters in AfrolabadSouthAmerAsiexico anymore.

Oh, Debbie, speaking of Navy SEAL’s, we’ve got a lot less of them now, don’t we? I mean, wasn’t Team 6, the ones that took out bin Laden, loaded on to a 50 year old helicopter that crashed, killing them all? I think there’s only one or two of Team 6 left, those who weren’t on that fateful flight. Nothing from the mainstream media.

Oh, but Melissa Etheridge married her “partner” and Victoria’s Secret model Adriana Lima recently had sex with Justin Bieber.

Frankz on June 1, 2014 at 1:28 pm

Hitlary Rotten Cu_ton is a shoo-in, Frank. Let’s go through some points as to why.

Well, there’s voter fraud. We KNOW that ONE old black lady was found in Illinois who voted for The Muslim-In-Chief SIX TIMES in November 2012. We know that where there’s smoke, there’s fire, so if one was found, that means there are thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands more, that were not found.

We have heard, and I believe firmly, that SEIU knows how to program voting machines to register “Democrat” when the person tried to vote Republican.

We know that Hitlary is a darling of even more people than The Teleprompter-In-Chief, particularly the Government-Hollywood Media Complex, and that she was shoved aside for The Golfer-In-Chief to get “his turn” first, so there will be gigabucks, plus intimidation from various groups such as never before.

Plus, Hitlary’s past associations with the Black Panthers will be brought up as a POSITIVE by the Government-Hollywood Media Complex, and Blak Amerika will feel sorry that she was shoved aside, and turn out for her in droves. Remember, she got away with mimicking blackspeak in a Southern church a few years back, when Rush Limbaugh or Debbie for that matter, would have been hung from the nearest tree.

I guess no one in the Government-Hollywood Media Complex cares about the time that her “husband,” The Great StainMaker, said of The Dictator-In-Chief, “this guy would have been serving us coffee two years ago.”

Yes, Frankz, I hope you’re ready to put a gun to your head, because I am going to be figuring out how to jump in front of a Metro North commuter express storming through a station at 80 mph in a few years, when people are stabbing each other at the corner store for the last candy bar.

Because that will be the only thing left TO DO.

OH!!! OH!!! Did I say back door? As in that’s where Netanyahu and the Dalai Lama were ushered out of The White House from? Yeah, that’s it, the back door. There’s a famous picture of the Dalai Lama and his entourage passing by a mound of garbage bags as they left The White House a few years back.

But if it was the Dolly Parton, you can be sure she’d have been given the royal treatment.

Just getting somewhat settled in for the night here, HK. With regard to the question “are we the only ones,” if you mean Debbie’s regulars, no, Debbie’s regulars are not the ONLY ones, . . .

but there ain’t many more than us, that’s for sure. When you have literally millions of people across the vast expanse of AfrolabadSouthAmerAsiexico who ACTUALLY believe that Jon Liebowitz and Steven Cold Bear are BRILLIANT journalists, . . .

well, you get da pitcha. That’s why you’re here, because you get it. But there ain’t too many of us.

“…did Bob Bergdahl always have that silly hipster/Outlaw Bikers beard or did he grow it out of deference to Islam, Muslims, and his son’s Taliban former captors?”

I don’t think it matters. Hipsters and millennials have both been brain-wiped by total immersion in former-hippie culture and education as evidenced by those “cOeXIsT” bumper stickers to believe that there is no God. Neo-liberalism, leftist antisemitism and muslim conversions by whites in host countries are simple, feeble-minded and jelly-spined reactions of feaer and testament to the effectiveness of mulsim terrorism.

DS_ROCKS! on June 1, 2014 at 3:14 pm

Bob didn’t always have the beard. He grew it out to gain traction with his captors. Bob is a member of the orthodox Presbyterian Church–one of the most conservative in the nation. I know because I attended church with him for 3 years before I moved from Idaho. He and his wife would drive Two hours every Sunday to be there.

Idaho Transplant on June 1, 2014 at 3:49 pm

You mean the same Jew-hating, Israel-baiting Presbyterian Church (USA) that now subscribes to the BDS program against the Jewish state? It wouldn’t surprise me if Bobby boy promotes the Islamic agenda to his fellow scullions who are nothing more than pawns and shills for their disgusting and disgraceful brothers and sisters of terror.

Ron on June 1, 2014 at 4:12 pm

Everybody knows Presbyterians are amongst the most blinkered Chrislam interfaith dialogue apologists around these days.

ersatzF on June 1, 2014 at 4:19 pm

There are several offshoots of PCUSA which tend to be more Conservative theologically. The Orthodox PC is the most literal and they are dominionists. They are total replacement theology, believing they need to take the world, including Israel, for Jesus. They believe that anyone who doesn’t accept JC as lord and savior will is doomed and that only TRUE believers will be in charge during the Millenial kingdom. So that makes them de facto anti-semites although it takes a slightly different form than the more theologically and politically liberal PCUSA and even more conservative PC[in]A[merica].

Meira on June 1, 2014 at 5:40 pm

“They are total replacement theology” – meaning they believe themselves to be G-d’s chosen people.
Meaning they must get rid of Jews and blot out their memory just like their Muslim friends.
For this reason they are cursed.

ersatzF on June 1, 2014 at 6:01 pm

          Exactly! Posting doesn’t indicate endorsement.

Meira on June 2, 2014 at 4:54 am

Meira, I was a member of the OPC for many years, and I can say with assurance that you have no idea what you are talking about. There isn’t a hint of anti-semitism in the OPC. I myself am married to a woman of Jewish descent. How does the OPC believing that the Church is true Israel make them anti-Semites?! That is slander, pure and simple. I know many in the OPC, and every one of them would support Israel over their Muslim enemies. There are Domionists in the OPC, but that isn’t the position of the OPC itself, and I’m quite confident that Dominionism is overwhelmingly frowned upon by the OPC. OPC pastors frequently are alumni of Westminster Theological Seminary, which has written and debated at length against Domionism.

Dordrecht on June 1, 2014 at 11:54 pm

Dordrecht, it is you who doesn’t know what she’s talking about. What do you think “the church is true Israel” means? It means the the Jews who won’t accept your false messiah are doomed. Sure they support “Israel” that’s the meme. Do you really not see that by using the very term, “True Israel,” you are denying the TRUENESS of the current one? They need this Land to be here so when we get wiped out in all the events of Revelation, your false leader has a place to land with his cloud of deluded witnesses. I lived in Atlanta in the 80’s. There was a big OP church there named Chaldean OPC. Their pastor was also a politician. Very well known, huge TV ministry. The official position of the OP’s is absolutely Dominionist. How sad that you describe your self as having “Jewish descent.” YOU’RE A JEW. An APOSTATE ONE, but still a JEW. Come back to the family. BTW, Dordrecht, why did you leave the OP if they’re so great and what does being married have to do with it? Is that why you apostasized, to marry out?

There’s a big difference between a Christian who is pro “Israel” and not being anti-semitic. When they say they are Pro, some do mean a JEWISH Israel, some mean a small half of a Two State Solution. but most mean a REPLACED Israel. Replaced by the “True” one.

Meira on June 2, 2014 at 5:07 am

Also, Dordrecht, I don’t care where the pastors graduated from or what that school’s position is. One reason the Presbyterian church came into being was due to Calvin’s anti-papism. Once a man graduates, he’s free to believe anything he chooses. There is no Vatican to make them toe the party line they learned. The fact that Dominionsim was debated shows that some were in favor.

Meira on June 2, 2014 at 5:14 am

Not a hint of anti-semitism. Obviously you haven’t gotten the hint.

Try looking into the activities of you own church leadership sometime. You might get a fascinating insight into what’s going on in the real world.

“In 2004, the Presbyterian Church (USA) touted solidarity with Palestinians by endorsing a ‘phased, selective divestment’ from firms doing business with Israel. Church elites had underestimated the negative public response, both from American Jews and from more temperate Presbyterians.”
That issue is once again on the table. George Soros may well be funding initiatives that keep it that way. A man who lived the best days of his life in his own words working under Nazi occupation confiscating land from Jews.

“A Virginia Beach pastor who was slated to take a leadership role in a church forum at its annual General Assembly has been pressured to resign by Presbyterian Church USA officials. What was his offense? Taking part in two trips to Israel sponsored by a Jewish group.”

“The 2-million member church partnered with Islamist groups for the project and its website promotes U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entities as interfaith partners.

The listed advisors for the study include Naeem Baig, president of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and Farhanahz Eliz of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center, a mosque led by the president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA)”

ersatzF on June 2, 2014 at 9:26 am

The rot in churches is most pronounced at the top, in the leadership.
          Presbyterians aren’t unique.
The Anglican and Catholic churches have the same issues. The Catholic Church now has an liberation theology Pope who legitimises terrorists in the name of peace. I don’t want to offend Catholics but the man is an idiot as far I’m concerned.
The Anglican Church has a bunch of frustrated socialists who play with religious abstractions instead of real life wealth distribution.
They are a disgrace. They are leadership only the faithful could be lead by and this is why they are corrosive of faith.
You could say it is their purpose on earth.

ersatzF on June 2, 2014 at 10:29 am

Meira, Regardless of the propriety of the content to this discussion, why are you referencing the PCUSA? They have nothing to do with the PCA, the OPC or this discussion. The PCUSA is left-leaning of both the PCA and the OPC, and it has followed its Liberal leanings in the past to the great displeasure of the PCA and OPC. Take a look around, Meira – Conservatism, both religious Conservatism and political, overwhelmingly supports Israel while Liberalism leans toward Palestine. The OPC did not condone anything to do with Israel, and both the OPC and PCA are faith-based, not political entities. The OPC website says specifically, “…we have not taken a position as a denomination on the investing or divesting of funds for Israel, nor do I think we ever will. Our task is not political but spiritual: “Go and make disciples of every nation, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”—Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Church, in Matthew 28:19-20a”

Dordrecht on June 2, 2014 at 10:08 am

Once upon a time in Calvinistan, all Presbyterians were created equal. Then the PCUSA became left leaning, both theologically and politically. Because of that, Dordrecht, they sprouted schismatic branches called PC in America [PCA] and the OPC, As ertzatzF says, learn the history of your own church.

BTW, I had posted a more lengthy discussion of this to you but some of my posts land in Debbie’s spam and she hasn’t had time to retrieve it apparently.

Note to ertzatzF: See what I just wrote. the OPC is NOT PCUSA. They’re no better for Israel, albeit it for different reasons but your argument will carry more weight if you get the details right. They are different with no connection between them except way back in Calvin’s day.

Meira on June 2, 2014 at 12:23 pm

Well, Dordrecht, I don’t want to be one of his disciples. That in itself is a misreading of what HE A JEW was saying there and is an anti-semitic statement. Jesus THE JEW was speaking from Jerusalem and when a Jew says go OUT from here, He means OUT, beyond the borders and when he says “the NATIONS” He means GENTILES, NOT EVERYONE on earth. A JEWISH reading of that text explicitly rules out Israel and Jews.

Meira on June 2, 2014 at 12:32 pm

I’m pretty well versed in the history of the OPC, Meira. I read a whole book on it (ISBN-13: 978-0934688819).

Your hatred and hostility is clouding your own judgement. Yes, the OPC was formed in the 1930’s when the PCUSA rejected J. Gresham Machen’s conservatism and made Princeton liberal, and Machen left the PCUSA and went on to not only form Westminster Theological Seminary, which is very conservative, but also the Orthodox Presbyterian Church as well. You’re arguing that the OPC is liberal because its founder came out of a liberal church, but you’re ignoring the VERY SIGNIFICANT fact that he parted with the PCUSA precisely because he hated its liberalism. For goodness sake, Machen wrote a classic book called “Christianity and Liberalism” that exists for the sole purpose of BLASTING liberalism. (http://opc.org/machen.html)

Why? Why are you so driven to misrepresent, disseminate hatred and ill-will? What is your problem?

Dordrecht on June 2, 2014 at 12:53 pm

I DID NOT SAY the OPC is liberal, not it the least. I understand the word “orthodox” being an Orthodox Jew, myself. I know them to be extremely conservative in all ways. I did more than read a book, Dordrecht. I followed this man in Atlanta to see what he was about and because I lived in his congressional district. Actually, I think it was the State Assembly. Whatever, he was my governmental representative. And I know that the OPC as well as the PCA decried the liberalism that was creeping into the mother church at that point. They might have done better to have allowed a bit of liberalism which basically got rid of the “Replacement” doctrine.

I don’t hate anyone but I do hate lies, distortion and deliberate misinformation. I also hate for Jews to be self haters as you obviously are.
It is that hate and shame that has clouded YOUR judgement and turned you against your people. If I have a problem, it’s with those who think Jews need “saving” or “completing” thru Jesus.

And, Yes! I will be Zealous for Zion’s sake. Your foul doctrines are putting my life and the lives of millions of Jews at stake because they support the blood libels and lies that have been told about us for two thousand years. I will never stop calling out those who seek to convert us and steal our land covertly. At least the Arabs are up front about wanting us gone.

Meira on June 2, 2014 at 2:00 pm

There is no OPC Church in Atlanta by the name Chaldean. There is Redeemed, Heritage, Covenant, and Geneva. There is a Chalcedon Presbyterian Church, but they are not OPC. If you don’t like Dominionism, then you have a problem with those who preach it, not the OPC, because, as I showed earlier, the OPC does not have any position on it.

More importantly, the nation of Israel is not doomed, according to the New Testament and the Church. No nation is. Christianity is a belief – a faith, not something found in the blood, and it is open to all, including Jews. I never said I was a Jew. I said I was married to one, and I made that point known because you indicated that Orthodox Presbyterians are anti-semites. Why would I marry one if I’m an anti-semite? Not believing that the nation of Israel is God’s special nation is a spiritual issue, not a political one. The belief that Israel has a right to their land, which is a belief held by most conservatives including those in the OPC, in our minds is not based on some kind of Jewish superiority or exceptionalism, but on the history of the land’s ownership. Overwhelmingly, we support Israel. We don’t want your land. You’re delirious.

We stopped going to the OPC because it was farther then we cared to drive. Apostasy!? We’re still on great terms with the OPC. We visited there just yesterday and my wife played piano for the service.

Dordrecht on June 2, 2014 at 2:17 pm

RIF, Dordrecht, or do you deliberately like to play word games? Chaldean WAS there 26 years ago. It could have closed or changed denominations. I said you were apostate from JUDAISM. And now you’re MISTER Dordrecht? You originally identified yourself as a “Married woman with Jewish descent.” Make up your mind or better yet, stop being a TROLL. YOu’re not very good at it. You can’t even get your identity right.

He will no longer hide his affiliation but will use his office to inflict as much damage as possible in the time he has left.
Think about our Marine in Mexico while you are pondering the above. He is following the Koran, Sira, and Hadith to the letter, this love child of the Taliban and worse.

Bob Bergdahl seems to be lifting a veil on what actually happened through his speaking of Arabic to his son and the growing of a beard. Bowe Bergdahl very likely defected to the Taliban when he disappeared. Otherwise, why would the Taliban have bothered to keep Bowe Bergdahl alive all of these years?

Educate yourself instead of spreading your dumb lies. Lets give you facts:

Countries like the US and their cronies should look at their countries first. They are responsible for the death of millions in Iraq based on lies, double standards, removing a dictator that they supported and armed. Now if we look at the proper definition of terrorism in the dictionary and then look at American history – Chile, Panama, Nicaragua, Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, Iran, Indonesia, slavery of Africans, the slaughter of millions across the Americas etc. Look at how the US supported dictators like Shah, Noriega, Mubarak, Sadat, Saleh, Saddam, Gaddafi, Suharto, Berra, Pinochet, Ben Ali, Saleh then the US would be the undisputed heavyweight terrorist of the world many time over. Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mussolini weren’t Muslims.

The FACT is that the West are the biggest terrorists on the face of this earth. Look at how many million Jews were murdered in Europe. Look at what the West did in Africa, across the America etc – they wiped out millions and whole civilisations. Countries like the US have backed, armed, funded undemocratic tyrant dictators like Saddam, Shah, Sadat, Mubarak, Saleh, Ben Ali, Gaddafi for decades – the reason for 9/11 and why the CIA referred to it as “Blowback”.

90% OF JEWS LIVED IN MUSLIM LANDS WHEN THE MUSLIMS RULED VAST AREAS OF THE WORLD. ZION ZOHAR, A JEWISH HISTORIAN – “THUS, WHEN MUSLIMS CROSSED THE STRAITS OF GIBRALTAR FROM NORTH AFRICA IN 711 CE AND INVADED THE IBERIAN PENINSULA, JEWS WELCOMED THEM AS LIBERATORS FROM CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION.”

@Mr. Truth Sleuth
The fact is the US defeated Nazi Germany.
The fact is the US didn’t create Pinochet.
The fact is the US didn’t create Che Guevara either and it isn’t responsible for all the people he murdered.
The fact is many Jews lived in lands that weren’t Muslim before the Muslims invaded and wrecked them.
Where are those Jews now?
How are Jews doing in countries like Iran?

The fact is even with most of the world’s oil wealth Islamic countries are still complete basket cases and they always will be.
The fact is without the Western market for oil countries like Saudi Arabia would still rely on camel dung for fuel.
The fact is when regions like Europe are Islamized their economies will fail and Muslims worldwide will get even more violent and miserable.
No matter how many enemies Muslims terrorize they will always be their own worst enemy.

Those are just a few facts but you should start asking more questions.

ersatzF on June 2, 2014 at 9:18 am

eratz, Mr. Truth got the part about Medieval Spain right and the fact is, Jews didn’t fare so badly in Muslim countries until the Hertzl came along and created modern Zionism. but actually, those Jews were not zionists in that sense. Jews in Iran are doing ok, actually. Their Chief Rav just died and he got a grand send off. http://www.sephardicstudies.org/iran.html

Meira on June 2, 2014 at 12:29 pm

      Thanks Meira, appreciate your input.

Although the only significant part he got right to my knowledge is
“JEWS WELCOMED THEM AS LIBERATORS FROM CHRISTIAN PERSECUTION”
Of this I was well aware although my knowledge can always be improved.
This understandable reaction didn’t work out too well for Jews in the long run though.

I suppose Jews can be said to being doing OK being tolerated as dhimmis in Iran compared to conditions in some even more ghastly hell hole somewhere else in the world.
The reports I’ve read have stated that they suffer severe repression.

I suppose Christians were doing OK in Egypt until Morsi came along.

Muslims will never tolerate other faiths living alongside them on an equal footing unless they themselves are a small minority of the population and not in a position to do anything else. It’s against their religion.

Perhaps you could find exceptions like periods in the Ottoman Empire but they are tenuous – not the rule and do not stand the test of time.

ersatzF on June 2, 2014 at 4:13 pm

I suppose the one remaining Jew in Afghanistan is doing OK too.

ersatzF on June 2, 2014 at 4:14 pm

“Jews didn’t fare so badly in Muslim countries until the Hertzl came along and created modern Zionism…”

If so, Meira, then why did the Rambam (hardly the most oppressed Jew of his time) confess in letters on how oppressive Muslim rule was?

Also, given the expected increase in population from reproduction, why were (relatively) few Jews in Muslim countries before Hertzl?

“Good Muslims” are required to subjugate Jews. Let’s not pretend that those who were subjugated “did not fare so badly.”

skzion on June 2, 2014 at 5:23 pm

Well, sk, it was, no question, especially various sects at various times but compared to what Eastern European Jews faced, it was relatively easy and many had good relationships with Muslim neighbors. I don’t want to make an argument about who was more righteous, I’m just stating the facts. Sometimes a level of dhimmitude is preferable to the alternative. Jews in Iraq just prior to the creation of Israel were able to be in professions, have university educations and become wealthy. They mixed with Muslim neighbors companionably. The PM attended Rosh HaShana services at the main synagogue every year and gave and received a blessing. So, while it wasn’t perfect, it was far from what the Mufti was doing in Europe with his German pals. The Muslims only turned against the Jews once the State was declared and some Jews became militantly Zionist.

Meira on June 3, 2014 at 3:48 am

Sorry, Meira, but I find your analysis flawed. All you have to do is consider that the number of Jews who fled the Muslim Middle East was about the same as the original A-rabs who became Fakestinian “refugees.” Then using that as your numerator, set the denominator as the total number of persons living in the Muslim Middle East.

Given that populations grow, and that Jews have been in those countries since before Islam, the main explanations for the small Jewish population in these countries at the birth of Israel would be that Jews were (1) lost to forced conversion, or (2) murdered.

I’m really surprised I need to make this point.

As nobody yet know with certainty whether he deserted, we have an obligation to everything in our power to get him back. His father is not the issue. The son was the solder. If he deserted, he should be tried, convicted and punished. His father’s views are irrelevant. Can no one else focus on the issue? Why are you bothering to even discuss the father. His views are his own views. And, yes, in America you are allowed to be any religion or no religion.

Bergdhal is a traitor. He was on guard duty at 0300 when he neatly stacked his weapon and ammo and abandoned his guard post with water, rations, his gps device and his diary. He was not ‘grabbed’ he left his post, after sending emails about how terrible the US is and he cannot defend this Country any longer. After that 5 US troops were KIA while looking for him. In addition his area of duty in AFG experienced a significant uptick in hostile action over the short term (he was neither there long enough or with rank enough to have more than temporarily useful information). He needs as his former squad leader said, to rehab and get well so he can answer for what he has done. Treason it could be.

Let’s get something straight, Meira. No longer considering the Jews, as a nation, to be Gods chosen people, is not antisemitism. Believing that they are no more and no less than any other nationality doesn’t show hatred or ill-will toward them at all; it puts them in the same boat as everyone else. If a Jew feels hated or mistreated for not being considered more exceptional than everyone else, then he or she has a very special case of egoism, and is partaking in more bigotry than they ascribe.

Dordrecht on June 2, 2014 at 1:48 pm

We are not more “exceptional” but we are set apart, you fatuous troll. We were NEVER TO BE IN THE SAME BOAT AS EVERYONE ELSE. I do not use the language that so many commenters here do. In this case I would love to be able to make an exception. Removing the “dor” from your name suggests a very apt Yiddish expression for what you are.

ersatzF on June 2, 2014 at 5:03 pm

    @Dumbrecht
Although Meira’s point is sufficient I’d like to point out that when you wrote “it puts them in the same boat as everyone else” you are being dishonest in your premise.
Perhaps this would be true if you didn’t regard yourselves to be the keepers of the new covenant.
This is not the case though.

Actually it puts people of your denomination driver’s seat and everybody else in the same boat.

    http://www.opc.org/qa.html?question_id=466

“The Orthodox Presbyterian Church uses the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. In Chapter 19, paragraph 3 we confess that the people of Israel, God’s people in the Old Testament, are…

In other words, the nation of Israel, as it existed as the people of God in the Old Testament is no more. Galatians 6:16 informs us that the Church is now the Israel of God. In the Old Testament the church, called the nation of Israel, consisted of the blood descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. But in the New Testament the Church now consists of all those who believe God’s promise like and along with Abraham (See Romans 4:1-12 and Galatians 3:13-14). We who trust in Christ are now the nation of Israel!”

So these ideas you about Jews being exceptional are logically what I think quite honestly you would have to apply to yourselves.
I suppose you imagine that you come by it more honestly because it’s a matter of choice. However the Bible doesn’t back up this claim.

You are not the children of Israel the Lord guided into the promised land and you never will be.
    That’s not abrogated.

    Mathew 5:17
“Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18″For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.”

ersatzF on June 2, 2014 at 4:59 pm

Drecht, Meira was right about you.

“Let’s get something straight, Meira. No longer considering the Jews, as a nation, to be Gods chosen people, is not antisemitism.”

This depends on whether or not you are a Christian. I don’t expect Buddhists to think of the Jews this way. But a Christian who does not think of Jews as G-d’s chosen people is indeed intrinsically anti-Semitic.

Meira on June 3, 2014 at 3:51 am

Dordrecht, I’ve been trying to hold back, but . . .

seriously?!?!?!!! Let’s set aside the Jewish DNA I inherited from my mother for a moment. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior on September 10, 1984, and am over halfway through my 30th cover to cover reading of the entire Bible, which readings have been accomplished in four English translations. Currently, I am studying the 1599 Geneva Bible.

One cannot be a Christian without accepting certain Biblical FACTS. The Ruler (Christ) was prophesied to come out of Judah. The Apostle Paul himself states that salvation is for the Jew first, then the Gentile. Yes, salvation is open to everyone, but to the Jew FIRST. The Jews were granted a special place by God, from the beginning.

What Bible is it you’re reading again? To assign the Jews a lesser place than GOD HIMSELF has appointed them is, . . .

Hey Abbott, what’s that word again? Oh, right, . . .

blasphemy. Because if you deny God’s Word, you deny Him, and if you deny him, you are blaspheming. God plainly states in his Word, time and again, that the Jews have been granted a special place, and not because they did anything in and of themselves to achieve it, lest they should boast, but because . . .

God GAVE THAT PLACE TO THEM. So, to deny that, is to indeed, . . .

demean Jews.

Are you bilingual? Have you ever dealt with language immersion over a long period of time? It is not as hard to forget a language as one might think.

Language Student on June 2, 2014 at 6:30 pm

That’s actually a valid point. My Hebrew is far from good but it is functional for every day life. I already find myself forgetting how to express myself in English. I also struggle with French which was my second or third language until Hebrew. I’d probably speak English even less well if it weren’t for using it on forums such as this. I can read Spanish and get most of it but verbal ability is gone. I struggle in Italian. However, it is like riding a bicycle. Once I am in a situation where I’m hearing either French or Italian, they come back to me to some extent. I sound like a two year old.
My Mom hadn’t spoken French in 25 years, since college but when we went to France, she spoke like a native. It all came back. If Bergdahl wants to, he will regain his English fluency but I think this family may have been a sleeper cell.
