The NFL’s treatment of Michael Sam has another double standard to it. And it has to do with the Mafia and illegal betting on NFL games.

If I wrote a novel about an NFL draftee who is gay and his boyfriend is La Cosa Nostra royalty from a family that ran illegal gambling rings, you’d laugh and say, “that would never happen.” Well, it happened. In fact, Michael Sam isn’t just the first openly gay player to be drafted by the NFL, he’s also the first openly mobster boyfriend to be drafted by the NFL. And, while the NFL usually takes those kinds of ties very seriously (and negatively), it’s looking the other way–you know, because of the gay thing.

Michael Sam’s boyfriend, Vito Cammisano, is Mafia royalty and his father and uncle are top figures in organized crime and gambling. His father and uncle served time recently for running illegal sports betting operations. If Michael Sam actually makes the Rams, will anyone investigate whether or not Michael Sam might feed inside info to his–how do you say it?–“father-in-gay-partnership-law” that might affect gambling lines on St. Louis Rams games?

That’s something that would normally alarm the NFL, but, again, the League is looking the other way because of the gay thing. Political correctness trumps all, including that which would normally disturb a major sports league like the NFL, given its vehement, but failed, efforts to fight gambling on games.

Every year, after NFL players are drafted and when they attend training camp before the pre-season begins, the NFL sends its chief of security and former and current FBI agents to lecture its players to stay away from organized crime and gambling. It’s a big deal. Will they approach Michael Sam and inquire about his boyfriend’s mob and gambling ties? If the boyfriend, Cammisano, was a chick, they definitely would have. But they won’t dare now, lest they be labelled homophobic. You can be mob-ophobic. But it’s politically incorrect to be homo-mob-ophobic.

Vito Cammisano . . . comes from one of the state’s most infamous mobster families. Online records indicate that he is the grandson of William ‘Willie Rat’ Cammisano. The mob leader served time in prison for extortion and contempt of Congress in the 80s, AP reported.

After a long rap sheet of crimes from theft to bootlegging, accusations of murder, and refusing to cooperate with a Congressional probe into the mob, he passed away in 1995, aged 80. After his death, his son, William ‘Willie’ Cammisano Jr., took over the reins but he was arrested in 2010 for running a $3.5 million illegal sports betting organization and sentenced to a year and a day in prison, according to a release from the Department of Justice.

His brother – Vito’s father – Jerry Cammisano, was also swept up in the family business and served 14 months in federal prison and ordered to pay more than $200,000 for his part in leading the sports betting ring, according to the release. Records show Jerry Cammisano began his sentence in February 2011, and photographs show him grinning beside Vito at his graduation ceremony last year, indicating he did not serve further time.

Yes, it’s unsure that Michael Sam will make the St. Louis Rams team. But the Rams are feeling the NFL pressure, I’m sure, to make sure that Sam does make the team, even though he’s really not prime NFL meat. More like chuck. And, speaking of chuck, they’ll probably chuck, er . . . cut, him a few weeks into the season, so that Sam can still say he’s the first openly gay NFL player.

So, while Sam is still on the team–and in pre-season games, where some bets are still had–will the NFL Director of Security be watching La Cosa Nostra boyfriend of Sam?

Secretly, you can bet they are. But they won’t admit to it. And they’ll never say anything to Sam about it.

If this were a heterosexual relationship between an NFL player and a Mafia princess, they’d be all over it. And the relationship would be over. Or the player’s NFL career would be.

One last thing: remember “The Godfather”? Will Ram’s Head Coach Jeff Fisher find a horse’s head in his bed if he cuts Michael Sam from the team? (Luca Brasi “sleeps with the fishes” for a lot less.)

I heard the coach was given a team roster he “can’t refuse.”

It is good that you have pointed out the double standard being used in Michael Sam’s case. Also, this situation gives a whole new meaning to the term “Gay Mafia”.

I married into a family from NYC that had mob connections to the infamous Albert A——— family. Not real close ties but close enough to make one young man join the Navy and travel the world for about 30 years so as NOT to have to be a soldier or even a made man( MOB INSIDER).

The mob does admire patriotism in an odd way…they do not seem to put pressure on ANY who might prefer US Military service to a life in the mob.

They Even gave a huge party for this guy in the Navy uniform when he married on leave on week-end. “Hey LOOK at us we are AMERICANS too, We LIKE people in the military too. We are just GOOD guys, YA KNOW!”

Sure they were.. HA!

One made-man in the mob family had a son( one of 3) who was a homosexual. He was very effeminate too. They did stuff rougher and tougher and meaner, this was LONG ago. SO, the boss had some of his soldiers knock the homosexual kid around a bit to get him scared and then he was sent to Italy for an “education” in how to get along and live well….not to make waves. He never returned to live in the USA, the other two sons were made men in the mob.

This is the way it was explained to me by a family member.

The homosexual son lived quite a long time but he stayed in Italy just about all the time.

Since the guy was a homosexual, he was sent into exile in a place he could be watched/protected and kept out of sight so nobody could use his “condition” against the BIG BOSS. Homosexuals are thought to be weak and a risk to the crime business.

If he had ever made a fuss, got caught out with another man in public …well, the part about the sleeping with fishes or a vat of acid disappearance was a good possibility for him an any “partner” he ever had.

Like I said, this was way back in the ’50s…. the mob was not yet contained like it is today.

It’s, a “made man” is way more than an insider. He is a guy who has killed, often in a particularly horrific way to prove his loyalty. He’s also been put thru various other tests. When he is deemed loyal enough, he is inducted into the Mob with a formal and secret society, swearing an oath of “omerta” which is silence and utter loyalty to his Capo (godfather). He’s required to do absolutely ANYTHING the Boss orders.

There was a strong streak of patriotism in these immigrants. They were truly grateful to be in America and didn’t see what they were doing as harmful. To them, it was just business. I was at the gym yester/evening after a week break. I was on the stationary bike and I had cnn on to the right of me and had fox news to the left of me, I did 30 minutes on the bike and the whole time, all they covered was this Michael Sams crap. I cannot believe the attention it is getting. Just nonstop, shove it down our throats. Take it, Take it. Gag Gag, dumb gym didn’t have the nba playoffs on any t.v.

Why does the media make it front page news about a guy who sleeps with another guy and is selected in the NLF DRaft ?I think they ran he is gay just in case he does not actually make the team he use had he not been gay he would of course made the team.Saying he is ga is like getting an insurance policy to ensure he will be on the team regardless of if his playing skills are not at an NFL level.He can fall back on it’s because I am gay.Why do they select to tell us about his sex life ? @ Steve, I’ve never thought of that, they have a measure in Cali that passed for teenage students to be able to use the bathroom of their choice (if they’re transgendered) but I never thought of the perverts who could dress like a woman, then go creep into a bathroom. Sure, if an individual player is involved in placing bets, the NFL will take action. And the Mob wants it that way. Nobody is supposed to profit from insider information except them.

But remember, if anybody asks you if the Mob is deeply entrenched in the NFL, just tell them “no way” and that “everything is on the up and up,” as the NFL has high ethics and integrity across the board.

Seriously, this is not the first gay NFL player. Hell, they all like to pat each other’s butts, they like to shower together, they snap towels at each other, etc. It is one of the gayest games around, played by a bunch of meatheads whose marbles will end up scrambled years after the game.

People were accusing Michael Sams that his kiss was scripted. People said no no no. Come to find out, it was scripted. Oprah has been filming for weeks and her film crew was in the room when he got the news he was drafted. Scripted reality T.V.

unfortunately we are relying on the msm to let us know what this guy is all about. he may turn out to be one of hundreds of graduates every year who are good players, D1 or D2, that just isnt slam dunk pro football material. but may be a shrewd oppurtunist using his football skills and homosexuality to build his brand name.
