Black NBA Owner Held Black Only Party, Whites Turned Away; NBA Did Nothing

In the wake of this week’s NBA proposed lifetime ban and $2.5 million fine for Donald Sterling, a longtime reader reminded me that I’d written about another NBA owner, a Black man, who held a party in which Whites were refused entry and turned away. And, yet, the NBA did nothing.

As I’ve already pointed out, Black racism and bigotry against Whites, Jews, Mormons, and gays is tolerated by the NBA. But a private racist conversation by a White owner is not. And here is an instance of a Black then-NBA owner whose public, deliberate racism was tolerated and ignored. Jay-Z a/k/a Shawn Carter was an owner of the Brooklyn Nets, an NBA Team, from 2003 through mid-April 2013. But, as I noted on this site, in February 2010, Jay-Z held a lavish party at the Merah club in central London, and banned White people from attending. The party, for music industry executives, reporters, and other Jay-Z ass-kissers was for Blacks only. Bouncers were instructed to refuse entry to Whites.

Reader Chris reminded me that I’d written about this, and noted:

Wasn’t Jay-Z part owner of Brooklyn/New Jersey Nets when he threw that racist party you wrote about? I don’t remember any NBA controversy over that.

I don’t either, but here’s a reminder from my 2010 post, “More Obama ‘Post-Racialism’ Courtesy of Jay-Z“:

Jay-Z was caught up in a race row when bouncers at his BRITs after-show party “banned” white people from boozing with the star. Chart legend Jay-Z threw a lavish bash but music industry executives, journalists and revellers were turned away from the roped-off area because of the colour of their skin.

Minders were spotted banning clubbers from the private event because they were not “of colour”. . . . One clubber said: “The security guards were happy to let in all party-goers apart from the white people.

Again, this was a deliberate, public, racist act by a Black NBA owner, as opposed to a private telephone conversation. I wonder how many current NBA owners would keep their teams if we heard everything they say in private. Probably none.

And remember, this is Jay-Z, who was a drug dealer, shot his own brother, and stabbed a record executive in 1999. He was indicted in 2000 over the stabbing and was given a plead deal in which he was allowed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor.

Yet, the NBA had no problem with this racist, violent thug owning a team. Because, hey, he’s Black!

Did Donald Sterling (who is a jerk, but so is Jay-Z and so are many NBA owners) ever stab anyone? Shoot anyone? Deal drugs? Ban Blacks from his NBA games with security guards turning them away based on skin color?

Nope.

Not difficult to figure this out. The Clippers are finally winning, so just set up Sterling (with a 30-plus year history of racists remarks) for a fall, and someone can buy the team at a bargain price.

Yes, the analysis in this article and the comments here are correct. You’ve got the principle down cold now:

The Politically Correct Steamroller Machine applies to all except Blacks and Muslims. Those groups are exempt from the tyranny of the Machine.

See, it’s simple when you understand the principle.

But it’s also important to understand how this principle came about. Blacks and Muslims have frequently used violence and murder to assert their exemption. They also have spokespersons to immediately enforce the exemption and they are given exceptional prominance by the media. They also exert power and influence over their own groups so that there are no naysayers among them whatsover to contradict their official positions.

Thus, John “sub-Lurch” Kerry easily gets away with the lie of referring to Israel as “apartheid,” because only some Jews condemn him and they are much quieter about than an Obama, a Sharpton, or a Spike Lee would be if even some off-the cuff racist remark were made by a prominent person. Add to that the fact that there are plenty of Jews who actually agree with Kerry and are not pressured in any way to change their viewpoints, and you can readily see how Kerry gets away with this lie, even though many of the Jews supporting Kerry and his ilk are really Jewish “Uncle Toms.” There are no “Uncle Toms” in the Black or Muslim communities that I can see.

Not long ago, the LA Times had an Israel-Apartheid Quiz. Now, even though the LA Times could hardly be characterized as pro-Israel, the quiz they prepared is a good way to check whether an individual is sufficiently knowledgeable enough to call Israel an apartheid state. As you point out in your article, Kerry is not only biased, but extremely ignorant. Also troubling is that he prefers to remain ignorant. It goes without saying that Kerry would flunk the quiz. Al, of course I refer to the term “Uncle Tom” as it has been used by many in the Black leadership–and not to the literary character from Harriet Beacher Stowe from where the term was derived. I doubt that those who widely applied the pejorative “Uncle Tom” have ever read the book or even seen dramatic versions. So as a pejorative term it means a Black person who is “self-hating” and who identifies with “White values” and whose values run counter to “Black power” advocates. The term is hardly ever used today because, as I’ve pointed out, there are no “Uncle Toms” anymore, as the Politically Correct Steamroller Machine and crushed them out of existence. From time to time, some Black person becomes prominent who hold some limited views that could be called “Uncle Tomish” by the consensus Black community–say, someone like economist Thomas Sowell. But the Black community would use the term “Oreo” to describe him, rather than “Uncle Tom,” which is reserved for those who “violate” several dimensions of the consensus Black views. (Sowell only really violates the consensus economics platform, with his Friedman-like viewpoints.)

I need to make some points regarding this article. I’m going to anoint myself an expert in these matters as I worked in the nightclub scene for approx 10yrs ( I don’t anymore but they still call to have me come in)

These parties are not parties thrown by Jay Z. This was an afterparty after a concert he had in Britain. This goes for nearly all entertainers, celebrities i.e (comedians, anyone that does shows) the nightclubs pay these celebs to show up. Its the clubs security not the entertainers’ who handle these things.

The entertainers mostly are 100% oblivious of whats happening i n the club, they come into the VIP section (which this was, which is roped off) and they sit, watch for a while, mostly uncomfortable, stay the 15-30 mins, and they are gone.
The club security could have been goofballs and not let whites in the VIP section of the club, just being dorks because they could. This was Britain after all, but I am positive Jay-Z didnt request this.

How stupid would this be, He’s in Britain i.e white folks people. I would defend Kid Rock if the accusation was in reverse and he was accused of not letting Blacks in. These celebrities have nothing to do with these afterparties, BELIEVE Me, I’ve worked many, many, many and I’m more than familiar on how this works in any club. I’m sure This is why Jay-Z never addressed this.

(Afterparties are different from lets say a Party that a celeb is throwing for a Bday or something, which they are renting out the club)

The NBA may just be hypocritical at times, but this isn’t a good example. It just isn’t.

I would add this too, Jay-Z would not alienate his fan base, which I’m sure he knows more whites buy his music than black folk. Also when Jay-Z had an invested interest in the Nets he owned- 1/15th of 1 percent, or an initial investment of $1 million. Thats nada, people. Nada

That makes sense. I had totally forgotten about those deals. I remember some trouble a while back because Paris Hilton was paid a mil to show up at some club for 30mins and was a no show. And, some time ago, I think it was Brittany Spears was paid to show at some other club in Nashville and something had happened at the club that night and she had no knowledge of it (long while back and don’t recall circumstances).
I figure there are plenty of other incidents tho because the reverse discrimination is now rampant.

Black racism has always been acceptable in the PC world. Now that they have Sterling’s scalp, the PC Police want the NBA to go after Richard DeVos who owns the Orlando Magic because, as a Christian, he is opposed to gay marriage.

It is very scary when people may be deprived of their livelihood because of private speech or their religious beliefs. The only ones who appear to be safe these days are blacks and Muslims. Who also happen to be the most dangerous people in our society, as a group.

Interesting and article Debbie, this is one the reasons why I read your source, not only you give out your opinions, but you also provide encompassing sources from other websites, via the internet to back up what precisely what you’re referring to, as oppose to other blogs who are just opinionated, over-emphasize specific stuff and don’t distribute evidence to back up their claims and assertions (which makes you and your site Ms. Schlussel, one of the very few blogsites that’s dependable, that’s oxymoronic to say about blogs).

Also, I think BigD has a point, here’s my logistics, rather me using a “red-herring” towards him and attacking, he claimed that he’s seen all of these stuff up-close, man-to-man in person, because he (BigD) used to work in nightclubs and other venues. Maybe, just maybe this Jay-Z character in actuality don’t quite condone of “discriminating towards white’s in VIP areas”, could it be that Mr. Jay-Z was pressured from someone higher up to do such racist and bigoted absurdity?

Nevertheless, at the very sametime, I’ve said this over and over again on countless occasions on this blog, that I don’t condone and/or endorse any sort of supremacy in general, whether it’s racial/ethnic, religious, political, or any forms of dogma supremacy, it’s totally polarizing and divisive!

@ HK, Yes HK, I’m in Sacramento, not huge metropolis, but being that we have a NBA team means we have a decent concert venue, actually we have two decent venues, and I’ve been apart of many many after parties, from Sac to SF. HK, this is how it happens, the manager for the club and the club promoter talk, the manager is wants to know how whats the capacity, security concerns, how long they have to be there, and if you can pay their price.

The club just wants a packed club, the money comes from the liquor sales, Period. They put a stars name on the flyer and hope it draws them in. I’ve yet to see a performer be engaging after a concert when coming to sit in a club (again I am in Sac, so the nightlife is underwhelming too but…) and be engaging. They stay for the negotiated time and they are out.

Ask yourself, you just finished performing in front of thousands people, running around on stage, now you’re sitting with people that you don’t know, groupies, you’ve been performing for years so the novelty has worn off, you really aren’t going to be too social. Just make an appearance and then you’re out.

If it is THEY calling for segregation,(and we are witnessing this in some urban schools) should Brown v. Bd. of Ed. (1954) be repealed. Should Plessy v. Ferguson (1896) once again be the law of the land?

You should realize that in this technological day and age nothing is private anymore. Furthermore, when you hold a certain status and power you are held to higher expectations. Here’s a scenario: A certain black man, let’s pick Obama for example, has a “private conversation” in his home where he expresses his sentiment towards poor, white folks living in the Appalachians riddles with oxycontin addictions. Now, if that conversation gets leaked, is it something we should just ignore because it was private? I doubt you would feel the same…

I take it you’ve never been to a “club” because there’s a difference between getting in the club and getting into the roped off VIP section because the latter requires you paying a large premium for bottle service and staff. The whole point of VIP is to separate yourself from the rest of the club (black, white, or whatever).

I would also wager that by calling me racist against, in this case against whites, you assume I’m not Caucasian. That’s 0/2.

Big D, you have managed, as usual, to misunderstand me–and, unlike you, I write in standard English and should therefore be easy to understand.

To clarify, I am saying that in an important sense blacks, other minorities, and wimmon already have “taken over.” By this I mean that the typical white man’s life chances have been diminished by law and culture, just as those of others have been increased. Blacks, hispanics, and womon live a life of unearned privilege on average. They can work less or not at all and get benefits they do not deserve. For example, your typical inner-city ho doesn’t need to find a rich man–she has government to be her daddy and have all the brats she wants on our dime.

I am, therefore, not convinced that blacks are worse off on average because of the Democrats. (I generally am skeptical of claims that large sections of a public have no grip on their self-interest.)

Its a complete Dystopia. As the economy globalizes more, more technology, it isn’t going to get any better in those places. Just get further and further behind. (I’m talking on a large scale) in my opinion.

Well, yes and no. Even if inner city communities are dystopias, that doesn’t change the fact that white men have been turned into second class citizens as far as law and culture are concerned. It’s just that hard work among white men tends to offset their disadvantages.

But I’m not even convinced about the dystopia point. While there are dangers in the inner city that are less frequent in other areas, there is also easy access to illegal drugs, hookers, and off-the-book “employment” such as dealing drugs. Oh, and free food, free kids, free medical care, and so forth. The point is analogous (in extreme form) to the less rich lifestyle of most Euros in comparison to Americans. Yes, the Euros have smaller homes, inferior appliances, etc., but they also have way more free time, welfare, and job security (overall).

Evidently, most blacks prefer the advantages of “dystopias” over their disadvantages.

What blacks don’t understand is reverse racism doesn’t help their cause. They can’t gain sympathy if they themselves are racist too. Truthfully, everyone is racist deep down. Whites and Asians tend to suppress it more because Blacks and Hispanics will readily scream bloody racism. When the latter two groups make racist remarks or jokes, we don’t say anything because we know they will get angry for defending ourselves. That is one reason why the socioeconomic situation will never change because how can we sympathize with people that are openly racist against us. Why befriend someone that thinks of you as an enemy?
