Obamapocrisy of the Day: The “Income Inequality” Prez Shows Us What He Means

By Debbie Schlussel

Is it just me . . . or do you also notice the hypocrisy–no, the Obamapocrisy–when a multimillionaire President whines over and over again about “income inequality” as the greatest problem facing America, and yet his wife wears a Carolina Herrera haute couture designer gown with a price tag of $10,000 to $12,000?

michellobamacarolinaherrera

I have a great solution for the Obamas to show how much they hate America’s income inequality: start giving us little people your money to–ya know–make the incomes equal. Crickets chirping. Why not give the rest of us the income the Obamas made from their silly books? After all, you didn’t write that.

Oh, and please don’t give me the excuse that Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Hussein Obama Idi Amin Dada didn’t pay full price–or maybe any price–for the gown. Part of income inequality is wardrobe inequality, another grave problem facing America (except the ones who solve it by stealing sneakers). Is anyone giving you free ten-grand gowns to wear? Nope. Time for some Communism–er, Obamunism–to even things out.

The Real Housewife of No, You Di’in’t . . .

When she and doofus exit the White House, watch them pull a Clinton – they’ll take White House china, the dresses she has been bribed with, I mean received, etc. These 2 are the most hypocritical, corrupt and vile occupants of the WH, ever. That includes comparison to the Clintons.

Concerned Citizen on February 12, 2014 at 12:45 pm

She can start by giving me the gown. I think it’s gorgeous, even if what’s inside isn’t.

Meira on February 12, 2014 at 12:45 pm

Interesting article, Debbie, for a few reasons, one of them being my own economic situation, which is directly related to what has happened in this country over the past few years. I type what may be one of my last comments for a while, as I await the loss of my internet service due to non-payment. I may be able to hook on through a cousin’s network in town, and the network the friend I stay with in NJ has, when I arrive back there on the 20th.

You have an incredible knack for combining your hilarious sense of humor with the hardcore analysis and biting commentary that goes light years toward illustrating the ludicrous and hypocritical nature of modern American culture. Your humor, wisdom and observations are greatly appreciated.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 12, 2014 at 12:49 pm

Alfred, try to maintain your optimism – this can’t last forever, and, in the process, the Obamas are inadvertently “growing” the conservative numbers.

Meanwhile, there are free terminals at public libraries. Do what I did when without access – I wrote my posts offline, and use “clip page” apps to save my internet reading for offline. Not always the best, certainly not as timely, but it worked.

LindaF on February 12, 2014 at 1:29 pm

Thanks for the vote of optimism, and the tip. As for the optimism, the worst of times has to hit us at some point. Everything is lining up. Check Meira’s post on the Shirley Temple thread.

And I will try my cousin’s network in town when I lose my service. If it works there, I’ll know it will work at my friend’s in NJ. And if that doesn’t work, I have the tip you gave me. Thanks again.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 12, 2014 at 1:41 pm

And then of course there are the state dinners. The menu of the French dinner contained a number of unhealthy items such as beef and the rich desserts loaded with saturated fat, not to mention the calories. Not what Mrs. Obama recommends for school children.

Although I guess it doesn’t matter, because she and her husband will get outstanding health care, not like the rest of us who are suffering from Obamacare.

Little Al on February 12, 2014 at 12:51 pm

Shhhhhhh!!! Little Al, it’s unconstitutional to blame Obamacare for anything. ROTFLMAO!!!

I keep going back to the picture Debbie has above, of when they were young. The First Muslim Lady-In-Chief almost ALWAYS wears that scowl. In one form or another, she is almost always scowling. Even in the picture showing her in the gown with the five figure price tag, there’s no real smile. She can’t even smile correctly. These are two of the most contempt filled, hate filled people that have ever hit the public eye in America.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 12, 2014 at 1:01 pm

Alfredo, Michelle has a malformed jaw. Her lower jaw is significantly forward of her upper. She requires the surgery that Carol Burnette had so many years ago although Michelle’s malformation is actually worse so I don’t even know if it could be done. Anyway, it is major surgery and not to be taken lightly. If she doesn’t have dental problems as a result, probably better to leave it alone. Who wants their jaw broken, bone removed and be wired together for months afterward, plus corrective dental work?
I mention this because it is unfortunate in a public figure but it is wrong to be critical of a physical flaw that is not her fault. When she does actually smile, it’s not so noticeable but it’s not always appropriate to smile broadly in public. We need to stick to politics, and not criticize people for their physical imperfections. Major surgery is always risky and I would suffer the rude comments before I went under any anesthetic, but that’s just me.

The Obamas have a Gilded Age lifestyle, and yet howl perpetually about oppression and income inequality.

This article written is horrible, and the comments that follow are garbage. What president hasn’t received the benefit of being president or first lady. Good Grief. This is silly, plain silly.

Big D, I guess D stands for Dimwit. Presidents aren’t really First Ladies are they?

Article written good – your comprehension bad.
Obama receive unequal “benefit” and income but complain about unequal income benefits like crying baby.
You understanding meaning of hypocrisy yet?

I guess you’re too young or choose not to recall the grief that Nancy Reagan and Laura Bush received from people like you when they were First Ladies. Anyway, here’s another Obama outrage, as people suffer the results of the Obamanomics.

JeffT on February 12, 2014 at 7:26 pm

D, Barack Obama howls against the wealthy, and has done so during his entire political career. But, he has at the same time become a millionaire. This occurred prior to his becoming President of the United States. Barack is like a prostitute calling a stripper a whore, which is a laughable thing. You can worship power like common vermin, but do not think that you are doing anything other than that.

    worry01 on February 12, 2014 at 9:01 pm

Except Big D, most other presidents didn’t complain about income inequality, American hegemony and imperialism, and pointing fingers at others, when it was their own policies causing the malaise.

I was away for 44 days, but came back after getting clarification on certain things. I will lose my internet service for non-payment very soon, but may be able to get on my friend’s network when I get back to NJ next Thursday. Headed back up there for work, and continuing to try and dig myself out of this financial mess I’m in. Headed out to the fields now, delayed by rain.

Glad you’re okay, always wonder about people’s health, household situations when I don’t see regulars around for a while. Went to Skunky’s web site recently, appears to be active, but hard to tell if she’s okay or not. Hope so. Some people are in and out, as you said, some go away, come back after a time. I’m more the type to be a regular, so it’s a bit confusing when I don’t see certain folks.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 12, 2014 at 3:06 pm

We can’t know what silent regulars think, but I will be a public minority here and say good riddance to Alfredo. Yes, he mixes his Hay-Soosing with lots of sometimes amusing tomfoolery, and yes, he’s lately taken to the occasional targeting of trolls and even Muslims, but such admixtures are necessary if his is to keep the good will necessary for his proselytizing.

Christians who do the Hay-Soos shuffle with Jews undermine a necessary coalition between Jews and Christians in regards to Islam in particular. And, while most minorities will never be Republicans, Jews could potentially shift their partisanship. But that is hindered when Christians proselytize.

Proselytizers are essentially advocating that Jews lose their connection to G-d. I guess I’m kind of bothered by that.

skzion on February 12, 2014 at 5:44 pm

skzion:”Christians who do the Hay-Soos shuffle with Jews undermine a necessary coalition between Jews and Christians in regards to Islam…”

Excellent point and so very true.

      DS_ROCKS! on February 12, 2014 at 6:46 pm

        Thanks buddy.

skzion on February 12, 2014 at 6:49 pm

Skzion I know that Alfredo is up front about his beliefs but I don’t know if you could call his posts proselytizing. Many people here are from different backgrounds.
I personally think that if Jews and Christians can’t get it together now the situation is hopeless.

Frankz on February 12, 2014 at 7:00 pm

Frankz, don’t buy Alfredo’s narrative. The issue isn’t being “up front.” Skunky is Catholic and doesn’t hide anything. The issue is that Alfredo is playing a nasty passive-aggressive game here, and I have come both to identify it as such and to loathe it.

The latest installment is his “Walking in the Desert for 44 Days” bit. Every time he does that, he’s taking a shot at me, because, in increasingly sharp fashion, I had objected to his proselytizing, and he decided to walk off in a (hurt, of course) huff. Yes, he’s such a martyr for his cause.

As for what counts as proselytizing, don’t be naive. He hasn’t even denied he’s doing this. He’s giving personal testimony (sharing the “good news”) about his savior. He’s done this repeatedly, sometimes very directly in explaining how Jesus saved his life.

It couldn’t be more obvious to me that he knows full well that such behavior is noxious to at least some Jews here. But he doesn’t care. In introducing this tension between Christians and Jews, he does indeed make a coalition between them more difficult.

Hey, I don’t spend my time here advocating for hot man-on-man sex and telling you how it changed my life, do I? I don’t even spend my time advocating “coming out,” though I do think this is worth doing. I respect the norms of the group because I care about the group’s “superordinate goal.”

skzion on February 12, 2014 at 9:46 pm

skzion, I actually agree with you about the proselytizing but you need to take that up with Debbie. She apparently has given Alfredo, with whom I discussed this, the green light to post as he will.
And yes, he did, on another thread, post that Hesus was the only way to Heaven and salvation. That’s pretty prosylitic. In my universe that crosses the line. It’s fine to say, “I believe that I am saved, etc.etc” but telling me what I need to do to get “saved,” Uhuh.

Meira on February 13, 2014 at 2:43 am

Well, Meira, I don’t know what Debbie and Alfredo said to each other, but I am not willing to accept hearsay. Anyway, I am not campaigning for Alfredo’s banning. He and I have a disagreement. He writes about his position; I write about my own. I rather doubt that Debbie guaranteed the behavior of other participants.

Look, I have matched Alfredo’s own level of escalation. His latest Walk in the Desert for 44 Days schtick–which he has repeated a few times already–finally brought me to wish for his departure.

skzion on February 13, 2014 at 11:23 am

take it easy Alfredo, hope you’re back soon

Frankz on February 12, 2014 at 6:51 pm

Frankz, I appreciate very much your vote of confidence, and your posts are interesting, because it gives me a chance to explain myself. And since I thought I had good vibes with DS_ROCKS!, I am disappointed to find he believes I belong to people who undermine any potential coalition of Jews and Christians.

There is NO ONE HERE, who will be able to trap me in these words I am about to say. Perhaps that’s because of all the years I spent working for attorneys. Perhaps it’s because of the way I’ve been Missundasztood all my life. People can be very selective with criticism, remembering certain things about someone, but conveniently forgetting others. I know EXACTLY what I’ve said in 14 months here on this web site, of which I believe my posting time is more like 13 months.

Debbie’s articles often give themselves over to end time type discussions, general political and social commentary. This leads to the mention of things other than Dreidels, Hamantashen and Kasha Varnishkas.

Also, I have not “recently” taken after trolls and Muslims, it’s been more than recent. But first, I had to observe, then I had to dip my feet in the water, see how that went over with hostess and members, and then jump in the pool and swim. Anyone remember The No Peanuts Allowed Football Game? That wasn’t recent. Of the 500+ comments, who dug in and slugged it out with the trolls more? Muslims? I’ve been up front for a long time. I didn’t start with that 15 minutes ago.

And as for Jews, I’ve never forgotten about my mother’s ancestry, which goes back to two Jews, one Ukrainian and one Polish, who fled to Ellis Island in 1905. Half my DNA, REGARDLESS OF WHO I BELIEVE THE MESSIAH IS, is Jewish.

As for paying tribute to Jewish contributions to the human race, I’ve made plenty mention of deceased Pastor General Herbert W. Armstrong, whose church imploded several years after his death in early 1986. I’ve made plenty mention that Armstrong taught that the TRUE Sabbath is Saturday, as OBSERVED BY THE JEWS, and not Sunday, as observed by professing Christians throughout the world.

I’ve made plenty mention that Armstrong taught that Christmas, Easter, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, etc., are all bogus observances, and that the only TRUE FESTIVALS OF THE ONLY GOD ALMIGHTY are The Passover, Days Of Unleavened Bread, Day Of Atonement, Feast of Trumpets, Feast of Tabernacles, etc., which the world MISTAKENLY thinks of as only “Jewish holidays,” but which in fact are for everyone to observe.

I’ve made plenty mention that Armstrong taught that Israel was, as THE BIBLE ITSELF (Old Testament, in fact) says, to be a model nation for the world, that if the world had a lick of sense, it would want to be like Israel, to know and embrace their ways, to worship Israel’s God, and to live under the laws and observances of The God Of Israel.

Oh yeah, I’ve engaged in SO MUCH Jew bashing and coalition destroying tactics here.

As for Hay-Soosing, yeah, my cousin comes up every day to bring hay to the horses he keeps in the fields up by my house.

As for Dr. Seuss, my mother read his books to me as a child. Don’t know much about him, but if I find out he was a bad guy, I’ll turn my back on Sam I Am.

But anyone who searches the archives here, can find out exactly what I’ve said, and when. I’m like a well prepared attorney. I KNOW the history and thrust of my words.

And thanks be to God Almighty for keeping my internet service turned on when I got in from the fields.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 12, 2014 at 8:57 pm

Another overlong, largely irrelevant comment from Alfredo. I’m not willing to spend a long time dissecting it.

His own testimony actually confirms my claims. He did nothing material about trolls until the peanutters, where he was indeed an indefatigable warrior. This, despite his claim to the contrary, was not too long ago, given the number of months he had been participating (13?). He has had precious little to say about Islam, though he has stepped that up a bit recently. It certainly seems that he boosts the frequency of comments on core issues of this blog strategically. Whether he does this consciously is not something I can determine.

The fact remains that he is the only regular who goes a-Hay-Soosing here. Other regulars are willing to look beyond what may be their personal “issues” for the greater good.

Those who are interested in theory might review The Semi-Sovereign People by E. E. Schattschneider. There you will find discussion of the idea that the suppression of certain lines of cleavage is essential if other lines of cleavage are to be prosecuted. In other words, if you have a fight about Islam, do not highlight disagreements about other issues.

skzion on February 12, 2014 at 11:27 pm

Alfredo! it’s not half your DNA that’s Jewish, it’s ALL OF YOUR SOUL that is! A Jewish Mother? Don’t throw that away. Come back, you won’t regret it!

(ps, not yelling, tags don’t work)

Meira on February 13, 2014 at 2:47 am

The biggest problem, Alfredo, with Armstrong’s “love” of Israel is that it was not a love of modern day Jews. it was Replacement Theology. He taught that the church had replaced historical Israel thru the death and resurrection of Hesus. Supposedly, The WWCOG rejected that position a number of years ago but problems remained and those Evangelicals who do recognize JEWISH ISRAEL and our not needing Hesus to “be saved, ” are still leery of WWCOG teaching.

Hypocrisy!!! Obamapocrisy!!!

Well Debbie, let’s figure this out. Tis black history month. Why? Is it because they contributed to the building of America? Is it because affirmative action requires it?
Or could it be, that as a racist country, we are obligated to showcase the values of a poor black boy? Oh, the latter mention of a racist country, I meant how racist blacks are. Hmmm! Go figure!!

Hypocrisy!!

Jeff Foxworthy put it best when he said “you must be a redneck if….”

Well, being that it is black history month, let’s see if we can’t appease black history and call it as it is, kinda like Mr. Foxworthy.

You must be a po lil black boy, if you listen to rap or hiphop as a sleep aid.

You must be a po lil black boy, if you knowingly commit a crime, get caught, whine the race card, act stupid, and repeat

You must be a po lil black boy, if your name is obama, get a token scholarship to Harvard (yeah), graduate (yeah), organize community social ventures, become black political “assumption”, run for president of the United States of America and WIN by default.

You must be a po lil black boy, if you think by voting for a brutha, you’ll get away with murder and show black pride.

You must be a real po lil black boy, if you believe that obama is an iconic hero just because he is black.

Simpleminded? Sure!! But Debbie hit the nail on the head.

You see, thee most hypocritical people outside of muslims, are blacks. They over emphasize their plight. Their plight is based on both patheticism and ignorance. They have every right to be concerned about racism as it is their coming implosion. Jackson, sharpton, obama, holder, congressional black caucus, naacp, and the list goes on. This list contains criminals and deviant fraudulents. Blacks no longer have a plight, well, they do but it is their own creation.

Slavery no longer exists. But then again, whites are now the enslaved by illiterate black leadership who confines their argument to the continuous mistreatment of blacks. Whites have to suck it up now, or so they think, because it is the politically correct thing to do.

The only reason why obama got elected was because “he was black”. But, if you remember correctly, to get the white vote, what did he do? He overly stressed the fact that his family was Irish. After the election, and to know surprise, he went into dipshit mode. “I am black, not white”

Trayvon martin, po lil black boy killed by a gun weilding, half white half mexican fella. Was anybody there? Besides zimmerman and martin, were there any blacks around? Obama was. After all, martin was obama’s “dream boy”. A son!!
Well obama, where were you when three moulinyans/blacks, were driving around “looking for whites” outside the U.S. Army base, Ft. Lewis, WA. Finding their white target, they got out and just proceeded to stab the American Soldier to death. Later learning that the black thug murderers were soldiers, or at least held the title.
This was only headline news for one, maybe two days, and not on the national media radar. Local news only!!

Hypocrisy??

As a well educated and retired American Soldier, I openly challenge any black, obama, holder, naacp, congressional black caucus or any other womb rejected black “leader” (as if) to publicly honor and support that White American Soldier.

Woww!! I was “dreaming” there for a moment.

Patheticism = black = ignorant = irresponsible.

Abolish affirmative action!!

An example of black laziness and social irresponsibility would be those American Idol type shows. When whites get up and sing, they cross all genres of music and when blacks get up and sing, they only sing their genre of music.

Hypocrisy??

When television networks play into the “whoa is me because I am black” whine, thst is hypocrisy. When networks put some womb rejected, piss poor, mama was on drugs looking arsenio hall on a very open network for all genres and all his guests are black, that is hypocritical.

Hypocrisy?? Obamapocrisy?? Blackocrisy??

Blacks are trying really hard to reinvent 60’s racism because that is all they are capable of. Look around, hypocrisy is now the theme for liberals and the stupid.

Hypocrisy… look no further than the white house…

They have their chosen wunderkind in the highest office in the land. And of course, with 60’s radicals The Great StainMaker and Hitlary Rotten Cu_ton standing in the background, awaiting their second turn, as well more than half the nation, including a good deal of Congress, drunk, drugged up and mis-educated, it is succeeding all too well.

Meira on February 13, 2014 at 11:59 am

Meira, her malformed jaw, if it really is, doesn’t keep her facial muscles from forming a smile. Her sickening, racist, hateful attitude does that!

Ok!!

Income inequality!!

The hell is that?

Oh, I get it!! The new America rising of hopes, dreams, and change. The era of socialism. Now, if I am wrong, please tell me, but……

Blacks have fought for their rights to be absolute. Correct? Through the sixties and to the point in American history when a black was to President of the United States of America. This black ingrate obama, now wants to take that effort and slap blacks across the face. Blacks, of all people, should be giving obama the finger, but, remember now, the real meaning of income inequality is “redistribution”. Then again, why would they give him the finger?

Redistribution. The new modern welfare system.

Free cell phones, getting away with murder, and mocking the Constitution by devaluing it’s purpose. Just look at the treasonous acts of clinton and that piss reject holder. Blacks appear to be roaming in circles. Stupified and not realizing the shady ill fated intentions of obama.

IRS scandal, Benghazi, foreign policy failures across the board and not to mention obamacare. This miserable, filthy, backstabbing, socialist womb reject only thrives because of his tunnel worshipping followers too stupid to realize dysfunction.

Income inequality?? Redistribution??

Obama and his cast of two legged toilet bowl residue must go..

skzion, I guess you could check with Debbie if it’s that important. Sorry, there was no reply button below your post. I will tell you this tho, that the Evangelicals I knew down South loved being harassed and “persecuted.” It’s right in line with something Hesus said so it confirms, in their minds, they’re doing something right.

Meira on February 13, 2014 at 11:54 am

Meira, I know all about what went on after Armstrong’s death. Interesting that you should encourage me to also reject his teachings, going along with the crowd. The reason I find it interesting, is because Debbie and many others on this web site encourage critical thinking, rather than group think, yet you seem to believe that because many in Armstrong’s congregation deserted his teachings, that I should join them in doing so.

Ever hear of David C. Pack, and The Restored Church of God? Did you know that many individuals like myself, and groups throughout the world, are still adhering to Armstrong’s teachings?

And please don’t ascribe certain words to me. I am not “saved.” No one has been saved yet, according to Armstrong’s teachings, which I accept.

And as for you getting offended at my belief and statement, that there is only one path to God, so what? When you read that statement, did a bullet come through your window and hit your husband in the chest with the name Alfredo’s Statement About God written on the bullet? Did your refrigerator stop running? Was there no food at the store, with a sign saying that “This is because of that close minded rat on Debbie Schlussel’s web site, Alfredo?”

Your life really got a lot harder as a result of that statement, that I believe in only one path to God, didn’t it? And what about people like me, who look around the world, see everyone believing in so many different things? We’re not allowed to get offended, when we believe we see such a clear and singular path? Of course not, because we’re the close minded ones. Everyone KNOWS there are MANY paths to God. Getting offended is a one way street evidently. You’re allowed, but I’m not.

I see, hear and read many things every day, all around me, that could potentially “offend” me, or “cross the line” as you put it. Is it really that precious to you, to get offended?

Don’t worry, I didn’t come here to pick up more members for The Restored Church of God. Don’t forget what I said about my history here. First, observance, then participation, carefully, dipping my feet in the water, then, increased activity, then taking more license, dealing with trolls, revealing my true feelings about Islam, getting more comfortable, seeing what is agreeable to our hostess, and ESTABLISHING WHO I AM!!!

Also, that is necessary for new members and trolls, to occasionally review who you are. Now that I’ve been here for 14 months, about 13 or perhaps a little more, actually posting, I can settle in to a long term phase of my membership.

    Get it?

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 13, 2014 at 12:12 pm

Alfredo, I’m glad to see that you’re still posting today. I frequently disagree with some of the things that you say, but things would be pretty dull if everyone thought the same way.

Little Al on February 13, 2014 at 12:50 pm

Thank you for your kindness, Little Al, really appreciated.

It’s not as if I wandered on to this web site thinking I could drum up new members for The Restored Church Of God. I am a pretty intelligent guy, and had a college level reading score in the seventh grade. I don’t proselytize, I emphasize. But because what I emphasize is so “offensive” to so many people and because getting offended became a nationwide epidemic beginning 25-30 years ago, there are people who are always compelled to let others know how offended they are.

I meant what I said in my post to Meira above. Lives, and memberships on web sites, go through phases. I have obviously passed through the beginning phase of my membership here, and am now in to my intermediate phase. I’ve pretty well established who I am by now. I can forge ahead in to a more advanced phase of my membership, as time goes on.

Just for the record, you said something that if I wanted to, could have gotten extremely offended at, way back last May. Another member followed up your comment with a sarcastic smacking around.

What did I do? I understood the reason behind what you said, didn’t JUMP to get OFFENDED, recognized your standing as a senior member, and didn’t go off on a tangent. You didn’t address the substance of what I said. But I kept silent, being very new here at the time, and also recognized that the overwhelming majority of what you have to say has been informative and educational.

I recognized that to try and pick that one statement apart and to get offended, would have been to dismiss the overall body of your work that I had already become familiar with, including my perusal of the archives. I stayed shut, got over it, and moved on. Since that time, I have only come to appreciate you even more. And WHO, was the FIRST one, to welcome me back with words of kindness and acceptance, after my 44 day self-imposed hiatus? None other than you, Little Al. And you have not failed to continue your kindness.

I didn’t bring up that little “incident” to review it. It is a grain of sand on a monstrous beach, and I understood perfectly your reasons for saying it, even if you were overlooking the substance of what I said, to take a jab at me. I don’t engage in personal attacks, I don’t get involved in tiresome, non-productive discussions, and I have desires only for peace between all people. Where there can be no peace, I separate myself from such people.

So, thank you again, Little Al. Your kindness is appreciated to the point of being inspirational.

Alfredo from Puerto Rico on February 13, 2014 at 1:40 pm

More endless blathering from Alfredo, this time in response to Little Al and Meira. Here’s what’s new.

          (1) “I don’t proselytize, I emphasize.”

Lol! So, after all these months, he’s now denying that he proselytizes? It’s absurd. In truth, most Christians believe that they should proselytize, but most Christians here choose not to do so in this forum. Alfredo is the only regular who does. But since what he says is consistent with what proselytizing Christians say, this is a distinction associated with no real difference.

          (2) Now we also have a full-fledged “lifecycle” model of blog participation, thanks to Alfredo, which ends in “ESTABLISHING WHO I AM!!!” To summarize, we have someone in his late 60s-early 70s who is using a blog that focuses on Islam and illegal immigration and that includes a Jewish blogress and many Jewish regulars for group therapy? It seems that this is indeed the ultimate point of Alfredo’s participation: that he can reach a position here to make the blog about him and his issues. It seems to be working for him, at least in part.

          (3) Now let’s consider the appropriate way of handling someone who proselytizes Jews. From Deuteronomy 13:7-12:

          Should even your brother the son of your mother, your son, your daughter, or your beloved wife, or your dearest friend, try to seduce you secretly, trying to convince you to go and worship the gods of others, that your ancestors did not know, gods of the nations around you, whether near or far, from one end of the earth to the other;

Do not like this person, and do not listen to him, do not have mercy upon him to save him, do not give him the benefit of the doubt, and do not cover up for him.

You must utterly kill him, your hand should be the first to kill him, and the hand of all the nation should follow you. You must pelt him with stones until he dies, because he tried to push you away from Hashem your G-d, Who took you out of Egypt, from the house of slavery.

And all of Israel will hear and fear, and they will not continue to do this terrible thing amongst you.”

Now, this is, as usual, a difficult passage. I’ve seen nothing from Rashi that helps us apply this to today. However, we can draw out certain ideas. This seems to apply to Eretz Israel most immediately, and the rules there are different from those in Galut. So, it is not necessarily required to kill a proselytizer. Further, it’s virtually impossible for a capital offense to end in an execution of a Halachic Jew, which Alfredo may (or may not) be. (Execution was basically ended because otherwise far too many would be executed.) And, in a conflict-of-laws situation (Torah vs. US law), Jews must obey US law.

HOWEVER, one can NOT glean from this passage that proselytizers should be smiled at and befriended. It doesn’t matter that one can personally deflect sales pitches. It doesn’t matter whether or not one is personally offended. Judaism is not solely about the individual.

skzion on February 13, 2014 at 6:50 pm

Oh, yes, I get it! However, I do NOT believe there are many paths to God, not at all. But what’s sad about Evangelicals with transformative testimonies is that they’ve convinced themselves it’s a rabbi who died 2,000 years ago that changed them when even he taught that everything he did came from the Father. who is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He also taught his followers to pray to that God not to him but do you follow that teaching? Evangelicals HAVE set him up as an idol and they’ve created a second idol, hasatan, in opposition, to prove him. Let me tell you something, God doesn’t need proving. He IS that He IS and as your Father, you can turn to Him directly, you don’t need a go between.

Meira on February 13, 2014 at 6:40 pm

Oh, and Alfredo, I don’t get “offended,” but I do think some things are inappropriate at certain times and places. Life is too short to go around all the time in a state of high dudgeon.

Meira on February 13, 2014 at 6:44 pm

Listening to Rush, I just got to hear another sickening sound bite from The Muslim-In-Chief, a/k/a President I Can Do Anything I Want. Talking about how the Executive Order he just signed is going to help some “laundry worker” at Camp Dodd who is currently making $9.03/hr. have a better life, because now it will be a requirement to pay him at least $10.10/hr.

Yes, that’s The Community Organizer-In-Chief, making life better, for Debbie, for you, for me, for the whole nation, things are just getting better all over. And anyone who can’t see it, well it’s just over their head, that’s all.

Gotta fix that “income inequality” thing. Guess it’s just my blond hair getting in the way of my brains again.
