Photos of the Day: Dog Owners Did WHAT?!

By Debbie Schlussel

I’m not supporter of PETA–or as we call it on this site, “PUTAh–People for the Unethical Treatment of Animals and humans”–but if there was ever a time to ask, “Where’s PETA when you need ’em?” this is it! Check out what some woman did to her dog to win a competition. And other dog owners have done the same ludicrous thing. Um, G-d created a dog to look like a dog, not a bad hooked rug design from your great-aunt in 1973. Your dog is not supposed to look like the Muppets or a giraffe or the band KISS. It’s especially NOT supposed to look like a raccoon is permanently having sex with it. (Photos of all of that, below.) Sorry. It’s just wrong. And you probably have Waaaay. Tooooo. Muuuuch. Time on your hands.

More weird photos of this kind of absurdity perpetrated against dogs . . . .

I have a black German Shepherd Dog and I would never think of subjecting her to this kind of absurdity.

Agility and conformation show trials for dogs is one thing – but dressing them up to look cute is taking matters too far.

Canis lupus familiaris doesn’t deserve to be made to look cute – its a domesticated wolf, after all!

It is turning a dog into an arts and crafts project, which is an ugly thing to do.

    Worry01 on June 19, 2013 at 5:27 pm

I agree, Norman but this is just silliness. It doesn’t hurt the dogs in any way. I’m more concerned about “Grumpy Cat.” I thought her frown was weird. I’ve never had a cat look like that ever and I’ve had lots of cats, still do. But I saw an interview of her family on YouTube, originally it was on the Today show. That poor kitty is clinically depressed. She was very docile on the woman’s lap but she was squinting as if in pain and her frown was deeper. As she moved and was being stroked, she did not respond as a normal, contented kitty would. Here you have a family making money off of an animal in distress. That is the real abuse. I couldn’t stand to watch til the end. I really hope the people wake up and realize something is wrong and use some of the money they’ve made of the cat’s distress to have her taken care of.

I don’t understand why Debbie wastes time on this sort of stuff, her posts on illegal immigrant are much more relevant.
Stuff like this is just liberals and faux conservatives like Jedediah Bila being liberals.

My friend, this is DS’s blogsite, last I checked, she can just about put up any story she wants (as long what she forwards is factual, in which ALL of the stories she presents her are factual with evidence to back up), also, at a certain degree, we need a little break from the news, politics, etc., it can drive you insane and turn you into a wingnut mad-man (or mad-woman).

Now to the main topic, to me, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen something as these displays in these photos of the dogs and what their owners did to them. This is red-meat for PETA, and I’m pretty surprised that PETA hasn’t said anything about these unique looking displays what these dog-owners did to their pets.

I can’t stop laughing ! ! !

Yes, it’s wrong.

Yes, it’s criminal.

Yes, it’s immoral.

Yes, it’s unnatural.

Yes, it’s inexcusable.

BUT – – – ,

I can’t stop laughing ! ! !

John Robert Mallernee on June 19, 2013 at 5:56 pm

HOW did they even DO that?

John Robert Mallernee on June 19, 2013 at 5:58 pm

I adore animals and love graphic art. I saw this last evo and didn’t tweet it. It just didn’t seem right to me.

Just over-the-top. I can’t explain it. Something held me back.

I didn’t feel happy about it…more like kinda sad…

Too many mentally ill people running around loose.

RT on June 19, 2013 at 6:05 pm

Debbie, what the fuck is this?!?!!!?? This is for REAL? People took their dogs fur and did all that stylin’ and colorin’ stuff??!!!??! Serious?!?!!! I’ve seen stuff that I thought was way out, but this is light years beyond what I’ve previously been exposed to.

I agree TOTALLY with RT, and as for what Wtf said, even DEBBIE has to take a break sometimes. You can get what RT said, mentally ill, if you spend ALL your time doing what Debbie spends most of her time doing. This blog is God’s proof to us that Debbie is NOT mentally ill and has quite a sense of humor.

Some people have too much time on their hands. I get the dog is man’s best friend but have respect for them and don’t try to make them over into little humans!

NormanF on June 19, 2013 at 6:59 pm

Norman, I fear that they will try to turn them into house cats next. Every Fido has an inner Mittens longing to be released.

    😉

Man oh man if dogs could talk. What do you thinks they would say to owners like these.

Ken b on June 19, 2013 at 7:13 pm

    Bow-wow?

jassatt on June 20, 2013 at 4:13 pm

      jassatt,
I was looking along the lines of “Thanks dumbass for dressing me up like a freaking clown. How about we go play fetch in moving traffic. I’ll throw.” Thanks for playing though.

      Ken b on June 20, 2013 at 8:42 pm

I do not mind dressing up the dogs but what irritates me are those stupid dorks that do it. The same types you see at dog show do this. It really irritates me. I also despise of those dorky giant poodles with bows on their hair. Originally, poodles were bred as hunting dogs but people have turned them into wuss dogs.

Sorry, but on Halloween, our little Maltese wears a bumblebee costume or her Dale Evans costume (minus the six shooters). As she often wears coats and sweaters in the winter, there is no problem with this. (Maltese have hair, not fur. Fur is hollow and serves as an insulator. Hair has less insulation properties than fur).

One thing I do not approve of is dying the fur/hair of dogs. That is stupid and potentially dangerous.

Jonathan E. Grant on June 19, 2013 at 11:18 pm

I agree JEG. I love dressing up cute dogs. It’s fun, adorable and many dogs don’t mind. The ones that do will let you know.

This seemed just a bit over-the-top for me. I wouldn’t mind if they were costumes (that can be removed) but this just left me sad (even though I like the colours and the images).

Skunky on June 20, 2013 at 11:44 am

Are you sure those are dogs and not stuffed toys?

Miranda Rose Smith on June 20, 2013 at 2:17 am

No, you can see the quiet despair in their eyes. They are the JonBenet Ramseys of the dog world.

    Worry01 on June 20, 2013 at 3:00 am

I have just figured out it was a real dog, alive..

Mark on June 20, 2013 at 6:40 am

People should not have animals if they can’t treat them with the decency that the animal deserves. This is abuse plain and simple. Makes you kind of wonder what they would do with their kids. Thanks Debbie.

Reminds me of a joke …

The punch line is …

I had sex with a parrot one time a long time ago and I think you’re my son.

Pray Hard on June 20, 2013 at 11:51 am

Thanx for the one liner!!! I hope to remember it the next time someone keeps repeating what I say.

    Hilarious pictures.

Visteo on June 20, 2013 at 4:47 pm

Looks like abuse. I hope they don’t have kids to dress up like idiots.
