Are We Sure He’s Really a Genius? Stephen Hawking Joins Boycott of Israel

By Debbie Schlussel

**** UPDATE: To the morons who posted incorrect corrections and false stories that Hawking is not boycotting Israel, STOP. In fact, Hawking and his university confirmed he IS boycotting Israel, as I noted below. RIF–Reading Is Fundamental. Try it before premature articulation. That means you, Aaron Shafter, intellectually-challenged, bleeping a-hole, who compared me to Palestinian terrorists for posting a correct story. ****

Apparently, they got that computer that talks for Stephen Hawking to voice, “Heil Hitler!” Or, at least, the modern day version of it, which is “Boycott Israel!

Stephen Hawking’s Decline: From Brilliant Scientist to Jihadist

Renowned British physicist Stephen Hawking has pulled out of a June conference hosted by Israel’s President Shimon Peres, joining an academic boycott of the Jewish state, event organisers said on Wednesday. “Hawking joined the academic boycott of Israel and pulled out of the Israeli Presidential Conference: Facing Tomorrow 2013, under the auspices of President Peres,” they said in a statement.

The British Committee for the Universities of Palestine (BCUP), which supports the academic boycott of Israel and opposes its occupation of Palestinian territories, said Hawking had decided to observe the boycott and as a result had “declined his invitation.” “This is his independent decision to respect the boycott, based upon his knowledge of Palestine, and on the unanimous advice of his own academic contacts there,” it said on its website.

Britain’s Cambridge University, where Hawking has worked since 1962, confirmed he had pulled out, but initially said it was for health reasons. “Professor Hawking will not be attending the conference in Israel in June for health reasons — his doctors have advised against him flying,” a university spokesman told AFP.

However, BCUP later confirmed Hawking had endorsed its statement that his reason for pulling out of the conference was indeed a boycott. “The statement above has been issued with the specific endorsement of Professor Hawking’s office,” it said in a statement added to its site.

Whatta schmuck. For someone who’s known as such a genius, he’s actually a moron when it comes to reality.

Sad.

I have Stephen Hawking’s books in my library. Maybe I should burn them. Clearly, he’s replaced his vast store of scientific knowledge with the backward jihadist rantings of koranic verses. His book, “A Brief History of Time,” needs a sequel because history and time get more and more brief the more people embrace jihad.

Score another one for 13th Century “civilization.” Hawking hu Schmuckbar.

He is someone who has been living off of his reputation for years now. I would not burn his books, but simply turn them in to a used bookstore for cash. Dr. Hawking has diminished himself for the sake of a religion that would not tolerate his existence for a minute.

With this move Hawkings exposes himself as primarily a world class hack-ademic who sorely needs to book before he speaks on the subject of “Palestine”.

Like body like mind in the case of this esteemed physicist.

Israel needs “friends” like Hawking like it needs enemies.

Thankfully, I own none of his books!

Looks you got tiny but yet dysfunctional brain.

Alpha Bravo Charlie Delta Echo on May 8, 2013 at 1:33 pm

Idiot, the question is not Hawking’s opinion, stupid though it is. It is his support of an academic boycott, and his attempt to cast Israel outside the realm of civilized discourse because of his ‘difference of opinion.’

Little Al on May 8, 2013 at 2:25 pm

Having a Ph.D is so overrated!

People confuse intelligence with morality! They are not the same.

Israel won’t miss Stephen Hawking.

NormanF on May 8, 2013 at 1:41 pm

I’m not surprised at all. I’ve never considered Hawking to be brilliant at anything. He’s a competent physicist. That’s it. Is he an innovator? No. Has he won a Nobel prize in science (the real prizes, not the bullsheis prizes)? No.

Bottom line: Hawking knows that he has accomplished little of importance compared to the great Jewish/Israeli scientists, and Italian scientists for that matter.

As cutting edge science writer George Gilder would put it, referring to his esteemed book, “The Israel Test,” Hawking has flunked it. And he flunked it because of his sense of inferiority compared to the Israeli scientists.

However, this is one way to call attention to himself and to become a “winner” with the Leftist media. But even he knows the real score. He’s a just a B+ physicist and always will be for as long as he lives.

Ralph Adamo on May 8, 2013 at 9:28 pm

Ralph, you make some good points given you have a limited amount of time within which to make them.

Perhaps Stephen Hawking’s next book should be titled:
“A BRIEF HISTORY OF MY TIME WITH ISRAEL” – I think it could be a fantastic 1 Pager.

Dennis on May 9, 2013 at 7:47 am

The irony is someone as crippled as him would get the “Leon Klinghoffer” treatment from Muslims who do not tolerate weak and disabled persons.

As a completely deaf person, I have to say I’m offended at his behavior. Then again, nothing out of the UK is exactly a surprise these days. There are good reasons why its changing into Londonistan and why Mohammed is the most popular baby boys’ name in that country.

Its never too late to join the global jihad.

NormanF on May 8, 2013 at 1:49 pm

I put this guy in the same class as Bill Gates. Gates has an IQ of 160. How do we know? He said so! If this guy want to claim he is a genius, he can, but I don’t believe either one of them.

burt on May 8, 2013 at 1:58 pm

People can also score very differently on different IQ tests. A number of them have different standard deviations, so even, if Gates was telling the truth, an IQ of 160 on one test might turn out to be 140 or lower on another.

Little Al on May 8, 2013 at 2:33 pm

If you join BDS against Israel – you’re a moron and a moral cretin.

Being pro-Israel these days takes courage and perseverance. I know what side I am on.

And I don’t have Hawking’s IQ to know the right call to make here.

NormanF on May 8, 2013 at 2:07 pm

Genius in one field doesn’t prove any intelligence in another. History is full of geniuses who made silly pronouncements (Edison and the AC-DC controversy is one example). He has also made some other nutty observations in the past too. Same as celebrities who do the same. I also wonder what his current wife’s politics are as an influence here.

Richard on May 8, 2013 at 2:19 pm

Richard, you are exactly right. Some of the most intelligent (as determined by IQ tests) people I know are some of the most miserable excuses for human beings I’ve ever met. One case in point, a young man of my acquaintance who has an IQ in excess of 165; TWO Ivy League undergraduate degrees in science; a Master’s degree from MIT; a PhD from Duke in a science field – and the guy doesn’t have the sense to come in out of the rain. Of course, he is a leftie, and he ALWAYS thinks he is the smartest person in the room and is extremely arrogant about it. He can’t hold a job because he is such an arrogant jerk. Frankly, Bill Gates probably would not have been able to hold a job if he didn’t own the company, as his arrogance is legendary. So since this guy I’m talking about does NOT own his own company, he is 35 and, yes, still lives in his parents’ basement. Intelligence is highly overrated. So are Ivy League degrees. Give me a reasonably intelligent Michigan grad with ambition and common sense and I’ll show you a success.

DG in GA on May 8, 2013 at 5:45 pm

      Really?
U r comparing a basic graduate from Michigan to one of the greatest innovators of our time.
While it is true that Superior intellect does not mean you have to agree with someone on every point. Or that they are even right on every point, but come on.
The computer I am writing this message on is Windows based as well as the majority of home computers or Laptops in the world.
Genius and innovation go hand in hand. I do not agree with everything that Thomas Edison has said but to not acknowledge his genius or place in history is idiotic.

Sanjay on May 8, 2013 at 11:42 pm

He’s the Mel Gibson of science. People reveal their true beliefs not only from they say but what they don’t say.

Hawking can’t find a good word to say about Israel! That is telling enough.

NormanF on May 8, 2013 at 6:30 pm

@Aarab Shafter

Just as bad huh Aaron?
Can you explain why the British Committee for the Universities of Palestine (BRICUP) would feel qualified to speak on behalf of Stephen Hawking’s intentions?
Fabricating a story is not the same as reporting it Aaron.

“Organizers said an email from Hawking cited the boycott as a reason not to attend.” – MailOnline

Norman, Aaron is most likely not a Jew even though he quotes an Israeli source.

Frankz on May 8, 2013 at 2:40 pm

Hawking’s legacy and relevance has become increasingly questionable in recent years so joining the boycott might be seen as an effort to maintain his public profile.

Frankz on May 8, 2013 at 2:44 pm

I know this is bad of me but Hawking gives me the creeps. I apologize for my meanness but he does.

lexi on May 8, 2013 at 2:56 pm

I didn’t need this story to refute your garbage Aaron. Try doing a little research before posting a rebuttal.

With friends like you who needs enemies?

Frankz on May 8, 2013 at 3:21 pm

This just proves that you can be highly educated and be very brilliant at many stuff, but a total dumbass on issues such as this which pertains to humanity and sanity. To me, Stephen Hawking is an educated moron, simple as that, clearly the man is totally indoctrinated with propaganda coming from arab regimes and Islamic regimes across the middle east when they slander and defame Israel.

I support Israel regarding humanity, sanity, reasoning, etc., rather than for religious issues where the religious-right here in the US support Israel for that (it’s the religious right’s opinion to support Israel for religious issues).

And I don’t know what religious preference Mr. Hawking is, if he’s an atheist or agnostic and he supports the arab causes, then he’s a bigger dumbass then I can imagine. If he’s an atheist or agnostic, those who are agnostic & atheist living in arab and muslim nations are treated like dogsh*t, their persecuted, executed to death because of their belief system, discriminated against, etc., and we all know that’s a fact of reality on how muslims in the middle east treat Christians, jews, atheists, agnostics, pagans, humanists, feminists, etc.

“A nation is defined by its borders, language & culture!”

Sean R. on May 8, 2013 at 3:27 pm

Some people say that Hawking’s head is in the stars, but I think it is up his ass. He has been riding (literally) on his reputation for more than thirty years. Had he not had ALS, would anyone be listening to him? Incidentally, the technologies he uses to move and communicate were partially developed in, gasp, ISRAEL. Let’ help him boycott Israel and toss him out of his chair. Don’t worry, he has a lousy right hook. Typical British anti-Semite.

Jonathan e. Grant on May 8, 2013 at 3:40 pm

    Jon,

Some Wise Guys are really “WiseGuys.”

And you’re right about the irony of him having gotten as far as he did in life with Israeli technologies.

Israel doesn’t need to beg Hawking to come. Lowering itself before the Turks was bad enough!

There’s no need to gratify British anti-Israel haters with displays of Jewish groveling before them.

NormanF on May 8, 2013 at 4:13 pm

Of course, no Israeli biggie would ever mention the debt Hawking has to Israel.

Oh, apparently Peace Now says that Bibi is showing “restraint” in building in the territories. Israel has already accepted the Muslim narrative. This frees up anti-Israel forces.

I suppose its apropos that an adulterer would turn out to be a visceral anti-Semite.

Jews don’t have to justify their existence to the Hawkings of this world!

NormanF on May 8, 2013 at 6:20 pm

Hawking first accepts the invitation to attend, then waits until the event is about to start and gives notice that he is declining attending because of his support for the Palestinians; all done in an effort to generate negative publicity against Israelis. Like a lot of Christians, Hawking cloaks his anti-Semitism behind a veil of supposed support for the Palestinians.

King David on May 8, 2013 at 5:02 pm

Hawking’s did not come up with the expanding universe concept. His best work was over 30 years ago and was probably based on the work of Jewish graduate students.

Hawking’s was not an Einstein nor was he a Di Vinci or Copernicus. His greatest achievement was cheating on his wife even while in a crippled state, and promoting himself as view scientists would even think to do.

He is a douchebag on wheels.

Self ingratiating moral cowards like Hawkins(who’s robot voice has possibly been hijacked)

I’m not sure to what extent Hawkins is now a managed entity since even his university no longer seems to know his position.

Frankz on May 8, 2013 at 5:18 pm

As Will Rogers said, “there’s nothing more ignorant than an educated man outside the area of his education,” and Dr. Hawking proves that again.
I have often said that money gives you the opportunity to fully express the depth and breadth of your stupidity, because having money does not guarantee you have sense (see the Rogers quote above).
And as for Hawking and his nurse, aren’t men about as faithful as their situation demands? The wealthier a man is, the less likely he is to be faithful. See above.

Windy Wilson on May 8, 2013 at 5:20 pm

I think Hawkins may now be a hostage of his carers, he’s been gradually losing control of communications many of which are now interpreted.

You had a similar situation with Bertrand Russel towards the end of his life where he was essentially hijacked in his senility.

To live as long as he has lived with ALS is nothing short of amazing. He is a brilliant physicist for goodness sake, the likes of which there are hundreds. He is not the Messiah. I have read his scholarly works as required reading, but I couldn’t give a shit what he has to say about much of anything else.

“I think that kind of stuff is generally destructive and incendiary. I want to look at Muslim brothers and sisters, especially the ones who are American citizens as just that,” stated Associate Pastor Rocky Marlowe of United Methodist Church of Kirkwood.

Frankz on May 8, 2013 at 7:22 pm

“The British Committee for the Universities of Palestine (BCUP), which supports the academic boycott of Israel …”

What few realize is that the first Palestinian institutions of high learning were established by … Israel. Yep. By 1967, when Israel took over the territories there wasn’t a single college to be found.

I’m also intrigued by Hawking’s reference to advice from “Palestinian colleagues”. Given that he no doubt has far more Jewish and/or Israeli colleagues in his discipline, are they too engaged in their work, or too disinterested in Hawking’s foolish politics? And how ironic that some of the leading research on ALS is taking place in the one place he chooses to boycott.

Raymond in DC on May 8, 2013 at 7:48 pm

    Raymond,

Correct! Before 1967, there were NO institutions of higher education for Arabs in Judea and Samaria and Gaza. They were ALL established by Israel!

But an academic like Hawking can’t be bothered to learn the obvious facts. What passes for conventional wisdom in the West these days is that the Jews are the fount of all evil!

Constant repetition of anti-Israel lies doesn’t make them more true.

NormanF on May 8, 2013 at 9:13 pm

You know, Norman, I wouldn’t mention building colleges for Amalekites as if were a fine achievement. The Muslims should have been expelled or killed. The elite of Israel did the opposite, probably to make sure Israel would always have Muslims to use against Jews.

That’s why I don’t much care about Hawking’s sudden open support of BDS. What could one expect when the most basic mitzvot–as outlined by Rambam–are ignored?

skzion on May 8, 2013 at 11:06 pm

        Skzion,

Having well-educated enemies was a dumb thing for Israel to have created in the first place.

There is no proof at all for the notion that education makes people more tolerant, civilized or enlightened.

The Nazi killers all had advanced degrees. Should we conclude from that they were ethical people or simply well-educated barbarians? The same is true of Islamic terrorists educated under Israeli aegis.

I agree with you that is nothing to celebrate or take pride in. Jews happen to be their own worst enemies.

Jack on May 9, 2013 at 12:46 am

You know it’s worth remarking that even Hawking’s scientific achievements are exaggerated, many of his fellow physicists, astrophysicists and the like feel that way. That there are others more deserving of fame who the general public don’t have a clue about (and dare I say it, many of them are Jewish). Hawking’s work on exploding black holes is entirely speculative and unproven (it’s why he has never won the Nobel Prize. The pro-Israel economist Steven Plaut for one just wrongly assumes he has won it in Plaut’s otherwise good article taking Hawking to task at his blog for example). Hawking is also dependent for his scientific ideas/speculations re black holes on numerous others who came before him, who the general public don’t know about – such as Schwarzschild and Bekenstein. Hawking holds the Newton chair at Cambridge which gives him a big boost as far as his scientific reputation is concerned, and his tragic disease also is used to pump up his reputation, as in ‘the poor invalid genius’. A lot of is marketing.

Also Hawking’s philosophy is third-rate, his ‘the universe came into existence from nothing, it created itself’ is laughable, and he has rightly been taken to task for this from a fair number of philosophers of science and even his fellow physicists.

PS Richard Dawkins is also anti-Semitic (look it up, if you seek ye shall find) but nobody with a clue considers him a great scientist, just a popular science popularizer.

Larry in Tel Aviv on May 9, 2013 at 3:06 am

Hawking and Dawkins are both fourth rate philosophers. Dawkins is a nasty piece of work. Hawking is sore that he was not included in a list of the greastest physicists. I wonder his so called geniues has more to do with his close association with Sir Roger Penrose.

Pete on May 9, 2013 at 8:33 am

There is an entire literature about “scientific racism.” Some of the most well-regarded scientists in history were open anti-Semites and unabashed racists. Scientism was an ideology developed to legitimate anti-Jewish and anti-black policies in Western societies. That legacy is still very much with us.
