Your Day in Polish Philo-Semitism

Last year, I wrote a column about Polish complicity in the Holocaust. Thereafter, this site came under non-stop attack and hacking by anti-Semitic Poles (redundant phrase) intent on showing me how Jew-friendly they are by telling me such things as “Only Good Jew is Dead Jew [sic]” and sending me sexually explicit anti-Semitic pictures. We had to take various expensive security measures still in place and still costly, in order to keep this site up. But I keep getting hacked by them and receiving attacks, such as the ones mentioned in the October 2012 tweets below from the “Polish Bombers Group,” which also threatened my life in e-mails. And I keep receiving death threats, hate mail, and other non-stop harassment from Poles. Here’s the latest from my Facebook Fan Page (join me on Facebook) from Tuesday and today (thanks to reader Sean Rickards for coming to my defense):

I can understand disagreeing what anybody is saying, but the moment you begin to send threats to anyone’s life because you have a seperate viewpoint from their’s, that’s when you crossed the limit. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you make threats to people’s life, making threats to anyone is the equivalent of screaming “fire” in a crowded building, now also internet hacking a “felony” and NOT freedom of expression.

There are pictures showing Polacks assisting in the round up of Jews.

There has been so much testimony from Holocaust survivors telling how the Polacks pointed out to the Nazis the Jews in hiding.

The Jews who survived the concentration camps were frequently attacked and murdered, because Polacks like your mother and father were living in stolen Jewish houses.

Video interviews with older Polacks exist in which they plainly state they helped Nazis kill Jews.

And let us not forget the thousands of Jews killed by Polacks at the end of World War I. Let us not forget the stringent college and business quotas that existed in Polack land in the 1930’s which kept many a qualified Jew from getting a job or an education.

Let us not forget the Polack priests who used to preach against the Jews. Let us not forget about your political candidates who score points by accusing their opposition of being Jewish.

A polack is a polack is a polack. I would tell you to go to hell, but you are already in Poland.

I also know of a number of fools such as yourself. Jan Peckzis comes to mind as someone similar to you. The historian Norman Davies is another.

The Poles suffered horribly in WWII. But they did not treat their Jews well either before, during, or after the war in general, despite the number of “Righteous Gentiles” from Poland. There is a reason many more Polish Jews died than Jews from any other country—half of the dead in the Holocaust—and that is because the Poles were, next to the Germans, the most antisemitic people in Europe. 10 ethnic Poles have won the Nobel Prize. The most fammous Pole to win the Nobel was Madame Curie. But she had to do her research in FRANCE, away from Poland, to do her work.

1/4 of the world’s Nobels roughly, have been won by Jews, 8 in the last TWO YEARS. That’s right, subtract Madame Curie, who did her work in France, and Jews have equalled the Nobel output of Poland in over 110 years in 2 years.

Oh, and Mati, to help you with that type of inferiority, we also circumcize ourselves. But quality will out, pal. There’s a reason the Gentiles say that when something is good and aboveboard that it’s Kosher. And that when something is poorly designed and imbecilic it’s….

You are correct that there were some Polish people murdered by the Nazis after having been discovered to have hidden or otherwise assisted Jews during that period. There are more Polish people recognized at Yad Vashem for their righteous acts during the Holocaust than there are people of any other nation. So it is nonsense for you to say that Jews don’t know about and don’t respect what some – very few, but some – Polish people did for them during WWII. Jews also realize that most Polish people who didn’t put their own lives at risk to help save the Jews were not helping the Nazis, they were just trying to survive themselves. Our issue is not with them, it is with the Polish people – too many of them – that did assist the Nazis, and with the Polish people that continue to this day to hate Jews for being Jews. People like you, Mati. Since Poland had the largest Jewish population of any country in Europe prior to the conquest by the Nazis, it is probably correct to say that Polish people were more accepting of their Jewish neighbors than were the people in any other European country. However, they never really treated Jews as equals. Jews in Poland were severely restricted in Poland in every aspect of life. This is why most of the few survivors of Polish Jewry after the Holocaust didn’t bother going back, even fewer after the massacre of Holocaust survivors in Kielce in 1946 (see http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/article.php?ModuleId=10007941 for an article about this massacre).

If you really believe in what you said at the end of your post “Logic and reasonable people have to put the end to it,” then you should start with yourself. Ask yourself hard questions about your attitudes and prejudices, which prompted you to post what you did. Change yourself, then help to change those prejudices of others first. If you do that, then there are plenty of websites like Daily Kos, Huffington Post, Mondoweiss, etc. where you can post criticisms that have actual validity.

A cable show hosted by Jewish activists that aired in NYC in the 1990’s referred to the Polish as “Polack pigs.” They were likewise referring to Polish complicity in the Holocaust – and based on what’s been going on here since last year, one can see why that term applies.

As you have noted, many Poles were active Nazi collaborators. The Polish government in 1934 gleefully signed a non-aggression pact with an openly antisemitic and anti-Western Third Reich. That was something that it had declined to do with the previous Weimar Republic. In doing so, Poland nullified various agreements it had had with France, Britain, and the League of Nations. When Hitler was dismembering Czechoslovakia, Poland eagerly took Teschen from his hand like a dog lunging for a scrap of meat. Poland did not think that Czechoslovakia’s fate would soon be its own. Apparently, there has been no mental evolution in Poland since the 1930’s, at least among many..

My Dad was born 2 weeks after D-Day. My Mom was born in ’46. And BOTH of my parents came from a Jewish background (Italian on one side, Russian Jew on the other in my Mom’s case & Lithuanian & Romanian Jews in my Dad’s). I can remember, as far back as I can, of them telling me how the Poles (with some exceptions) helped to write the book on anti Semitism in Europe. This is not some new thing. Its not like Mrs. Schlussel woke up one day & said, “Hey, today I’ve got a SERIOUS hate-on for Poles!” If the members of the Polish Bombers are so pissed about people bringing up actual historical facts, then MAYBE they should try their best to dispel such long & widely held views. My problem with these idiots is that they can not except history and what actually happen. Much of Europe was very anti-Semitic long before Hitler showed his vile head. I am a full blooded German and had relatives fight for the Germans(not Nazis) during WWII. They did not involve themselves with the killing of the Jews(or least there is no evidence to it) but, they remark upon Poles and many others having no love and much hate for them. The Russian killing of the Jews of course was the greatest of any nation due to pogroms (and I am not excusing what Hitler did) mass killings of untold millions of their citizens. My question has always been why did Roosevelt ally himself with a person that killed more Jews and others than Hitler ever dreamed of???

It’s about time we should all put down the booze, take a deep breath and look at this situation.

To all “nationalistic” Poles, Debbie Schlussel did not call for your people to be passed. She was criticizing a nation’s conduct and ask a people to confront some ugly realities. Since the concept of a “chosen people” has been rendered irrelevant – let’s face it: everyone bleeds – it’s only proper to say “Okay, where do we start” rather than “Okay, f*** you”. It makes for a better dialogue. I’m quite sure that you still have jobs and can still get laid. So don’t get your dicks in a knot over some unpleasant point of view.

Second: I am quite sure that many Poles have risked their lives protecting Jews in the WWII, but I’m more curious about how much did the Jews pay to be protected in some cases. I’m no historian, but I’m sure that someone could shed some light into this.

Don’t get me started on the Catholic Church’s complicity in Sho’ah: remember, the Church was originally created as an extension and enhancer to Roman rule, and has nothing to do with Jewish rabbis.

Finally: had the Japanese not attacked Pearl Harbour, FDR wouldn’t have done anything. In fact, he would’ve gotten the USA to help the Axis if he weren’t that racist against the Japanese. Conversely, he could’ve jumped in when Barbarossa started, all in support for Uncle Joe. Why not? Hmm…

Jack, we are talking about complicity in murders of Poles in Poland. We are not discussing, for example, Americans of German descent in WWII who fought the Nazis bravely, like, say, the officer fellow who was first across the Bridge at Remagen. Or your relatives who fought for America here.

Your parents had brains enough to leave Poland. Good for them. Poland has wasted much of their time, effort, and potential in persecuting their Jews. America is the finest country in the world for many reasons, while Poland doesn’t even come close. Jews have contributed greatly to America’s success, including winning 9 times their population percentage in Nobel Prizes. Poles have also contributed to American success, but at a much lower proportion relative to their population. Sorry, pal, that’s just the way it is.

For example: best armoured division commander of WWII: Maurice Rose. (Jewish) Founder of the Nuclear Navy: another Jewish guy (Rickover). Coordinating Genius behind America’s nuclear forces development: Oppenheimer (another Jew). Naval Commander who abolished flogging in the US Navy: another Jewish guy. (Levy) Best SecState ever: Kissinger. Best Supreme Court associate Justice: Benjamin Cardoza (Jewish). Guy who eliminated polio as an American Health Concern: another Jewish guy: Salk or Sabin, take your pick.

I’m doing this off the top of my head, Jack. Every year, Jews win Nobels, Grammys, Oscars, Pulitzers. It’s routine. In anything that requires skill or genius, they are to be found in great numbers. This does not happen to Poles as often. Sorry, it just is. Even Elvis is Jewish.

Poor Baby! I guess that is somehow equal to the Holocaust. Since you are around Jackie, I guess your ancestors were not exterminated. Also, if you were not aware of it already, the Irish and Jews faced similar treatment when they showed up in significant numbers in the United States. It is doubtful that any sane member of those ethnic groups would even attempt to employ such a stale and trivial grievance as even remotely comparable to what happened to the Jews in Poland or elsewhere in Europe.

I’m merely saying that the insults in the form of “jokes” I see here are repeats of what you ignorami spouted against Americans of Polish ancestry before it became politically-incorrect to do so. Without the cloak of anonymity, you wouldn’t be doing it here now because you’d be embarrassed to derogate an entire ethnic demographic group. It really pains me, that very often, when Polish-Jewish relations and history are a topic, only the most extreme, stupid and hateful voices are heard from both sides. This discussion is a proof. Polish Antisemitsm is a fact as is Jewish Antipolonism. They both strenghten each other and strenghten a viscious circle of hate, bigotry and aggresion.

I don’t want to give counterarguments to many things (historical unfacts and common knowledge non sequiturs from both sides). I tried that once with this forum and it was called a tedious, verbose copy/paste piece.

I’m ashamed of the Poles, that spew antisemitic and/or hateful rants. There are morons in every nation and Debbie Schlussel managed to make them angry (they mostly know about her from a leftist bend newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza). There would be a similar reaction, if Debbie wrote a piece, that trolls from 4chan forum wouldn’t like.

The Debbie’s piece, that has started it all was really biased and in bad style. Now after the attacks have started, the guests here are treated to steady bimonthly cycle of hateful articles on antisemitic reactions by Poles. Would they forget, who they should hate, if the pause was longer or is just Debbie Schlussel’s patience 2 months long and that’s her unvent cycle?

There were only a few cool heads here and I wish, here were more.

Skzion, Debbie’s piece was based on some kid’s Masters thesis on Polish involvement in the Holocaust. It was 93 pages long, poorly written and far too short to cover the subject matter at hand. There were anti-semites in Poland, as there are throughout the world. The tone and direction of her piece condemned all Poles. The Pole reaction is unsurprising to me.

People should take the advice that the great conservative Archie Bunker gave to Lionel his black neighbor,

“You shouldn’t condemn an entire people because of the actions of a few.”

From what I have read, the Nazi tactics were quite effective at turning people against one another in an act of self-preservation. It did not matter if you were Jew or Gentile. People did horific things that they would not have otherwise done. Yes, there were probably some anti-semites that did not need much convincing to mistreat Jews. If it happened here in the U.S. today, you would find more of the same.

There are people that are taught to fear and hate Jews and there are people taught to fear and hate Poles. I’m just glad nobody gave me a big dose of hate indoctrination in MY formative years.

We should all be careful what we teach our children.

Anybody can send obscene and illiterate emails and say they are Polish. They may be, they may not be. Who can tell in Cyberspace? At any rate, both column and comments are doing a good job exacerbating things – which I suppose is the point.

If we would all listen to our Creator, the God of Abraham, we would keep “the law of loving-kindness on our tongue”.

My dear aged father was Polish – a paratrooper, who fought during WW2 – on the Allied Side, if I can still say that without incurring a visit from The Thought Police.

Do I like this continual vilification of my father by the most powerful media and academe in the world? Of course I don’t. I loved him very much. And still love him.

But I am trying to be “no part” of the world, so it does give me extra incentive to stand clear of it, and try not to be shaped by its unloving attitudes.

Hello Moishe, “Anti-semitic”? Why? But I would like to explain my comment about the vilification, and thanks for asking. It may take a comment or two, there is such a lot of it.

Have you read Peter Godwin’s wonderful “When a Crocodile Eats the Sun”? If not, please do. You are in for a treat.

Peter’s father – Polish-Jewish – and mine – Polish-Catholic – both managed to make it to the UK and rejoin the fight against Hitler. And Polish forces made a real contribution to the Allied victory.

Their reward?

A brutal betrayal the moment the war ended, and vilification ever since.

Anyway, let Peter Godwin tell it. He says:

“In the summer of 1946, the huge victory parade takes place down the Mall in London. Two million onlookers cheer wildly as King George V1 takes the salute from Allied soldiers of dozens of nations. In the skies overhead there is a massive fly-past. but though they are the fourth biggest Allied army, no Polish forces march that day. The new Warsaw regime, at Stalin’s insistence, ignores its British invitation and stays away. And the Free Poles have not been invited. Anyway,they have nothing to celebrate. The day before the war ended mine and Peter’s fathers were “our Gallant Allies, the Poles”, the day after, they were “fascist brutes”.

Did they change? Or did the politics?

And the vilification has continued. I am trying to bear in mind the perfect definition of love, inspired by our Creator, that tells us that love “does not keep account of the injury”, but “the world” (of course) makes it difficult. So, to take a positive from this, it is a good lesson in the wisdom of staying out of these awful wars and staying neutral.

This is a quote from John Radzilowski’s scholarly little publication “Poles in Minnesota”. He shows how Poles arrived in America, had a hard time, as did nearly all new arrivals, went in for a lot of hard work and self-help, assimilated and became Americans. Then, something strange, and in my opinion, something that suggests a political agenda, happened.

“”The 1970s represented a kind of watershed for Poles in Minnesota…
Nationally, the entertainment industry and media singled out Polish
Americans for stigmatization, and stores across Minnesota carried
bigoted “Polish joke” products that were widely used. Because they
had little mainstream media presence, many Polish Americans,
especially young people, internalized these stereotypes. If students
did not keep quiet, they faced harassment and abuse from classmates
and sometimes even teachers. With the Polish White Eagle Association,
this stigmatization led to occasional pressures to remove the
word “Polish” from the group’s name as early as the 1960’s.”

So here is a clear signal – these people are “unter”. Not very nice, especially as the American media surely is the most powerful and influential media in the world?

This is also something I could get very angry about. However, the enormous silver lining is how it makes the impartial loving standards of our Creator, the God of Abraham, shine out like a beacon in a dark world.

Our Creator tells me that that I should “honour” my father. The world is telling me that he is very “unter” indeed.

I loved my father very much. So who am I drawn to?

Its not, as Basil Fawlty would say, a proposition for Wittgenstein.

Hello again Moishe, There is so much vilfication about I hardly know how to continue – or indeed if you want me to. But I will just post this and see if you want to talk about it.

There is the book “Maus”, which pictures all Poles as “pigs/swine”. Now, I have heard all the arguments advanced as to why that is OK, but I want to ask this. Which other minority groups could be portrayed as “swine”, and the book be publishable, let alone lauded and applauded?

Very very few, I suggest.

This is a letter I wrote to an American University:

Langleib. Alarmingly, he identifies himself as a Project Manager
for the New Yorks City Parks Department, as well as (I must assume)
one of your alumni.

He says (in part):

“While the community has several problems, most of them come
back to the high density of Polish people infesting its rowhouses.
Mocking Poles for being stupid is perhaps the last form of
politically
correct prejudice, as well as the most accurate. The other day I
asked a
local Polak shopkeeper if heard the one about the Polish guy who
tried to fill up his gas tank by driving the car in reverse. The

That is extraordinary language. The Polish community is said
to “infest” the neighbourhood in which it lives.

What do you do with an infestation? Don’t you bring in the
exterminators?

Isn’t that something that could have come right out of a speech by
Goebbels?

How could such Nazi language be allowed in a University publication?

I didn’t get a reply of course. But the article was later removed.

However the point is that it was printed in the first place. I am trying to imagine what other ethnic group could safely be described – in a Uni publication – as “infesting” the neighbourhood in which it lives?

As the young lad says, it is a “politically correct” prejudice.

So much for “the wisdom of the world”.

Anyway, I hope I have explained. And I hope you will explain why you think it is “anti-semitic” of me to complain about some aspects of the American media. It is very powerful and influential – worldwide. Therefore, what it publishes has consequences.

Poles just can not handle the truth.60pct of Poles are antisemitic,I lived in Poland.Most disliked Jews and do not want Jews to be in position to dictate to them.They do not want to admit that they colaborated with the Germans,killed Jews in Jedwabne and Kielce and other places after the war.Pre war Polish Goverment was antisemitic and partially responsible for Kristallnaht by closing the border with Germany.Most remaing Jews left Poland after the war for a reason.Debbie exaggerated the Polish antisemitism
and hate but this should have been used as a opportunity to have a dialog to resolve some of the misinformation and not and not vile hate from the Poles.Bart from Poland is the person that we can have a dialog with.

Thank you for answering my question, Moishe. I’m afraid I haven’t read through all the comments above as many are so abusive and obscene – on both sides. So I didn’t know that someone had implied the American media is run by Jews, or I could have made it clear in my initial comment that I wasn’t making that claim.

There are many Poles/Polonians “stepping up to the piste”- against strong odds too. And I am grateful to them. However, the lesson I wish my fellow Polonians (and everyone) would learn from this is to be “no part” of the world – to stand well clear of the current system of things. Don’t the Hebrew Scriptures warn that it is all going to go? Think of the powerful warning at Daniel 2:44, for example.

I’m sure no-one is feeling sorry by the way. I wasn’t asking them to, and certainly not expecting it. I was simply trying to answer the question that you asked.
