Remember the Good Old Days . . . When Astronauts Did Parades, Not Gun Grabbing Using Their Semi-Veggie Wives? VIDEO

By Debbie Schlussel

**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****

Remember the good old days . . . when astronauts waved in parades instead of trying to take away your guns? Those days, sadly, are over. In are the days when astronauts parade their helpless, semi-vegetable wives to push for stricter gun control.

Gun Grabbing Grandstander Astronaut Mark Kelly is no Neil Armstrong

You’ve no doubt been subject to the media campaign over the last couple of days by former astronaut Mark Kelly and his wife, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. They’ve started yet another unnecessary gun control organization, Americans for Reponsible Solutions. Thing is, we already have a gazillion “responsible” gun control laws in place, and they don’t work because there will always be crazy people and violent criminals who will game the system, get guns, and kill people. And Kelly and Giffords know that, which is why what they really want is hardcore gun control–taking away your guns.

They, themselves, own guns, but guns are for elites like them, not you and me, in their view. Err . . . Kelly’s view. And that’s because, if you watch this video interview from yesterday, below, Giffords can barely talk or think. She’s not mentally all there and can’t fully function. She should be in rehab, not schlepping on Mark Kelly’s Weirder Than Outer Space Gun Control World Tour. She’s pathetic and painful to watch, and he’s truly cruel to push her into this to further a statist agenda, rather than being a good husband and doing the right thing by staying home and attending to improving her health. Note how Diane Sawyer plays fictional translator for Giffords’ “barely speak.” Check out the video . . .

If this isn’t exploitation, I don’t know what is. Kelly has mentioned political ambitions in the past. How sad that he is building them on the back of his wife’s tragic handicaps and the diminishing of your Second Amendment rights.

Mark Kelly knows that in the scheme of astronauts, he’s not a big deal. He never walked on the Moon or did anything of consequence or note in space. He’ll never be Neil Armstrong or Buzz Aldrin. Not even close. He’s a second tier astronaut commuter of little consequence who once rode on a space shuttle to nowhere. And he can’t handle that realization. So he must do something “meaningful” to get notice and acclaim in this world. And he’ll do it using his semi-vegetable wife to take away your guns.

Selfish. Narcissistic. Absurd.

*** UPDATE: One other thing: Since Gabby Giffords doesn’t seem to be of complete mental capacity based on this video–in fact, she seems rather childlike, maybe we should first send her to several psychiatrists to see if she is mentally and physically fit to own a gun. I mean, that’s the fascist, statist direction in which where we’re headed for everyone else, isn’t it? And what’s good for the goose is good for the cubic zirconium astronaut’s semi-vegetable prop, right?

Semi-vegetable is not very nice. She seems to be able to talk and communicate

But it’s crazy that they have guns but don’t want others to have guns. Today they want my rifles. A couple decades ago they didn’t want rifles, they only wanted to get your pistols. Now, they want to keep pistols and take rifles. Does anyone really think they would stop there?

Now you’re just being mean spirited 😉

This is a perfect combination. He climbs on his brain dead wife’s back and rides it all the way to Congress.

It worked for Doris Matsui in California. The Dems ran Robert Matsui knowing he had 3 months to live. He “won” re election, then wifey stepped into his office.

It is politics all around. Gifford is paying back what he owes for the special treatment they received on book tour while collecting wages while staying home unable to work. The rest of us have to survive on disability and lose everything.

These guys are riding high!! And, the brain dead voters compliments of public or govt schools are the saps making it happen. Congrats to the Teachers Union for turning out stupid people while gain benefit after benefit and living off the fat of the land.

Gabrielle Giffords, the House member from Arizona supported the 2nd Amendment throughout her tenure in Congress.

Note this quote from Giffords on June 26, 2008. In a message on her congressional Web site, Giffords wrote: As a gun owner, I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.

In February, I was proud to sign the Amicus Brief in District of Columbia v. Heller asking the Supreme Court to uphold the lower court ruling that overturned the long standing DC gun ban.

Gabby Giffords is being used. I have to believe that it’s her ambitious, self-promoting husband pushing her. It would be best for all of us if she would just live a private life instead of milking her shooting for all it’s worth. Pathetic.

lexi on January 9, 2013 at 10:34 am

She knew this guy was a nut and still invited him to have a meeting with no regard for other people. She got exactly what she deserved the others did not. It might be nice to have the whole truth of this matter that he had communicated with her several times and each time was crazier than the first. Feel sorrow for the little girl and the judge amoung others she does not deserve any.

Spot on Debbie! This is grandstanding at its lowest. All these elitist cream puffs don’t get the bottom line that PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE! It doesn’t get any simpler than that. I’ve never read nor heard of anyone getting killed by an ill-spoken word or a nasty glare.

I’ve owned guns since I was young; used them for hunting, sport, etc and went on to a long career in law enforcement. Oh yeah, trained, carried, and taught the use of many types of firearms including the infamous “Assault Rifle”. I intend on keeping mine; I’ll stand a better chance of retaining those than my income after O-Bummer’s tax hike!

On another note, did you get your funds out of the TSP upon your retirement? Seems this administration is going to raid the “G” fund to help pay down the deficit. Absolutely no shame in this administration. Here is a link:

Totally agree DS. I feel sorry for GG. With friends like Dippity-Do Debbie Blabbermouth-Schultz and her nasty husband, the poor woman is being shamelessly exploited. It’s heartless and cruel.

I have off the charts ‘spidey’ sense on that crap husband of hers. He’s disgusting and the media will cover up all the chicks he has on the side because his poor wife is suffering from an unfortunate tragedy orchestrated by an insane freak.

That husband is no good and wouldn’t know good character if it came to him in a green space-suit with alien antenna. I’ll be watching that d. bag. I don’t trust him…

Well, I guess someone has to replace Sarah Brady. Just as we were plagued by her shrill diatribes for many years, we will now be plagued by the Giffords’ ranting and raving. In addition to Kelly’s political ambitions, I’m afraid that there may be financial motivations as well. Although the two of them both get generous pensions, I guess financial sacrifice and frugality, like gun control are for others, and not for them.

Giffords is certainly being used, although considering her politics before the shooting, she would probably have approved of all of this.

Little Al on January 9, 2013 at 11:11 am

Debbie, I agree with you on two points. Yes, Ms. Giffords was exploited: “The act of employing to the greatest possible advantage”. I also agree that no law will prevent all gun violence. I did not see where you read into the interview that they want to take away everyone’s guns. If the pair were wearing “no guns” symbols on t-shirts, like the picture above in your post; I might read past what they are saying and draw the same conclusion.

If some NRA member from the tea party put crosshairs over someone’s picture, what would you read into that?

Visteo on January 9, 2013 at 11:14 am

Debbie – I believe you are blaming the wrong people here.

Just like I don’t blame Cindy Sheehan for what she does – I blame those who follow her and give her publicity.

Something terrible happened to Giffords, and I don’t find it surprising that overcome by emotion they may stop rational thinking and try to come up with the “easiest” way to prevent it from happening again. The evidence is overwhelming that they are wrong but given what happened I don’t blame them for irrational thinking.

However I do blame anyone who follows them and gives them publicity since they do not have the excuse of being overcome by emotion for their irrational thinking.

Skzion, if you notice (and I know you do) the usual Libtard suspects post just a few lines…and never any substance because they know HERE there are many Conservative Warriors who can aptly break their argument. (Like Visteo, SteveBaaaaa & dee (in small letter D because the compulsion to confess can’t seem to shake a simple Libtard mind. She uses the small d before her detractors can use it for her.) Plus they don’t know enough to completely defend their emotional position anyway.

They can’t win on debate so they use misplaced emotion, bait & switch and angry, Liberal name calling. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE name calling myself but it’s useless if I can’t break the argument. Then they go together like PB&J! Yum!

They got their anger and emotions on but they just can’t compete in the marketplace of ideas.

In 2013, I’m all about using strong facts to break those arguments…even if the Libtards are non-permeable and refuse to admit defeat. For every two blind Libtard eyes there are 6 Conservatives agreeing and passing on the winning argument. I want to learn even more than I teach, so strong Conservatives join the fight! No time to appease in 2013. Dumb Donks are winning and that ain’t right!

Gabby is famous and a powerful voice simply for taking one to the head.

There’s a verse about that in the Christian New Testament. Revelation 13:3 – One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was astonished and followed the beast.

Beast; Greek – therion – metaph. brutal, bestial, savage, ferocious.

Paul uses a similar word only twice in the NT – in English it’s written as chalepos. This is a translation of the Greek term chalepos [calepoV], meaning “violent.” It is coupled with a modifier, “exceeding fierce.” This term suggests more than violence, reaching even to the level of uncontrolled, raging and brutal insanity.Look for this in the ‘gun control debate’.

And here, we come face-to-face with the world, driven by an inner darkness, out of control and furiously rejecting the message of Almighty G-D.

Gabby has sided with the Beast that is the animating spirit of the world today. The beast has many heads. Represented most vividly by whatever it is that the Democrats have become.

She took one to the head and though as dead revived and I predict her voice will be used by the animating spirit known as the Beast as a pied piper of sorts and the people will follow her.

Eighty-five percent my a$$. Are we sure it isn’t the husband who has the brain damage?

I think as a gesture of good will, Obama should IMMEDIATELY disarm the Secret Service. Honesty, after all, begins at home. Why should he get any more security than he’s willing to let a child in a school receive? BTW, I read somewhere that there are something like 11 armed guards at the school the Obama daughters attend. Maybe THEY should disarm, too. I’d like to start a national campaign to have each school hang a huge banner on its exterior that says “No guns here!”

Sorry to all my fans on this site that I’ve been so scarce of late. There’s this contest I enter every day. It’s very time-consuming to enter the first time, but after that it remembers you. When I delete Schlussel’s banhammer cookie, it deletes that as well. Wish me luck! You’ll be hearing from me again soon!

Dee Dee, let’s get to the heart of it. Mark Kelly dragged his wife around for a book tour a matter of months after she had been shot. Why would any loving husband do that? Is that okay with you Dee Dee?

Now, that wonderful ex-astronaut, has found a new way to exploit his barely cognizant wife. Mark Kelly is not spending his own dough for this new anti-gun organization, nor for all the travel with Gabby Giffords. You might try reading past the first line of articles that are written. It could be a revelation to you.

I feel for the people of Newton, CT.

But, can someone tell me why Planned Parenthood can carry out more than 300,000 abortions per year with little or no protest while at the same time the death of 26 children by a lunatic results in demands that tens of millions of law abiding citizens be stripped of their right to self-defense?

Is the life of a child in the womb less precious than that of one in the classroom?

If Captain Kelly really wants to save the lives of innocent people he can ask the President and Mayor Bloomberg to shut down the abortion mills.

Maybe this issue isn’t really about saving lives.

Pete on January 9, 2013 at 2:51 pm

Correct as usual on what you’re exactly saying in this piece DS, and I to think that Ms. Giffords is being used for a anti-2nd Amendment propaganda agenda in order to violate and trample on our 2nd amendment rights, and if these two clowns were any smarter, they would’ve figured out that the 2nd amendment is protected by the 1st amendment!

And also if both Mr. Kelly and Ms. Giffords studied any history of gun-control in countries over the last century, they would’ve known that governments did all sorts of genocide mass-murdering on their citizens while they were dis-armed and unable to protect themselves. Plus, these two phonies are bigtime hypocrites, they have security guards who protects their asses 24/7, 365 with yes, a “gun”, if they really stand for gun-control, how about they tell their security guards to give up their firearms? It’s time for these left wing nutjobs to put their money where their freaking mouths are!

“A nation is defined by its borders, language & culture!”

Sean R. on January 9, 2013 at 3:17 pm

I have no problem with Mr. Kelly he was a shuttle pilot and worked hard. I disagree with him parading his wife out there, but I will not demean his accomplishments.

His twin brother will be more famous since he will be spending 1 full year in space in 2015.Those are the pioneers needed to test the human body long term in space.

RT on January 9, 2013 at 4:05 pm

I feel for the people of Newton.

But why is it that Planned Parenthood can perform 300,000 abortions per year without raising too much criticism whereas the actions of one lunatic who killed 26 children results in demands that tens of millions of law abiding citizens be stripped of their right to defend themselves?

The answer is that this issue is not about saving lives. If that were the case then Captain Kelly would ask his new best friends President Obama and Mayor Bloomberg to do something about those abortion mills.

The issue is about the Left’s lust for power. They are uncomfortable with people taking responsibility for their own protection (or anything else for that matter). The more you do for yourself the less you need the almighty State or liberals.

As for Captain Kelly, maybe he is sincere or maybe he just likes the limelight. Where do you go after you’ve been in outer space?

Pete on January 9, 2013 at 5:27 pm

I hope they start 300 more anti-gun organizations.
The more groups they have the more the anti-gun money gets spread thin and thus they have less impact and clout.
It is pretty pathetic that someone would be so narcissistic as to start another anti-gun group.
With as many groups as there are out there surely even the stupidest of people would realize that joining ranks with one of the existing groups would be more effective than starting a new group.

But when has gun-control ever been about doing what’s smart or what’s best.
It’s all about self-promotion, and yes, making that almighty dollar.
This group will be just like all the others, a vehicle to promote speakers, sell books and get people to cry and open their pocketbooks.
All the while the people at the top rank in the big bucks.
Basically using the blood of innocents as fertilizer to grow their bank accounts.

Mark’s first exploited Gabby Giffords, his wife, when that ghost written book was flogged tastelessly some months after the shooting. Mr. Kelly in joining the anti-gun crowd is quite clearly trying to wring some some more cash out of his barely cognizant wife. It is a grotesque spectacle.

This form of activism of activism is quite wretched in that it slanders legal and law abiding gun owners. Jared Loughner is a stand in for “Gun Nuts” who might go homicidal at the drop of a pin. Gabby Gifford’s body is being thrown in the face of legitimate gun owners as a form of accusation. Anytime the government tells you what you can or cannot do (with the hope of somehow improving society), it is liberal.

So tell, Lee. Nowadays, the First Amendment has been interpreted so stringently that Christian-themed artifacts cannot be on government or public spaces at all. All ambiguities are settled in favor of atheism in public. The same goes for “free speech,” which is defended with absolutist zeal.

But for the Second Amendment, these same people–people like you–suddenly decide that there is much flexibility. You’re suddenly not absolutist at all about THIS amendment. Rights can be effectively abrogated by all sorts of red tape, taxes, and outright bans.

Why the inconsistency? Isn’t your whole constitutionalism one big lie?

It’s disgusting to see the spectacle she’s become at the hands of that idiot. It’s been written that she was repeatedly threatened by her shooter and took no precautions. If that’s the case, the families that were also victimized by the madman should have her and her husband busy in court suing for damages caused by her lack of action. She wasn’t the only victim, though she’s being paraded around like a prized poodle.

What is wrong with you? Your cruel name-calling of a disabled woman makes you sound like some middle-school kid with a personality disorder. Gross. I’m sick and tired of everyone being so callous and cruel these days, online and off. People are losing their ability to empathize and our society is suffering for it. Why don’t you try to put yourself in Giffords’ shoes and think about how you would feel if you were in her position and on top of every other horror, you had to deal with being called dehumanizing names? Can you imagine what she must have to go through each day? When I see someone who is suffering, my impulse is to want to alleviate some of the person’s pain, not to make snarky comments. Why is this instinct so unusual these days? It’s infuriating. As long as people continue to push compassion aside in favor of mindless meanness and careless cruelty, our culture will continue to rot, guns or no guns.

@mb–

Yes, by all means. Those on the Right must remain civil at all costs, as we watch our country go down the toilet. Here’s the problem: Civility doesn’t work anymore. Heck, that’s why the Left stopped acting that way decades ago! Ever hear of Saul Alinsky?

How “civil” is it to…

Be a baby killer
Have sex with a young woman in the oval office
Sacrifice a US ambassador
etc etc

RR, I think we all remember the leftist fantasies regarding an assassination of Bush.

Gabby was a scum. Now she’s a semivegetable scum with an obviously greedy husband. She and hubby are trying to work evil using Gabby’s new disability as a shield.
