What’s really funny is the same media tore into NRA Vice President Wayne LaPierre’s call for armed bodyguards at our schools at his Friday presser – which has been effective in Israel for decades to save school children’s lives. It can be implemented immediately without having to wait for new ineffective gun control laws that don’t work.

Only in America are celebrities, congress critters, presidents’ and banks more important than our children. Cuz you know, they shouldn’t receive the same level of protection that ovrerwrought celebrities routinely get. In an earlier time, this wouldn’t be necessary! But just as Israel had to change after a terrorist massacre at Ma’alot, so will America have to change after the massacre at Sandy Hook.

And we can do it without gutting the Second Amendment and taking guns from hunters, sports shooters and people who carry for self-defense. But don’t look for Hollywood and the media to tell Americans we must do a better job of not only protecting our kids, its also high time we crack down on violent games and movies and to make sure mentally ill people are locked up. I guess that’s just too common sense for people looking for a quick fix to a problem for which no quick fix is available.

A year ago there was an incident over a rifle a neighbor in Detroit offered to sell me. This neighbor should not be allowed to possess a firearm. It would benefit us all for him not to handle any weapon. Bottom line was he did not have anything on his record to prevent him from possessing a firearm. The police said I could buy the rifle from him. What prevented this firearm from ending up in the hands of someone worse? This group does not want to “take away your guns and your Second Amendment rights”. They do want to restrict sales. Sorry, but this does not address the problem in the streets of Detroit or most cities in this country. Yes, I have weapons and a real and immediate need for them. And, yes, until we get guns out of the wrong peoples hands you would be better off armed.

Criminals can always get guns on the black market or they can steal them. No gun control law will keep them from being armed.

It should be pointed out Adam Lanza, the Sandy Hook shooter, had no prior criminal record and he bought his guns over the counter. No gun control law would have prevented him from getting the guns. Ditto for would be Islamic terrorists.

All gun control laws really do is prevent the rest of us from being able to buy/own a gun when we really need one. Debbie can tell you in the moments after someone confronts you or after they break into your home, the first few minutes are a matter of live and death and your odds of survival increase if you don’t wait for the police to show up! 911 only provides the illusion of security.

Gun control is a liberal panecea to the social problem of evil. You take guns out of the hands of good people, you still don’t make sure bad people won’t have them. News flash to anyone not aware of the current situation in our high schools. John Glenn High school in Westland(wasteland) has had at least one uniformed police officer on duty for years. Since Bush decided school of choice would solve our inner city criminal problem, they’ve bussed in the trouble makers. Yeah, that school used to be a highly rated school. Now they arrest at least a few people a week.
