Charlie Daniels Said What About HAMAS v. Israel? Response Needed
I normally don’t put much credence into what celebrities say about political issues, other than to call them out. But Charlie Daniels’ excellent piece about Israel and what it faces from HAMAS and its other “neighbors” is so good, I want it to be seen by everyone I can reach. And I need you to respond by posting a comment on his site to thank him, since there is no contact info for him on the site (that I can find). I can just hear his down-home, Southern-accented voice–the same voice in “Devil Went Down to Georgia”–saying these words. It is rare that a celeb actually gets it. Here are some excerpts of what he posted from his home in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, America’s heartland:
This tiny nation beset from within by extremely different political persuasions and from without by rocket attacks, suicide bombers and armies of Islamic zealots is criticized and ostracized by the nations of the world and the target of millenniums-old vendettas and a dishonest, hostile world media stands proudly fertile, progressive and strong, as an example of what could be accomplished by their neighbors if they could only put their hate and swords away and concentrate on the welfare of their state and it’s people. . . .
If you watch the networks in the U.S. or the BBC or CNN International around the world they will try to convince you that Israel is the instigator, on the offensive, firing missiles into populated areas and schools in the Gaza Strip. They’ll show you pictures of a bloody child and bombed out houses in an effort to convince you that Israel is the aggressor, even if some of the photos being passed off as Palestinian casualties are from recent Syrian internal violence.
They basically ignore the bloody children and bomb damaged buildings on the Israeli side of the border and omit the fact that rockets had been raining down on Israel for months before they began a major retaliation.
To put the situation into perspective, imagine that somebody in the adjacent county was lobbing rockets into your backyard and your children’s schoolyard. Just how many of these attacks would you tolerate before you started shooting back to protect your family?
In a nutshell that’s what’s happening in Israel, and what has been happening and nobody in the world has the right to prevent them from protecting themselves. . . . The Jews supply water, electricity, food and medicine in the Gaza Strip and just want to live in peace with their neighbors.
READ the rest–if you don’t read it right away, it is viewable in his archive, here–and THANK Charlie Daniels. (One disagreement: even if they put down their arms and renounced terrorism forever–which’ll never happen–the Muslim nations will never be like Israel in terms of inventions, achievements, GDP, etc. They know that, too, and can’t handle the truth. Their jealousy is part of their rage.)
I’ve always loved Charlie Daniels’ fiddling since I was a kid, when my dad shared his love of bluegrass and Scotch-Irish Southern fiddling with me and took me to those kinds of concerts (in addition to jazz and classical music concerts). But this is a giant cherry on top. Charlie, as we Jews say in Hebrew, “Yasher Koach” [“May Your Strength Be Firm” or “May Your Strength Increase”] which is a form of congratulation, usually followed by a handshake. Thank you, Charlie Daniels, a real mensch. And thanks to reader Steve H. for the tip.
