Dar Al-Harb(vard): Harvard University Apologizes to Arabs for Israeli Buffet

By Debbie Schlussel

How bleeping intolerant are Muslims? So intolerant that they go postal when Middle Eastern food (some of it, like hummus, invented by Jews in ancient Israel) is called an “Israeli buffet” by Harvard University chefs. How wimpy and spineless is Harvard? So wimpy and spineless that when even just one Arab whines about the Israeli buffet, the university apologizes. Sad. But no surprise.

Al-Grievance Theater: Israel-Hater Sara El-Yafi Offended by Israeli Buffet

Sara El-Yafi, the Sunni Muslim Arab granddaughter of former Lebanese Prime Minister Abdallah El-Yafi and a Harvard grad, let her intolerance and hatred for Israel and the Jews spur a tantrum over the food served at Harvard’s Business School. Don’t let El-Yafi’s sexy clothes (one of her pics is of herself in a mini-skirt and cropped “belly” shirt) fool ya, she’s as fundamentalist and hateful as the most devoutly garbed Muslims. As I’ve pointed out before, some of the most scantily clothed Muslim women are possessed by some of the most vile anti-Semitism. These are Israel’s neighbors to the north, and this is why there will never be peace: because these Arabs and Muslims are consumed with utter hatred even over menu. They hate the Jews that much.

Harvard Business School is “deeply troubled” for having offended Arab sensibilities due to the mischaracterization of various foods appearing on the menu of the dining room’s Israeli Mezze Station, Brian Kenny, chief marketing and communications officer of the school, was quoted by Al-Arabiya as saying Friday.

The controversy over the Israeli food station arose after Lebanese Harvard graduate Sara el-Yafi on October 28 posted to her Facebook page a letter of protest to the university describing the Israeli buffet’s menu as an affront to Arabs, as such foods as humous and couscous are not of Israeli origin.

This passage from the Jerusalem Post is even BS. In fact, as I’ve noted, hummus began in ancient Israel. And these foods were eaten by the near-million Jews from Arab nations who were expelled from their homes of thousands of years.

The only thing correct here is that Halloumi cheese is, indeed, a Muslim product, as I’ve noted previously on this site, which is why you should NEVER buy it. If you do, you are funding Jew-haters in Cypress who shielded Yasser Arafat and other Islamic terrorists for years. (Plus, for my Jewish friends and readers, it’s not kosher.) More:

“That ‘Israeli Mezze Station” is the ultimate multicultural, multireligious ‘f*** you’ in the face of ALL Arabs at once from North Africa to the Levant,” el- Yafi wrote.

“Israel already has a hard time keeping face in the Arab world for the way it has ‘appropriated’ its lands since 1948, don’t make it worse for them by having them appropriate other peoples’ foods as well,” she added.

El-Yafi also pointed out that haloumi cheese is in fact “Cypriot,” and therefore “until Cyprus becomes another conquered Israeli territory, haloumi is considered NOT Israeli.”

She concluded that at the very least the buffet should be renamed “Mediterranean Mezze Station.”

In response to el-Yafi’s Facebook protest, which as of Friday had garnered more than 4,500 “likes,” Kenny reportedly said that “we are deeply troubled that we offended anybody by doing this buffet item, particularly considering that our reason for doing the international buffet each day is to celebrate cultural diversity.”

“We’ve been following the comments and the [Facebook] posts,” Kenny continued, which have “prompted us to have some extensive conversations here internally… to understand how this happened and to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.”

Buncha dhimmi wimps. But it’s not news that Al-Harvard has long been Muslim-occupied territory, or as I call it, “Dar Al-Harvard.”

By the way, if you look at Al-Ms. Thang Sara El-Yafi’s Facebook photos, you’ll love her rant about the Vice Presidential debate between Paul Ryan and Joe Biden. It killed her that they argued over who was a bigger friend of “Bibi,” the nickname of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. It must also kill her, knowing that Sabra–Israeli brand hummus–is the number one seller in the world, including her Arab Muslim world.

Ma’a Salama, Kalbeh.

I love the “Dar Al-Harb(vard)” nickname. I am gonna use it from now on. Especially since I am so close to that pretentious sh** hole University.

I also knew about Hummus from this website. I tweeted this article on Friday and it annoyed me VERY much. The whole article gave me fits and I knew this “kalbeh” was a Jew hater with no clue on the origin of hummus (for starters).

Gotta love Dar Al-Harb(vard)! Where ROTC is verboten but every pig Jew Hater is appeased.

Dar Al_Harb(vard) Square is a sh** hole full of nutters, hobos, smelly Liberals, hipster doofuses and clueless, nerdy students. When I am down there I feel like I am in more of a dumpster than a hallowed ground of the most elite of Ivy League Schools (On a hot, summer night it smells of rancid ketchup). The only part that is charming is the small, curvy, European-esque meeting of “Bow” & “Arrow” streets. THAT’S. IT.

Cypriot eh? you mean GREEK land occupied by MUSLIMS?? cheesy indeed- the whine never ends- their intolerance of anything JEWISH/Israeli always on display and not only no shame comes to them but apologies by the dhimmifed Harvard- well what doesn’t make Muslims mad? Israel is HERE- Jews are in USA- get over it or GTFO

Exactly. Like everything else they have appropriated and re-labelled as their own.

Harvard has been an anti-Semitic institution for many, many years.

In the 1920’s, the President of Harvard, Abbott Lawrence Lowell established a limit on how many Jews could attend Harvard. While the governing bodies of Harvard allegedly over-ruled him, administrative admissions practices as well as the wink and a nod kept Jews well below the number that should have been admitted. Hence, many smart Jews went to the old CCNY (City College of New York) which is why for many years, CCNY had the greatest number of nobel prize winners amongst their alumni.

One limitation Harvard used was to claim they wanted geographical diversity, whereupon they took more people from areas where there was a small Jewish population.

Moving forward, this limitation on Jews did not end until the 1970’s, but at the time this limitation ended, Harvard began establishing affirmative action/racial quotas to increase the number of blacks and now Latinos at Harvard. Thus, less qualified minorities took the seats that should have gone to over-acheiving Jewish students. Now, in fact, 40% of the school’s seats go to blacks and Hispanics, while another 40% of the seats are legacy seats. Large numbers of qualified Jews and Asians are rejected in favor of others who are much less qualified, in the name of diversity and stupidity.

Fast forward, and in combination with the Eastern establishment anti-Semitism traditional in circles at Harvard, the school begins taking in hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions, from Islamic oil producing countries. Hence, scholarly research in the political sciences is even more bent against Israel. Combined with the inherent left wing bias against Israel, countries like Israel are treated as pariah nations within the (poison) ivy covered halls of Harvard.

Jonathan E. Grant on November 12, 2012 at 6:58 pm

“40% of the school’s seats go to blacks and Hispanics”

JEG, are you sure of this figure?!? Does it include undergrad as well as grad/professional schools?
One of my alma maters (University of Chicago) desperately tried to “diversify” under Horrible Hanna Gray, who launched a covert Affirmative Action program. At the time, I noticed that minorities generally wouldn’t go there because they’d have to work. At some point, Affirmative Action became official policy.

Sadly, Mrs. Gray (one always refers to PhDs by Mr./Mrs.) still lives.

skzion on November 12, 2012 at 8:37 pm

Yes, I am sure. Harvard is not U of Chicago, which is still a very fine school, particularly in the area of economics. Harvard produces the Obamas, Baby Bush, the creator of New coke, our foreign policy advisors, our spend and tax economists in the government, etc.

I went to a few different colleges. I went to graduate school at Johns Hopkins and my undergraduate was at the University of Maryland. I would pit the top students at Maryland against most of the Ivy League students.

We look at the Harvard and Yale labels as seals of great intelligence, but the fact is that the people who graduate with liberal arts degrees are as smart or as moronic as those who graduate from any other school. In fact, I would choose given the arrogance of the Ivy League schools, and the fact that you do not know if that individual graduating from the Ivy Leagues had contacts or was there due to Affirmative Action. Additionally, those in state schools who major in the sciences, economics, or the “hard majors” often have to work their butts off as the schools do not cater to their future alumni, at least not when I was an undergraduate.

In contrast, Hopkins tolerated undergraduate cheating, and gave out “A’s and “B’s” liberally.

Jonathan E. Grant on November 12, 2012 at 9:08 pm

Well, JEG, I’m not sure the College (i.e. the undergraduate school) is still special. Last time I checked, not a single person with power in the College actually went there.

The Chicago of my youth wouldn’t have had an idiot like Obama as a lecturer.

skzion on November 12, 2012 at 11:36 pm

      @Gay Obama,

The University of Chicago? Hmph, more like UIC, if your posts here are any indicator. Actually, that’s probably shortchanging UIC. I’m smelling ITT Tech here, folks. Either way, your elitism is NOT warranted. Chicago had low standards even when *I* was in HS. Back when *you* were applying, you must’ve had to spell your name correctly.

And as much as it pains me to admit it, I strongly suspect that that 40 percent at Harvard includes the Asians as well.

Status Monkey on November 12, 2012 at 9:35 pm

        And P.S. for Gay Obama,

The real howler (which predictably enough whizzed right over your head) is that “40 percent” legacy figure. Although some blacks and Mexicans get both “legacy” AND minority preferences (side note – doesn’t that kind of explode the stated justification for AA in the first place?), the actual figure for legacies is more like 10 percent. Maaaybe 15 percent at some schools. Maybe.

Status Monkey on November 12, 2012 at 9:52 pm

          @Gay Obama,

If you’re referring to the U of I at CHAMPAIGN (and LOL, how odd that you never picked the correct spelling up during your time at lackluster “Chicago”), I can live with that. When I was in HS, it was easier to get accepted at Chicago than out-of-state at UIUC. It was only a couple of years ago (when the chinamen all got hold of it) that they became selective. Was that place REALLY the best you could do?

          and

          @Skuzzz,

BAAAW! If you don’t like hearing Gay Obama being called, um, Gay Obama, then stop reading my posts. Oh, wait, you never read them in the first place, LOL.

Gay Obama is on record saying that society simply MUST become more “gay-friendly,” lest this terrible scourge of gay suicides continue – and yes, this even includes the insertion of pro-gay messages in CHILDREN’s films.

You ever watch a police show where they have a hostage situation? I always laugh when the “situation” is simply some dingleberry threatening to cut his OWN throat. The police should just shoot him.

As for Gay Obama (whose racket is actually very similar to that of race warriors like Obama), I would sooner see every last perv on Earth line up and jump into a volcano than have a single DROP of his poison inserted into a trusting young mind. Having lived the lifestyle himself, Gay Obama might at least redeem himself now by opposing it. Instead, it’s like watching “Return of the Jedi” and seeing Darth Vader throw LUKE into the reactor core.

I know you think that such antics are what define a conservative (LOL, he really leaps right out of the pages of Adam Smith, doesn’t he?), but you are obviously mistaken.

You are a moron, liar, and sociopath. Now you posture here as an expert in probability?

Your envy couldn’t could be more obvious. Your inability to reason and your awareness of this inability is equally obvious.

          @Gay Obama,

So my post claimed expertise in “probability?”

          Um …

I take back what I said about UIC and ITT Tech. The only way you went to school in “Chicago” is if the U. of Phoenix has a campus there.

And LOL at the “envy.” I went to HS at a stupid hoity-toity prep school (an experience I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, BTW). Let’s just say that the students there ran the table on the top-shelf colleges. I don’t remember a single one of my classmates so much as mentioning U.Chicago. It had rock-bottom standards, and this was not that long ago.

Assuming that you did somehow pass through the eye of the hula hoop and get in there, it must really creep out your fellow Maroons to know that they had a MORALS OFFENDER in their midst!

And you do not have a leg to stand on using ‘gay’ as an ad hominem against him as he is a REAL Conservative who does not let his persuasion EVER get in the way of his arguments. I appreciate and respect that and that you don’t proves what a moron you are.

BTW you are not wanted here and have been banned MANY times but sicko you needs to come back over and over again…to a place NO BODY appreciates you. THAT proves my point. I’d feel pity for you but you don’t deserve any. You should be discarded like a sh***y pile of Pampers. That’s what you are.

Thanks for the excellent summary. My uncle, a brilliant mathematician, was rejected by both Harvard and MIT for the reasons you state. He attended CCNY. I am a Harvard alum, and I never, ever speak of it. How could I associate myself with a school which has been and continues to be a bastion of Jew-hatred? Samantha Power, Stephen Walt, Barack Obama, and many others.

Harvard will eventually debase the brand, just going to take awhile.

What about the lands, food, women, and property stolen by MUSLIMS (Arabs) for 1,400 years? Syria, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Spain, Nigeria, and more. ALL were invaded and conquered by Muslims through war. They have nothing of their own to speak of, really.

Keiko on November 12, 2012 at 7:18 pm

P.S. I eat and love SABRA hummus. It is the ONLY brand hummus I buy (actually, I’m not a huge lover of hummus but I need the protein and SABRA really does make the best. I know b/c I experimented with a few brands). I try to buy Israeli products when I can. I also buy AHAVA, which makes wonderful skincare/beauty products.

Keiko on November 12, 2012 at 7:23 pm

And at Princeton University, not too long ago, a referendum was put forth to boycott Sabra brand hummus from being sold at Princeton. A lot of time and energy was spent by a bunch of perverted Princetonians to block the sale of products from Sabra–an Israeli company, as part of the disgusting national-level BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) campaign against Israel. Fortunatley, the students (in aggregate) at Princeton are not stupid or filled with hate, and they rejected that boycott.

As for hummus itself, the main ingredient is chickpeas (aka garbanzo beans), and they are documented to have been around for consumption for at least 9,000 years. According to some historians, hummas is mentioned in the Bible, Ruth 2-14. Chickpeas are also a primary ingredient in Falafel, another food of Middle East origin.

Although many will argue about the origins of these two popular foods, there is one thing that is absolutely certain. The best hummus and the best falafel in New York City is produced by the Israelis, not the Arabs. This is not just me talking, but countless polls. Now, New York City is a very, very competitive town when it comes to restaurants, and word gets around pretty fast about who has the best and most delicious food. The best of the best comes down to two restaurants: Taim and Azuri Cafe (both of which only serve Kosher Israeli food). Taim, by the way, means “delicious” in Hebrew, and they’re not just saying that; they deliver the goods.

Ralph Adamo on November 12, 2012 at 8:08 pm

Hate and love goes together. She must love Israel so much and know that she cannot attend israli moral standarts so she decided to appear in the media using Israel, as always. Who would know that the arabs exist if not for Israel?

Tropicasher on November 12, 2012 at 8:16 pm

Harvard has been going downhill for decades. That place is now the central orbit for academic fraud (Liz Warren, anyone?) and a profoundly corrupt racial spoils system.

Other schools are already getting close to catching or passing them up in prestige. Not that they’re actually behaving any differently. A few such universities aren’t even IN the Ivy League. Harvard’s pride of place in the so-called pecking order now hangs almost completely on hollow spin and PR – both of which fall apart on even the mildest scrutiny. Kind of sounds like a certain prominent affirmative action charity case – who by a truly bizarre coincidence managed to GRADUATE from their law school without ever learning what “judicial review” was:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/04/02/obama_supreme_court_striking_down_obamacare_would_be_judicial_activism.html

at the 0:38 mark. Unprecedented indeed.

Pure incompetence.

        @Roachy,

Yes, he’s quite the flaming fireball, isn’t he? Of course, we didn’t all go to the U of C community college, although my HS was probably roughly equivalent. BTW, Chicago is definitely NOT one of those schools I mentioned that is closing in on Harvard.

Status Monkey on November 13, 2012 at 2:37 pm

I see Muslim Monkey is making new friends, this time with Rochelle. His winning personality makes this inevitable.

He’s finally correct about something, though: my spelling of the University of Illinois’ location was indeed wrong. In truth, I don’t spend time thinking about the place and chose the wrong pop-up. With his “C” average (prior to his expulsion), I’m surprised he caught my mistake.

I’ll now add another chapter to the sorry tale of the sociopathic moron known around here as Muslim Monkey: the guy doesn’t realize the main conservative objection to Hussein’s social policies, namely that such policies presuppose that government should be involved in the first place. When we, as private citizens, urge other private citizens to do X or Y, we do not thereby become left-wing statists like Hussein. Indeed, relying on government to force compliance rather than arguing for voluntary action is what Hussein is all about. This is what makes his calling me “Gay Obama” so absurd.

But as for his personal “morality,” MM, takes special pleasure in teenage suicides when they occur in gay young men. I dunno, I kind of think that we should not find suicides entertaining regardless, and that we should take them especially seriously when they involve juveniles. MM, though, is a sociopath. Anything that interferes with his ability to express his ignorance enrages him. That, in a nutshell, explains his efforts to stalk me here.

One thing MM doesn’t care about is the Muslim menace, though. He cries for the Fakestinians but he badmouths the likes of Rabbi Kahane. I don’t see why Debbie puts up with him. As I said before, Monkey makes FrenchKiss look like a gentleman and a scholar.

skzion on November 13, 2012 at 6:30 pm

That’s right Skzion. At one point you were very kind to Monkeypud and he didn’t appreciate it and spit it right back at you. That proves he’s a sociopath…he doesn’t care to discern friend or foe…it’s all about him.

He’s a profoundly lazy thinker. Sociopaths can be cunning (he isn’t~he is just pathetically relentless) but what peeps must be reminded of is that they are also LAZY. They scheme & lie so much that it burns up most of their energy. Except the homicidal ones, that is.

He also failed to remember or appreciate your take on Flip Floppney. It was closer to what he was gonna do on Nov 6 than what I was gonna do (and did). Truth and facts go nowhere with him. He’s like crazed Klaus Kinski at the end of “Aguirre:The Wrath Of God” with all those monkeys monkeying around him in his lunatic psychotic break.

But he’s the one who must come here and bore us all with his solipsistic posts and mental illness. I just like reminding others so they can see how pathetic he is that he comes to a place where he was banned because of his anti-social and STUPID behaviour.

And he’s a boring writer. I am serious when I say that. I don’t read his posts because I give my time to those who have intelligent things to say and share. Bob Dole is so 1990s!

          @Gay Obama,

So then! I guess you don’t even MIND what Harvard (a private institution, if I’m not mistaken) voluntarily does, right? Oh, and why are you pestering your smelly pretended alma mater for its minority SAT scores, hmmmmm? Is Obama somehow FORCING them to discriminate against whites? Phony and hypocritical as always. You’ve got your “team,” and so do the most insane Muslim clerics. I see very little to distinguish you from them.

As for U of C, just give it up, dude. You were totally BUSTED. “University of Chicago,” huh? You should’ve at least picked a halfway-decent school for your fakery. Or perhaps one in a region you are at least remotely familiar with. “B-b-but, the puh-puh-POP-up!” LOL.

“Rabbi” Kahane is still an AIDS-infested superfool. And I imagine Schlussel “puts up” with me because it’s so refreshing to see someone bury you under your many mountains of bullcrap. Whether she wants to admit it or not, she probably realizes that I actually do a fairly good job of it.

Status Monkey on November 13, 2012 at 7:37 pm

Skunky, your comments regarding Muslim Monkey are incisive as usual. I had not connected his sociopathy and his laziness. But of course they would be related.

I expect Debbie has decided to let me humiliate MM because she was tired of enforcing the ban. However, I for one, disagree with her. It seems clear that MM enjoys being beaten up by those he hates (just about everyone). While I do not waste my time criticizing “50 Shades of Gray” types in general, I do object when their perversion involves me in the activities. Muslim Monkey is rubbing up against me in a commute: if I ignore him, he continues; if I wallop him he spontaneously ejaculates. His actions here are disgusting and inappropriate.

As readers will acknowledge, sometimes that which is ignored is what is most important. The perverted Muslim Monkey doesn’t even question my description of his pleasure at gay teen suicides. Nor does he dispute my obviously true summary of the fundamentally anti-conservative element of Hussein: Hussein’s statism. And, this Muslim Monkey, who has been calling me “Gay Obama” for months, and who claims that I am not a conservative, does not adduce any evidence that I am a statist. In fact, I’ve indicated before (most recently regarding the Boy Scouts) that I do not support government compulsion of non-governmental entities.

On a much less important topic, I do not think the U of C needs me to defend it, although why I would lie about my alma mater if it is indeed the crappy school the sociopath Muslim Monkey claims it is remains a mystery. I suppose I could scan and post a cover or two from my decades-old copy of The History of Western Civilization, with the U of C imprint, or I could discuss the one-year course “Self, Culture, and Society” and its book list (including Freud’s Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis, Durkheim’s Elementary Forms of the Religious Life, and Marx’s German Ideology, Kapital, and Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts), but what’s the point?

Ultimately, a moron is obvious from his writing. Muslim Monkey is a moron.

Sore cooter, dude? You sure get worked up for someone who thinks he won the argument.

Gross analogy, BTW. But revealing. The only way I’d touch your grody carcass would be if I got to wear a HAZMAT suit – underneath a bomb squad suit.

I find it funny that you apparently thought my reference to UIC meant the flagship school at “Champagne,” rather than the U of I in Chicago. As a “graduate” of U.Chicago, I figured you might’ve heard of it, since the uninitiated are always confusing the two.

Soooo busted. I don’t know how much more humiliation I can take, LOL.

Status Monkey on November 14, 2012 at 9:53 pm

Muslim Monkey is making even less sense than usual–which is quite a feat.

Now we’re down to the topics of his perversion and “Champagne,” with some babble about U of I, Circle. Regarding the first, his prediction about Bob Dole was, in retrospect, the first clue. Typically, even ignorant morons don’t leave themselves so exposed. But you see, our resident blog pervert is all about “exposing” himself. He has a seemingly unlimited desire for humiliation. Regarding the second, I’m just too bored to bother. I notice, though, that Mary Ruth Yoe is still the executive editor of the alumni rag, which I have open before me. She didn’t attend Chicago (I once spoke to her), but knew full well that the school looked nothing like the rag’s portrayal. Off to the trash it goes!

Monkey, since you narrowly prefer bullying to humiliation I will continue to ensure the latter, until Debbie bans your ass for good.

Oh, and Debbie, all you have to do is to delete his garbage when it appears. This will take all his fun away.

Status Monkey on November 14, 2012 at 11:17 pm

Texas Tech is really building an outstanding program. I also hear good things about Baylor. Yale has already experienced a considerable slide, and I think Harvard will follow. Competition will eventually take care of the problem.

azure on November 13, 2012 at 2:13 pm

I stand corrected, but my basic premise is correct.

Minority representation remained strong. The admitted class is 17.8 percent Asian-American, 11.8 percent African-American, 12.1 percent Latino, 1.9 percent Native American, and 0.2 percent Native Hawaiian. Although it is difficult to make precise comparisons to previous years because of changes in federal requirements concerning the collection and reporting of race and ethnicity information, it is likely that the percentages of African-American and Latino students are records.

Now, I have no problem with Asians going to college in a greater percentage than their population, as they do on average outperform their fellow white students. But, at the same time, many of the other minorities are there because of affirmative action, which explains why even Harvard has remedial classes for many students! I also agree that many white students are legacy students, so other than the arrogance and great alumni connections, what makes the Ivy Leagues so special?

Jonathan E. Grant on November 12, 2012 at 11:11 pm

Jon, those figures seem more plausible. Count on it that blacks and hispanics at any Ivy League school are way dumber that Asians, and substantially dumber that whites–and the whites average in the legacy whites, who are not rocket scientists.

I don’t think the situation is that different at Chicago. Several years back, I was denied information on entrance test score differences between blacks, hispanics, and whites at Chicago. I think we know why.

skzion on November 13, 2012 at 12:00 am

There is nothing special about the Ivys nowadays, certainly in undergraduate education. A top liberal arts college is clearly preferable for the humanities or social sciences.

This just in from Formerly Great Britain:

http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2012/11/good-news-employers-in-merry-old.html

It’s a photo of a memo sent to employees of a major clothing company, reminding them not to eat pork on the premises.

But of course, that couldn’t happen here.

Chicago is sinking fast. Marlene Dixon has won a belated victory.

Little Al on November 13, 2012 at 12:05 am

Harvard and Mr. Kenny should apologize to all Americans who love Israeli Cous Cous which is a top seller at Trader Joes here in Washington DC. The complaining student needs help overcoming her racist bigotry. Shame on Harvard.

max shane on November 13, 2012 at 4:24 am

Those Islamic students should be sent back to their respective homelands. Let them obtain their degrees or professional certificates at home. The insane need to be restrained, rather than enabled.

Worry01 on November 13, 2012 at 4:29 am

    Last time I checked, being a suicide-bomber shahid(-ah) DIDN’T require a degree.

The only thing correct here is that Halloumi cheese is, indeed, a Muslim product, as I’ve noted previously on this site, which is why you should NEVER buy it. If you do, you are funding Jew-haters in Cypress

Shouldn’t that be Cyprus? As in that Mediterranean island torn b/w Turkey & Greece?

Sorry for the double post – Debbie, please delete the first of my above 2 comments, as well as this one.

alright, knock it off with the academia one-upmanship… it’s nauseating.

kirche on November 13, 2012 at 8:51 am

Look, only Jews eat cholent and not all of us but EVERYONE from Iraq to (Spanish) Morocco eats hummus, falafel and all the other things on this menu so it’s really irrelevant, except to point out that “Jewish” or kosher food does not mean only cholent and gefilte fish.

Israel is part of the Middle East so “Middle East Buffet” would be accurate. Why does everything have to turn into a political statement? You guys don’t want to eat “Arab” food, halal food and they don’t want to eat Israeli food for the same reason. Stuff like this makes you look ridiculous and diminishes your valid points.

Italkit on November 13, 2012 at 10:05 am

Italkit, I am missing your point. I’m not Jewish but when I initially read this article it was elementary to me that this Moooooooslima would be upset with ANYTHING that was Jewish, Israeli and stuff of that ilk….as Mooooslims and dhimmis are wont to do. It shows (yet again) not only their hatred of Jews but how totalitarian, petty and how they want “special” treatment. I don’t see a Jewish equivalency.

Maybe I am missing a nuance of your post. I am willing to stand corrected if that is so BUT lately you have been expressing a mild to overt contrarian mentality and I’m curious as to why you just don’t come out and say overtly what is bugging you.

“Israel already has a hard time keeping face in the Arab world for the way it has ‘appropriated’ its lands since 1948, don’t make it worse for them by having them appropriate other peoples’ foods as well,” she added.

Far from “appropriating Arab lands since 1948,” Israel was perfectly willing, in 1948, to have its land appropriated. Ever hear of the U.N. partition plan?

SPAIN really did appropriate Arab land. I wonder how she feels when the cafeteria serves Spanish rice.

I think Harvard should apologize to any Breton students if the cafeteria ever serves French toast.

Miranda Rose Smith on November 13, 2012 at 11:47 am

What a stupid complaimt. Middle Eastern foods a re a blend of jewish, Egyptian, Turkish, Greek, French, Italian cuisines. I do not think you can differentiate between them at all. These punks just act like fagots trying to attract your attention to them just in case.

G. R. Scharoubim on November 13, 2012 at 12:55 pm

What was on display was not some generic version of cous cous, roast lamb, tahini, etc. but the *Israeli* version. The majority of Israel’s Jews trace their roots to Arab lands, where Jewish communities preceded the Islamic conquest often by centuries. They brought their culinary preferences with them, but those foods evolved due to local tastes, experimentation, availability of ingredients, etc. That’s what happens. Pizza, for example, has its roots in Italy. But Chicago Deep Dish is our own take on the original.

Harvard’s response to one woman’s complaint is craven and disgraceful. The proper response was “Get over yourself.”

I’m assuming this is her:

Sara El-Yafi
Managing Director at ScoopCity

Past: Managing Director at ScoopCity Education: Harvard Kennedy School of Government

Schooled under Walt at the KSG, no doubt.

With the holiday season upon us, shouldn’t we be more charitable to Muslims? The Jews have their Nobel prizes, their advances in science and medicine. Let the Muslims have their delusions. Oh, excuse me – I almost forgot – they really should get credit for the suicide vest.

Gloria Stewart on November 14, 2012 at 11:17 am

I find the complaints regarding this menu to be inconsistent with the spirit of our country and I am offended by the apology issued by Harvard University. In America, we embrace diversity and celebrate culture in artwork, religion, food, education, entertainment, and much more. What is next?? Shall Italians protest when a campus offers Chicago style pizza? Shall Mexicans protest that tex-mex cusine is infringing upon their claims regarding tacos? There is no state action here violating the beliefs of this great nation! Shall we return to segregation? Brown v Board of education? Separate but equal? Perhaps only arabic students should be offered fatoush salad while Israeli students should have exclusive rights to matza balls?? What message are you intending to send??

Jennifer Fisher on November 14, 2012 at 5:32 pm

I’ll bet Ms. Sara El-Yafi is hungry. I should send her a couple of pulled pork sandwiches…..

Tanstaafl jw on November 15, 2012 at 12:51 pm

Hey Debbie — Sara El-Yafi is smarter, sexier, and younger than you, and it must kill you. Oh, and “Cypress” is not a country.

Oh yeah? on November 26, 2012 at 4:55 am

It’s hard to come by knowledgeable people for this topic, however, you sound like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks

Its hilarious, you have the same sick racists on this website backing up every stupid post.
All the food on this menu is clearly from different regions of the arab world. No need to go all ape-shit on Sarah for standing up as a Lebanese first and a muslim second. My Christian Lebanese friends at harvard wer also outraged by this.
You can’t decide that all muslims are bad… Srsly. People in Lebanon lived happily before Israel. Muslims Jews and Christians, I even have a Jewish friend in Israel right now. Stop generalizing stuff, and stealing other peoples cultures because you don’t have one. Judaism is a religion. Israel is a country(sadly). Jews could be living in Lebanon, that makes the food LEBANESE and not JEWISH.

I’m Christian btw, maybe that might let your racist brain think twice before banning me.
