Ann Romney’s “War on Men”: Sexist Speech Says Women Care More Than Men, “Single Moms Hold Country Together”

By Debbie Schlussel

So, this is how desperate the Republican Party and the Romney camp are to win in November. So desperate that they gave Ann Romney a sexist, anti-male speech to deliver, and she eagerly obliged. Despite the mindless group-think gushing on the right, anyone who heard that speech–anyone who read its text–knows that Ann Romney, last night, launched a “War on Men” in order to try to gain the women’s vote and counter the Obama baloney about a “War on Women”. It won’t work. But she and the GOP know they can get away with it because, after all, where are the men gonna go? Are they gonna vote for Obama? No. So, now, they are just chopped liver. Unappreciated. Now, Ann Romney tells us, they care less about their families and sigh much less about desperate economics that face their families. It’s the women, she instructs us Gloria Steinem-style, who care more. It’s the women who must–according her to NOW ethos–that must work far harder to prove themselves at work. Huh?

Ann Romney & The Feminists Man-Haters @ NOW: Their Rhetoric is the Same

On what planet is she living? Certainly not the planet in which women are getting benefit after benefit, job after job, and promotion after promotion because of gender-based affirmative action. Oh, and guess what? Ann Romney says that single moms “hold America together.” No, moronette, they TEAR America APART. Incredible. Four years ago, we had a VP nominee who glorified single motherhood by pimping out her babymama daughter to reality shows and high-paid speaking engagements, promoting teen motherhood. Now, we regressed even further, with the First Lady wannabe embracing single motherhood as something that makes America great, when every single solid statistic shows they are a major factor in destroying America, by creating generations of fatherless kids who don’t want to be men and don’t know how (other than turning to drugs, crime, babydaddyhood, and slacking at home at age 35).

Here’s the text of Ann Romney’s horrifying speech (only horrifying if you have a brain and the ability to get beyond the rah-rah, let’s beat Obama and do-anything-to-get-there BS surrounding her absurd speech; for everyone else, you may return to your brainless drooling):

And if you listen carefully, you’ll hear the women sighing a little bit more than the men. It’s how it is, isn’t it?

It’s the moms who always have to work a little harder, to make everything right.

It’s the moms of this nation — single, married, widowed — who really hold this country together. We’re the mothers, we’re the wives, we’re the grandmothers, we’re the big sisters, we’re the little sisters, we’re the daughters.

You know it’s true, don’t you? You’re the ones who always have to do a little more.

You know what it’s like to work a little harder during the day to earn the respect you deserve at work and then come home to help with that book report which just has to be done. You know what those late night phone calls with an elderly parent are like and the long weekend drives just to see how they’re doing. You know the fastest route to the local emergency room and which doctors actually answer the phone when you call at night.

You know what it’s like to sit in that graduation ceremony and wonder how it was that so many long days turned into years that went by so quickly.

You are the best of America. You are the hope of America. There would not be an America without you.

Tonight, we salute you and sing your praises.

I’m not sure if men really understand this.

[Emphasis added.]

HUH? HUH? HUH? This is the rhetoric of the bra-burning refugees of the ’60s and ’70s. Men don’t work hard, men sigh less, men don’t understand? Single moms of this nation “really hold this country together”? Only women help their kids with homework, only they help elderly parents and go visit them at the hospital? Are you frickin’ kidding me? Women have to work harder to earn respect they “deserve” at work? And she knows this from working her full-time, back-breaking job at I Have a Car Elevator, Inc? No one devalues her work as a stay-at-home mother, a noble calling, but she hasn’t a clue what it’s like in today’s work place, where men are the losers in endless affirmative action.

Um, we just had a major scandal break in the Obama Department of Homeland Security, run by WOMEN, in which women actually did not “work a little harder during the day to earn the respect [they] deserve.” In fact, they didn’t work hard at all in sexually harassing and discriminating against straight male ICE agents. What she said about that and her claim that women care more about their families is just the same absolute bunk you can hear at a feminist “womyn’s” potluck vegan dinner and cigar fest during WNBA halftime.

Why are the men of America taking this sitting down? Because they’ve become wimps and predictable Pavlov’s dogs who salivate at the prospect of anything that can beat Obama. Anything at all, no matter what tactics–including this not-so-veiled feminist rant–are used.

Sad. She responds to the class warfare against her rich husband by fighting a gender war against America’s men.

Yup, this is how desperate the GOP is to win in November: they’ve adopted the anti-male lingua franca of the left. Who needs Betty Friedan, when you have Ann Romney taking her place, with a drug-addled version of women as the true martyrs of American life and its workplace?

Ann Romney, you lost me. Wish I could say the same about America’s men–that Ann Romney lost them, too. But after decades of attacks from Ann Romney’s apparent colleagues in the feminism industry, their testicles have atrophied to the point that your sickening attack on them, last night, went unnoticed.

Single moms as the backbone of America. Hilarious.

Memo to Ann Romney and the GOP: You don’t comabat Obama’s “You Didn’t Build This” with Ann Romney’s “She Built It, and Men Just Don’t Understand.”

***

By the way, don’t count on Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives to point any of this out. They’ll gush endlessly over this anti-male diatribe where they’d go on the attack if Debbie Wasserman-Schultz or Michelle Obama said these things. They’ve lost their principles and will embrace anything because they want to beat Barack Obama so badly. They did the same thing by embracing Sarah Palin and excusing the endless glorification of single motherhood she engaged in with her babymama daughter. Don’t look for anything different here, because you won’t get it.

Pathetic.

The ghost of Betty Friedan is having the last laugh.

DS…Thank you for exposing the DEMOCRATS war on “men.” They’ve been conducting this “war” for the past-quarter century. Simply put-they DEMOCRATIC Party “hates” men- especially “white men.” And the fact that Joe Biden authored the “Violence Against Women Act” substantiates it.

Black males have the luxury of attributing it to “victimhood” but, what about caucasian males? How many single “white” fathers have you heard about? Now, in contrast, how many single “mom’s” are paraded out there on a regular basis?

You tell ’em Patrick. I’m a single, tax-paying woman and I, for one, am sick of the special pleading and self-indulgent horse-crap that surrounds the subject of single motherhood. What about all the dads out there who got rooked, hoodwinked, and dumped on?? Aren’t they part of the “backbone of America?” And for that matter, what about all the single dads who bust their butts to send child support to all those single mothers?? Do they get any credit?

Holy friggin’ cow!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this article. Yes, I will vote to put Romney and his smarmy wife in the white house in November; what choice do I have at this point? BUT…….I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion about Ann Romney’s stupid and embarassing speech. While the conservative pundits lauded her efforts and found her very “genuine,” I felt slightly embarassed for her and for the party. While her life experience of raising 5 boys and supporting her husband is completely commendable, IMO, she came off as a total rube on the subject of life in the work place, where she obviously hasn’t spent much time. And the single motherhood thing is REALLY starting to chap my rear from these supposedly conservative women. NO ONE wants to say what NEEDS to be said about this scourge on American cultural life – It’s an expensive and erosive phenomenon that serves no one. Kudos to you, Debbie S. You got guts, kiddo……

BTW, while I’m a fan of Rush Limbaugh, I have to agree with you on that score too. But in his defense, what can he do? Getting Obama out of office actually IS the primary directive right now, no matter how cynical that seems. His policies are going to basically destroy us if he gets another 4 years, so we’re stuck with this bubble-headed baba and her sweetie pie speeches. I guess the best I can says is she’s a TOTAL friggin’ improvement over Michelle and her creepy kiddie health initiatives. But, for course, that’s not saying much, I guess.

Anyway, thanks, Debbie, for keeping the fires of sanity blazing!!
