Unfortunately, this is not a new type of honor killing, this happens quite frequently in the Muslim/Albanian regions of Kosovo. I remember a couple of cases where newborns were found in the river and one was hung from a tree.

I thought there were women around the world who killed their illegitimate children. This doesn’t really feel like an honor killing in the same way that killing your sister for getting raped does.

Sure it’s an honor killing. These ladies aren’t murdering their children because they cannot support them or don’t want to care for them. They’re murdering them out of fear that if they don’t murder the children, they themselves will be murdered.
