Paki Down’s Syndrome Girl Facing Death Nothing New in Islamic World (Where Mentally Disabled Are Seen as Subhuman)

As I’ve noted several times on this site, the Islamic world doesn’t view the mentally disabled as human. In fact, Muslims regard mentally disabled fellow Muslims as damaged goods to be disposed of like an abortion. And, so, I am neither shocked nor surprised that a Pakistani girl with Down’s Syndrome may face a death sentence in a blasphemy trial. After all, Muslims in Gaza and the Palestinian Authority constantly send their mentally disabled with suicide bombs to blow themselves and Israeli soldiers up. Muslims in Iraq did this with a mentally disabled Muslim woman whom they tried to use as a bomb against American soldiers and other Iraqis. And I noted that Palestinian Muslims who wanted to get rid of their Down’s Syndrome boy sent him into a restricted area where they knew he’d be shot up by Israeli soldiers (the soldiers saved him from his horrid family). My own former Saudi Muslim neighbors (I’ll tell you about them another time) locked their empty apartment and left their Down’s Syndrome child to roam the parking lot helplessly (and she couldn’t speak English or communicate). So, this story is just consistent with how they treat those who are handicapped, either physically or mentally. That this girl in Pakistan is a Christian makes her doubly subhuman in their minds.

Greater Barbaria: How Muslims Treat The Mentally Disabled

A Christian girl with Down’s Syndrome has been arrested on blasphemy charges in Pakistan, accused of burning pages inscribed with verses from the Koran, police and activists said on Sunday.

Police arrested Rimsha, who is recognized by a single name, on Thursday after she was reported holding in public burnt pages which had Islamic text and Koranic verses on them, a police official told AFP.

A conviction for blasphemy is punishable by death in Pakistan. . . .

Angry Muslim protesters held rallies demanding she be punished, said the official, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case. . . .

Rimsha was produced before a court on Friday and remanded in custody for 14 days, another police official said. She is expected to go before the court again by end of this month. . . .

The girl’s alleged behavior sparked Muslim anger in Mehrabad, an area of the capital where she lives with her parents and where up to 800 Christians reside. Christians there were forced to leave amid mounting fury. . . .

“She was just 11 to 12 years old,” he said, adding it was a hugely sensitive issue and “we would not like it to be mishandled and would rather want to resolve it amicably”.

Even if this girl is set free, she faces a likely death sentence anyway, as one or more Pakistanis will probably kill her. Oh, and by the way, this isn’t just “a few extremists who hijacked a religion.” Nope, it’s a sea of Muslims throughout Pakistan who mostly want her dead. It’s not just a few fringe “extremist Muslims.” Remember . . .

That saddens me as a Muslim; since blasphemy is not publishable in Islam and we are instructed per the Quran to ignore those who are blasphemous to us and our religion. I wish more Muslims follow the Quran as it is without outside influences such as non-proven Hadiths and Fatwas; which both are things that emerged after the death of the Prophet.

Only problem is those are the early Medina verses you cite, when Mohammed was weak and needed to paint his new religion in glowing colors of peace and tolerance.

They were superseded by the later war-like and savage Meccan verses, in which Mohammed comes across as triumphant, blood-thirsty and unforgiving. That is the Islam we know today and I wonder why you do not cite them.

Islam is not a religion known for benevolence and respect for human life. We see the results everyday across the Muslim World.

Actually, it’s the reverse – the Meccan suras precede the ones from Muhammed’s Medinan period. Our Muslim friend, PP, cites only Meccan passages. And he never bothers to tell us that those passages have all been cancelled (or, at the very least, reinterpreted), based upon the Islamic doctrine of Naskh, or abrogation. (2:106 – “None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: Knowest thou that Allah hath power over all things?) The later Medinan verses, violent and hateful, are the ones that hold sway, particularly suras 2 and 5. The latter (see 9:5) for example, commands: “When the sacred months have passed, slay the idolators wherever ye find them, and take them captive, and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush.”)

For anyone who cares, I wrote: “The later Medinan verses, violent and hateful, are the ones that hold sway, particularly suras 2 and 5.” I intended to write “suras 9 and 5.” Sura 2, however, is also rife with hatred for unbelievers, specifically the Jews, who are castigated for refusing to accept Muhammed as the Final Prophet.

Yup. I felt sorry for a Muslim friend considering changing their religion.

Not only would they cut themselves off from family, they would risk a death sentence going to any Muslim land.

The truth is its not easy for people growing up in such a world to do things we take for granted.

Its not just the disabled they see as subhuman, its all of us who aren’t blessed by Allah.

And even being Muslim is no guarantee for your own life as we all too well know.

PP, I assume your a great person (if you and I met in real life, I wouldn’t mind being pals with you buddy) and quote many koranic verses in context, but the problem is that MANY of your co-religionists take your religion WAY too seriously, and that’s why I refer to them as “koran-thumpers”!

Regarding the story, I feel for this poor child in Pakistan on what she’s going through with those fundamentalists muslim whackjobs, and also, where is the International Community on this issue? They should do this kids bidding and protect her from these subhamn vermin who wants this poor child dead.

The few genuinely liberal and tolerant Muslims in Pakistan who have tried to protect minority rights have been murdered.

That tells us which way the political winds are blowing in the Muslim World.

Debbie’s right the kid’s probably going to die any way. And the decent people who can help her are an ineffectual minority or dead which amounts to the same thing.

There is no future for free thought and tolerance in the Muslim World. That’s just the way things are and to those like Debbie who have Muslim friends – that’s a fact of life to which there isn’t light in the offing at the end of the tunnel.

When you read a story like this one – keep that in mind.

On this was just last month in Pakistan:

“Last month, an angry crowd seized a man accused of blasphemy, and who was also said to be mentally unstable, from a police station and burnt him to death in the Bahawalpur area of Punjab province.”

Yup – burning people to death for blasphemy without a trial – that’s Islam! In which being accused of showing contempt towards the Koran can get you killed. And it takes nothing to get mobs to want to tear someone apart.

There is no such as an Islamic civilization. Who in the West nowadays burns people? If you think it can’t happe here, think again.

Well, Rimsha is lucky in that since she suffers from Down’s Syndrome, Muslims may not bother raping her, as they would have had she simply been a Christian/Sikh/Hindu not suffering from any mental conditions.

But given that for Muslims, women have half the intelligence as men (it’s there in the Sunnah) and that they are ’tilth’ i.e. they are only good for breeding purposes, why do Muslims care that a Muslim woman would suffer any mental illness? Do they actually genetically trace sources of illnesses? Given all the incest that goes on amongst their peoples, of course not! I can understand them sending male mental Muslims (am I being redundant here?) to their deaths, but female mental Muslims seem like just more tilths. They could go through their temporary marriages, and discard them like toilet paper just like they do w/ everybody else.

The other thing about any Muslim country, or any country that has enough Muslims, is that if Shariah ain’t already enforced by law, it will be enforced by Muslim vigilantes who’d go unchecked. Which is why all the pretence about some countries following Shariah law and others not is totally worthless.

It’s been well noted, over the years, that Islam is genrally intolerant of anyone with a mental handicap. However, looking at Syria, where Assad is butchering thousands of his own people, just like his father did in the early ’80s. Then, looking at his Assad’s closest ally, Iran, who sent several thousand of its “volunteer” children to detonate Iraqi mines, by stepping on them, during the Iraq-Iran war, somehow, I don’t see Islam as being the “religion of tolerance” or the “religion of peace”, as noted by many politicos and the majority of the left-leaning press.

When I was in middle school, I remember reading the follow-up to Not Without My Daughter, For The Love of a Child, which was filled with different accounts of international child abduction. One of the accounts most similar to Betty Mahmoody’s indeed took place in Pakistan, and the child in question was diagnosed as having a very mild case of Downs’. The mother was cautioned to never reveal this to anyone, as it’d have been a death sentence for the little boy.

Clearly not much has changed.

I am extremely uneducated regarding Islam (though I think I know enough by watching their actions). All the comments have been very eye opening. As a Christian in America I have become more aware and concerned about rising Islamic communities and population. The God blessed open nature of our country and it’s freedoms may have reached the point of our undoing. Not because of Islam but because democracy allows a voice for the harsh slanted views of the human secular liberal movement. After 9/11 I became very concerned having started a family just two years prior. My heart aches for my children growing up in what I believe is a harsh, freedom-strangled future.

Its true that the Medina verses contain violence while the Mecca ones dont but why is that? Its very simple and reasoned.

The Prophet was in a state of war when he was at Medina, the apostates took control of Mecca and kicked him and his companions out of it; so of course, he went to Medina and raised an army to defeat those who kicked him out of his land.

Once in Medina, your “prophet” turned to robbing caravans and justifying these actions by declaring that Allah approved of taking booty from unbelievers; his actions appealed to an increasing number of cutthroats – who came to be known as “the faithful” and those who were “rightly guided”, etc. who saw that they could commit acts of robbery and murder and be considered pious. Muhammed, as his successes in murder and mayhem continued, inevitably turned his animus toward the civilized and successful Jewish tribes of Medina, which he attacked and ultimately destroyed, always citing invented grievances which justified his crimes. In his post-Meccan period, Muhammed was in a state of war with everyone, and he was always the aggressor.

@PP… Got any proof for your evidence that Quran encourages a man to hit his wife? I challenge you to bring any verse which states the above statement. According to the Prophet (SAW) sunnah, he (SAW) never hit a woman, a slave, a child or even an animal. Whereas, if so-called civilized Western people open up their past they’ll find that blacks were discriminated almost all the time. Women were forced to stay inside & not work. Even today some of those ‘civilized’ people still rape women. Women particularly in the West are not safe from the dirty NON-MUSLIM men. Now tell me why does this happen?
