Keep in mind that this person who tweeted this at me does not live in Riyadh or in Tehran. He doesn’t live in Beirut or Cairo or Damascus. Nope, Saad Shahid lives in Staten Island, New York. Muslims in America are no less extremist, no less anti-Semitic and Jew-hating, no less intolerant than Muslims any other place in the world. They are just as radical and loony right down the street, whether or not they listen to hip-hop music and wear Levis or watch “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” I suppose it’s no coincidence that his surname, Shahid, means Islamic martyr and is the term for suicide bombers and other Islamic terrorists. My question would be if he is such a good Muslim, why does he not live in places where Sharia is in full force? Instead, he lives in the United States. Does Saad Shahid like to practice Islam, while not living it? Malaysia, Turkey, and Egypt are easily accessible, but I doubt that he will be trying to live in those Islamic lands.

But lets suppose that you are correct, why would muslims want to do that? There are already multiple muslims countries where they could live freely without being persecuted.

If your argument is that most of these countries are war-torn nations – why don’t they just live in UAE or Jordan? Seriously I don’t understand your point. At all.

Finally, ALL MUSLIMS DO NOT WANT SHARIA LAW. That is actually a major reason why many American Muslims migrate to America in the first place. They want to be able to practice their religion freely and without compulsion just like the followers of any other religion in America.

I don’t mean to sound rude but your question answers itself. The reason why there are American Muslims (yes there are American citizens that practice Islam, like it or not), is because for whatever reason they do not want to live in another country. Like you said, if they wanted to live in a country where Sharia is law, they would do so. Like the followers of any other religion, some Muslims are more devout and others are less devout. The more devout choose to live in countries where Sharia is law and the less devout (including myself) choose to live in countries where there is separation between the church and the state and people of multiple religions can coexist under a democratic nation (or so the story goes).

Regardless, this man’s comment had absolutely nothing to do with sharia law.

This man’s comment (which I personally think is incredibly disrespectful, unnecessary, and anti-semetic) is likely a knee jerk reaction to Debbie’s articles, which, lets face it are incredibly provocative. I’m not saying what he did was right, i’m just saying, you have to expect these types of reactions. Debbie’s articles message boards are littered with similar comments directed towards Muslims.

With all that being said, I would like to remind my fellow readers to NOT GENERALIZE this one man’s views to a group of millions of people (Muslims).

The reason why Israel and Palestine will continue to be at war for all of my lifetime is that people raise their children to hate the other side. This results in their children growing up to continue fighting the war of their parents. All of this is an incredible waste of human life. Choosing to hate one another and incite hatred of entire groups of people because of one bad seed is not the answer. It will only incite further violence (for example the shootings in Wisconsin).

Your comment proves this incitement of violence and I really hope alerts fellow readers to the dangers of these types of articles. It is this type of hatred that has caused the senseless killings of so many Americans (Yes I’m talking about what happened in Wisconsin and the multiple hate crimes before that).

Like i’ve said before, i’m sure this was a protective knee jerk reaction, as was Saad’s comment. Once again i completely condemn what he said.

With regards to your quotation at the end. Yes, a nation is defined by its languages and cultures. And right now the United States is composed of millions of people with different languages and cultures than your own (including your persian friend, and millions of muslims).

I happen to have Runciman’s later book, the Fall of Constantiple, which is much more nuanced that his earliest work, which Wiki never actually quotes. Here is what Wiki says:

Staten Island has MANY Muslums and a very large immigrant population from Albania and Bosnian War Refugees thanks to Bill Clinton. The women were the ugliest I have ever seen. I was surprised they procriated. The largest mosque in New York is actually on Victory Blvd. in Thomkinsville. I used to live one street away and could see it out my bedroom window. To anyone and everyone I would always refer to it as The Bomb Factory. There are Halal places all around there and sometimes I was fortunate enough to catch the delivery of slaughtered lamb stacked high in the back of non-refridgerated normal everyday dirty filthy trucks to the local restaurants on hot summer days.

My neighbors NEVER smiled. Right next door were the full burqa family. They never said a peep to me. I was the renegade in that neighborhood for 13 years, flying a big Stars & Stripes off my second floor front deck for all to see, playing Rock and Roll as I BBQ’d, drank beer and smoked cigars. I was always friendly and said “Hi” to all passers by. They were like zombies. I moved to a MUCH nicer section of the island a couple of years ago leaving that ‘hood to the muslums and the Mexicans that were overflowing into there as well(Those two cultures are like oil and water).

Staten Island is very isolated with a small police presence unlike the rest of NYC. It has produced several “Home Grown” Muslum Terroists so far (they got nowhere, thankfully).

*also a large Russian immigrant population here. Equally unfriendly but surpisingly they vote Republican having dealt with the Communists (Democrats) in the past.

Then, of course, there’s the Mob…but that’s a whole other story.

Staten Island is a productive place with pockets of circumstances that are acceptable to some, and unacceptable to others! As too the animals that are in open site! Call 311 and ask for someone to look into the matter! You need to give your name, & probably your address! That is so the reliability of a claim can be followed through for it’s truth, or for it’s misunderstanding of something, or it’s out right lie! Call any of the main tv mobile units that visit Staten Island, and they may come to see the issue your talking about! If you just don’t like your neighbors, you can remember that they may not like you! I clean the storm sewer drain by my house! Jean, mockery does work quite well with Muslims. Their mode of argumentation tends to be very rudimentary and almost childlike at times. When confronted with obvious errors and logical fallacies, they react in angrily and sometimes violently. If possible, the opposing position should be pushed even harder. It is really not for the benefit of the Muslim, but for the unaffiliated members of the audience who get to see first hand what Muslims are actually like. Islam cannot bear not being taken seriously, so that is an angle to work on. Have Muslims make themselves look foolish.

As for your second point, THERE IS NO JIHAD. There is currently NO HOLY WAR going on in the world. There is no jihad to defeat. The real enemies are those that incite hate. First of all, many people seem to think that all Muslims are Arabs. NOT TRUE (Unless you’re talking about the definition used in the movie “The Dictator”, but I highly doubt any of you saw it). There are millions of Asian Muslims in China, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore as well as African Muslims.

With regards to the “religious war” that you refer to:
I understand why after terrorist attacks, people wanted answers and wanted to avenge the tragic deaths, however MUSLIMS (as a general population) were not responsible for it. A small group of terrorists (yes they happened to be muslims) killed Americans (of many faiths).

You have to realize that all of this hatred from Americans such as yourself gets relayed back to the Middle East. Imagine living in the middle east, growing up hearing about how much the Americans hate you and wish you and everyone who was the same religion as you were dead. Imagine living under circumstances of poverty and a terrorist recruiter offers you a large sum of money to fight against these Americans that hate you so much. It’s exactly like what Ron Paul has been trying to explain all along but Americans are too uneducated to listen. This hatred that you guys keep perpetuating, is what has caused and will cause terrorist attacks.

Only Peace and Love can stop the violence but some people can’t stop the hate. That’s why America will never be war-free.

The only “equality” that the faith gives is that under the sword and the warlord who preaches it.

If you want to look at threats of violence look at your own American history. You’ve bombed over 35 countries since the second world war. You have more military bases in foreign countries than any other country in the world. It’s called an Imperial power of aggression.

Norman, Baz IS a Muslim. Other than that, I agree.

Muslims are primitives. Their chief military strategist, Mo, was a gifted satan worshipper, who happened to be given useful military doctrine. It started to fail when western science became dominant. Nowadays, it would have been gone if it had not adapted.

Islam is easy to destroy, but good people have to see why this is necessary.

BTW, I think it’s great that Muslims have a voice here. We can study them, watching how even an innocent-seeming Muselman will sooner or later show his maniacal hatred for all that is good.

Thinking back on it, the US should have depopulated Afghanistan, destroying every mosque in the process. It woundn’t have been tough with neutron bombs and precision weapons. Naturally, all food shipments would be destroyed.

This would have halted Islam in its tracks. Indeed, who would have thought that the US would NOT have used some WMD when DC and NYC were attacked?

As for Shahid being 14 years old, it fits in with what I observed about the younger Muslim generation being more extreme and intolerant than their parents.

They may study in our schools but if they do, they don’t absorb any of the lessons about being American. They are loyal only to Islam!

Again, countries are flags of convenience to them. No matter where they are, US Muslim citizens will never really be loyal to America.

Shahid certainly won’t as he grows up.
