The Left-Wing Screeching About My Piece on the Holocaust Shooter; Tuscaloosa News’ “Fact-Checking”

By Debbie Schlussel
**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATES ****
So, I was in court representing a client (pro bono), this entire morning. (Can’t talk about the case now.)
In the meantime, the entire left-wing loon-osphere (**** UPDATE: and the ignoramus faux-conservatives at Hot Air, now citing liberals to attack me and defend Muslims ***) is in an Islamic-style rage of Danish cartoon levels over a piece I wrote yesterday on the DC Holocaust shooter, James W. Von Brunn, and how because we’ve been forced to tolerate Islamic anti-Semitism, he finally felt comfortable to attack the Jews (we know why he picked the Holocaust Museum, even though he missed a Jewish target and got a Black one).
Yup, if you tell the truth in America, the left gets upset. They prefer kumbaya candyland.

Yes, They’re Connected
My work has made the rounds, under very weak attack by Andrew Sullivan (you know, the dude who once put an ad on a gay website seeking a guy to ride him “bareback”), Islamo-apologist Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic (whose career can be summed up as, “look at me, I’m a Jew who writes about Islamic terrorists, but please love me because I also write about how Muslims are great people and Christians suck”), the usual suspects at the Daily Kos, and the like.
Goldberg uses this as an opportunity to bash White Christians, whom he says have been anti-Semitic for several hundred years. Yes, but that’s in the past, Jeffrey. Where have you been? If I go to White evangelical Christian churches today, I’ll meet lovers of Jews and Israel’s biggest supporters. On the other hand, when I’ve gone to mosques undercover, it’s like being a Hitler rally.
Christians have evolved. Muslims have regressed and devolved. Sad that a guy who covers Islamic terrorists refuses to admit this. Goldberg, as his proof that White Christians are the real fomenters of anti-Semites, goes back to 1930s America. Hmmm . . . last time I checked it was 2009, but maybe I’m wrong, and my time machine took me to the wrong year. And in 2009, White Christians in America are the best friends I have. In 2009 America, Muslims are the problem. Anyone who denies that probably is still living in 1930.
Goldberg absurdly demands I retract my column. And–strange!–the comments section on his dumb entry is “closed.” (Goldberg asks if I remember what America was like in 1930? Well, since that was 79 years ago, and Goldberg is younger than 79, how does he remember?)
When these fools attack me–if you can call their withering pap an “attack”–I know I’ve hit the target right on the bulls eye.
Still I can’t help but laugh at the Tuscaloosa News claim that I appeared, yesterday, on the Glenn Beck show, which is news to me (and Glenn Beck, I’m sure), since I’ve never been on his radio or TV show in my life.
But don’t let that get in the way of Tuscaloosa News City Editor Katherine Lee’s online temper tantrum, blaming the right for the Holocaust shooter (yes, because–as I noted yesterday–9/11 Trutherism and anti-Semitism are the property and lingua franca of the right, NOT the left? *sarcasm*). In her “Dial it Back!” online column, she apparently dialed back fact-checking and actual reporting:

Then Debbie Schlussel, on Beck’s show, blamed extremist Muslims for helping neo-Nazis engage in anti-Semitism because they worked together and were basically the same group. A point that makes little sense but went unchallenged, nonetheless. Because it helps clear up the world when you can blame someone else who doesn’t look, sound or talk like you.

Again, I’ve never ever been on Beck’s shows–radio or TV. (Unless I have a double pretending to be me.)
And they tell us that “blogs” and “websites” aren’t as reliable as the mainstream media? Hmmm . . . here’s a liberal mainstream media “journalist” who also blogs and doesn’t get anything right.
But don’t hold your breath for her to apologize or admit she lied.
None of the left will admit that, which is why, instead, I’m getting attacked by the Obama left for telling the truth.
And the truth, as I wrote yesterday, is that Islamic anti-Semitism–and the left’s constant apologism for it, imploring us to be “tolerant” of it–set the tone and the comfort level to make yesterday’s Holocaust Museum shooting.
Sorry, lefties, facts are stubborn things. Katherine Lee, I know for you that facts are especially “malleable.”
**** UPDATE: Contact Katherine Lee (e-mail: katherine.lee@tuscaloosanews.com or phone: 205-722-0202) and ask her where she got her journalism degree. Then, tell her to sue the school for malpractice.

Hilarious! These people are not worth wasting time on. They can’t present a cogent rebuttal if their lives depended on it and they can’t deal with the fact Islam is the Communism of our time. Just like they couldn’t deal with Communism when it was a threat. Go ahead guys and keep attacking Debbie; it won’t change anything and she’ll always be right about Islam!

I read somewhere that this wacko was also anti-Christian because he thought Christianity was part of a Jewish conspiracy. If true, someone should tell Goldberg.

Rick on June 11, 2009 at 2:34 pm

So a third party can ?set the tone and the comfort level to make yesterday’s Holocaust Museum shooting??
I?ll remember that on the day that Thee Bruno, ScottyDog, or Californiascreaming go over the edge.
(Von Brunn had a near 30-year history of being a nutcase, Debbie.)
[M: REALLY? WERE YOU SAYING THIS ABOUT THE GUY WHO SHOT DR. TILLER? OR WERE YOU BLAMING THAT ON PRO-LIFERS AND THE RIGHT? ALL ANTI-SEMITES ARE NUTCASES, RIGHT? NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM–MUSLIM OR NOT–HAS HEARD THE ANTI-SEMITIC RHETORIC OF THE MUSLIMS? HILARIOUS. AND OBLIVIOUS. DS]

You know you’re on to the truth when the lib’s start screeching.
Or you find yourself in one of their “dream sequences.”

SamAdams on June 11, 2009 at 2:52 pm

You don’t have to go back to 1930, Debbie. The ADL reports that anti-semitic attacks occurred more often in 2000 than in 2008. And attacks in 2008 are down almost 30% from a high in 1994. If post 9/11 tolerance for Muslims and their anti-semitism is causing a rash of anti-semitic violence, wouldn’t you expect the 2000 numbers to be LOWER than the 2008 numbers?
Facts are stubborn things, Debbie, and you don’t get to make up your own.

Greg on June 11, 2009 at 3:16 pm

Agree with SamAdams above, you know you have hit the nail on the head and that it is obviously true when liberals start screeching and hyperventilating (or maybe they are always doing some of that).

Middleman, your posts are weak. Every time you have retorted against one of my comments, I have crushed it. Guys like you are afraid to live in America. You want state sponsored control of people. You want the “Fairness Doctrine”, Hate Crime Legislation, Gun Control. It was all those Christians that went on the beaches of Normandy to fight against NAZI aggression. All those buried with crosses in Normandy to save our nation. To save our freedoms. “Those Christians” who believed in sacrifice (love for one another) because Jesus lived through sacrifice. So maybe if Christians didn’t believe in sacrifice (sacrificing of their lives) we wouldn’t be worrying about yesterday’s shooting because it would already be a NAZI nation.

Luke: The 2 options are not mutually exclusive, rather, they are one and the same.
The inherent conflict centers around Abraham’s two sons, Isaac and Ishmael, and which one God has a covenant with. If the Jews flourish in Israel, that is proof that God’s covenant is with them. To Muslims, this cannot be allowed to stand.

Glad to hear you’ve never been on Glenn Beck’s show. Good on ya!

From DS- “NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM–MUSLIM OR NOT–HAS HEARD THE ANTI-SEMITIC RHETORIC OF THE MUSLIMS? HILARIOUS. AND OBLIVIOUS. DS”
What’s even worse than this, Debbie, is the insidious nature of the “tolerant” left, in turning a blind, politically-correct eye to this phenomenon. The disingenuity, ambiguity and outright mental contortions that the overly liberal mind can engage in, is frightening when you think about it.
It goes beyond simple moral equivocation or intellectual dishonety. The double standard employed by the left in akin to the Orwellian principle of being able to hold two diametrically opposed views as both being the truth- guided at the moment only by the application of ideology.
It’s this ability that even allows liberal Jews to vote and act against their own self-preservation. Clarity and even-handedness are not attributes easily found on the far left of American life or even in the world at large.
Chistianity has not been even remotely kind to the Jewish people in the past, but it has become greatly enlightened to where I beleive that people who genuinely are Christians in belief and practice are horrified by anti-semitism, those who both embrace it in principle and even more so in its practice. Anti-semitism is “where it begins”. Remember the phrase “First they came for the Jews..”.
The agnostic/atheist left may be comfortable in ignoring the Islamic mandate to kill all infidels- especially Jews and Christians, but anyone who who has not checked their conscience into a locker at Grand Liberal Station while awaiting the train, knows what kind of “cargo” the rolling stock carried 70 years or so ago. As the sign in the visitor center at Auschwitz says – “NEVER AGAIN!”. When we forget what happened there, and disbelieve that there are those in this world with the will and ability to do it again, we all are doomed.
There will always be individual nutcases. The problem is when they start to unify, be it under a religion, an ideology, or worse- a political system. God gave us both reason and free will. I fear that under the tutelage of the left, both of those gifts from the Almighty are disappearing rapidly in America.

okay I understand the HotAir thing now.

Actually, it was Michelle Malkin that was on Glenn Beck yesterday.
Eh, her last name sounds Jewish. It’s all the same.

As for Von Brunn disliking Christianity, there is ths post reprinted in the Free Republic: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2269560/posts

It should not really be news that Neo-Nazis have been friendly with Islamists. Holocaust deniers, such as Robert Faurisson, Roger Garaudy, and David Irving have been lionized in the Islamic world. So, it is really hard to fathom that some cannot see a connnection between National Socialists and Islamists. This is not hidden knowledge.
Here is an example of the alliance: http://www.meforum.org/pipes/1431/canadian-islamists-host-a-neo-nazi

Frankly, Jews were better off in the United States in 1930 than they would have been in Germany in 1933. There was anti-Semetism and discrimination, but what happened here at that time was in no way comparable to the Nuremburg Laws or Kristallnacht in Germany. Such a comparison is entirely invalid. Jonah Goldberg is entirely off the wall with his comparison. I would expect such nonsense from Noam Chomsky or Howard Zinn, but not a mainstream conservative.

Worry01 on June 12, 2009 at 12:59 am

While the number of “hate” crimes against Jews was lower (as reported in FBI Statistics) in 2000 than last year, that number of reported “hate” crimes against Jews has been going back up…
http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/ucr.htm#hate
The pervasive, permissive anti-Israel atmosphere that has been hyped by everything from so-called “main stream” media (i.e. BBC, The Guardian, NY Times, LA Times, NPR) to universities (both by “Professors” ala Columbia’s Said chair and others as well as “student groups” holding anti-Israel protests, which often become violent and don’t even try to hide the anti-Jew feelings- “go back to the ovens”…. ) certainly doesn’t help any. It can be (as Debbie is attempted) logically be argued that this atmosphere of “tolerance” for anti-Israel and anti-Jewish behavior does indeed embolden and enable haters to continue such behavior and indeed escalate to new heights (viz-a-viz “Death to Juice” type posters and commenters in New York City).
http://www.zombietime.com/hall_of_shame/
Can anyone provide any links to any photos or videos of any pro-Israel/Pro-Jewish rally (or any event) where anti-Islam signs and rhetoric of an EQUAL LEVEL were flying (i.e. signs stating “Behead those who insult Judaism” or “Death to Hoodlums”)- any behavior where participants openly called for the deaths of muslims and destruction of islamic countries?
