The Taki Mrabet Olympic Hoax: When Anti-Israel Loons Can’t Find Anti-Israel Stories, They Make ‘Em Up

By Debbie Schlussel

Beginning on Sunday, a number of readers and some haters sent me the photo, below, which has been posted and made its way around the internet, congratulating “Taqi Murabit,” a Tunisian swimmer for refusing to compete against an Israeli. It was posted, among other places, on “Australians For Palestine,” a site that urges boycotts against Israel, and many Muslims and non-Muslim Jew-haters have been tweeting congratulations to “Murabit.” But not only is the story about Taki Mrabet (the correct spelling) a hoax, Mrabet was disqualified in the first heat of his Olympic swimming event.

This is a Muslim hoax . . .

Israeli Swimmer and IDF Sgt. Gal Nevo . . .

And, yes, he did swim against Israeli Gal Nevo, who is not in the Israeli Air Force, but serves in the IDF as a sergeant in a computer service unit. He is one of six Israeli soldiers who were given a two week vacation from their duties so they could compete on the Israeli Olympic Team. Yes, these people aren’t the courageous Jew-haters that others would have us believe, who drop out in the name of not losing to the Jews (which doesn’t exactly show courage, but, rather, a desire not to be embarrassed by the JOOOOS). They’re just bad swimmers who failed. So sad, too bad. Oh, and by the way, the guy in the photo is NOT even Taki Mrabet. It’s a photo of Oussama Mellouli, a 2008 Olympic gold medalist from Tunisia, who’d previously tested positive to using banned substances and finally copped to it. And by the way, he did not take any stand against Israeli athletes, either.

So much for the accuracy and veracity of Jew-haters. But, then, that’s older than blood libels and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. These are, after all, the same mob of co-religionist conspiracy theorists who still claim that Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden are alive and hanging out in Hawaii (or some other non-72-virginal paradise) on the U.S. dime and that Jews did 9/11.

Debbie,

Like I wrote you this morning about Saudi hijab incident – at the Sharia Olympics, Muslims not only demand special treatment – they can’t play by the rules every one else does.

And when they fail at doing so – they lie about it.

Like affirmative action for Muslims will help them succeed anywhere.

They will never be able to compete on equal terms with Israel and that’s why they hate the Jews and Israel.

Islam – the religion of life’s losers, liars and extremists.

This is not the first nor last time we’ll hear about this kinda stuff at the present Sharia Olympics or at the Olympics of the future.

NormanF on July 31, 2012 at 3:40 pm

This is so bizarre that you couldn’t make it up!

And…. I bet they are offended when the light of truth shines on them.

But, aren’t muzzies ALWAYS OFFENDED ABOUT SOMETHING?

When is the last time a muzzie wasn’t offended about something?

As Goes... on July 31, 2012 at 5:54 pm

Yes, it should surprise no one that the IOC and the Saudis have reached an “understanding” that will allow their female judoku to compete with “modest” headgear. Regulations for everyone, but special treatment for a few.

Raymond in DC on July 31, 2012 at 3:46 pm

    Raymond,

Like religious Jewish and Christian women aren’t modest? But you don’t see them going around demanding special treatment because of their faith.

That’s the difference with Islam – it finds the rules of Western society not to its taste.

NormanF on July 31, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Well actually, Norman, remember the story about the Jewish supposedly Orthodox basketball player who got SPECIAL permission to wear a long sleeved tee under her jersey at the NCAA last year? She had been doing it at school with no problem but for the Nationals she had to make an issue to be allowed to do it. Most TRULY Orthodox women would refrain from competition because modesty isn’t just about how much of you is covered or not, it’s about making a spectacle of yourself and acting without discretion. But the valid point here isn’t that it’s a modesty issue so much as a statement of Muslima-ness. In their hands, it becomes a political issue, not a religious one.

Interesting take, perhaps a bit extreme. Much of the Mrabet talk was speculation. From what I’ve heard from people who saw the event, he was clearly in the pool at the time, meaning he competed. There’s really no need for this kind of inflammatory rhetoric though. Especially if your trying to condemn what you see as extremist behavior. Additionally, there is a factual error in your post: Oussama Mellouli IS competing in this years Olympic Games; he simply withdrew from his first qualified event (which is likely to be his weakest) at the suggestion of his doctor. Mellouli will compete in the 1500m Freestyle and 10km Open Water Marathon events.

MrDevilBunny on July 31, 2012 at 4:17 pm

Where did Debbie say he was not in the pool? This is a quote from her post: “But not only is the story about Taki Mrabet (the correct spelling) a hoax, Mrabet was disqualified in the first heat of his Olympic swimming event. ”

Do Bunnies have reading comprehension problems?

Also, what is not extreme about claims congratulations about an anti-semitic act that was in no way factual?

Here is your other friend in all of his glory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oussama_Mellouli#Positive_drug_test

If your friends wish to make such claims about Taki, they will be called out on it. If you are worried about incindiary rhetoric, talk to your friends about spreadng rumors. I doubt that you will.

“Interesting take, perhaps a bit extreme.”
DS is the extreme one when outright devil-worshippers and Islam panderers don’t even get the story proper BUT then take the time to congratulate an anti-Jew non event? That’s real cute. What is really extreme is these Jew-haters always treating Jews as if they are vermin when the Moooooooslims themselves are indeed the devilish vermin. And the IOC’s pandering to these dirty derelicts is enough to make me not watch the Olympics…an event I used to love years ago. It’s ok to let a Saudi woman wear her hijab in Judo and then cater to a Lebanese teams anti-semitism but you think DS is being a bit extreme? Welcome to ass-backwards 2012! All for the Moooooslims all the time!

And shame on those Australians! Shame on them! “palestinian” supporters are trash supporters!

You added a correction regarding Oussama Mellouli, but I noticed you did not mention how he had been a confessed doper in the past. Guess that was also too extreme for you to tackle too.

To me NOTHING is more extreme than the outright Jew hatred of Jew haters of the Arab and jihadi supporting ilk but strangely you never hear how EXTREME that is. Only the evil Jooooooooos and how you want to temper their speech.

Skunky on July 31, 2012 at 5:21 pm

    Hey, MrDevilBunny,

    I have a suggestion.

Why don’t you get your head out of your ass?

Why are you defending a LOSER WHO INSTEAD OF MANNING UP TO LOSING CLAIMED HE WITHDREW?

He didn’t withdraw, muzzie. He failed to qualify…

As Goes... on July 31, 2012 at 6:05 pm

i think these guys that call themselves athletes and then will not compete next to an Israeli are just cowards and should be looked at as such.

on the same token why belittle the two mentioned swimmers who did compete as bad swimmers and failures? making it to the olympics is hardly a failure. be the same as calling the Israeli swimmers failures because they didn’t metal

tim on July 31, 2012 at 4:35 pm

    tim,

Do any of you muzzies actually hold down a job? Or, are you paid to spread propaganda?

    That’s what I thought.

We are wiping up the floor with this pathetic piece of humanity because he LIED. You muzzies lie when the truth will do…

As Goes... on July 31, 2012 at 6:08 pm

The point is Israeli athletes aren’t demanding special treatment and when Jews lose they don’t whine about it.

Islamic savages can’t adapt to civilization. Yet the IOC, like I pointed out to Debbie, panders to them but thinks an Israeli request for a moment of official silence is “too political.”

Like a humane gesture is bending the rules. But don’t hold your breath waiting for the IOC to ever honor the 1972 Israeli Olympians – will never happen. Even Alex Gilady so much as confirmed it.

NormanF on July 31, 2012 at 4:58 pm

Even the made up news is biased.

P. Aaron on July 31, 2012 at 5:11 pm

as goes, first of im an irish lapsed catholic born in jersey, not that that makes a difference i was just making a point, what propaganda am i spreading moron? why act like a 7th grader? some people really shoot your mouths off the minute they are faced with a legitimate question, shows your intelligence, what a dumb remark

Tim on July 31, 2012 at 8:59 pm

    tim,

    You’re full of crap.

It won’t work here. The failure lied about his failure, just like you do.

As Goes... on August 1, 2012 at 5:03 pm

Whatever you say, think i;m a “muzzie” for all i care, i dont comment here often and I.m to much of an adult to engage in nonsense with you

Tim on August 1, 2012 at 7:44 pm

Debbie-lah can you please update us on the performance of all halachically Jewish Olympians? BTW I heard that Su Pa Ju from N. Korea is only half Jewish.

A1 on July 31, 2012 at 9:39 pm

A1-la, I heard you were a non-Jew posing as a Jew. Any Jew with all your alleged dreidels and mezuzahs would know that one cannot be half Jewish.

Gal Nevo is HOT HOT HOT

Kyra Nelson on July 31, 2012 at 11:28 pm

Hey Debb,
Hope you are not well.

Sorry for off topic, but Poland still hate you.

With no regards,
Adam

Adam on August 1, 2012 at 7:33 am

Adam, do you think that your childish posts reflect well on Poland or yourself? Are you not a bit old for tantrums? If you are Poland, it is a sad heap indeed.

    Worry01 on August 1, 2012 at 8:55 am

    Adam, skzion still hate pollak.

skzion on August 1, 2012 at 12:02 pm

I’m still trying to figure out what Debbie gets out of A1’s posts. I understand her wanting to expose polack stupidity and hatred but there’s no excuse for A1 and his corn porn.

Italkit on August 1, 2012 at 12:53 pm

Just a question, which I don’t expect to be answered:

What do many of you do all day? Stay on this site and write posts? I’m curious.

Right now, I am out of work and using the net in the middle of the day in order to look to find a new job and/or see what options there are for me to create a business on my own. What are all you doing right now? It seems as though many of you have all day and night to post. Or is this your life?

me personally , I wouldn’t agree with him, not because of any reason only because that he now has given Arab haters a reason to accuse them of being racists,
