The Palins’ Phony “Pro-Abstinence” Message: Be a Baby Mama, Get on the Cover of People (& a Tacky 8-Page Spread)
By Debbie Schlussel
I gotta hand it to the phony Palin family. First, they tell us how they’re against teen sex and that their pregnant 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is gonna marry the baby daddy, Levi Johnston. After the McCain-Palin ticket gets trounced, that BS blows up. Then, Bristol Palin tells FOX News that promoting abstinence doesn’t work. And three months later, this physical and ideological ho turns on a dime, becoming a paid “abstinence ambassador” for the far-left Candies Foundation.
“Abstinence Ambassador”: Screw as I Say, Not as I Do . . . All the Way to the People Cover
And she has a heck of a way of promoting abstinence and decrying single motherhood. Look at me, I’m on the cover of People because I’m a baby mama (and got paid gazillions to do it). But don’t you try this as home. Because if you do, you might get an 8-page gushing spread and oodles of fame. Yeah, that’s the message to give teen girls obsessed with fame, who’ll do anything to get it. And Ma (Sarah Palin) and Pa Palin are also posing aplenty in this 8-page advertisement for, “Look how cool it is have a kid out of wedlock.” Oh, and to all those blind Palinmessiah worshippers who claimed I was lying when I said the Palins were negotiating with People magazine to sell them exclusive photos, your apology is NOT accepted. If Levi Palin Johnston were smart (and he’s even less so than the Palins, based on what we’ve seen), he’d get a lawyer pronto, sue for custody and for child support from those hundreds of thousands of dollars Bristol collected for this very tacky People spread.
Bristol Palin is on the cover for one reason: the “feat” of having teen sex and becoming a baby mama. And that’s hardly an achievement to celebrate of glamorize on the cover of a celeb magazine and and an eight-page spread of glamor shots. If it were, why aren’t Shaniqua and Lakisha from the ghetto on the cover? They’ve “achieved” just like Bristol Palin. But they don’t have blind conservatives doing a 180 on them and gushing over it.
As I’ve already noted recently on this site, 40% of American kids are now born to single mothers, and it’s getting worse. And America is #1 in the percentage of babies born to single mothers without a stable relationship with a man. Bristol Palin, whose baby is among that 40%, is NOT part of the solution. She is part of the problem. And parading and glorifying it on the cover of a magazine only makes it worse.
Remember the good old days when conservatives (like Dan Quayle) didn’t promote single motherhood?
Wake up. The Palins are phonies. At least the single mothers in Hollywood are honest about what they believe in and promote.
Is the reference to Levi “Palin” intentional or a joke? Either way, you are right on Debbie, and I agree.
It’s time to stop honoring what we say we are trying to prevent.
The upshot truly is that attention starved teens will take the clue more from the “do as I DO, more than do as I say.” Tragically, this is lost on those do-gooders who are paving the way to hell with their “good intentions.”
G-d save us from these idiots who are trying to do good in this ignorant fashion.
