“Fair & Balanced” Joke: FOX News “Journalist” Joins Blago as Reality Show Contestant

By Debbie Schlussel
The buzz around the next installment of the dumb reality show, “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here,” is that deposed, indicted Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich will be a contestant.
But that’s not what struck me. What struck me is that a sensationalistic, talentless hack who continues to be employed by FOX News–Geraldo Rivera, the Frito Bandito of “journalism”–will be a contestant.
Was there no-one at FOX News who had the guts to say no to Geraldo–the pro-Palestinian, pro-illegal alien weirdo? Was there no-one at News Corp who said, “No, Jerry Rivers, despite bimbo and himbo talk show hosts and the loofah king (Bill O’Reilly), we’re actually trying to appear like a respectable news outlet, and you can’t do a reality show and continue to ‘report’ on our network”?

No, there wasn’t. And that’s why, despite top ratings on Cable News, people really don’t take FOX News seriously as a journalism outfit. It’s more like a bimbo-fest that milks and patronizes conservatives, but doesn’t really mean it.

I still remember when Geraldo claimed to be a “Zionist” and a “lifelong supporter of Israel”, and then proceeded, for all intents and purposes, to accuse Israel of genocide.

Victor Davis Hanson’s recent critique of Fox News is worth reading:
http://pajamasmedia.com/victordavishanson/the-postnational-postmodern-post-everything-presidential-trip/
“Footnote. The once insightful Fox News is rapidly devolving into a sort of entertainment circus. That is a tragedy, since the network for years has done wonders in offering an antithesis to the supposedly non-biased biased network news. Each news show now interviews hosts from the other Fox news hours (To save money? Free publicity?). Hawking books (written in short, breezy style, without much analysis) is done on the air rather than as commercials. Anchors show old clips of themselves and invite in analysts to praise their on-air interviews (are they going to be invited back if critical?). The hosts now constantly blare out their own ratings. Murder and rapine often headline the news in the manner of the local 6PM affiliates. Quiz shows are part of the news; female analysts are almost always either young or blond or usually both, rather than simply insightful. The sober and judicious Brit Humeís presence is missed. Take away a few top-notch correspondents, and Charles Krauthammerís sagacity and depth of thinking, and there is increasingly not a lot there. (but I like Neil Cavutoís business hour and Dennis Millerís op-eds) All in all, an unfortunate development, since there is no disinterested counterpart to a 60 Minutes or NBC News, and for years Fox offered an invaluable alternative in airing real news deliberately ignored by the mainstream networks.”

Can’t believe he gets the exposure and credibility he gets. Hope he gets his nose broke again. I may be a cynic but isn’t it strange that Mr. Publicity Whore has a son joining the merchant marines at a time of escalating piracy on the high seas? What better way to get a first hand story of drama on the high seas than have your own SON out there as a correspondent? The kid may be looking at it as a way to get famous quick as well. Problem with that is he’s placed in harms way with no weapons to defend his self.

Fox News claims to be “fair and balanced” and I think by having “The Mustache” Geraldo Rivera and some schmucks like “Owl Eyes” Shepard Smith and “Phone Sex” Bill O’Reilly, Fox News managed to fool the so-called “conservatives” and thus having high ratings, just like Hussein fooled his stupid voters.
One thing we should always keep in mind:
The majority of the American people are some of the dumbest people on earth.

Debbie – No one sent you the memo that Blago took all of Al Capone’s stuff before Geraldo got into the vault? That is what he is after.
Seriously, is the judge actually going to let Blago leave the country to do this?

Why would anyone want to be on that piece of trzsh show. I watch FoxNews only because they do not kiss up to obama, but there are somethings they could improve on-such as less gossipy chit-chat on the moring shows, and less attention paid to tabloid trash type stories

The only really reprehensible aspect of Fox News is Rivera. I actually enjoy the silliness of Fox & Friends while getting ready for work although some of the tabloid excess causes me to switch to HGTV at times. I only began watching Fox News during the Iraq War since CNN and the networks were telling stories that conflicted with what I was hearing from friends and relatives serving there. I discovered Fox had hired Geraldo when he mindlessly divulged tactical military information on air and was subsequently un-imbedded with the military. How utterly humiliating for the network.

In a nutshell, Geraldo Rivera SUCKS…

Geraldo pushes amnesty for illegals at every turn. I hate hypocrite O’Reilly too (how many million did it take to shut up his bimbo snitch?)-
-but I did appreciate his feisty debate once with Geraldo –it got so noisy they almost came to blows. Geraldo was calling O’Reilly a racist for his calling attention to an illegal alien who got drunk and killed someone in a car accident, as I recall.
Hey, maybe Geraldo and Blago will make a go of it on the island? (or wherever they will meet up–what a match)
