Gay Judge in Miss USA Contest Calls Miss California “Dumb Bitch” Over Gay Marriage Answer
By Debbie Schlussel
**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****
You may or may not be familiar with “Perez Hilton” (real name: Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr.), the gay, Cuban-American blogger who makes hundreds of thousands by scribbling comments over celebrity pics (and gushing over the Obama family).
He was a judge in Donald Trump’s “Miss USA” bimbo-fest, last night and is upset over Miss California’s answer to his gay marriage question. I’ll admit, she was clueless. (“Opposite Marriage”?) First she lauded her claim that in America people have the right to choose whether they want to have a gay marriage, which is really only true in a few states. Then, she claimed she only supports straight marriage in her family. It was a dumb answer. But Perez Hilton clearly was upset that she didn’t abide by his pro-marriage orthodoxy. Yup, you’ll never win this stupid bimbo-fest if you give a conservative answer to anything. But, then, a conservative wouldn’t be in this stupid “contest.”
First, watch the video of the bimbo eruption, er . . . answer of Miss California on the “Miss USA” contest. Then, watch the video of Perez Hilton’s response.
**** UPDATE: Reader Steve passes along an e-mail message he sent to Perez Hilton, after watching the above vidoes, an excerpt of which follows.
To: perez@perezhilton.com
I heard no boos at all when Miss California gave a truthful and honest answer to your question, obviously meant to put her on the spot and make your political point. . . . Beauty pageants are no place for homosexual flaunting.
I’ve never been a fan of these pageants and if not for your post, I wouldn’t have even known about it.
While the girl struggled with her answer, the real issue is what the purpose of the question and the attitude of the questioner reveals about the state of intellectual life and free speech in America.
Clearly, Perez Hilton wouldn’t have been happy if she gave an extremely well reasoned and articulated answer that didn’t match his political views. He is using his role as a judge to screen out anyone who commits the “thought crime” of not holding the appropriate views. He then justifies this McCarthyism by saying that she is alienating people and not a unifying person, as if that is the purpose of all political thought. Sorry, but his incident is, in its own way, symbolic of the Obama age.
