Actually, this crap has been going on at defense contractors for years. Let’s see we have employee resource groups (ERG) at my company (RAYTHEON) based on race, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. Even women have an ERG, but men are not allowed to. But, hey, not allowed to have a “white” ERG because whites “have not been historically subjected to employment discrimination”. Also, can’t have a Jewish ERG, even though Jews HAVE been historically subjected to employment discrimination. When one tries to explain to HR that Jews are not just a religion but a nationality, the ignoramuses have a blank look.

Each month celebrates a different “victimized” group. June happens to be…GLBTA month here at Raytheon, so of course, there is activities and events to shove preversion in your face. Last month was Jewish Heritage month, sorry, Raytheon didn’t say a word about that.

Think belonging to one of these groups gets you a better shot at a job? Yep, but try proving it. Members of these specially protected groups have quickly learned to play the “race” card when anyone challenges their skills or intelligence. Raytheon clearly hires a specific number of “minorities” in order to show what a good corporate citizen they in order to recieve fat government contracts. The whole industry is lousy with this crap. Can’t wait to retire from it.

Wow, lots of grammar mistakes. I was writing fast. Let me clarify that it is not required to join an ERG, its voluntary. ERGs usually sponsor the speakers for the aggrieved group that is being celebrated during the month. Anyone can join an ERG, you don’t have to be of the specific “victimized” group. However, their meetings focus on multi-culti BS and diversity, and how to get people to “like” them. Why this is at work and BEING PAID FOR BY YOUR TAX DOLLARS is pathetic.

It is indeed entirely unrelated to the job, and forces people to get excited about people over their sexual activity and propensity to engage in exhibitionsism. If we have to honor the castrated Simpson based upon its sexual activity, why not the part-time stripper or weekend escort who works for the agency? Should a heterosexual male or female not get their time in the sun also?

I would consider such gatherings to be sexual harassment, and the disparagement of my natural gender. Would anyone accept an employee who decided to become Black by putting on blackface,wearing weird Negro getups, and talking like Uncle Remus? When a person with a new gender is putting themselves forward in this way, that is what is happening. As an employee, I am not only asked to tolerate, but to celebrate the unreality of of Simpson’s pseudo-gender change. What does this reeducation camp atmosphere do to enhance the operation of DHS? Frankly, this is very evil stuff.

Disclaimer: I worked in ICE for 5 years; my cousin is a current ICE agent. Not sure of the validity of a couple of points in this scenario. First, the pay for Gibson. SES pay is capped at $179,700 and cannot exceed the pay of any member of Congress. So the $200K+ figure is suspect. Second, being appointed SAC without experience. This requires an SES selection process closely controlled by OPM. The ECQs – Executive Core Qualifications – would have to show how the individual is the best candidate for the position. These ECQs are reviewed and approved or rejected by OPM. I agree with just about everything else in this story – Morton is a clown. But let’s not over-exaggerate the pay or appointment issue.

At Matt Cotton, it is not “decent people” you’re talking about, it’s the very people who professed to be gay/lesbian and use their positions to abuse or break the law while on the job, then claim harassment or discrimination when faced with accusations or allegations of wrongdoing by their employers.

Gay and lesbian employees would always claim harassment or discrimination after they are suspended or fired from their jobs for ACTUAL (not alleged) wrongdoings and use the gay community resources to get their jobs back. Imagine an incompetent gay employee making a big, costly mistake on the job and then get fired for it, he will claim discrimination against employer because of his sexuality and not for what he did on the job.

Debbie I worked at a facility in the 90’s that had a gay mafia. I thought it was amusing and I was a short timer anyway. Also they seemed to do their jobs reaonably well even if the hirings were tainted. What happened was the head of the department was a nice, elderly lesbian. After a few years gays were the dominant employees. The same type of thing happens when a Gentile sorority lets in a pretty Jewish girl. Five years later it’s half Jewish and the Gentile girls feel oppressed.

This type of cronyism that centered around gays and their mutual friendships has long predated Napilitano I am sad to say. But, she has certainly exacerbated it. Yet ICE, like INS before, has an administrative prosecution arm in OPLA, and it for a large part is an operational rather than support entity. People like Morton, Gibson, Ragsdale and company all came from this background, so I don’t think their experience as criminal prosecutors and immigration attorneys makes them unqualified for senior agency leadership. ICE has a very broad portfolio and HSI is a major, but not the only, part of it.

The mafia that you refer to is a legacy of the old INS Chief Counsel organization. There were many gay and lesbian attorneys in in the old District Offices in NYC, DC, LA, Miami and other big cities. Naturally, working as long as I have in this agency I have become friends with some of them. Their sexuality doesn’t impact their competence, but I have been troubled by the favoritism they have shown each other. It’s one thing to have a group of friends with like interests and outlooks that you hang out with after work, it’s another to stock an office with your cronies, be they of any sort.

There certainly has been cronyism at work here, based on these old relationships that were founded on common sexuality. But let’s not pretend it is any better than the other cronyism that saw Marcy Forman stock the SAC offices and HQ with her sycophants and ass-kissers. Her favoritism extended to gay, straight, black, white, male, female, in-between…whatever. The primary requirement was absolute loyalty and obedience. The negative legacy of these more recent political appointees won’t last very long, while we’ll be dealing with the after-effects of the Marcy Forman reign of terror for years to come, because career employees don’t go away.

While it is this clutch of employees that has probably driven the DHS pride event, they are still relatively small. Ragsdale has been with ICE a while, and I think is a career employee that was here with the last administration, so he was not a crony hire influenced by Napalitano. It is just another example of how senior positions such as SACs, ADs, DADs, FODs are appointed based on their relationships rather than merit.

Comparing the Poles to the Nazis offend millions of Poles, whose ancestors defended the Polish borders and London from the Germans. Irena Sendler saved 2,500 Jewish children from extermination. ICE is a waste. The people in charge, such as Ragsdale and his cronies are a joke. I thought the last administration had bad employees and management, this group is worst. Poor Obama was trying to be politically correct, yet, he has made some of the worst hiring decisions in keeping Morton, who acts like he is deathly afraid of employees, even on the elevators and Ragsdale chief folks in ICE.
I am a life-long democrat, but will not vote for Obama because I want Morton, Ragsdale, and all those folks who are in charge, CFO, anyone in Management and administration, who are SES’s removed and sent on their way home.

This happens at every federal agency. I work at another federal agency, and it’s LGBT month here – sponsored events which I have to allow my employees to attend during work hours, huge posters everywhere, postings on the work Intranet, etc. Ridiculous and a waste of time and resources. I have no desire to abrogate the rights of gay people, but don’t see why government time and money has to be spent on promoting this lifestyle at work.
