WTF?! Obama Gives Temporary Protected Status to All Syrian Illegal Aliens in US

By Debbie Schlussel

Barack Obama and Janet Napolitano just gave thousands of Syrian Muslims–all of them either sympathizers with Hezbollah or the Muslim Brotherhood–permission to stay in the United States forever.  Yup, even illegal alien Syrian Muslims.  He granted all of them TPS–Temporary Protected Status, so they cannot be deported or even arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for being here illegally.  Behind the successful effort to get Obama to approve this absurd golden ticket to extremist Syrians to remain in our midst, is the pro-HAMAS/Hezbollah ADC (American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee) and Dr. Yahya Basha.

>Ghost of Bin Laden Has the Last Laugh: Obama’s Letting Thousands of Their Supporters Become U.S. Citizens . . .

obamasmiling.jpgdeptjihadistsecurity.jpg

(Jihadist Security Artwork by Fred Taub/Boycott Watch)

Basha, a Syrian multi-millionaire immigrant and extremist Muslim, is a HAMASCAIR activist who previously headed the American Muslim Council, which was shut down for HAMAS fundraising, martyr funding, and because Basha’s hand-picked executive director was paying homicide bombers and plotting assassinations of the Saudi King on behalf of Qaddafi.  Basha recently settled a lawsuit after firing a lawyer he hired because he discovered she was Jewish and married (two no-nos for women under Islam). Basha’s “Basha Diagnostics” business is a major advertiser in Detroit media and has influenced TV and radio stations to pander to Muslims if they want to continue to receive his dollars.  He was cited by the FDA for his shoddy mammograms and faulty equipment.  Yup, we need more Syrians in the mold of Yahya Basha in our midst. Oh, and he’s not even a Democrat.  His offices are regularly used by the dhimmis in Michigan’s Oakland County Republican Party and will probably be Romney’s campaign headquarters for the November election for the county.

Remember all the Haitian aliens in the U.S., to whom Barack Obama and Janet Napolitano granted TPS after the Haitian earthquake?  Most of them are still here, many of them trying to get green cards and citizenship.  And a good number of those are succeeding.  Remember all the Libyan aliens to whom Obama and Napolitano gave TPS, last year?  Well, guess what?  They, too, are still here, trying to get green cards and citizenship.  And a good number of them are succeeding, too.  Muammar Qaddafi is long gone.  And, yet, they are still here, despite the fact that we don’t really know much about them and their activities in Libya before they came here (and have no way of finding out).  Many of them are extremists who sympathize with the Al-Qaeda Muslims who’ve since taken over Libya.  Others were Qaddafi sympathizers, not much better.

And, now, we must add to this the Syrian Shi’ite supporters of Assad and Hezbollah and the Syrian Sunni supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood, HAMAS, and Al-Qaeda in our midst.  Yup, they get to stay here, likely forever.  We simply never end up sending back anyone to whom we grant TPS, no matter how much of a national security risk they pose.  And all of these Syrians are able to apply for asylum and remain in the U.S., per Obama policy, until they finish gaming the system–a process that can take years and even over a decade.

The Syrians in our midst–many of them here illegally–will now be untouchable by ICE (which isn’t arresting illegal aliens, anyway) for at least 18 months on the books.  But, as we know, in each case in which the U.S. has granted TPS for 18 months, the aliens got to stay forever.  Look for that to happen with the Syrians.

And to add insult to injury:  these people, as with the Libyans and others who were granted TPS by Obama, will be able to work without restrictions in the U.S.–taking jobs from U.S. citizens.  ‘Cuz, hey, they need to make money.  And who cares about Americans who need to make money?  Not Obama.  That’s for sure.

Just what we need: more Muslims who support Islamic terrorist groups and come from the country that proudly served as the host for all of those groups, as well as Nazi war criminals and Munich Olympic Massacre terrorists.

And more of them taking jobs from out-of-work Americans.

All hail the Arab Spring! All hail it’s American headquarters: the Department of Homeland Security.

As if ICE was going to deport them anyway? This TPS debacle started with the El Salvadorans and Guatemalans back in the mid eighties and they still haven’t cleaned that mess up. Now they’re opening the door for these dirtbags. DS is spot on….under TPS there’s no way to deport/exclude them. These clowns can commit nefarious crimes and other malfeasance and it would take an act of congress to remove them (and we all know how congress operates; have to get them out from their hoodies first).

This country has its priorities in the crapper…

IceNoMore on March 29, 2012 at 5:07 pm

Muslim immigrants are politically untouchable. I bet Debbie can’t find a single case of one of them ICE has deported in the last decade. Obama’s move simply makes de jure what every one implicitly knew to be true.

Don’t imagine though things will change much under an Etchy Sketchy Romney Administration.

NormanF on March 29, 2012 at 5:14 pm

Of course things won’t change under Romney, as if he had a chance to win the election, anyway. They are all scum that have never had a real job other than going around begging you and me for money so they can keep their fake job in Washington doing nothing. When you went to Harvard, and have less real-world experience than the kid that scoops dog shit at my house, it is no big surprise when you make absurd decisions like this that are the polar opposite of all reason, logic, and rational thought.

Hopewell on March 29, 2012 at 5:38 pm

They have an agenda. Muslims like Obama hate you and I and all that America stands for. Truth, Justice and the American way are based on Godly laws for a Godly people. How else could America overcome the Nazi’s and the Japanese that threatened the entire world at one point. The simple solution is to reverse Roe V Wade and then allow prayer in Jesus name anywhere in America at anytime. Morals do not come out of a jar – they must be based on something moral like the Bible and God. You can poo poo me but the term ‘ObamaNation’ is not lost on me.

gary on April 4, 2012 at 12:21 am

In 2012 NO politician is hardcore on illegal immigration and securing our borders. It’s beyond disgusting.

Only one I can even ever think of was Tancredo.

How sad. If Obama-Putin loses in November, we still have so much work to do.

Skunky on March 29, 2012 at 5:39 pm

If I recall, Tancredo was also sound on Israel, too. And taxes, etc. Sigh.

    Occam's Tool on March 30, 2012 at 11:46 am

Skunky, it was a shame that Tancredo lost, and later disappeared into oblivion. He was the only one who got it on Muslims, and his ‘Nuke Mecca’ solution was almost the right one.

This is absurd – if anything – all Syrians – be they Sunnis or Alawites/Shias – should be dumped in Syria and join the warring forces. And all other Jihadis in the world should be encouraged to go join them.

Infidel on March 29, 2012 at 7:36 pm

Although it’s too late for 2012, there’ a likely candidate in 2016 who REALLY gets it on both Moslems an illegal aliens: Rep. Allen West. If the GOP ever pulls its collective head out of its posterior, it would nominate true conservatives. When the voters have an actual choice, they vote for conservtives and we win. When the choice is between Democrat and Democrat Lite, we don’t.

Rick Nordstrom on March 29, 2012 at 7:48 pm

Someone mentioned Allen West. But West voted for the NDAA. So I wonder where he is coming from and he also will not touch the Birth Certificate Fraud, suspicious SSA# and so much more.

Why the media blackout on the Sheriff Arpilo investigation?

Fred on March 30, 2012 at 8:32 am

Their children will likely be eligible for free or reduced priced breakfasts/lunches at the public schools that they attend. In some schools, dinner, too. Additionally, their parents/children will likely be collecting state assistance and free medical care, all courtesy of the American taxpayer. Eligibility for such assistance, in most states, is a piece of cake, with little oversight. And, if their children are considered to have a handicap, and attend a public school, SSI for the parent(s), too. And, this is just for starters.
Unfortunately, I speak from experience with this debacle for the American taxpayer.

We in Syria whether christians or muslims do not force out daughters to do anything!!!! you are talking about taliban and alqaeda in Aghanistan… please people i beg you to open your minds and research about religions… and it is MUSLIMS not MOSLEMS like racists rednecks say it

This is an administration that cannot even say that Jersualem is the capital of Israel.

The sad thing is, Mitt Romney doesn’t know the right thing to do, either.

Barry Popik on March 30, 2012 at 2:08 am

El Salvadorians can’t be deported because of an earthquake in 2001. Whole villages of Somalians are flown here and dumped in unsuspecting mid-west towns. Then we have Haitians, Libyans, Iraqis (still from Gulf War 1), Syrians, Egyptians and any one else who has an anchor baby. How is the unemployment rate going down if they keep adding people to the pot?

Being tribe orientated these groups will take over their new home towns by overwhelming the locals at the polls. Minneapolis, Detroit, and Dearborn are just the tip of the iceberg. As their power base grows they will have even more control at a National level, see Europe now to see what we will be like in 20 years.

Understandable considering women and children may be involved and IF this was one instance and if he had not denied a simple visa to a member of the Israeli knesset and if he had not made derogatory remarks about Netenyahu and treating him disrespectfully (not serving kosher meals. Snubbing Israel on a mideast tour including Egypt.
The list goes on. But what do you expect from a Kenyan-Muslim-American, himself an illegal alien with a forged birth certificate.
Jihadists and Muslim illegals have no better friends than Barack Hussein Obama, and Hilary Clinton.

bob on March 30, 2012 at 6:13 pm

You’re denying the US, the right to exist. If it’s against your “moral authority” to defend your borders, then you have no right to defend your home from invading enemies. Why don’t you move out of the “stolen land”? Too busy leeching off the welfare system of the country you hate?

Yasmin on March 31, 2012 at 5:26 pm

hey debbie, your photo caption says: “Obama’s Letting Thousands of Their Supporters Become U.S. Citizens . . .”

there is no evidence that TPS is a pathway to citizenship. unless you can provide evidence to the contrary, your caption is a lie designed to get your ill-informed readers all riled up.

bob on March 30, 2012 at 6:19 pm

Hey Boob, I bet you also believed in the Social Security Lockbox, too.

In Massachusetts, a very top heavy state of the Democrat kind, we had Turnpike Tolls erected “just until they paid off the bonds”.

That was done in the 60s. Boob, we STILL have turnpike tolls.

Bet you believed THOSE would be eradicated once the bonds were paid off.

Projection is an ugly, ugly thing…and it’s transparent too, BOOB.

Skunky on March 30, 2012 at 10:38 pm

This is an excellent example of just how gullible people can be. This woman said the President gave TEMPORARY protected status and in the same sentence that it was permission to stay forever. Now it what classroom does “temporary” equate to forever? This is the problem with America, right now. People are too dumb to look right at something and critically discern what’s being said, and the politicians know it. The US is fast becoming one big dumb blond. So sad,

B: I’m not really blonde, but you must be. Only a dummy believes that “Temporary” Protected Status is temporary, just because the name says so. Talk about gullible (which you regularly see in the mirror). It never has been “temporary.” Never has anyone who received Temporary Protected Status been forced to leave after getting it. And never has anyone had their Temporary Protected Status lifted. We still have people who got TPS from Haiti from nearly or over a decade ago who are still here. Like I said, you’re definitely blonde. This is, in fact, a critical look at TPS, but you have your head permanently buried in the sand. You are like the morons who fall for the “fat free” ruse in foods. Here’s a tip: sometimes the name of something is a lie. Welcome to the real world. DS

Bassman on March 30, 2012 at 7:46 pm

The fact is Syrian illegals should NOT be allowed to stay in this country temporarily or permanently.

    Ever.

But in your infinite wisdom, you have made a pathetic attempt to critically discern what was actually important about this post…. and failed.

You’re not blond by any chance, are you?

The Balkanization of American continues at breakneck speed without hindrance nor questions. This is a trainwreck in the making and we all sit in watch in spellbound fascination as it unfolds. This is going to be quite bloody.

Drakken on March 30, 2012 at 9:50 pm

So Debbie, what do you think the long term goal of this is? Is Obama trying to do to the US what has already been done in Europe, namely creating quasi-Moslem communities with their own laws, police, and courts? With the invasion from the south of the border (and with them, the narco-gangs), we are indeed rapidly becoming a balkanized nation, and with it, a second or even third rate economic country, owned in large part by our ideological enemy, China. Of course, as I see it, we can stay with Obama and become a neo-socialistic nation or go with the GOP and become a neo-facist nation. How does this “movie” end in your opinion Debbie?

Paul on March 31, 2012 at 11:11 pm

Debbie, I like your list-names, kick-butt style. Question:

Are there no Syrian Christians protected by this law?

You made it sound like “ALL” Syrian immigrants are Muslims. I’m on the East side. The Arab population here is predominately Chaldean from Iran. I see new Chaldeans arrive from time to time. You certainly would not suggest we grant priveleges based on origin AND RELIGION. May the Lord bless you.

ThX in advance,
Visty

Visteo Bman on April 1, 2012 at 12:47 am

Ah, Debbie Schlussel. not sure which show made fun of your name but i remember someone did.

I bumped into your site after searching on “how to get into Syria illegally, because i am a videographer who wants to spread the word “out” of Syria’s disasterous spots, literally.

I am Syrian-American and i am a Christian. If you do read history, not all Syrians are Muslims, and the muslims are definitely not the only ones targeted in Syria, anyone who opposes the regime is targeted. and many Syrian Christians have been either dead or driven out to neighboring countries or countries who granted them temp visa’s.

If you were literate, you would know that NOONE who have been forced out is with the Shiite Hezbollah, because they support the regime.

If you were literate, you would know that Christians who have been affected by thus do not support the muslim brotherhood nor hezbollah.

most americans when they hear the word “Muslim” they start to shake and have seizures, i pitty you. We in Syria have been living together hand in hand with all different sects, and our Islam is not radical like taliban or alqaeda. We have mosques and churches right next to eachother and people dont even ask eachother “are you muslim or christian”

you are just a conservative republican Zionist supporting redneck muslim hating person.

i Hope someone invades your house and drive you out. and then when you look for “humanitarian” housing, everyone will turn you down.

Majd K. on April 1, 2012 at 4:40 am

“our Islam is not radical like taliban or alqaeda”

If you’re so read up on history, perhaps you could tell us how Islam reached Syria. I guess you as a Christian are expected to be grateful the Muslims let you live after taking your country. I hope the Umayyad mosque doesn’t represent “mosques and churches right next to eachother”, as that would mean mosques over churches.

You Syrians have been lucky enough to be ruled by a strange little Muslim sect that has many non-Islamic traditions. For that reason, mainstream Muslims are stomping their feet demanding jihad.

Debbie must be terrified of Islam, to the point she has her real name and photo on the site. I’ll be shocked if you aren’t a Muslim pretending to be Christian.

Yasmin on April 1, 2012 at 10:03 am

Ok Majd, where to start with your dopey ass, I can easily make fun of you’re name, but I’ll let that go by the wayside. First off, if you think Debbie is wrong on this issue, where the hell is you’re website or blog to atleast counter what DS is saying? Debbie Schlussel is a “blogger”, she doesn’t work for the US government nor she doesn’t work for the American media, secondly where in this article DS has ever said that all Syrians (like yourself you idiot)all Syrian folks are muslims? If you’ve read the history of you’re country, you’d notice that at the beginning of Syria, it was NOT originally a muslim state, it was originally a christian country (mainley Assyrians) before the muslims took over you’re country during the course of the Islamic-Conquest of the 7th century. And here’s you’re other quote:

“We in Syria have been living together hand in hand will all different sects, and our Islam is not radical like taliban or alqaeda. We have mosques and churches right next to eachother”

Uh-huh, are you sure by all of this or is all “propaganda” you’re recieving from muslim propagandist throughout the middle east? Far as I am concerend, christians throughout Syria are considered as “second-class” citizens, and also plenty of Syrian-Christians are “persecuted” by the islamist-muslims there, so NO both muslims and christians in you’re country DO NOT live peaceably and/or side by side! And here’s you’re hateful, anti-semitic quote:

“you are just a conservative republican Zionist supporting redneck muslim hating person.”

Thanks for exposing and showing you’re true colors of bigotry and anti-semitism, Ms. Schlussel has ZERO tolerance for jew-hating rhetoric like your’s and she also has ZERO tolerance for anyone making a threat to her, I know what you said, you that you hope someone invades where she lives and drives her out. Dumbass Majd, you’re just a leftist, Democrat neo-nazi supporting left wing redneck jew-hating person, how’s that, I counter what you said you hatemongeror. And as Yasmine said this morning to you, I won’t be surprised if you’re a muslim trying oh-so hard to be a christian, you’re rhetoric sounds similar to the asshole islamists!

I wouldnt talk about conquests when you stole this land from the native indians.

no i am a christian and can prove it with my Syrian ID. i just lived long enough in Syria to have muslim friends and neighbors that makes me want to defend them, they do represent 80% of the population afterall and most of them are moderate muslim that oppose islamic sharia law which orders of cutting arms of thieves and making non muslim pay taxes, which is bullshit, its only gods choice to punish us however he likes.

but you extremist christians just cannot believe that a christian defend mOslems, it just does not add up for you.

and please dont teach me about my own country, what is this second class citizen you speak of, you must be confused with Saudi Arabia. and persecuted? pleaase provide me a link… as a christian i havent heard of muslims persecuting a christian for being a christian in the Greater Syria at least (lebanon jordan palestine syria)

If you consider “hoping” to be a threat then go ahead and call the cops Debbie has my IP address.go ahead prosecute me for whatever i hope and wish for. Noone can take that away from me.

I dont need a blog to counter idiots like you and “DS” ill just do it right here on her own site 😉

i love jews but hate zionists. you rightists must also hate the jewish rabbi’s that oppose zionism inside israel and get beaten for it. go look for them on youtube.

Majd K. on April 1, 2012 at 5:26 pm

Ok wise guy, you don’t have to lecture me about this great country of mines, yes the white-europeans where the settlers, but also silly, did you prior to the white settlers coming here, there were Native Indians tribes that fought against eachother and committed crimes against one another, so please don’t give me the revisionist BS of “yadda yadda all Native Americans were peaceful and non-violent yadda yadda”. And I’m sorry, but most of the christians in you’re country of Syria are YES persecuted by the muslim populace there.

Another thing since you mentioned “threat” for no reason, who the hell is threatening you dumbass? You have EVERY right as an american citizen to express you’re viewpoints, etc. and that’s what you’re doing here, expressing you’re opinions, viewpoints, etc. And yes, please start you’re own blog or website so any of us go there and have a debate with a doofus like yourself, this is Debbie Schlussel’s blog, in other words, this is her house/property, and you are a visitor and guest like all of us who commented here.

And finally you also said that you love jewish people, but hate zionist, let me give you a little education since you’re not intelligent, a great man by the name of Martin Luther King Jr. said in this quote about “zionism”, “Make no mistake about it, those who consider themselves anti-zionist are indeed anti-semitic”, so you Majd are an anti-semitic jew-hating bigot. No matter how you’ll try to convince, sway and try to fool me, you are an anti-semitic that shares the same values as the commentators on “Stormfront” and “VNN fourm”, so my advise for you is to go to those websites, because they share similar values and principles as you do. And I also assume you support Iran (probably pro-Ahmadinejad & pro-Iranian islamist mullahs) should build nuclear weapons to eradicate Israel from civilization?

BTW Majd, since you asked me to provide evidence and facts about Christians being persecuted in you’re country, it proves that I’m right and I actually know what I’m talking about, I will provide you a few links to you buster about the Christian population in Syria being persecuted and here goes:

When the biggest representative of Muslims is the Muslim Brotherhood, I think it’s fair that we judge Islam by that. You and your moderate Muslim friends are obviously doing a terrible job. Why do you think that is?

Yasmin on April 2, 2012 at 12:14 pm

These morons, Obama, Neopaltino, Holder, ect. are so disloyal to the country they alledgedly lead. Fail, fail, and more failure ad infinitum. This makes me sick. How dare they force Americans to tolerate and accept and live among these whacked out, sick people. They are very, very scary individuals for just cause. However, our leaders could not care less. Tragic.

Sharon on April 2, 2012 at 4:13 pm

@ Sean yes i drifted away from the main subject, but cant she have some sympathy for those who were forced out? Syrians love Syria and they would not go out of it unless necessary and will go back when it is safe. So wont you and Debbie and Yasmin be kind enough to have those poor Syrians with TPS as a guest in your great country of USA?

I myself have been dying to go back but i am an outspoken opposition member of Syrian regime and the filthy Mafioso the Assad family and co. and legally im sure to be detained at the airport, then tortured, killed and buried in mass graves.

One more note about Obama and his affiliation with Islam, If the Israeli lobby actually had proof if his attemp to “build a muslim empire” in the USA, then he would not be president today. Sadly it is Israel who appoints American presidents not the American people, They actually picked the right person to be president after George Dubya, the Republican man who destroyed America with 9/11, Iraq and Afghanistan War.

Majd K. on April 2, 2012 at 6:11 pm

@ Yasmin if it was not for the circumstances in Syria i would invite you to visit Syria and take a look at our culture, in the summer especially those who love to travel used to come from all over Europe and USA and tour around Damascus and Aleppo mostly. Just come to the old city and see how many bars, nightclubs, liquor stores we have. too bad Christians are being persecuted and its the moslems who are enjoying the nightlife and all the forbidden alcohol. sigh and roll eyes.

Wont you please be reasonable, knowledgable, and un-ignorant about other countries and cultures? i understand you hate muslim brotherhood, jihadi’s, alqaeda, and bin-laden ish muslims. even Syrian muslims and christians hate them and would not wish them to come rule our country.

Majd K. on April 2, 2012 at 6:18 pm

Majd,

I have no doubt you have good memories of your Muslim countrymen and the feelings of fraternity between the religions and amongst the sects. However, you are being sadly naive if you don’t see that this is devolving into a sectarian civil war, one in which your Christian community will be targeted. Assad may be pandering to minority fears, but it is true. Just look next door to Egypt. The push to overthrow Mubarak was primarily led by secular and left leaning groups, and who is in charge now? The Muslim Brotherhood, which before the Arab spring was thought to represent no more than 20% of the electorate if made a legal party. Now Islamists control over 60%, how’s that working out for Egypt’s Copts?

The Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda and the Islamist crew all stand ready to fill the void once the Syrian regime collapses. Why? They have the most organized, decisive, and ruthless machinery to influence politics. Its not who is most popular, but who is most politically astute and effective. Islamist parties all through the Middle East and N Africa have proven successful at leveraging their cell based organization, grass roots campaigning, and threat of violence to get and keep power. When they’re done in Syria, you won’t even be able to recognize it. How did the Christian community fare in Iraq after the last Bathist dictator fell? Last I heard they fled to your country, then to Europe and here.

You need only look to Bosnia to see how these sectarian divides, long thought irrelvant , are very quickly inflamed. All it takes is a few kidnappings, assasinations and revenge kilings, and people who never asked who was Serb, Croat, Bosnian, Catholic, Orthodox, or Muslim suddenly are hyper aware and killing for it. Christians have survived 2,000 years in Syria, Iraq and Egypt, but this Arab Spring will be the end of them as they know it.

As for TPS, Debbie is right in questioning the temporary nature of the program. We have Central AMericans still receiving TPS in this country (despite their illegal entry or stay) based on natural disasters 14 and 11 years old. It’s absurd. even should Syria evolve into the post-Assad utopia you expect, those receiving TPS will still claim they cannot return for insert the reason here __________. If Assad wins, they will claim to have been opposition members, if the Islamists win, the same people will claim they were committed secularists. It’s a game we’ve seen time and again in this country, exploited by those who would do us harm. The worse part of it is, we invite these threats in.

And BTW, you’ve never heard about Christians in “greater Syria” being persecuted by Muslims? What about all the atrocities committed on all sides during the Lebanese Civil War? Underneath all of the brotherhood out there, it’s a whole lot of hate.

please on April 3, 2012 at 1:05 am

So my question is: Why is it for us Arabs, it is either repression and dictatorship, corruptions and personal theft of public money (by 1-2 families which are the smallest minority in Syria) 1 party rule or Islamic Brotherhood?

“Please” i sense you have a feeling of exactly what i am saying.

I would want you all to define your definition or persecution, the way i understand persecution it is “the harrassement and degradation of day-to-day christian life and treating them differently”. Which absolutely never happened in the past 3 centuries in Syria or Lebanon… I’m not expecting any American to believe me, Syria was not known to probably at least %70 of Americans untill the Syrian Revolution happened, Conversations with Americans would always be as follow “so where you from” “i am from Syria” “Cereal? wheres that at?” “uhh, you know Israel” “Yeeaaa ofcourse” “Yup its right next to it”. So how do you expect Americans to understand Syrian Culture and sectarian composition when they only heard of that country only recently? I love how Americans are intelligent and read books, but i wish they read about a country extensively before stating opinion.

In no way sectarianism is happening in Syria I am talking about the times of the 19-20-21st century. I understand Mohammed the Prophet and all the muslims tried conquering and slaughtering non-muslims, but that was way way back thousands of years and that is not our subject here.

Lebanese Civil War had nothing to do with Islam Vs. Christianity, it is way far more complicated than that. It started with the Palestenian refugee’s getting armed and wanting a piece of Lebanon unlawfully. Possession is a problem with human being and not only muslims, but especially Arabs. Next thing we know back in the 70’s and 80’s it was the shiites against sunni’s against palestenians against the Syrian regime against a couple Christian sects (all armed). The Lebanese Civil War was multifaceted between 3-4 or even 5 different Parties, even same sects were fighting for “neighborhood borders) it is insane. the lebanese and syrians are the most hard headed of all arabs.

i can go on and on and on i have so much to share with everyone and have so much things to correct about Syria but it is almost impossible when someone like Debbie states that “Syrians with TPS either support muslim brotherhood or Shiite Hezbollah”

I want to primarily it COULD be true that Muslim Syrian refugee’s could POSSIBLY sympathize with muslims brotherhood, but never, ever ever ever ever Shiites or Hezbollah, they are enemies to the Sunni’s, and they support the regime militarily and logistically and even religiously (Assad is Alawite, a sub-religion that come from Shia “Ali Bin Ali Taleb” the Prophet.

So muslims are here because of Hezbollah members are helping crush the muslims sunni’s. There are many muslim sunni’s though that adore shiites and hezbollah (which in turn are Assad supporters and therefor are now treated as first class citizens, therefor they need not flee or seek refuge) because they are THE “Resistance” against Israel, which is all BS. IMO 2006 War was nothing but a staged play between Israel and Hezbollah, just as American cooks it up with Iran and create false tension. but that is another story

please people get facts straight, In the bible god tells us “Judge Not”.

    Majd,

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I am very familiar with Syria, Syrians, its culture, and the dynamics in the middle east. I’ve studied it for years and interacted with hundreds from the broader area and call some Syrian Muslims and Christians acquaintances (if not friends). I stand by my point that those same Sunnis who would not side with Hezbollah will strike the devil’s bargain with extremist Islam in order to get what they want: proportional power. That first election (if there is one) will be the last. The moderate Sunnis and Christian population will not be willing to confront the Islamists once they put themselves into play and ascend to power.

I agree with you, it is a horrible situation for Arabs to seemingly always have to choose between corrupt, secular dictatorships and a theocracy, but that is what your culture consistently has bred. The Islamists as you well know do not at their core have any interest in political compromise. Such groups are very difficult to accommodate and deal with in a pluralistic society, which is why brutal dictators have been the only ones to be successful.

please on April 3, 2012 at 8:40 pm

Your point is valid. We are all scared of of muslim brotherhood taking over. Even my muslim friend said once on facebook “if anyone forces my sister or daughter to wear hijab i will fight them with all i have in life” so i can imagine his feelings represent a large chunk of the Syrian population.

it is too late now and we can only hope for a real secular democratic Syria, where all sects can take role in governing, not just 1 filthy alawite family who have done 0 reforms for 40 years.

However, on many many sites i see Americans praising Assad, with all the atrocities he committed, and with all the support he gets from Shiite Iran and Atheist Soviet Russia, but they would rather see 10’s of thousands of Syrians (no matter what religion) get slaughtered, butchered, turn a blind eye and say “please Assad exterminate the muslims”. I feel sad reading all this. Gaddafi was better than Assad (so they say) but he was crushed by Nato and mercenaries for the sake of oil. but Syria, it has no natural resources but is of great strategical velue and protection to Israel, so Assad is holding up strong 1 year and counting, humanity is a sad thing nowadays…

Majd K. on April 3, 2012 at 10:42 pm

I’ve seen so many videos of the Syrian uprising where they’re calling for jihad, Al-Qaeda pledging support & fighters for the rebels, Saudi oil money is funding the rebels for what? Democracy? The fact remains that the biggest representative of Sunni Muslims is the Muslim Brotherhood. What makes you think Syrian Muslims are different? Did Assad not ban the burka? Many Sunnis went berserk over this, as they regard those who don’t wear hijab naked whores or concubines.

We’ve seen Syrian Christians get used to help the power hungry Muslims before, like when Syrians wanted independence from France, Christians mistakenly thought Muslims would share power with you. You are alone, because sadly, there aren’t leaders in the West that care about your human rights, just $/their career.

It was Russian Christians that saved Syrian Christians from extinction, but how many of you remember that intervention? Instead, you take the darkest chapters from Russian/American history to paint their entire nation as evil. What’s their motivation to help? Either way they’ll be condemned.

Yasmin on April 4, 2012 at 9:03 am

Oh ya, i’ve seen alot of those vids and it really hurts. We have been telling these people to stop marketing for such things on facebook and youtube but they reply “We swear to Allah we wont win unless we submit to Allah” and thats where i stop debating because i am not a muslim and cannot contribute further. there was one video on youtube and the rebels were chanting “the people want islamic khalifat” and i just went berserk… then some guy was like “who the fuck are you to not want an islamic khalifat we will burn you all” lol… though this is happening i would still side with the truth and humanity. first we tackle the regime then we tackle the muslim brotherhood.

remember that saudi arabia is America’s puppet. thats all i wanna say, think about it.

Majd K. on April 4, 2012 at 3:49 pm

oh ya and Russia is motivated by their only remote military base in the world, in Tartous, Syria.

Majd K. on April 4, 2012 at 6:24 pm

I found this post by chance on google, so I probably won’t ever find my way back to this page again, but I thought I’d throw my two cents in. Now, I didn’t read all the comments and this has nothing to do with the latest conversation which seems to be about military/Middle East stuff. I wanted to bring it back to the US and the government:

1) If they are here illegally and sign up for TPS, aren’t they now in the system? We can keep tabs on them. And even better, they HAVE to pay taxes. I’d say this is as close to a win as you can get from this administration. It makes complete sense to me that since we cannot feasibly deport these people, they should be in the system like everyone else and assume their duties. I’m not a big fan of the whole “illegals don’t pay taxes and suck money from the system on the taxpayer’s dime” because obviously you’re not going to get in the system if you’re going to be deported now that you’re on the grid. I think the idea is right that they have to pay, but the argument is childish at best and easily countered by the left.

2) There is actually no path to citizenship directly from TPS. The legal ways of achieving citizenship is through the usual channels: e.g. getting married to a citizen, specialty jobs, etc. Green Cards and citizenship aren’t just “given out.” The naturalization process is expensive and long. Again, there are many arguments you can make about the awfulness of the process and how people usually commit fraud by paying a citizen to marry them just for legalization. Those are the facts people should be arguing…not this absolute propagandistic nonsense. It’s no wonder the left and the media elites walk all over us and make us look like idiots…because apparently some of us are! We can’t be saying that illegals should obey our laws if half of us don’t know the laws in the first place! Sometimes I’m ashamed of being conservative, not for my beliefs but because of the people throwing around useless drivel like the author of this article.

3) I literally laughed when I read the introduction to the article. It’s a wonder anybody read it at all. When you start by saying that people under a Protected Status will be here “forever” is just shoddy writing. If you were to say “the majority of these people will continue to take advantage of idiotic laws and policies and may continue to renew their status every 18 months for an indefinite number of times (i.e. until the government decides to stop), meaning they could be here forever, thus making their ‘Temporary’ Protected Status be anything but ‘Temporary'” that would be appropriate. People, I know one of the core bases that has sprung up on the side of us Republican Patriots is the fact that university is elitist and a liberal propaganda machine. But how can we deny that we need better education, when someone who writes on a regular basis can’t hold an argument together?

4) This last comment comes directly from my momma right out my mouth: If you’re going to write something that will be seen in public, especially articles or signs, make sure you use proper English. ” ‘Cuz ” is cute in person, but inappropriate in an article where you are trying to insult the left. You think I’m being nitpicky, but come on…how can we expect the illegals to learn English if half our country ignores it anyway?!

I’m sorry to be putting Ms. Schlussel down, but it’s people that her that feed the lying leftist propaganda that we are fear-mongers, ignorant, and stupid. Why? because that’s exactly what Ms. Schlussel did: Using incendiary language like “forever” and bringing up Nazism (fear-mongering) is so cliche and useless. We KNOW the leftist pinheads are wrong…we aren’t stupid…we don’t need to be scared into believing what we believe. The complete ignorance of immigration laws and how naturalization happens is just appalling. They’re our laws! LEARN THEM! I’m not saying read and memorize them all. I’m just saying if you’re writing an article about TPS, at least take two seconds to google it! And like I said, using the oxymoronic “Temporary Protected Status forever” just made me laugh and realize why we are marginalized in this heathen world of the left. Because we ignore intelligence and blindly follow the stupid. We will be as guilty as them when this country falls.

RespectfulCounterpoint on April 9, 2012 at 1:18 am

In the off chance someone actually reads the above comment from “Respectful” let me say this: He/she’s an idiot. Debbie knows full well that TPS is a temporary benefit. What she also is all too familiar with is that TPS applicants rarely end up leaving the U.S., even after their period of authorized stay has expired. Additionally, many of the TPS periods are regularly reauthorized, even though the event from which they need protection might have been years prior and the country fully recovered (see Guatemala/Nicaragua/El Salvador) Its a joke and simply another way to extend a form of relief until these illegals can hope to adjust under some form of amnesty. Fact.

please on April 16, 2012 at 9:04 pm

An Article, Post, Blog, Essay …etc starts with WTF ! that is a good indication how illiterate is the person who wrote it and everyone impressed by it.

Maher Sawaf on April 16, 2012 at 9:57 pm

Actually, TPS is only available if you are not “inadmissible” and criminals and those that are a threat to national security are specifically barred. Further, the government has stated any Syrian applicants will go through a rigorous background check http://www.thedrakelaw.com/2012/05/22/its-about-time-temporary-protected-status-designated-for-the-syrian-arab-republic/

I’m sorry that the writer is writing a lot of misleading and untruly over generalization statements.Which can be easily clarified if the writer visit TPS website.
First, Many of not all Syrian in the States are on legal statues.
Second, TPS is Temporally until next September( T stands for Temporally).
Third, many Syrians who are in the States are Christian or from other minorities and Jihadist targeting them.
Fourth, Mitt Romney in the last debate said that he will support the Jihadist in Syria (who came from outside of Syria ).
Fifth, I can smell the racism in the writer speech everywhere in her article.
I’m sorry to find people write with hatred in the land of freedom.
