VIDEO: Your Day in American “High Culture”

By Debbie Schlussel
Yet again, the NBA–at this weekend’s All-Star game–contributes to the high-brow in American culture. I guess we should be happy that this crummy strip-tease act includes no 4-letter words nor pimps and hos. In case you were wondering, this group of “dancers” calls themselves the Jabbawockeez and with Shaq, they’re called the Shaqawockeez. I guess I should have called this, “Your Day in Ebonics on Parade.” What’s that sound I hear? The worms rustling as Marcel Marceau turns over in his grave.

I am mystified. Why are they wearing the white masks?

The white mask signifies the duality of today’s NBA athlete. On one hand you have an athlete that only wants to compete to be the best, on the other hand you have a freak who has more money than he knows what to do with, and yet inside him is artist needing an outlet to express his dreams…desires…oh who am I kidding.

You’ve got issues lady. You really do. What was so damn objectionable in that video? Shaq pulled his sweat pants off to reveal his GASP long shorts? Those dancers are EXTREMELY talented. Shaq came out and played to the crowd. You are anti anything that is remotely related to hip hop. You are a clown. You’re the one who needs a clown mask because you’re the only one with ZERO talent.

Not to worry, Debbie. Next year Dirk Nowitzki will be dressed up as Dick Van Dyke and performing Me Ol’ Bamboo with the Justices of the Supreme Court.

That was pretty cool. I dont care for these dance groups. I think it is light hearted fun. At least they are bumping and grinding like they are making love to the air.

Prior comment should read “NOT bumping and grinding”

There wasn’t anything objectionable about that performance. It just looked like Shaq was getting ready to play basketball by switching into shorts, not stripping. I thought the dancers and the DJ were cool.

Debbie Schlussel is a gimmick. Plain and simple. She plays the big, tough, controversial, conservative chick. It is so damn obvious. It showed during this post. If you went DEEP, down south and found the most conservative preacher, they wouldn’t find a single thing wrong with that clip.
Oh yea Debs, if you think the Jabbawockeez are untalented, how about trying to pull off some of these moves?

Does any of that ghetto trash even know the meaning,or origin of, the word “Jabberwocky”,an English slang term? Don’t bet on it,because you know one of the group heard the word, or saw it, somewhere, liked the sound of it,and just thought it would be a “funky” name.In other words, the typical Black abomination of far more civilized (White) culture, abominated in the form of uncivilized gyrating simulating horniness,to ugly ,thunderous “rhythyms”, hollering, chanting, etc.
And that’s just the NBA all “star” game itself, but I wanna tell ya….

Boy the hip hoppers are a sensitive bunch. Now if I could pull off the move of getting the 1:21 of my life back it took to watch that crap.
And a DEEP south preacher might not find the video objectionable, but he likely would…you know…think it SUCKED!

I thought that was pretty cool, in that somewhat schmalzy American way. You would have to be pretty desperate to find anything offensive about it.

I thought that was flippin’ hilarious. Gotta love the lame music that was playing while Shaq showed us a couple of steps, as Tommy from Goodfellas said to Spider.
I think the Shaq Attack showed enough moves that he might be a serious competitor on next season’s “Dancing with the Stars”
