Hey, Readers: Merry Christmas to the Christians & Movie Reviews Up @ Midnight

By Debbie Schlussel
Hey, Readers, I haven’t gone away. I’m still here, but I decided to take the afternoon off to do errands before all the stores closed. Big mistake–madhouses everywhere.
My movie reviews, for all of the new movies coming out tomorrow, will be posted at Midnight, including “Marley & Me,” “Gran Torino,” “Doubt,” etc. Lotsa good stuff, and then there’s the Brad Pitt movie. Stay tuned.
And to all of my Christian readers, I wish you a Merry Christmas. Your strong Christian faith ensures that America remains a Christian country, so that I as a Jew continue to be safe to practice my religion. More on that later.
In the meantime, check back at Midnight for my movie recommendations and disses.

Debbie, I agree that Christians have fostered a climate of civility that Jews have thrived in. But we could be safe in any number of non-Christian scenarios. I don’t fear or loath hard core Christians like some Jews do, but I also wouldn’t thank them for existing any more than they would thank me. They still want to erase our existence, albeit in a kinder way than we have usually seen. I also wouldn’t say the US is a Christian country, as that ignores both reality and our historical separation of church and state. It seems like you’re pandering a bit to me, and while i don’t normally date panderers, I would of course make an exception for you.
[A1: WE ARE HERE BECAUSE OF G-D ALONE. BUT THE FACT IS THAT IF AMERICA DID NOT HAVE SUCH A STRONG CHRISTIAN BACKBONE, IT WOULD LONG AGO HAVE FALLEN TO ISLAM, LIKE EUROPE. I SUPPOSE IF WE ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY, THEN WE SHOULD STOP HAVING NATIONAL HOLIDAYS FOR CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS DAY, BECAUSE THEY ARE CHRISTIAN HOLIDAYS. THIS IS A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY, AND THE VAST MAJORITY OF CITIZENS ARE STILL CHRISTIANS. DS]

As a Christian, Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah to you, Debbie.
As for Anonymous1, you are very wrong saying “They still want to erase our existence.” Most mainstream Christians respect Jews and most are the biggest supporters of Israel and Jews. I know I certainly am.
I also dispute you would be safe in “any number of non-Christian scenarios.” There are already enough examples in the world that disprove that.

I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and to all Christians, Merry Christmas. As a Christian I believe am a sinner and seek forgiveness from Christ.
Thanks, Debbie, may you have a continued Happy Chanukah.

I am a conservative Christian living in Portugal, and I dont know any Christian who wants to “erase” the existence of Jews. But I am not blind either. I know that there are many so called “Christians” who have crossed to the dark liberal side. They are more of a political movement and not people who actually believe in the Scriptures.

Thank you Debbie, and Happy Chanukah to you.
PS: I tried greeting you in your Chanukah post a few days back, but Typepad/Typekey kept rejecting my login. Hopefully this comment should be added.
