Chechnyan Illegal Alien Hollywood Arsonist & His Criminal Mom

By Debbie Schlussel

The mother of Harry Burkhart, the man who set several dozen arson fires in Hollywood last week, is exactly the kind of person who doesn’t belong in America and should be deported. And, after you read about both mother and son, you’ll wonder how either of them were able to get into the U.S. Well, we know how the son got on: a lax visa system, in which Customs and Border Protection and State Department employees use little scrutiny or time, before rushing through the rubber stamping of the golden ticket into the U.S., as I’ve been writing about for years, and as internal Homeland Security documents confirmed, earlier this week. Oh, and by the way, Burkhart was born in Muslim Chechnya. Hmmm . . . (Don’t worry, though. In the Hollywood movie, he’ll be a Christian from Texas.)

As longtime readers know, I believe we need a priority system for deporting illegal aliens, with violent criminals and Muslims at the top of the list, and everybody else later.  Right now, as  you know, we are hardly deporting anyone because that is the Obama policy:  No Illegal Alien Not Left Behind.  But Harry Burkhart’s mother, Dorothee Burkhart, is exactly the kind of woman who should never have been admitted into the U.S., let alone been given the opportunity to game the immigration system.  Check out her rap sheet:

Dorothee Burkhart appeared in a Los Angeles court for a second time Tuesday. German authorities have accused her of posing as a landlord to obtain security deposits from renters, committing commercial fraud and failing to pay for breast-augmentation surgery, according to the court papers.

Ms. Burkhart was arrested Dec. 28 on a provisional arrest warrant after German authorities initiated a request for her extradition and remains in custody, according to Justice Department spokesman Thom Mrozek. The German government has 60 days to make a formal extradition request.

Ms. Burkhart is in the U.S. illegally, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Her son is here on a nonimmigrant visa that expires Jan. 18, ICE said.

More:

The mother of suspected serial arsonist Harry Burkhart became wanted by German authorities after she escaped through a hospital window following her arrest on fraud charges, according to her attorney in Frankfurt, Germany.

Michael Koch, who was appointed as Dorothee Burkhart’s public defender by a German court, said the woman disappeared four months after her arrest when she was taken to a Frankfurt hospital for cardiac problems.

Two prison guards accompanied her but removed her handcuffs to allow her to use the restroom, and when she did not emerge after several minutes, they realized she had escaped through a window into the hospital’s backyard, Koch said.

“She didn’t look like she would be able to climb through a small window,” Koch recalled in a phone interview. . . .

[In Germany,] she faces 19 charges of fraud and embezzlement relating to payment for a breast augmentation procedure and failing to pay or return deposits on rental agreements, totaling around $45,000.

Koch said he briefly met with Harry Burkhart to discuss his mother’s case before her escape. At the time, the son was incoherent and acted strangely, and did not appear to realize what was going on, he said. . . .

He said the son appeared to be mentally ill. His client and her son appeared to be highly dependent on one another emotionally, Koch said.

Uh-huh. And we gave him a visa and welcome entry into the U.S. Only in America.

The Times reported Burkhart had “travel papers” from Chechnya even though he’s a German national.

HL: Whoever at LA Weekly who wrote that can’t read. The Times reported that he was born there, not that he had travel papers from there. But thanks for that tip b/c that’s important info which I’ve now added. DS

Debbie: more questions. When did he immigrate from Russia? Does he have a criminal record there? And if so how did he get German citizenship? It appears he had a criminal record in Germany. Did ICE check to see if he had any felonies before rubber-stamping his visa?

We have more questions than answers and a guy who shouldn’t have been allowed in this country in the first place inflicted $3 million dollars of property damage in California. Preventable had the Feds done their job in the first place and exercised due vigilance.

NormanF on January 5, 2012 at 3:56 pm

If he’s a German national, he can and should be deported from this country for committing felonies.

This is something ICE should want to be acting on swiftly.

NormanF on January 5, 2012 at 3:48 pm

ICE soesn’t do anything but shuffle papers. Our government is a total waste of money and human beings.

What about the 52 and 22 year old that were detained with him?

Why is the media so soft on the police force.A strange man as big as house Is seen waddling away from the fires and it takes them 54 fires later to catch him. Then the authorities fall all over themselves telling ever one how great they are and are cueing up for big bonuses.

The cop who arrested him might only get a $ a year but those other blowhards easily 6 figures and now expect a major bonus.

A man as big as a house in West Hollywood and they couldn’t find him right away. There’s probly only 3 guys in WH that don’t work out.Stakeout a couple drive thrus.

I want to know why she was allowed into Canada and given social housing!! No one is watching the gate, apparently.

Karen on January 5, 2012 at 7:25 pm

Canada rejected them. But we took them in. Is ICE so incompetent they don’t share information with their Canadian counterparts?

Certain people shouldn’t be admitted to this country.

But we’re not serious about enforcing our immigration laws.

NormanF on January 5, 2012 at 10:58 pm

Yup, and Ron Paul wants to reduce our defence.

Thanks for your seemingly tireless efforts to expose not only a lack of political will to secure ourselves from fanatical hate zealots, but the extent to which we provide assistance to them. Your wake up calls and columns are most refreshing.

(referring to pics) Is that a common way of greeting everyone in these guys culture. Resembles to international BIRD SIGN to me.

As soon as I saw an article where they quickly mentioned he was chechyan and moved on, I knew you would be all over it. The msm will break their own backs bending over backward not to mention the dreaded “M” word.

Of course as soon as a muslim gets caught doing what they do best, he is suddenly “mentally incompetent”.

Well, one thing you can be sure of is that the State Department sees the Russians as the bullies, and the Chechens as the poor little victims of their repression. Much like in the case of the Serbs & the Muslims of Kosovo and Bosnia.

Sometimes, I don’t exactly blame the Russians for being paranoid about US designs on Russia, given what the US first did to the Serbs, and also does vis a vis the Chechens. I don’t justify them supporting Iran or Syria, but I don’t completely blame them either – if the US can support Muslims against them & their friends, like Serbia, why can’t they support their chosen Muslims, such as Iran?

These Burkharts are both born in Chechnya and bear Chechnyan passports. There is no German ethnicity or identity here as they speak Russian with each other. They have sneaked into Germany as asylum seekers where they lived on asylum welfare grants. There is no such thing as dual citizenship in Germany. So one passport, Chechen or German, is fake. The mother’s criminal record from Germany from where she fled from custody is impressive. Now they blame German authorities which granted them asylum as nazis.

So Germany goes to the trouble of trying to extradite a lady for small-beans financial fraud and failing to pay for bigger boobs…but the guy who stabbed Monica Seles to keep Steffi Graf number one was pretty much a national hero. It’s a nation of boobs.

One interesting side note is that the A.D.A.’s argument for denying the arsonist bail was that he’d made anti-American remarks. So the 55 fires, $2 million in damages, and lives disrupted were, it seems, less compelling to the district attorney’s office than the man’s words. What an Orwellian universe.

Louie Louie on January 6, 2012 at 12:07 pm

There is an article in today’s National Post about them. Apparently, they were in Las Vegas before coming to Canada. When they came here they claimed refugee status. They feared for their lives in Germany because of their Russian background. The mother was rejected because they found out about how she committed fraud etc. back in Germany. It’s after that that they went back to the States. It’s really interesting how some criminals have no trouble whatsoever crossing so many international boundaries!!

Karen on January 6, 2012 at 12:08 pm

They sound like Russian mobsters, Vory v zakone, Thieves-in-Law. Probably scammed German passports or she married a German to get citizenship.

Federale on January 6, 2012 at 12:29 pm

Germany is one of those countries, like Greece and Israel, that has a Law of Return for ethnic members born abroad, because there are German minorities in France, Italy, former Yugoslavia, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, Poland, and former Soviet Union. Russia, in particular, is full of people with German names and distant German descent; before 1941, there was a Soviet Republic for Volga Germans. Since 1989, hundreds of thousands if not millions of more or less ethnic Germans from Russia have taken advantage of Germany’s Law of Return to get a valuable German passport. Most of them have made no trouble, but these clearly belong to a very Russian subset that is both professionally criminal and borderline insane.

Louie Louie, where did you get the notion that the lunatic who stabbed poor Monica Seles is anyone’s hero? So far as anyone in Germany remembers him, it is as a crazed villain.

Laurette Latini on January 6, 2012 at 2:23 pm

Not Chechen Muslim but Volksdeutschen. If memory serves, Stalin had the ethnic Germans in Russia uprooted from the Volga and scattered around the USSR in the wake of the German invasion in 1941. Its possible a few like the Burkharts, could have found themselves in Chechenya. And German law grants citizenship to any German willing to relocate to Germany. Like you said, the Burkharts were simply bad apples in the bunch. Their name should have been a hint and its very likely they are Lutheran not Muslim.

Does anybody at ICE do anything? I mean besides the three hour lunches.

Tanstaafl on January 6, 2012 at 7:24 pm

NormanF,
They are probley only part German and have been raised athiest for a few generations. They sound very nomadic.

Gordito on January 6, 2012 at 9:30 pm

Some food for thought: Mother and son bear the same family name. Chances are, either she married a German in Germany after arriving from Chechnya to acquire German citizenship through marriage which would explain the German-sounding names of the son; she could have been married to a Russian descendant of some displaced Volga German ancestry; or she (unmarried) and her son both bear the name of her father, grandfather or grangranddfather who might have been a Russian of some German descendance. But in Chechnya, even before or after Stalin’s displacements, there never has been anything like an enthnic German minority settlement. Chechens have exclusively been Muslims since the 16th century.
The mother clearly displays slavic facial features; she has the looks of an ethnic Russian or Ukrainian. The son has some features of a Central Asian. He does not look European.
The press should find out from whom they got the family name, and who has been the father of the son.

Geneal Buff on January 7, 2012 at 5:21 am

I think its difficult to be sure of their exact ancestry. But what we do know for sure is these were unstable people who should never have been rubber-stamped into America.

One can’t really blame ICE. Its chronically underfunded and understaffed and can’t really do more than pay cursory checks if it at that on aliens who apply for admission here. In the end our national security suffers.

And our politicians have other priorities.

NormanF on January 7, 2012 at 10:22 pm

So they get deported but Uncle Omar and Aunt Zuituni who are here illegally, living in public housing and getting fed money monthly remain in this country?

Truly there is a double standard.
