A Congressional First: Awwww, Unwed Congresschick Knocked Up–First Congressional BabyMama

By Debbie Schlussel
Aw, isn’t that cute? Unmarried Congresswoman Linda Sanchez is pregnant out of wedlock, and it was planned that way. The Democratic family values take a first–first unmarried pregnant Member of Congress. Or, to put it more bluntly, first Member of Congress BabyMama. Congrats, the Sistaz are doin’ it for themselves.
Sanchez claims she’ll be marrying the father, boyfriend Jim Sullivan. But, hey, not a single Bristol Palin/Levi Johnston-style story of outrage from the mainstream media and the left. Shocker.
Oh, and by the way, the LA Times thinks this is a sign of progress:

“I hope people will recognize that to be able to plan that in your life — I don’t think that marriage and childbirth are black and white. There are certain instances in which you have to do things in reverse order.”
Twenty years ago, it simply wouldn’t have been possible — pregnant, single and a member of Congress? Oh, the scandal! But Hester Prynne has morphed into Juno MacGuff, the culture wars have been fought to a truce of exhaustion, and “unwed mother” has been recast as “single mom.”

Why wear a scarlet letter, when you can proudly wear something far more embarrassing: the scarlet Member of Congress lapel pin.

Republicans and conservatives are chumps. They think that rules are a part of a moral society and are meant to be followed in order to preserve that society.
Many prominent Democrats don’t play by those rules and Republicans (for the most part) tend to police themselves. So Dems can do what they want and remain devoid of shame, morals, or any sense of decency.
Democrats project any sense of guilt they have upon society when breakdowns do occur and then they blame that societies rules as being “too harsh” or “judgemental” and then try to dismantle society’s morals further. At the same time they ratchet down upon the law-abiding people by legislatively restricting their rights and liberties.
Thus, they are free to practice debauchery on someone else’s dime.

I do sympathize with her. Considering her appearance, I guess she’ll take whatever she can get.

The morals of this country have gone down a rat hole and if we object to them, then we are being judgmental! The problem with democracy is that the people can’t control themselves. Ain’t congress wonderful?

Debbie, I understand that the media may be treating Sanchez a bit differently than say Palin’s daughter (and I don’t condone either – the demonization of a teen caught up in today’s permissive society, or the glorification of a “Murphy Brown” Congresswoman), but that said, there are some clear differences – Sanchez has done nothing more or less than any number of women who established a career, and put a family together in a slightly different order than the “traditional model”, yet, what is missing is the applause for Sanchez for making the decision to keep the child at all. Both young Palin and Sanchez made the right decision, it is the media that you take to task – Sanchez is yet another victim.

Victim? Doesn’t responsibility count for anything anymore? She is not a teenager but a symptom of the mess we have sent to Washington.
You can justify any deviant lifestyle and there will be a cadre of the same thinkers, justifying the acts. Washington is a mirror of what we are as a nation.

There is something I find more interesting about the Sanchez sistaz and no one ever seems to touch on it. Perhaps it is because people don’t know??? I used to know both of these girls (before I saw the light) by know, I mena spent time socially, hung out, hell I’ve been to their mother’s house, and in the years that I knew them, both were married to white guys (this will be Linda’s second anglo husband – first was Mark Valentine, an Englishman) and had white boyfriends in between. Never once did I see either one so much as date a latino. I guess the girls are only pro latino outside the bedroom…
