Quote of the Day: Chips-On-Their-Shoulders Still Affixed to Gazillionaire Black Celeb Obama Fans; #1 Movie Star in U.S. Claims America “Reject[s]” Blacks

By Debbie Schlussel
Will HOprah Winfrey ever stop using her show as an Obama-gloatfest? Don’t count on it. Yesterday, two days after the election, HRHSBotU [Her Royal Highness Supreme Being of the Universe] Oprah was suppoed to be promoting Will Smith’s upcoming movie, “Seven Pounds,” but instead, she spent the first 25 minutes of her daily TV talk show co-gloating with Smith about Barack Obama’s election.
The display of the matching giant chips–more like boulders–on the shoulders of this pair of gazillionaires was hilarious only in its absurdity. After being asked how he felt about the Obama win by HRHSBotU Oprah, Will Smith answered, thus:

You wanna be a part of America, but we’ve been rejected for so long that it’s hard to take ownership.

willsmithoprah2.jpg

HUH?! Did I just hear the number one box office draw in America–the highest paid movie star in Hollywood (who makes $20 million plus per film)–who is embraced over and over in every hit movie he makes by mostly White moviegoers, just say “we’ve been rejected for so long”? Did I just hear him utter the word “we” in conjunction to “rejection” to include the wealthiest woman in the entire entertainment industry–one of the wealthiest women in the entire world and the most influential woman in the world, the woman who was made so by mostly White viewers and O Magazine subscribers? This is “rejection”? Hello . . . ? Earth to Will Smith . . . .
Please tell me what this guy knows from rejection . . . or this calorically-endowed middle-aged woman? Is he referring to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”–his star vehicle and the show that White American TV viewers turned into the most successful comedy on TV for several seasons running? Is he referring to his stint as a rapper, both as Will Smith and as half of “DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince”, when he became an instant gazillionaire because White teens bought his music in droves?
Sorry, but Will Smith is no sharecropper. He never knew slavery. And he’s never known rejection. Instead, he has been embraced over and over and over again by mostly White audiences and fans. Ditto for Oprah, Tiger Woods, and myriad others over the years. Barack Obama’s election didn’t prove a thing. If they didn’t realize that they’ve been embraced, regardless of skin color, by all of America that made them wealthy and powerful beyond their wildest dreams, they’ll never realize it.
And it’s just absurd to hear the number one movie star tell the number one female entertainer–both of ’em Black–about how “we’ve been rejected for so long.”
Time to dump those garish chips on your shoulders, which make you look like silly fashion victims. They may be all the rage in urban America. But they’re accessories that clash very loudly with your success.
Oh, and by the way, it seems that the other accessory Will Smith likes to wear is that foot-in-mouth lollipop. Remember, this is the guy who not long ago said that Hitler was basically a good person who didn’t wake up in the morning and say, I think I’ll kill some Jews. Uh, yeah, Will, that’s exactly what he woke up saying, every single morning. Get a fricking clue.
He’s also the guy who–on one of many previous visits to the Oprah Show–said that he was surprised to play a Black cowboy in “Wild Wild West” because Black cowboys were unusual. Really? That’s news to the history books, since Blacks were a sizable number of the cowboys in the 1800s and played a big role in the Old West. I’ve written about this repeatedly over the years. But, hey, it interferes with the chip-on-his-shoulder, “rejected-by-America” narrative he prefers. Why let the fact interfere with an agenda? Some people’s favorite role is playing the victim. And they’ll never give it up.
Sooooo tired of this guy’s political pronouncements. Great actor . . . but shut the heck up and act.

The chips on these filthy rich ,ungrateful Blacks racists’ shoulders don’t need to be knocked off….they need to be smashed ,preferably with a sledgehammer.

OldSchoolW on November 7, 2008 at 10:26 am

Why call Will Smith a good actor? He’s just an interchangeable body in high tech extravaganzas. Anyone with half a brain could do just as well. He’s a middle class black from Philly who has been brainwashed into thinking blacks have it tough in America. I’m going to continue my boycott of idiotic black actors and any company that pushes a black/Obama agenda.

Great commentary Debbie, you nailed these two phonies purrrfectly.

billybob on November 7, 2008 at 11:37 am

In MOVIES alone, Will Smith has earned over $300 million since 1993.
I believe in free enterprise capitalism, so good luck to him.
But as for lectures .. STICK it Will.

I am getting this awfully sick feeling that ‘we’ have just elected ‘a symbol of African-American pride’ and not a POTUS. What makes my eyes cross is that if he IS a symbol ‘Of Racial Pride’ than he is automatically a token, a ‘skin’, a symbol of racial degradation. And if Will Smith, Oprah ad nauseum can’t see this, they become examples of deficient black IQ which reinforces a white thinking person’s racism. It doesn’t help that MORE THAN HALF OF ADULT BLACK MEN IN AMERICA HAVE A CRIMINAL RECORD. Black America doesn’t need anymore effing pride they need moral and spiritual HELP as Bill Cosby so bravely tried to show.

Hey Will: I know that us white folk making you wealthy wasn’t near enough. How about this: We all just kill ourselves, so you won’t have anything to complain about ever again? Would that make you truly happy? Would you shut the fu*k up then? No? I didn’t think so.

spiffo on November 7, 2008 at 12:06 pm

Kinda like Belafonte for the last 40-50 years.

FHB on November 7, 2008 at 1:02 pm

Folks, the reality/novelty of a black POTUS will wear-off soon enough. It’ll be around for the next few weeks, and will then fade. It’ll resurrect for the inaugural, and will really fade beyond then.
It will be a repeat of when the Civil Rights act was passed. Now there was no barrier facing minorities in the work place. (A good thing.)
But the reality of actually having to learn a skill, wake-up to an alarm clock, and punch a clock every day, was not what was expected. Those same minorities (Oh, heck…..the black community) expected a check in their mailboxes.
The reality of ‘O’ not being able to fulfill all of those promises will be a sad reality for all of them. Just having a black man in the Oval Office will not magically improve their lot in life…..and they will not be happy.
Boo-frikkin’-hoo.

GUILT THE VOTE!! COBRAMA ’08,’09,’10,’11,’12
If America felt they got rid of the demons of slavery and segregation by voting for COBRAMA, they obviously are going to be disappointed. No, they will only have it more of it in your face.
Yes Mt. HOprah has always been Intergalactic Uppity Trash. Mt. HOprah will continue for the next four years to use the whips of GUILT to browbeat America to live on her Liberal Plantation.
Will Smith is just another warm body who decided to act in fairy tales his whole life. I am supposed to take lessons of social behavior from a guy who acts in fairy tales? Where is your Phd? Give me a break? You have been “rejected” with hundreds of millions of dollars in your bank. Wow can I be so rejected? There are more Black millionaires in this country than any other country in the world. The infant mortality rate of Blacks in America is way lower in America than Africa. Hell COBRAMA’s aunt want to stay here illegally instead of going back to Kenya.
The GUILT never ends. If KING HUSSEIN COBRAMA fails as a leader, inevitably it will be America’s fault. Ethnocentric politics have a terrible place in this Republic, yet the cult followers of COBRAMA will beat those drums for the next for years.

Whenever I read about this type of ridiculous pronouncement I close my eyes and remember John McCain back in 2000 (??) on SNL and his “McCain sings Streisand” skit….

MarySJ on November 7, 2008 at 1:34 pm

My wife is Hispanic (3rd generation, at least, American) and she knows more about hardship than Will Smith.
Her parents used to take her and her 3 siblings into the field with them to pick crops.
She learned early on that she needed an education so she could work in an office – so thats what she did. She didn’t whine about it and doesn’t now.
Oh, and guess who she supported. McCain!
I’m done with black actors that cry about their oppression while laughing all the way to the bank.
I say boycott them all. I’m watching old movies from now on. Screw the new ones and the idiots who are in them.
If I can find an address I’m going to tell Will Smith that I won’t be seeing any of his in the future.

robscottw on November 7, 2008 at 1:59 pm

What has been obvious for a long time is the deep current of visceral anti-white racism in American blacks. It is driving blacks in increasing numbers to abandon Christianity for Islam. Note that there is general acceptance (no discussion) of nearly all blacks voting for the black candidate. It seems that black racism is unconsciously accepted.
Many whites voted for Obama out of an unconscious desire for redemption. But they are projecting their redemption into an external object, a black politician. It is therefore not an act of redemption within the individual, with any real effort, and therefore no more real and as misleading as a miasmic mist.
Race in America is a Greek tragedy. Blacks will always be screaming racism at whites. Black Americans are addicted to their identity as victims. It is their means to acquire money and power over American society. If blacks get enough power they will oppress whites, and white people will cooperate with the implementation of their oppression due to their unconscious desire for redemption.

It was an upcoming movie…but they did give us Seven Pounds. Seven pounds of racist crap.

Red Satellites on November 7, 2008 at 2:31 pm

Ok, Obama won’t put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem. I think this has something to do with Mr. Smith’s feeling that he doesn’t own the country.

rickster on November 7, 2008 at 3:11 pm

I am quitting. From now on, Deb. YOU watch the movies. I am not spending anymore of my money on these ingrate bastidges.

Jewel Atkins on November 7, 2008 at 3:58 pm

Will Smith is part of the reason blacks like me are still held back. It doesn’t matter if Obamam is president. What this is….is that they want to live in a world where blacks rule everything. They want a superior race to dominate america.
Well I’m gonna make sure that never happens.

Squirrel3D on November 7, 2008 at 4:33 pm

What has will smith got to compalin about? He got rich due to people like me..
arrggghh another celeb to be annoyed at

Oprah has turned into a big fat cow. This is the first time I have seen pictures of her and man what happened to that diet she was on?

ScottyDog on November 8, 2008 at 12:17 pm

I’ve been thinking that the black America seems to have forgotten or ignored the profound words of who is arguably their greatest leader, who dreamt of a day “when a man is judged by the content of his character and not the color of his skin”. I think American elected someone based on the latter with total lack of interst in the former. I’m sure that Dr. ML King, as an obviously devout Chritstian minister, would have been appalled at the messianic cult that arose around Obama, and aided by his prophet Oprah.

Mistress_Dee on November 9, 2008 at 1:27 am

Will Smith and his lovely wife are both DIEHARD loving Parents to their beautiful children. They also have a lifestyle of excess due to their talents and ALSO because of the United States of America and ALSO because of the American Citizens of the United States of America who are (proudly) OVER 70% white and OVER 90% christian/jewish.
I LIVED through FORCED BUSING whereby I, as a young child, went on a 2 hour drive 1-way to downtown where I was LESS than 1% of the “white makeup” in schools where the students were (on average) 4 years older than me in the same class. I was picked on, beat up, called every name in the book yet I kept going back. I took karate, I tried out for the football and basketball team, and I did my best – I never quit.
Over the years there are MANY locations, in major cities, that white people are NEVER safe at…period. This is a FACT and everyone knows it.
THE most violent offenders in the United States, percentage wise and year after year, are all NON-WHITE.
Being white is the ONLY “classification” that does NOT receive federal protections – special designations – etc. If everyone is created equal…why is that?
Can you IMAGINE if I went on TV and said that “I represent white people now and we are sick of being laughed at, minimized, not getting into colleges because of the color of our skin (espically white males), and if we are attacked by others of a diffent race (for racial reasons) it is NOT a hate crime?
The “effect” would be that NO ONE would take me, or anyone else, seriously because (in most cases) WHITE PEOPLE do not stick together. WHITE PEOPLE have guilt and too much of it. WHITE PEOPLE are kindhearted, loving, caring, smart, etc.and generally just want to provide a safe environment for their children and children around the world.
There ARE terrible people, who do terrible things, that happen to be white and YES it is wrong.
I am a LIVING example of what happened, in the 60’s, when we were just starting to learn about each other in classrooms/ball fields/etc. and I can assure you that it was VIOLENT/WRONG/and troubling…even after all these years.
I deplore ALL aspects of Discrimination including that against White people.
I left a HIGH PAYING JOB, with great benefits, to report a Discrimination violation (against 2 African American co-workers) that caused me to LEAVE my job. The EEOC did a 1 year investigation and confirmed everything I said. The defense attorney went after me for YEARS. Fortunately I had documented EVERYTHING and there were MANY times it would have been easier to just…say no and/or give up. As a witness there is NO monetary benefit whatsoever. Fortunatley the case prevailed SOLELY based on my deposition, documents, facts, etc. I am PROUD of that eventhough it almost cost us EVERYTHING. Walking down the street if you passed me you would not know what I have been through but I (in all probability) would be “white guy”…nothing more and nothing less.
In the vast majority of cases white people have bettered the lives of ALL people. The vast majority of breakthroughs fighting diseases, medicine, manufacturing, surgery, the written word, etc. I could go “on and on”.
My ONLY granddaughter is the same “race” as the newly elected President. She is my granddaughter and I love her with all my heart. She is an angel from God and if she does have a few “incidents”, concerning her race, then I will be there to support her and to remedy the situation. Most of all I will be there to let her know that there are a lot of good people in this world of all colors. There are also a lot of bad people in this world…or all colors.
As MLK, Jr. said so many years ago “a man should not be judged by the color of his skin but by his character”. I have always believed that for we all come from God…and God does not make mistakes.
Lastly, to Will Smith and Jada and/or anyone else out there. Do us all a favor and put the BALANCE into your statements and quit the generalizing about “the man” or “they” or “them’ or whatever. I respect/appreciate your success just as you should others. Life is hard and things happen. However, HOW we react to them is the TRUE…measure of our character.
Character is COLOR BLIND and I pray for the day that there “stereotypes” will no longer be said again and again “white people have all the power/money” “it is because of white people”, etc.
Try your best. Dot your I’s. Cross your T’s. If someone is doing something illegal then turn it over to an attorney and DOCUMENT everything.
If a white person did something wrong then hold them accountable. But DON”T hold ALL white people accountable.
Nuff said.

Obama’s election as President hasn’t changed anything and his tenure as President won’t change anything, unless, that is, Blacks finally figure out that the government isn’t going to change their lives. I won’t hold my breath though, waiting for them to finally see through the deceitful agenda of Democrat party.

metal321 on November 10, 2008 at 7:33 am

What do you expect? Humility was never a big factor in their characters. I think they are over-rated, and they know it.
What is interesting is that they claim Obama as a Black icon when the good part of him is the White side. It was his white mother and her white parents who brought him up, not his black Kenyan father who abandoned him and went back to Africa.
The most racist thing in all of this is that Obama has renounced his white ancestry by calling himself Black. He is bi-racial, 50% White and 50% Black, and he should be using this fact to bring people together, not drive them apart.

The novelty of having the first Affirmative Action President will wear off. I don’t mind them gloating but I wonder how Oprah will respond as things go from bad to worse under him. As the people who watch her show have their retirement accounts seized by Obama and put under control of Social Security. As the price of electricity quadruples because of the tax on coal plants. As the price of fuel goes up because of Dear Leader’s no more drilling proclamation.
As it becomes more and more apparent to the American People that they have put a wanna be dictator who plans on bypassing the Congress using his “Executive order” power to force his will on America. support for our Affirmative Action President will drop. America will see the lies of the Democrats. Then lets see what the Oprah’s and the will smith’s have to say. I know they will continue to blame it on “whitey” and the evil Republican Party but the people are not that stupid. We need to have voices not afraid to speak out and speak the CONSERVATIVE message. not the Liberal John McCain message.

mfee01 on November 10, 2008 at 9:09 am

Aruis: You have hit the nail on the head. This is a time where indignation and victimhood belong to one group, African Americans – who feel they continue to suffer injury daily – even when their lives are successful and blessed. The other group is White people – all whites are ignorantly believed to belong to a homogenous group – as if fairer skin precludes belonging to specific backgrounds or cultures. Whites are gulity and must self-hate and accept punishment. Special anti-White hatred is reserved for Jews (even self-hating ones such as Rohm E.), religious Christians and any proud Americans. If this is my country, then my country has left me…..

I’m pretty sure he meant that black FILM cowboys were unusual. In other words, it ain’t America that was racist, it was Hollywood. Stop and think about that, Hollywood God Will Smith.

henrybowmanaz on November 10, 2008 at 2:38 pm

I tore up my Oprah fan card years ago and now it looks like my Will Smith fan card will go into the same trash heap.
It seems to me that the Hollywood set (and friends) is imaginary and lives in an imaginary world. But then what can we expect from people who live imaginary lives.
They pretend to be real people but they are not…expecially to those of us who do live in a real world with real money troubles ie. unemployment, high mortgage payments, high taxes, financial aide payments, high grocery bills, big gas and utility bills…need I go on?
Oprah is not on my TV set and Will Smith won’t see any of my money at the box office any longer. Best I can do is boycott those imaginary people and their imaginary lives!
