OOPS! As Suspected, She Really Can’t Sing

By Debbie Schlussel
Remember David Lee Roth’s isolated vocals? That’s nothin’, compared to this painful compilation of Britney Spears minus the gazillion background singers and technical resynthesizing of her voice, sent to me last week by reader Ari. Oy:

Remind me again why people at one time bought her CDs. Proof that anyone can become a pop star with the right packaging and a lot of computer work.

God that was painful. The female rock star with the best voice I always thought was Donna Summer.

Debbie–
Going back in time:
It was widely accepted in the biz that Connie Francis was among the very few singers that actually had a good voice and sang in tune.

Holy shcnikes! The planet must be populated with morons. They willingly give their money to this skank.

Yikes! Actually, it’s the packaging that inhibits her ability to carry a tune. It’s all about exaggerated dance moves, acrobatics, costumes, dancers and lighting effects. It’s akin to a boxer trying to sing in the middle of a match. It’s impossible. Not that I’m defending this low life.

If you ever see footage of her as a child, singing on “Star Search” or “The Mickey Mouse Club”,she really used to be able to sing, you know, really carry a tune.Something clearly happened to her voice sometime in-between the MMC and the recording of her first album.

She just lost my presidential vote right there.

Folks this shouldn’t suprise anyone. This is just another example of what happens when once taleted singers are told to sing a certian way (aka sound alike/generic) in todays society. In this case, once Brtiney had sex, that’s when she knew she had to….hit her baby one more time.
But yeah, anyone with real talent and a real/orignal singing voice….someone who wants to be a different kind of singer, are not accepted/”irrelevant” in today’s music industry. That’s why you always see sex and other trash dominating the industry.
That’s why I don’t follow music these days.

who cares if she can sing, did you see her on the cover of this months OK magazine?
Hot tamale!!

tita2juju on August 25, 2008 at 1:52 pm

Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this!
I’ve always said she couldn’t sing even with the sound effects. Someone should do the same to Madonna who is equally as bad.
For anyone who thinks she’s hot again, her body is about as genuine as her singing…photoshop works wonders.
spiffo, it’s not her gyrating and dancing that’s the problem, she just can’t sing. Listen to the parts on the clip when she’s not dancing, she sounds just as bad.

Is that Jillian Hall of WWE?
I thought Jillian was doing a parody, but now I see it’s an impersonation.
For laughs, look up Jillian Hall WWE for some samples of her “singing.” It’s dead on.

You’re right, OldSchoolW.
What you’re listening to here is the result of too much tobacco, alcohol, and junk food and lack of sleep.

“How you guys feelin’?”
“DUPED! WHOOOOOOOOOOOO!”

Nicole Parker from MadTV does a much better job impersonating Britney than Ms. Spears does herself.
How she got passed American Idol with her toned deaf voice is beyond me unless she sang better back then w/o those vocal enhancements.
