. . . is now the State of New York. Congrats. $2.75 per pack of cigarettes smuggled in from another state pocketed without a trace, and all financed by–on average–poor, working-class American people who smoke. Yup, the blue collar Hezbollah state tax endures and grows.
Cha-ching. Or more like, Nasrallah Al-Cha-Ching. (And HAMAS, too.)
According to Tobacco Free Kids’ April 2008 round up of highest taxes, municipalities in Cook County, IL (Obama’s home turf) impose 5 of the top 10 higest cigarette tax rates in the country. New York had two and Alaska three. Is this why Michelle Obama claims it’s hard to make ends meet on their family’s salaries?

Another valid reason to quit smoking all together. The putrid stench of cigarettes gives me a headache just as well as the bilking of our tax $$$$’s.
I never admired smokers and now I have a reason to detest them hence cigarettes for terrorism.
I’m suprised I never heard a word from Al Gore about smoking and how it poses as detriment to environment unless he too is a smoker. I’m pretty certain Obama is as rumors have it but can’t rely on him to cut down terrorism, let alone his smoking addictions.

Currently Chicago gets the top spot. Illinois has a $2 tax, but Cook County adds a $3 tax and Chicago itself adds like a buck! Merely exit the county and smokes are like half price. Indiana smokes are still cheaper. Meanwhile, for commercial smuggling, Missouri has only a measly 17 cent tax.
Do your homework first!

‘Sin Taxes’.. Just another way that Congress uses to control the behaviour of Americans. Taxes are supposed to be a way to finance activities of the Federal government. But now it has become a common way to control the population and try to modify the behaviour to be in line with what the government wants you to do.
Obama has no qualms saying he would like to see Congress raise capital gains as high as possible (he will be happy with 28%) Charlie Gibson in an interview asked Obama about this and asked for a reason. Obama’s response was ‘OBAMA: Well, Charlie, what I’ve said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness.’
That should be shocking and scary for Americans. I guess if you are getting the hand outs then you will be okay with it. But before long government will be dictating more and more of your daily life. Maybe the government should just ration out the cigarettes. Then maybe ration out gas. Then mabye they should ration food, ’cause you all eat too much anyway.
