But, Hey, He Didn’t Use a Gun

By Debbie Schlussel
Well, here’s an argument against gun control if I ever saw one:

The grandson of prominent anti-gun campaigner Pat Regan has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing her to death.
Mrs Regan, 53, was discovered at the property on Marlborough Grange in the Hyde Park area of Leeds on Sunday.
The mother-of-six started campaigning against gun crime when her son Danny was shot dead in 2002.

The 20-year-old man was being held on suspicion of murder, police said. It is thought he had been arrested earlier in the day over another stabbing.
A 45-year-old railway worker was treated in hospital for a stab wound to his arm after challenging a man for trespassing at Leeds station on Sunday morning, British Transport Police said. . . .
Mrs Regan set up a Leeds branch of Mothers Against Guns after her son Danny, 25, was shot at his home in Haydock, near St Helens, Merseyside in December 2002.

Maybe, if she’d had a gun, she could have prevented this.
Tragic evidence of what the NRA is always saying:

Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.

Debbie – do you own a gun for self-protection? Michigan is a RTC state. There’s something to be said for protecting yourself since under American law and case history going back to the early 19th century, the police only have a duty to protect the community, not any particular individual in it. Self defense is a natural right of man, existed in the state of nature before civilization existed and in view of the attendant evils in even a civilized society and a free one at that, every person must of necessity look after his own good and not wait for others to ensure that for him.

The deplorable state of affairs in the UK, I should add, is due to a government that has successfully disarmed its own people, leaving them exposed at the mercy of the criminal element. America has the Second Amendment. Every state that has passed RTC legislation has increased levels of public safety and lower crime. An armed citizen is a blessing to rather than a threat to liberty, for he who has the means to save his own life also indirectly helps to protect the lives of others. Too bad Pat Regan didn’t see that when she was senselessly stabbed to death; had she been allowed to defend herself with a gun, in all likelihood she would still be alive today.
The NRA is right. Its the low info (politically correct terminology for idiots) people who don’t grasp that guns aren’t the greatest threat to them. Its people bent on
doing harm who are the threat and that’s the way its always been and will always been so long as there are human beings upon the earth.

The Brits are all up in a lather about knife crime now. Soon they will reduce the populace to eating with sporks (combination spoon & fork and useless as either) and ban and confiscate all knifes. That is until the spork crime rate goes up. At that point they will cause the entire Bwitish nation to starve to death. The Labor government will not be missed.

As a cpl holder and member of law enforcement, I believe it is everyones responsibility to defend themselves. The police can’t be everywhere all the time. It is arrogant to believe that you don’t have to worry about your own defense and that somebody else will do it for you.

IF you swear to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, then you MUST support the Second Amendment. Nuff said.

“Better to be tried by twelve than buried by six” as the saying goes. I too, being a member of law enforcement, carry pretty much wherever I go because deviate dirtbags lurk everywhere. When I go to the grocery store, to the mall, especially when I have my family with me, I see pukes everywhere just looking for a jail cell to occupy.
I refuse to put myself and my loved ones in Harm’s Way just to placate a bunch of treehugging twits who can’t seem to grasp the reality of the world.

Are you insane? Britians have NEVER owned guns.

1shit1kill, if you are really are a member of law enforcement then America is truly doomed. When a society puts a racist sociopath such as you in charge of maintaining law and order, then the lunatics truly have taken over the asylum.

No Pasaran types, “Are you insane? Britians have NEVER owned guns.”
“Guns and Violence: The English Experience” comprises 352 pages of proof, from a professor of history at Bentley College, that once again you are completely wrong. Of course that assumes that “Britians” is another example of your creative spelling, and you actually mean “Britons.”
People who cannot spell the name of citizens of their own country should not disparage others’ sanity, BTW.

It’s not my country, dimwit.

I must say Doccy, it amuses me that you think you can win an argument by simply quoting a book title! As if that in of itself represents some kind of ‘proof’ that Britain has a gun culture.
The fact is that very few British people have guns compared to America, Canada – or for that matter, even here in the Netherlands.

Volgende keer, ga ik jij vragen om iets in het Nederlands uit te leggen, kijk hoe ver jij komt in en vreemde taal
Niet al te ver, denk ik.

No Parasan types, “It’s not my country, dimwit.” Sorry, all your references to kippers and cricket throughout DS’ site misled me. And you still misspelled it.
N.P. goes on, “I must say Doccy, it amuses me that you think you can win an argument by simply quoting a book title!”
I must say, Nopey, it amuses me that you think you can win an argument by simply dismissing 352 pages of Harvard University level proof. (In more educated circles than yours, BTW, it’s called a “reference” or a “citation.”)
N.P. June 5: “Are you insane? Britians have NEVER owned guns.”
N.P. June 6: “The fact is that very few British people have guns compared to America, Canada – or for that matter, even here in the Netherlands.”
People who contradict themselves within the span of 30 hours, with their own previous statements in black-and-white on the monitor in front of them, REALLY shouldn’t disparage anyone else’s sanity.

DocLiberty on June 6, 2008 at 8:46 am

Doccy Lib, I question your sanity because of moments like this. Clearly, as you well know, I wasn’t literally saying that no Brit in the history of the world has ever owned a gun. I was saying – as i’m sure that you are aware – that Britain doesn’t have a Gun culture like you guys do. So for your fellow nutcase far-rightist to protest that the current UK government has disarmed it’s own people is, was and remains totally insane.
I know Americans don’t understand irony, but I’m sure even you understood what I was saying, and you also know I’m entirely correct on this one.

Nogmals post iets in en andere taal en kunnen we zien wie van ons in het bezit van de beste tweede taal kennis is.

“Nopey, it amuses me that you think you can win an argument by simply dismissing 352 pages of Harvard University level proof. (In more educated circles than yours, BTW, it’s called a “reference” or a “citation.”
I didn’t dismiss the proof, because you didn’t post any proof.
If you mixed in more educated circles than you do, you would know that in a debate you are required to say what argument the source is making.
You don’t simply type out the title and call it quits, dimwit.
