Video of the Day: Jon Voight Shows Yet Again Why Father Knows Best

By Debbie Schlussel
Recently, I noted Academy Award winning actor Jon Voight’s trip to Israel to celebrate its 60th birthday and visit victims of HAMAS terrorist attacks in Sderot.
Joe Gelman of Neocon Express found this video from a May 18th Israeli newscast, in which Voight talks about Israel, its constant siege by terrorists, and his visit to Sderot–the working class city, where Jews, whose families escaped persecution in Arab countries, are under attack. (Yes, he stumbles on the figure of 3,600 years, but it’s probably jet lag. The guy knows his stuff.) He also discusses why he moved “to the right”. If only his daughter Angelina Jolie Voight a/k/a “Skankelina” would learn from his wisdom.
Watch the whole thing–this guy gets it!!!!:

Voight was also in Israel to visit child victims of the Chernobyl nuclear accident brought to Israel by the Chabad Lubavitch group of Orthodox Jews.
Please fellas, there’s evil afoot.” Right on. Like I said, this guy knows his stuff.

I LIKE JON 🙂

He nailed it! In one sentence….”Every sane person in the world should be passionate about Israel.”
He is one class act. Way to go Jon. Thank you Debbie for posting this, it should be played on every news media outlet across our country-sadly it won’t.

God bless John Voight! I had always liked him as an actor and a person with a lot of insight, decency, and logic.
Perhaps he shoould consider leaving his career in Hollywood and run for office since he seems to have more political knowledge on every issue under the sun than most of our politicians.
And disown his daughter while he is at it 😉

Thanks for sharing this Debbie although regarding Chernobal it should be pointed that studies of the area around the explosion (not of course right at the reactor) have found that the radiation around the explosion actually has not caused problems and in fact they are less likely to get cancer as animal life is thriving. The reason I guess is because the level actually helped the body develop defense mechanism against it and it wasn’t at a level that the radiation was greater then the bodies ability to defend itself from it. Of course we have the EPA police that any slight amount as any bad element is considered dangerous but actually that is not true and a small exposure do bad elements acutally helps your body forgot the term for it. People do have illnesses related to low Iodine but this has nothing to do with the explosion as that is a problem in Russia in general.

Debbie,
I do like the things Mr. Voight says but I cannot forget that he abandoned his children when they were very young. Say whatever you want about Angelina Jolie’s politics, but she has every right to feel betrayed by her dad.
I guess I feel unconfortable holding this guy up as a hero when he has been such a lout in his private life.
How do you reconcile these 2 things?
[PI: WE DON’T REALLY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN THE VOIGHT MARRIAGE TO MARCHELINE BERTRAND, HER MOTHER, JUST AS WE DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED WHEN ANGELINA JOLIE DID THE SAME THING AND STOLE BRAD PITT FROM HIS THEN-WIFE, JENNIFER ANISTON, AND NOW WON’T MARRY HIM, THE FATHER OF HER KIDS. SHE AIN’T EXACTLY PURE ON THIS ISSUE, SO IT’S A WASH AND DOESN’T AFFECT MY PRAISE FOR HIS VERY CORRECT AND WELL-STATED VIEWS. DS]

The late COL Charlie Beckwith (founder of Delta Force) once said that if he was a young man of 25, and didn’t know what to do with his life, that he would go to Israel, because they are serious at what they are doing.

ProudIslamophobe……..
Many of us have done not so good things in our youth that we wouldn`t dream of doing now. With age comes wisdom hopefully for some of us.
Jon used to be on the Far Left as well……but things happened to bring him to the Right. People change.

Hermster on May 24, 2008 at 5:26 am

ProudIslamophobe, even though Voight had a falling out with his daughter it was much more recent than you think, and not due to his “abandoning” his children many years ago.
They (Jolie and Voight) did make the one Lara Croft movie several years ago their estrangement has been after that. I believe it may have something to do with his politics. Just my opinion.

“All sane people should have a passion for Israel… and our own country” I am a gentile who agrees with and admires Jon Voight. Excellent video. YouTube is a great source of news, information and entertainment that can’t be found on either cable or satellite TV.

Reminder: the Bush government isn’t pro Israel; it promotes negotiated settlement, without due consideration of each sides attitude to negotiations. The promotion of elections that were certain to be won by either terrorists or Islamists, legitimated Hamas and Hizbollah. On Sept. 11, 2001, 19000 jihadis were rotting in Egyptian jails; Bush coerced release of all but those who wouldn’t verbally renounce terror. That reliance of Muslim taqiyah, coupled with the 24-7-365 patrol insanity in Afghanistan and Iraq, has led to the position of weakness that is perceived in the Middle East and elsewhere. A Us President who views terrorists as potential voters, has surrendered. As I write, Afghan jihadis – flush with heroin money that Bush indulgence has allowed to fill their pockets – are prepared for a major Summer offensive. Yesterday, they fired long range rockets at a Canadian base. Bush refuses to bomb the Heroin province (Helmond), because Karzai has family ties there. That perverse judgment will lead to unnecessary death and suffering. Stupidity has been in season for the past 7 years, and it is in that atmosphere where a dangerous surrenderist like Obama has been empowered.

Instead of the wisdom of father Jon Voight, I prefer the wisdom of our Founding Fathers who preached a non-
interventionist foreign policy. The following videos show Ron Paul (who
is still running for the Republican presidential nomination) espousing
the positions of our Founding Fathers which are enshrined in our
Constitution as it relates to Israel and the Middle East:

Yes, evil is afoot, and the elitists with the help of the mainstream
media have abetted this evil.

Always good to hear a reasonable person speak about something as important as the war on terror is. Too bad this doesn’t get an audience in the cnn’s and such. Too many other agenda driven misinformation stories.

Regarding Voight-he’s great!
“Supercargo” – re: Mr. Paul; while a few of his ideas are nice, having nowhere near enough delegates should inform his supporters that THE RACE IS OVER! It is time to stop being stuck on STUPID.
The founding fathers did not have a simplistic isolationist world view. Their view was much more complex, with reality being the new nation had limited power and needed to deal with then-powerful English, controller of the seas, and maintain order with borders on French, English and Spanish controlled areas. Just controlling domestic matters was very difficult in the early days of this nation.
The same “founding fathers” even had to confront “The Barbary Pirates” (i.e. Islam) and they did so with perhaps the smallest, yet most successful USMC operation on record – from that we get the lyric: “. . .to the shores of Tripoli”. Which would have been categorized by today’s press as an “unprovoked attack upon a foreign nation” (not true!)
My suggestion: start reading history and don’t stop until much more informed.

God Bless John Voight!! I pray more and more wake up and see what he is saying!

There’s a huge disconnect between people who get their news from the internet and those who don’t. The people who don’t are unfamiliar with 99% of the things we read about every day; the staged photographs from muslim ‘reporters’, the ghoulish cartoons for palestinian children, and the blatant lies and propaganda of muslim media. For those of us who get our news online and completely disregard ABC, NBC, CBS, et al, these things are old, old news.

“If we get the wrong guy in for President this time, we’re in for a lot of trouble.”
So true. He’s totally right, about that and everything else he said.
