The ignorant, racist and sexist statements made by this woman and her devoted admirers are disgusting and should be condemned by all rational thinkers. Showing enjoyment of and crowing over anothers misfortune is contrary to everything that is Christian or conservative.

More than 750 000 women are raped every year in the United States; rape affects women everywhere and it is ignorant to suggest that Muslim culture is the only country on earth that looks down on women. The United States is full of strip bars, massage parlors and prostitutes, so I think that she is being extremely hypocritical.

Muslims may have committed this sexual assault, but they also were the ones who saved her.

How can anyone in their right mind suggest that any group is completely responsible for acts committed by a few? That would make all white Christians responsible for Oklahoma City, Waco, and the Unabomber. Completely irrational and shows a complete disregard for facts.

I’ve been working on women’s rights issues in Afghanistan for over 20 years and I happen to know your kind were not working with us. People with your POV were most likely to be found at that time cheering on extremists like Gulbuddin Hekmatyar in Afghanistan (because, you know, ‘it takes a tough man to kill commies.’) Those of us who actually do care about women’s rights and have spent considerable time living and working in Muslim countries know there is a problem with sexual harassment and exploitation in the developing world (and the world at large), but we also know how many Muslims, men and women, are working against it, not just paying lip service like you.

Ms. Schlussel’s article is inflammatory, and it is not based on facts, or logic. We do not know who exactly attacked this woman, we don’t know why, how, or, really even what happened. As such, any discussion that she.. I grimace to type this.. ‘Gets a Taste of Islam’ inappropriately implies blame for whatever attack occurred.

With regard to your concern for my understanding of the original post. Several of Ms. Schlussel’s comments were, choose your word: inflammatory, gleeful, celebratory – I’m sure one could argue over which word to use, exactly – but more importantly – her words were often inaccurate and very often, inappropriate.
Examples:
–As I’ve noted before, it bothers me not a lick when mainstream media reporters who keep telling us Muslims and Islam are peaceful get a taste of just how “peaceful” Muslims and Islam really are
Again – we do not know who attacked this woman, or why etc.
–In fact, it kinda warms my heart.
Inflammatory and certainly not..sad (or, insert whatever word you’d like to use for not-celebratory)
Same set of comments for the following:
–Islam Fan Lara Logan Gets a Taste of Islam
–And she should have known what Islam is all about. Now she knows. Or so we’d hope.
–How fitting that Lara Logan was “liberated” by Muslims in Liberation Square while she was gushing over the other part of the “liberation.”
–Hope you’re enjoying the revolution, Lara! Alhamdilllullah [praise allah].

Sean – I do, very much want to know the ‘whole truth and facts on what’s really going on’, because I want to make good informed decisions and participate in the democracy I live in. I need you to do that, too.
