It’s only the second day of the new year, and already it’s time for another edition of “GUESS THE RELIGION.”
Hmmm . . . A taxicab driver named Yaser Abdel Said murders both of his teenage daughters on Tuesday, probably because they had too much fun (perhaps with the dreaded non-Muslim infidels) on New Year’s Eve the night before. As reader Rick writes:
Looks like we have a bit of Dearbornistan right here in the Dallastan area. I caught this story on one of the local TV stations this morning. They actually gave the guy’s name and showed his picture, which is only because he is on the run from police. What I bet we won’t hear is whether this was one of those “honor” killings so prevalent in a certain” religion of peace”.
Guess The Religion the Dallas Media won’t mention:
Police continued their search today for a 50-year-old Lewisville father whose 17- and 18-year-old daughters were found shot to death in an abandoned taxi Tuesday evening in Irving, police said.
Police said they suspect Yaser Abdel Said may have shot Sarah Yaser Said, 17 and Amina Yaser Said, 18 and let them for dead inside his taxi.
Police had not released a motive for the shooting. A 911 cell phone call, believed to have been made by one of the teens at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, alerted police to the shootings, but the caller was unable to tell police where she was and officers were dispatched to the area of North O’Connor Boulevard and Riverside Drive, officials said. Officers were unable to locate anyone.
An hour later, a witness reported seeing a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Las Colinas Boulevard in the parking lot of the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas.
“Someone walked by the vehicle and saw them inside,” said David Tull, an Irving police spokesman.
Officers found the two sisters dead in that vehicle.
Investigators believe Yaser Abdel Said abandoned his taxi in the parking lot and left the scene.
Police described Yaser Abdel Said as about 6-foot-2, weighing about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black turtleneck shirt/sweater, a brown coat and tan pants.
Yaser Abdel Said is believed armed with a handgun, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Irving police at 972-721-2518.
Sounds like a Unitarian or Taoist, to me.
Oh, and by the way, remember that hackneyed, old line about the “hijackers hijacking their religion.” Meet yet another of the disproportionate number of hijackers who are members of this religion. Strange that so many of them pick this “profession.” Like I always say, it’s the other way around: Their religion hijacked them. Get off the plane.
**** UPDATE: Reader Ari plays contestant in this episode of “Guess The Religion”:
My guess is Methodist. Based of course on Hedley Lamar’s (from “Blazing Saddles“) call for villains:
I want rustlers, cutthroats, murders, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con-men, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglars, horse thieves, bull-dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass-kickers, sh**-kickers, and Methodists!
There is no wisdom in the world that is not contained in “Blazing Saddles.”
**** UPDATE #2: Looks like the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter who wrote about Yaser Abdel Said and his honor-killing of his two daughters is upset that we pointed out that Islam isn’t mentioned in the story. Reader Jim of Menorah Blog wrote him and got this response:

Subject: RE: Of course do not mention he is a Muslim
It’s not like I just graduated from college. But we were going to do a sidebar about it even though we had not confirmed it yet. That‚Äôs the way we roll.
Testy, testy. They were “going to”?! Uh-huh. Sure, they were. Then, why didn’t they in the original story. We know the way they “roll.” They whitewash Islam at every possible opportunity. It isn’t exactly rocket science to confirm that a guy named Yaser Abdel Said is Muslim.
Of course, I could be wrong and reader Ari could be right. With a name like that, he’s probably one of those Methodists from “Blazing Saddles,” right?

We MUST remember: honor killings are part of their Culture, not their religion, eh, 13 Martyrs?
Funny thing: EVERYWHERE we hear about honor killings, the person doing the killing just happens to be a muslim.
But hey! It’s their culture. We MUST respect it as proof that diversity and multiculturalism work in the US and Canada.
Deb: they are talking elsewhere (Atlas Shrugged, I believe) about Olmert getting ready to partition Jerusalem. You can bet 13 Martyrs sees that as a good thing, too.
[G: THE PARTITIONING OF JERUSALEM IS AN OLD STORY, AND SOMETHING OLMERT PROPOSED A WHILE AGO. IT’S NOT NEWS. ANYONE WHO JUST DISCOVERED THE STORY HASN’T BEEN PAYING ATTENTION. THIS IS WHAT PRESIDENT BUSH WANTS. GREAT PRO-ISRAEL GUY. DS]
