There ain’t 1.6b Muslims – it’s more like 1.3-1.5b. Muslims like inflating their own numbers – but don’t do it for them.
Just hope this guy doesn’t get to date or marry any of them, as the above photo seems to indicate. Last thing we need is more infidels – Jew or Gentile – reciting the Shehada, or for that matter, more infidel women manufacturing Muslim babies to increase the magnitude of Muslim claims on everything.

In my humble opinion, this is why it IS a big deal. The problem is that more than a few press reports will (as you point out) ignore the prevalance of anti-Semitism among Muslims. Nonetheless, I think it’s good that somebody held these Muslims up as role models.
I’d also point out that a Pakistani gas station attendent in Rogers Park (Chicago) intervened to stop a firebombing of a synagogue not too long ago.
This is the behavior we want from Muslims. Unfortunately, we don’t expect it and there are very good reasons for our low expectations. That’s the message.
In the mean time, I’m not feeling quite as thankless as you are about this incident.

There is a trend of Christians and it is every bit as devestating as Muslim anti-Semitism. The Presbyterian Church darn near passed a divest-Israel and boycott proposal. Muslim anti-Semitism may be the “hard-core-porn” of the Jew-hatting world, but there’s a TON of “soft-core-porn” Jew-hating amongst Christian churches and clergymen in the United States. That’s the real danger.

I happen to live in the city where this took place. It’s commonplace that Christians and Jews trade greetings with one another without being hostile. “Happy Hannukah” is NOT a hostile greeting, neither is “Merry Christmas” and people of GOOD WILL aren’t “offended” by either greeting. The “Christians” in this story are an embarrassment to the rest of us who LOVE Jewish Jesus!

Debbie, as a religious Jew, you are familiar with the story of Noach, and the comment the Torah makes about how Noach was a righteous man in his generation. Commentators ask what exactly does this phrase mean, “righteous in his generation”? Was Noach righteous in comparison to his sinful generation? That would imply that he wasn’t terribly righteous either, just more righteous than the others. Or was Noach righteous DESPITE living among a sinful generation? That would imply that he was super righteous, because we all know how powerful negative influences can be on us.
I see this Muslim young man as an example of the latter — he is righteous DESPITE his community of Muslims and their influence on him. I hold him in high regard, because I hold Muslims in such low regard. I am glad that the media reported on this story because we do need to give credit where credit is due. However . . .
His individual merits aside, I do see your point and I do agree with you 100% that the media wants to take an isolated incident involving a very special individual Muslim, and offer it as proof of something larger, which is a complete falsehood — that is, “See? Muslims are not bad, they’re good!” Your point about the media ignoring the wholesale slaughter perpetrated by Muslims the world over is also well taken.
As for the thing about Christians, well, I happen to have a deep fondness for Zionist Christians and since they seem to be the majority (at least, I think so) in America, I rarely speak negatively about Christians in general. But I do think that No Santa Claus also has a point — there are still old school Christians in America who are very much anti-Israel and antisemitic. It’s just good to always keep our eyes open. We are, as usual, in a battle for our existence.
The thugs on the subway don’t strike me as practicing Christians with current day sensibilities in any event. Their names belie their ethnicity as Slavic. Slavs are notoriously antisemitic and the eastern european version of Christianity would be responsible for that in some part, I’m sure.

Then there are the Maoist ‘Shinning Path’ Army in Peru. They don’t look like Muslims to me, but what do I know?
Then there’s the Marxist PKK, fighting a war to ‘liberate’ northern Iraq and eastern Turkey. Not sure how they square their Marxist ideology with Islam at all, but I’m sure American Jewess can explain that one to us.
Then of course there are the Tamil Tigers fighting for independence for the Tamil people of Sri Lanka. Can’t actually see any reference to them being Muslims anywhere at all really. Maybe A-J has a better class of Google than me!
I could go on all afternoon, but I think I have made my point to anyone with a functioning brain. I’ve got plenty more examples of non-Muslim violence if you want ’em.

I wonder why something that seems to be positive is turned into something ugly by the posters here. A guy who happens to be a Muslim is condemned for doing the right thing. The Christians who did the attack are practically forgotten. A Muslim can perform the most heroic act and at the end of the day be trashed for simply being a Muslim.

Just looking at the way you guys bicker in this discourse is just pathetic and childish,almost making me forget that you are adults.No Pasaran,Norman Blitzer,and American Jewess,Kishkeh; get a hold of yourselves!!
The main point of this story comes to show us all that there are good people among the bad people in every race,and religion. Yes, there were few of the many nazis that were sympathetic towards the plight of the jews and even helped them survive.True, a good portion of global terrorism are instigated by muslims in large but it doesn’t mean all muslims favor such attacks. Most of them abhor the oppression they are subjected to and cherish the freedoms and rights we enjoy.Let us not make light of this story and disparage this good man’s heroism. He is the rose among the weeds of his radical islamic counterparts.

If you actually read my comments, particularly regarding the young Muslim man who came to the aid of Jewish kids, you will see that I have said nothing wrong, nor contradicted anything you said on the subject. Instead, I was attacked by Blitzer and NP right off the bat, and I defended myself. I will continue to be vocal about the violence of Islam and its horrible impact on the world today. It is clear from some of these comments that that too many people need more education about Islam.
