With the further information you provided, such things can possibly be deduced – however, it is unfair to thoughtlessly, instinctively assume, the second you hear the news, that the bomber is a Muslim, or even male for that matter. I appreciate your insight, but please, try and take a more balanced, rational and less impulsive perspective. They are sufficiently benighted by long-standing antagonism against the West that they support Iran in its nuclear ambitions while, at the same time, battle the Chechens. Yep, all that Russian support to the Palis, Iran, Syria et al has not only not made the Chechens any more favorable to them, they’ve not even staved off Arab hostility. Beslan taught them squat! The Moscow theater hostage fiasco taught them squat.

They need to figure out that while it would be a good idea of them to have Muslims fighting other Muslims in the Alien vs Predator style, they themselves need to keep out of it and avoid allying w/ any of the Muslims anywhere. Oh, and deport all Muslims out of Russia – if they could do it in the past to Crimean Taters (Muslims), Ukrainians and others, they can definitely do it here. There are Muslim states of vast areas south of them e.g. send them all to Turkmenistan, for instance. That will make them a whole lot safer.

Oh, and I know Judeophobia is an ingrained part of their tradition since Tsarist times, but still, try not to put Israel/Jews below even Muslims in your enemy list. After all, the Russians do have a ‘Jewish autonomous republic’ along the Amur river border w/ China, but Jews have not tried to make that place Jewish: it’s still 80%+ Gentile. Palestinian struggle is a nationalist one? Memo to Julia – historically, Palestine never existed as an independent entity after the Arab conquest in the 7th century – it was always a part of either a caliphate, or a sultanate of either Egypt or Syria. Check out history of the region – there was never a sultan, or emir, or sheikh, or any such ruler of ‘Palestine’. Reason is simple: politically, Palestine never existed.

During their history under Muslim rule, Palis never bothered to campaign for independence, since they were nothing but Arabs. In fact, even after Israel’s creation, the term ‘Palestinian’ did not exist until 1967. The only reason a ‘nationalist struggle’ came into question was b’cos they were now in a state where Muslims didn’t get to persecute non-Muslims, which is as essential to Muslims as oxygen, as illustrated in Egypt, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, etc.

Similarly, there was never an independent Chechen country either.

That there was never a country named Palestine or Chechneya doesn’t mean that the struggle cannot be a nationalistic one. It isn’t just Chechneya, Georgia isn’t Moslem, and if it is to do with religioun, the Kurds (who are Moslem) wouldnt want their own state. Turkey, Iraq and Syria are Moslem countries, thus your comparison, is invalid.

You yourself, negated your point by mentioning the caliphate, Islam doesn’t recognise borders.

Simply put, a struggle becomes nationalistic when a group decided to form a nation. End of story. The same could be said of any other country. No country “exists” till it is created. Canada didn’t exist, the USA didn’t exist until nationalists decided they should exist.

Point remains – Kurds were always different from Arabs, Turks or Iranians, even if they were Muslims. By contrast, the ‘Palestinians’, or Arabs living in Israel, Judea & Samaria never claimed nationhood before the creation of Israel – they had no problems being a part of Transjordan, or before that, the Ottoman Empire, the sultanates of Egypt or Syria. So their claim of nationality is just a thinly veiled attempt to deny Jews their rightful claims to the place.

Let’s imagine a case where Muslims were driven out of Saudi Arabia by say, the Chinese, who conquered it and populated it w/ Han Chinese. Fast forward 1000 years, and lets say that the Muslims manage to get a control over a part of the country, say part of Mecca, part of the Hijaz, none of Medina and certainly none of the oil wealth of the eastern provinces. Then let’s see how they like it when the Chinese demand the right to re-settle Chinese in that reclaimed-for-Muslims portion.
