Million Dollar Morons: Gee, Who Is on the Dime?

By Debbie Schlussel

Some of these prime time game shows must deliberately cast morons.  That’s gotta be the case.  Otherwise, how do you explain the idiotic couple on last night’s edition of FOX’s “Million Dollar Money Drop,” hosted by Kevin Pollak.  I like watching the show . . . only to see how ignorant and moronic the contestants are.  And a couple on last night’s show, Mandy and David, take the cake.  On the show, couples start with a million dollars, which they must bet on answers to seven questions. At the end, they get to keep what’s left.

Hmmm . . . Looks Like Jefferson, Tastes Like Chicken

Thankfully, the majority of those serving in our Armed Forces are far smarter than the guy in uniform who–along with his wife–did not know that Franklin D. Roosevelt’s head graces the dime.  I mean, you–presumably–have spent this coin on numerous days of your life.  How could you not know this?  But this guy’s wife insisted that Abraham Lincoln’s face is on the nickel (if you don’t know it’s on the penny, you gotta be legally blind).  They guessed that Thomas Jefferson’s face is on the dime.  Helloooo . . . .?  They lost the entire million dollars, which they bet on Jefferson being on the dime. I can’t find better video online, so this will have to do. Take my word for it: these people are moooooorons. They give strong competition to the guy on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” who didn’t know “Purple Mountains Majesty.”

Hey, I guess this couple spends their life buying everything in pesos. Yeah, that must be the ticket. On the other hand, the husband did surmise–though he didn’t seem sure–that Lincoln might be on the penny. His overpowering shrewish wife (who definitely wears the pants in that family) overruled him. How long until the divorce?

I could almost understand if they weren’t given choices but to have 4 choices and not be able to figure it out! this guy should be discharged from the military for being DUMB!

I have never seen this show before, but while channel surfing, I have occasionally caught glimpses of “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?” It saddens me to think that programs of this nature (along with Jerry Springer) air in other English speaking countries. As a result, I’m sure that many Britishers, Australians and New Zealanders are under the impression that this woman is typical of all Americans:

Watch the whole 37 seconds. In the end, she unintentionally also reveals that she doesn’t know the difference between “Astronomy” and “Astrology.”

Irving, Americans are brilliant on average compared to the British – that country is mostly welfare chavs and terrorists now. You don’t see cities/countries banning American tourists like they do British now do you?

The guy looked really young, so being fairly dumb is to be expected. I cringe at how stupid I was at 18-20. That wife is a serious piece of work. “Shrewish” is not the word for that stupid bitch. Of course, the passive husband and stupid controlling wife seems to the ideal in the USA. I feel bad for the husband, he is probably one of those guys who got married at 18 right before boot camp or he married the 1st slag he met hanging around base. That happens to SO many military guys.

I’m puzzled as to why you made such a concerted effort to belittle and ridicule us. It’s quite a shame for you that the extent of your 15 minutes of fame is limited to a website with your name as the title upon which you review GAMESHOWS. Kudos to you for finding yet another victim that you have never even had an encounter with yet purport to be an expert on. My husband and I have been married for several years and it’s very presumptuous and judgmental of anyone posting to write such mean and cruel things. Best wishes to all of you in finding your Million Dollar chance.

Actually, the husband “guarantees” lincoln is on the penny. So clearly you weren’t paying close enough attention, if you are claiming that he seemed uncertain. Give him a little credit, especially since he went with his wife’s choice based on that little story she told about how she knew that was definitely correct. Obviously, this isn’t a question these two should’ve lost all their money on, but you make it out to be even worse than it actually was.
