ABC News Blames Giffords Shooting on AZ Immigration Law – So Predictable

By Debbie Schlussel

**** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE ****

Tonight, after I finished the Jewish Sabbath, I learned the news of the shooting of Democrat Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, a federal judge, and several others.  Say a prayer for Congresswoman Giffords (who is fighting for her life) and her family and for the families of federal Judge John M. Roll and the five others who were tragically murdered.

Sickening: ABC News Blames Rep. Giffords Shooting on Arizona Immigration Law

Since Giffords is an Arizona Congresswoman who opposed Arizona’s law to enforce immigration laws and was the point man for Barack Obama’s plan to send more soldiers to the border, I wondered how long it would take for the liberal mainstream media to blame this massacre by a total nut on those of us who stand for secure borders and NOT for any form of violence like what occurred today.  Well, it didn’t take long.

In fact, ABC News–in its very first report on the air–suggested that this was somehow related to the fact that Arizona has a “heated political climate surrounding its immigration law.”  The network newscast then went into the fact that Giffords opposed the law and that she was Barack Obama’s opposition point man.  And the anchor, David Muir, and reporters repeatedly stressed this point.

Um, evidence please?

In fact, there is no evidence that the shooter, this murderer, Jared Loughner, was anything but a nut.  No evidence at all that this had anything whatsoever to do with immigration.  It’s like me saying that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab picked Detroit as the destination over which to detonate his underwear bomb because of the heated climate surrounding Detroit’s corrupt former mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick.  One has NOTHING to do with the other.

This simply has nothing to do with the immigration law.  And it’s absurd to pin this instance of craziness on that law or those of us inside or outside of Arizona who support that law.

Clearly, those–who do pin this on the law and those who support it–have an agenda.  And ABC News needs to change is name to Los ABC Propagandistos.  (I don’t speak Spanish, so forgive me for making that one up.)

And I’m sure ABC isn’t the only “news” outlet to do so. In fact, I’d bet most of them did the same. They all tend to toe the party line on this stuff.

**** UPDATE – Facebook Friend Jake Lee (join me on FB) notes:

This was a Leftist Hate Crime. The guy is an Anarchist/Far Left nut whose favorite books were The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf.

Exactly. How sad that ABC News just “didn’t get to that” on tonight’s newscast. Too busy blaming the immigration law. Like I said, sooooo predictable.

Giffords was the first Jewish congresswoman from AZ. This may have been an anti-semitic crime which the MSM will ignore..

Actually, FOX News has been consistently soft on Islam. Sure, they are ever so slightly tougher on Islam than the dominant mainstream news media, but it would be hard not to be tougher, given how Islamophiliac they all are. By ignorantly stereotyping FOX News, Robert R thus managed, in the span of 29 words, to lift his baseline stupidity into hypocrisy.

As for the canard mentioned above about McVeigh having been “right-wing”, if one takes the trouble to read McVeigh’s ramblings about Desert Storm and related subjects (contained, among other places, in his admiring fan letters to that Trotskyite gasbag, novelist Gore Vidal), one finds that he, McVeigh, felt passionately that the evil US government was mistreating and abusing all those preciously poor Iraqi People — a sentiment that sounds awfully Leftish to me.

Hesperado on January 9, 2011 at 2:01 pm

Absolutely right!!! The fact that his bombimg was funded and palnned by Al-Qaida should alos shed some more light on the fact that he was not only LEFT wing but an Anti-Semite as well.

ConcernedPatriot, your right Carolyn McCarthy is a digusting woman, living in New York, she has spend her every moment on trying to push her so-called “gun-control” BS! And yes I feel sorry for in which she lost her husband back 17 & half years ago on the LIRR when a nutjob gunman opened fire on most of the passangers, and that gunman was a black racist and overtly admitted that he wanted to harm white people! Fact is trying to disarm us who are law-abiding citizens is a violation to our 2nd amendment right(s), so Ms. McCarthy is a 2nd amendment fascist! In order for you to be a fascist, you don’t have to speak out loudly and yell at people, you can be a fascist by smiling in people’s faces, double-talk, speak softly, etc. and that’s even more dangerous than those who are outspoken. As a matter a fact, I tend to trust people who are outspoken and telling the truth and speaking their minds, and being kinda angry, then I do those who are sneaky, smile in your face, lie & manipulate with you.

Samurai – Exactly. That’s why organizations like the International Associations of Chiefs of Police always endorse liberal candidates, while rank and file officers I know despise liberals up and down the line. Those administrators know that endorsing liberals is going to get them more money; not for more officers, and hence improved law enforcement, but for more “programs” that create ever bigger bureaucracies.

CornCoLeo on January 9, 2011 at 4:34 pm

@Corn. Not only the chiefs and Sheriffs, but usually by the time a person makes it to the rank of maybe liuetenent (2nd from regular officer) they’ve already begun to lose touch. As we write these posts a New York Congresswoman is writing up a gun control bill to capitalize on the timing of this tragedy. Her family was hurt by the Long Island subway killer years ago so she’s like a Brady zealot. Carolyn McCarthy has promised to have it ready for vote tomorrow. Isn’t that nice and predictable? Start making your calls against this newest assault on our freedoms. One crazy bastard and we’re all pulled into this due to the priviledged class.

[cue zeitgeist conspiacy]

The MSM will claim that the shooter is part of an elite Re-thug-lican hitsquad whose sole aim is to destabilize American Political Society$trade; and calls for the outlawing of the Re-fugly-can Party.

The masses rejoice. Hail Obama! Praise the dawning of a new One Party Democracy!

Meanwhile, Satan, laughing, spreads his wings. Oh, Lord, yeah!

This was predictable. Jared, at least from what his writings indicate, is someone occupying a seat on the Far Left. It goes beyond a stretch to compare a Nationalist Socialist/Marxist hybrid with a conservative. If conservatives do not push back hard on this propaganda effort, the results could be absolutely dire for any form of political expression that is not center-left to far left. Conservatives need to realize that the are being compared to a homicidal maniac, and fairly explicitly.

Debbie and to everybody else, I was browsing through the Daliy Kos (which I hate the Daily Kos with a passion), and I found this link regarding towards Jared L. Loughner, and it’s nothing but radical far left wing agenda. When I put out the link, this kid Loughner makes Obama look like a conservative with his rhetoric and leanings, and BTW he said that he’s pro-Obama, hated the Tea Party movement, no fan of conservatives, etc. And how dare the MSM try to say that he listened to right-leaning talk radio, I can guarantee you that this vermin NEVER listened to talk radio or heard of any of the host on talk radio. Here’s the link from the Daily Kos:

http://hillbuz.org/2011/01/08/my-congresswoman-voted-against-nancy-pelosi-and-is-now-dead-to-me-eerie-daily-kos-hit-piece-on-gabrielle-giffords-just-two-days-before-assassin

I would like for Robert B to comeback and read that link and eat all of his polluted words that spewed out on this website last night with his bigotry, anti-semetism, anti-americanism, etc. And before I go, this kid Loughner burned the US flag before the shooting took place 24 hours ago.

It’ll be 16 years since the Oklahoma bombing, but the Liberals are STILL painting Tim McVeigh as a right-wing nut. It always amazes me how the media re-write the story and the myth becomes the truth. (Also see Columbine for this. The truth of Columbine is hardly known, but the lore stays long and strong).

I think just this week Dr. Savage asked why Tim McVeigh was killed so quickly. Also, just like that flight that went down on Nov 12, 2001 (in East-Rockaway) NO ONE eve talks about the potential Islamic influence in the Oklahoma bombings. Why are so many nut-jobs so keen to believe the lore of 9/11 and yet, no one EVER questions the East-Rockaway plane going down? Now, I am NOT a Conspiracy theorist, but I am still amazed how LITTLE there is on Flight 587 and all the crap there is on 9/11. I happen to think that 587 was an Islam job, btw.

I have no idea if the theory of the “Joe Doe #2” (or 3) being Islamic has been debunked, but I am interested in learning more, but info is harder to find than rocking-horse crap…and the sound of crickets is deafening.

It has been one day and they are already pressing the charges and getting ready for court. When does the Ft Hood shooter go to trial? Seems some citizens have more rights than others.

ender on January 9, 2011 at 6:45 pm

Last I checked, Timothy McVeigh was “A-Political” and NO political ideology, or political party affiliation, etc. But human-hyenas in the left wing media still think in their warped mind that McVeigh is a conservative, which is a LIE and complete propaganda. We might as well call the MSM Pravda or Investia! They are nothing but propagandist for the left wing cabal in this country, and it’s media’s fault why this great republic is melting down from within, it’s not the politicans fault why were in a ethtical meltdown in this country.

As for Jared Loughner, most of his former school-mates claimed that he’s a “left winger” and a diehard “leftist”, he’s NOT a right-winger or a conservative and that’s a FACT! Since I work from my house, I will clearly listen to talk radio programs all day tomorrow to listen to what the host are going to say about this shooting incident.

Sean R. on January 9, 2011 at 7:19 pm

After the initial sadness and outrage at the shootings, I became sickened at the propaganda, the hate speech, the promotion of hatred, bigotry, racism, violence, and over all malevolence perpetrated by virtually every mainstream media outlet on which I followed the story yesterday, and that included the Tuscan Arizona news crew which broadcast an ongoing live feed for hours yesterday.

All of them were dropping little asides that the Tea Party was to blame, accusing the Tea Pary of being a movement of hate, agner, violence, racism, and so forth. You know the rhetoric, the lies, the same old fabricated nonsense which was proven to be false time and time again. The Tea Party folks were gentle, caring, well behaved, and even cleaner, mor hygenic than the leftists, Obama supporters, Socialists, Communists, Fascist nuts who are on the left-fifth column side of things.

A number of media outlets and opinion droppers demonized Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, and others, for promoting hatred, racism, violence, and so on, as well, another lie and fabrication.

You cannot disagree with Obama, his wife, Pelosi, Reid, the leftists, the Socialists, the Communists, the abortionists, the homosexual NAZI, intolerant nuts, the Muslims intolerant, violent, hate filled militant Jihadi nuts and their fellows, Affrimative Action and Racial preferences, and their ilk, without garnering the accusation of being hateful, violent, racist, and other nonsense and false accusations.

Does anyone remember mister Gladny, a black man, who was attacked by leftists union thugs a year ago? The media and leftists, in their trigger happy, violent, abhorant manner wasted no time in circulating the lie that the Tea Pary had ganged up on mister Gladny and beat him up. It turned out that it was the leftists, radicals, union, Obama supporters who ganged up on mister Gladny and beat him.

No matter, the leftists, including their media whores, blamed the Tea Party as racists attacking a black man, while it was actually racist, bigoted, misogynist, anti-freedom of speech, violent leftists-Obama-democrat supporters who expressed their violent, intolerant, racist, bigoted nature and dishonesty by attacking a black conservative man.

Again the media and leftists, including those in the entertainment industry, betray their bigotry, hatred, violence, and dishonesty, not to mention their malevolent nature, by spreading more rumors, lies, and false accusations as they engage in politicizing the horrible gunning down of innocent human beings by a mentally deranged leftist-fascist-communist loving nut!

It is sad news to read and hear that the nine year old girl, Cristina Taylor-Green, who was murdered by this sicko, is the grand daughter of Dallas Green, a former Philadelphia Phillies baseball pitcher I remember and mimicked as a child in little league or Connie Mack League (among other pitchers, such as Dave Lawson, Sandy Koulfax, Juan Marichal, Jim Bunning, etc.), the same Dallas Green who was the Manager of the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team which won the 1980 World Series over the Kansas City Royals (Phillies – Mike Schmidt, Gary Maddox, Steve Carlton, Tim McGraw, etc. Royals, Brent and others.)

The lost lives, the broken hearts of those who lost their loved ones, or whose loved ones are now injured expands the pain and suffering beyond the site of this violent attack. Those of us who are also heart broken and deeply saddened at this horrific event are also affected, even though we might not directly know the victims and their family. They are fellow human beings and we feel their pain to an extent.

My wishes for some form of peace and love to them all, somehow, in this time of sadness and morass which might engulf them.

William on January 9, 2011 at 8:15 pm

Dallas Green was also GM for the Cubbies for awhile. A fine man, and what a terrible thing to happen to him. My prayers for his family, and those of the other victims.

The very first day i heard of this, i said to myself “it wont take long for the far left fringe media to blame this on conservatives, and the whole of the republican party.”

One of the first to do so was lynda lopez, your typical dim dem from Arizona, who claimed that loughner was an afghan vet who was associated with the Tea Party. The Army recently stated that this moron was rejected by them for reasons undisclosed…so much for lopez’s political clairvoyancy.

She might have been interested to learn that:
A former classmate of Loughner (Katie Parker) described him as being “quite liberal” in regards to his views.

This guy is an anarchist, who fits in on the “Y” spectrum of the political graph i created (the Z representing the mainstream left and right) the top of which signifies total statism and the bottom of which represents ZERO government aka anarchy. He is the left extreme’s version of Mcveigh.

Daniel on January 10, 2011 at 7:24 am

I do think though, reading the papers the last two days, that conservatives are less defensive now than they were in previous instances when the left (i.e. Democrats, the mainstream press etc.) blamed them for “violence”, etc. There is more than just defensiveness — there have been a number of people saying that this event, tragic as it was, will not derail the conservative agenda. It might still be derailed, of course, but probably if it is, it won’t be because of this shooting. It could backfire, the same way as it backfired when Sen. Wellstone died and the left tried to make his funeral into a political rally.

Debbie, This is from your article: Since Giffords is an Arizona Congresswoman who opposed Arizona’s law to enforce immigration laws and was the point man for Barack Obama’s plan to send more soldiers to the border, I wondered how long it would take for the liberal mainstream media to blame this massacre by a total nut on those of us who stand for secure borders and NOT for any form of violence like what occurred today. Doesn’t this contradict itself? Giffords opposed the tough immigration law but supports more troops to close the border?

I hope the left wing MSM will eat their own words about one of their own Jared Loughner, it also turns out that he’s an “occult” worshipper as well. He’s not just an atheist, america-hater (like Robert B from saturday evening with his hate filled post), israel hater (like Robert B, the neo-nazi subhuman cockroach that he is), Hitler fanatic, Marx fanatic, etc. And here’s the picture and story from the NY Daily News (which I don’t like the NYDN for their stupid left wing leaning politics and thier newspaper is more likely going bankrupted for them spewing out their own selfish agenda):

The MSM aren’t the only ones milking this tragedy to point fingers are people who dislike unfettered illegal immigration. The fearless leader of our campus issued this press release today. The UC Berkeley Chancellor is blaming “legislated discrimination against undocumented persons.”

Chancellor issues statement on Arizona shootings
10 January 2011

Dear members of our campus community:

This weekend’s shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and the deaths and injuries of many others in the horrific event at Tucson, Arizona have shocked our nation. We here at UC Berkeley offer our sincere condolences to everyone who has been personally affected by this tragedy.

Such a brutal and violent attack on an individual who has devoted herself to public service is deeply regrettable. It calls upon us as an academic community to stop and ponder the climate in which such an act can be contemplated, even by a mind that is profoundly disturbed. A climate in which demonization of others goes unchallenged and hateful speech is tolerated can lead to such a tragedy. I believe that it is not a coincidence that this calamity has occurred in a state which has legislated discrimination against undocumented persons. This same mean-spirited xenophobia played a major role in the defeat of the Dream Act by legislators in Washington, leaving many exceptionally talented and deserving young people, including our own undocumented students, painfully in limbo with regard to their futures in this country.

On our own campus, and throughout all the campuses of the University of California, we must continue to work toward a climate of equity and inclusion for all. We must be vigilant to condemn hate speech and acts of vandalism on our campuses by those wanting to promote enmity. We must work to support dialogue about our differences and eschew expressions of demonization of others, including virulent attacks on Israel, anti-Muslim graffiti, racism towards African-Americans, Chicano/Latinos and other underrepresented minority groups, and homophobic acts. Continuing to support our principles of community will ensure a better and safer campus. We must do this now so that our students, as future leaders of this great country, will continue to set the standard for a better and safer nation.

Robert J. Birgeneau
Chancellor, UC Berkeley

Given that, besides what has also been pointed out about Loughner, that he was also a pothead who was stoned at the time he carried out his rampage, it’s interesting that many of those quick to blame “conservative talk radio” on the shooting are the same ones who advocate legalizing marijuana. Excuse me, but wouldn’t Loughner be Exhibit “A” AGAINST legalization?
