Hey, it’s another fine day of “peacefulness” in America brought to you by the “Religion of Peace.”  This time, I give kudos where it is due:  The Record of New Jersey–unlike most of the mainstream media–actually had the guts to report the guy’s religion. But the publication does try to whitewash it, indicating that somehow Islam got him to surrender and not pursue further violence. Uh, riiiight.  The guy, Trevon Johnson, is clearly devout, complete with his own Islamic facial hair. And have fun, New Jersey taxpayers. You’re paying for his lawyer.

A Maryland jail escapee who fired at police during a tense standoff at a Hackensack apartment building last week appeared before a judge Monday on attempted murder, weapons and other charges. . . .

Wearing an orange jail-issued jump suit, Johnson gazed downward as the judge read off more than a dozen charges, including seven counts of attempted murder for allegedly firing at police and U.S. marshals, who with the help of negotiators, eventually coaxed him into surrendering.

As two corrections officers stood guard, Johnson answered the judge’s questions in a soft voice, indicating he understood the charges and wished the court to appoint an attorney to represent him because he could not afford one.

Johnson, who is being held on $2 million bail, is also charged with being a fugitive from justice, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, possession of an automatic handgun without a permit, possession of hollow-point, .40-caliber bullets and receiving stolen property in connection with a gun that had been stolen in a burglary in Maryland.

During the standoff Thursday at the Polifly Arms, Johnson begged police to bust through the steel-framed door and kill him. He tried to convince them he was holding an 8-month-old baby hostage. Near the end of the drama, he set some of the apartment’s contents on fire.

Ultimately, a religious appeal may have convinced Johnson, a recent convert to Islam, to end the standoff, which began when he fired at least seven rounds at officers who had gone to the Polifly Road apartment to arrest him.

Yup. The Religion of Peace. And, like they say, those Muslims in America are soooooo much more moderate than their counterparts in every single other country in the world.

Tell it to the cops at whom Johnson was firing and whom he was trying to kill. And tell it to the Nidal Malik Hasan, the Times Square Bomber, etc.
