Today is the last day of Chanukah. The holiday ends at nightfall, tonight. And I couldn’t let the holiday go by without showing you this video of the Chanukah reunification of two surviving relatives from a family wiped out by the Nazis. The cousins, Saul Dreir and Lucy Weinberg, are both in their ’80s and re-united for the first time, last week, to celebrate Chanukah together in Miami. They hadn’t seen each other in decades–65 years to be exact–and each thought the other was dead.

For me, its another sign G-d exists. How do you think they would have both lived as long as they did without His intervention to find each other?

That is what ultimately makes life meaningful, that good comes out of people’s suffering. If G-d didn’t exist, it wouldn’t mean anything! In this story you can find solace in divine providence and hope springs eternal from the human heart.

And yes, its a miracle also and G-d should be thanked for it! It should be treasured for you don’t witness something as wonderful as this every day.

Sorry, but I stopped thanking God for stuff years ago, because (among other reasons), I discovered that he’s rude, and never says “You’re Welcome.”

Furthermore, if there actually is a God and an afterlife, I can only assume that all the dead relatives of these two people have spent the last 65 years giving him the finger for creating Hitler.
