DISGRACE: Al-Jazeera’s Apartheid Nation Gets US-Hating FIFA Nod

By Debbie Schlussel

Many on the right are, no doubt, cheering that Barack Obama lost America’s (and Kansas City’s) bid to host the 2022 World Cup soccer competition to the terrorist-enabling, anti-Semitic apartheid monarchy of Qatar.  But I’m not cheering with them.  It’s a disgrace.  And the only winners here are America-haters, Muslims (same thing), and the Al-Thanis–the fat and hateful ruling royal family of Qatar.

Two of a Kind: Yasser Arafat & Best Bud, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani

Extremist Makeover: Sheikh Hamad Celebrates w/ FIFA Stooge President Joseph “Sepp” Blatter

I’ve always said on this site and elsewhere that if you love soccer somewhere around the world, the odds are that you hate America and support Islamic terrorism.  And this vote by FIFA–against America–in favor of this glorified desert that funds and hosts Al-Jazeera (Al-Qaeda News Network) is more confirmation of that. The disclosure, over the weekend in the Wikileaks diplomatic cables, that Qatar was the “worst in the region” in counter-terrorism efforts and said it wanted to continue to aid Islamic terrorists–rather than help the U.S. go after them–was, as I noted previously, hardly a revelation. And we know that the Qatari royal family contributed to Palestinian Islamic terrorism telethons. For an Extremist “Makeover, Qatari Dictator, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Removed His Islamic-Terrorist-in-Chief garb for a Western suit and Tie.

Reader and friend Joel adds:

Are you going to cover FIFA’s awarding of the 2022 World Cup to the absolute monarchical, terrorist-harboring Qatar? It’s astonishing. Since the World Cup was first held in 1930, it’s never been held in a country that wasn’t at least nominally democratic. The closest it came to a shonda [Yiddish for shame/disgrace/pity] was in 1978, when it was held in Argentina. Shameful.

And, as you know, Qatar is an apartheid state. It is part of the Arab boycott on Israel.  If you are Jewish and have an Israeli stamp in your passport or hold an Israeli passport, you aren’t allowed into Qatar. If an Israeli team made it to the Wold Cup, even if they let them in, it would be a “show” exemption, since the state regularly practices apartheid against all other Jews and Jewish Israelis. What if a Gulf state wouldn’t let Blacks in or those who had stamps from Black countries on their passports? I guarantee you the world would shun that country and NEVER even consider it to host a world sports championship event. That’s what should have happened here. But, sadly, it never happens with these anti-Semitic, terrorist-hosting Gulf states. They literally get away with murder . . . and so much more.

Gee, I wonder exactly how much the bribe was, by what mechanism the money got exchanged…and whether it was in dollars or yuans.

This wasn’t a vote against Obama.  It was a vote against America by America-hating world soccer officials who’d rather that soccer players get uber-dehydrated on the blistering heat in the land of camels, sand, and other “accoutrements” of oil sheikhdom than in the balmy weather of the best, most ideal host for the event, the United States of America.  Barack Obama won’t be anywhere near the White House (we hope) in 2022.

The only upside is that American taxpayers won’t have to finance the gobs of spending Obama and his American soccer bureaucrats were promising.  But, no worries, in 2022, I’m sure that money will have long been overspent elsewhere, so really no upside for you.

Don’t ever forget this truism: While some Americans may love soccer, soccer hates America.

Correction to Joel: the World Cup was held in Fascist Italy in 1934.

NormanF on December 2, 2010 at 4:20 pm

We’ve seen how much they hate America…. well they can go and play on blistering sand amid the camels. FIFA’s decision is no great loss as far I’m concerned.

NormanF on December 2, 2010 at 4:22 pm

So let’s see if we understand it. A country with a minuscule population, with a low standing in the sport itself, with a history of discrimination against one particular country, and a low scoring proposal (Qatar) wins against a major country that is not discriminating and had a higher scoring proposal (US). “Sticking it” to the US might be part of the explanation for this decision; another is that FIFA is corrupt as hell.

The poetic justice in all this is that those intent on enjoying the games in country will have to suffer Qatar’s 130 degree summers . Serves them right. Maybe by then folks will learn that sucking up to rich Muslim countries carries a cost.

After the lousy 2010 World Cup, many soccer fans are bailing-in favor of rugby.

In France–this is true because of the disgraceful performance of their national team. In the US it is because of shockingly bad coaching and recruiting. In a country with 300 million people we can’t field a winning team???

FIFA’s product is simply too boring to watch anymore. I realize that Spain won by putting their opponents to sleep, but this does not bode well for the sport. Add to this the endless dives and rotten officiating, and one wonders if FIFA will even be around in 2022.

FIFA and Qatar and FIFA and Russia deserve each other.

Fortunately,I doubt anyone in this country will care too much.

Ghostwriter on December 2, 2010 at 5:43 pm

Indeed you are correct Ghostwriter. I wouldn’t watch soccer if they played it in my back yard!

Debbie,

The only thing I disagree with you on is that it is not a simple case of ‘soccer hating America’. The problem is that FIFA – like every one of the other ‘international bodies’ (in politics, sport, finance etc) – has a built-in anti-Western, pro-Islamic bias. Soccer lovers in the UK are pretty unanymous in their disgust at the World Cup going to Qatar.

I’ve written a letter of complaint to the President of FIFA about this:

I might watch a soccer match if it were played by long haired and entirely nude goddesses who also performed jumping jacks after each score. Hope the world enjoys the scorching temperatures and restrictive atmosphere of Qatar.

kenny komodo on December 2, 2010 at 6:53 pm

To say the least… you’re an idiot! anti semitism in the Middle East? ARABIC is a SEMITIC language! I’m not going to spend my time replying to all of the other racial slurs and ignorant assumptions…

nemo on December 2, 2010 at 7:17 pm

I’m not a soccer fan. It has been infested in this country with politically correct attitudes, and the less we see of it the better. I don’t care where they play as long as the US taxpayers, hopefully don’t have to support it the way we do the United Nations which is just as bad.

Good riddance to all of them.

Little Al on December 2, 2010 at 7:52 pm

They gave the world cup to a country that still uses lashes as a legal, public punishment. They better set up extra lashing posts outside the matches for when the European nations arrive.

Qatar is not exactly what you’d call a soccer nation. Whoever heard of them?

NormanF on December 3, 2010 at 12:21 am

What they’ll probably do, either before or after each match, is stone a woman in front of the goal. Those who are able to hit the victim with a stone, and have the stone ricochet into the net, are chosen to sever the head of an infidel player who scores a goal against a moslem country. Any who perform the same feat on a “corner throw” will have the honor of severing the head of an infidel referee.

CornCoLeo on December 3, 2010 at 12:46 am

That’s good black humor. Heck, that’s what they probably do when no one is watching. Whatever possessed the FIFA to award it to Qatar shows someone played a practical joke. And you’re right, its on the dhimmis!

NormanF on December 3, 2010 at 1:49 am

Oh please much ado about nothing.

There is no conspiracy here, get a grip. FIFA is just corrupt and PC.

The World Cup was held in America in ’94.

South Africa wasted billions on this stupid spectacle, in a country where millions are undernourished, and the South African ANC govt is viciously anti-American and anti-Semitic and openly supportive of the Muslim jihad. How is Qatar any worse? Let the dhimmi Western tourists go to Qatar and experience first-hand the stifling atmosphere of Islam, it will be an education for most of them. What if Israel (against the considerable odds mind you) qualifies for this tournament?

Larry in Tel Aviv on December 3, 2010 at 2:57 am

Debbie S:

“soccer hates America”.

Uh Debbie that’s a fallacy of misplaced concreteness.

Soccer can no more hate America than baseball can love America.

Larry in Tel Aviv on December 3, 2010 at 3:06 am

Gutter is part of OPEC cartel which is a monopoly. And has created incredible economic harm. These countries also nationalize oil company assets after originally signing agreement to find oil in those piss ass countries.
If you object to USA hoisting because it hosted it before, Australia had a lot more legitimate claim to this event than Gutter

madman on December 3, 2010 at 9:08 am

The million $ question is: What will they do if Israel qualifies to enter the tournament? Will they boycott their own games?
That would be poetic justice.

Too bad many have negative feelings about a great game of football. Proper name is football since they play the ball mostly with their foot (british invention). I guess because football was already taken, soccer (how did they come up with that name?) was the next choice. I could care less aobut dives and injury pretend that players tend to embelishto get a free kick. That’s why I prefer hockey. You know the hits are real.
Anyway, off my soap box.

BigGino on December 3, 2010 at 9:45 am

I am cheering this, not b’cos of anything it does to Obama, but b’cos I’d like soccer to remain a backwater sport, and nowhere near football, baseball, basketball, tennis, et al. By FIFA not holding the world cup in the US even in 2022, it makes it less likely that the game will catch on in the US.

But Qatar is a bizarre choice – not just b’cos of everything mentioned above, but b’cos soccer was far more interesting when it was hosted by soccer champion countries, be it Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Italy, Brazil, Germany, et al. It makes sense to host the championship in these countries. I followed a bit the last world cup in South Africa, and some of the countries in the contest, like Cote d’Ivory, were ridiculous. Starting the contest w/ 32 countries was as well!

Also, typically, for a championship of this magnitude, they generally require a country w/ a few stadiums so as to host 2-3 matches a day. Qatar has only its capital. So what were the FIFA guys smoking? Even a country like Morocco would have made more sense – they too are Islamic, but at least they have 4 cities w/ which to at least make it interesting.

Infidel Pride on December 3, 2010 at 10:07 am

Well the point everyone is missing is that Obama has clearly explained him self, it’s just that FIFA didn’t understand all the apologies. It’s as obvious as the giant nose on the face of the Fat bastard from Qatar.

samurai on December 3, 2010 at 10:18 am

Qatar’s decided stadiums are much better than the ones the US, England and Australia has. Qatar will finish building its stadiums in 2020 and they will be the most modern stadiums in the world. Google some info about this.
